JAKE3914 Currently have a 13’ Honda Recon ES, and I work the crap out of it almost every day hauling firewood out of the woods. Estimated to have somewhere around 35,000 miles on it. Never had a problem! Gone through 3 sets of tires, if that’s any indication of how hard it’s ridden. Recently was given a used Yamaha Rhino 700 with 5,000 miles on it, and it hasn’t been very reliable. Taken the engine case apart twice to replace the stator coil (got a bad one the first time), which includes removing the water pump. Overheats when I load it down with wood, and run down the road (the same thing I’ve done forever with the Recon). Blows out rear cv joints so often I just gave up, so they click like crazy. Just waiting for one to come apart completely to replace them. Really need to upgrade to a Honda Pioneer!

I had a brand new polaris 800 ranger that melted a hole through the seat, ECM problems, couldn't keep wheel bearings on it, and the list goes on. I've had no issues with the Honda. Great video, thank you
Rick May maybe you guys claiming polaris is junk simply bought the wrong polaris for the job. The ranger is not a farm implement. If that’s what you’re looking for than you should’ve bought a polaris brutus.
@@ROTAXD Translation: Polaris look good on the sales floor but don't use them for any real work or you'll break them. My Arctic Cat *IS* a "Farm Implement".
ROTAXD he was using it for exactly what they are built and advertised for. There just junk, Polaris has always had a name of being junky other then in the snowmobile industry, I own one that hasn’t been miss treated, and hey I be there first to say it, it’s junk and it’s a good thing I’m a mechanic and have a two post lift. But hey I know plenty of people that just use there’s to go to the mail box once a week that swear by them.
@@ROTAXD So, what EXACTLY is the job for Polaris? Seriously, "Wrong job BRAH!" sounds like a crap excuse. Are you saying the Polaris Rangers are NOT a daily use UTV? Are they some sort of 4 wheeled primadonnas that you only get to take out on the weekends after spending all week getting them ready? Is Polaris the hot cheerleader that you take out to lunch all week, buy her a bunch of jewelry, carry her books just for the chance of having some fun on the weekend? It's a dam machine, It moves you from point A to point B. If it continuously breaks doing that...IT IS JUNK!
Rick May & morehp1, Rick May the job of a ranger ? Rangers are meant for mostly yard work, hunting, some trail riding. Again, you want a work machine, find a polaris brutus. Morehp, we do far more than drive down to get the mail once weekly and we’ve been fine. In fzct, we’ve had far better luck with it it than our friends who run yamahas & our unfortunate other friends that ride a kymco-cat.
Previous place I worked had a lot of utv. Hondas and kawasaki mules tended to hold up better than the polaris rides. Does not mean they are not enjoyable but people prefer some rigs more than others. I now own a Mule sx xc 4x4. It is not fast but I was very impressed with the ones at work and wanted the same reliability.
I have a Pioneer 500, I call it golfy. It's a workhorse around here. I was out climbing the ravines last night in the snow, the paddle shift is necessary for holding gears, otherwise it hunts too much. So this morning I got up to 6-7" of heavy snow and since it is going to get nasty cold this week, I was pushing the snow banks back with my Kubota loader. I got it stuck! I had to walk to the other end of the property to retrieve golfy, after hooking up a chain, a couple of tugs with golfy and the tractor was free. I'm always amazed at how strong the Pioneer 500 is, whether joy riding up and down the ravines or saving the day.
i have a honda atv its see 3 of my kids growing up riding the hell out of it....now i ride it ...im 59 yrs old and the honda is still running strong.....never quits
I bought a 2011 polaris ranger 800 twin.Brand new.Speedo cluster ring broke and popped off in the cold untouched, clutch made tremendous noise.i think there just sloppy made. One thing polaris has down pat is the ride.Had an polaris sportsman, electrical problems. No More polaris here.JAPANESE have equipment engineered to almost perfection!Kubota, honda, yanmar, suzuki, yamaha, kawasaki, you cant go wrong. All my hobby farm equipment is now Japanese.Sorry America, your engineering doesn't cut it sometimes.
moultonditcher 1) the 800 was one of Polaris’ worst motors. 2) I’ve had polaris in my stable as well as can am & honda. Never had any oe wiring issues with the polaris. As for clutch noise, the only time I’ve seen much noise out of popo clutches is when they’re completely neglected or people are in the habit of tooling around @ 10 mph in high range.
I used to be 100% American with almost everything. I want to support my country... but damn... over the past 15 or 20 years American made stuff has dropped in quality and most larger items are full of stuff from China anyway.
I have a 1987 Honda Foreman 350 4x4. Starts and runs great still. I hope the new Hondas are still designed and built as well as the old ones. I'll definitely check out the Pioneer when it's time for a SXS.
By far one of the best videos I have seen. It is refreshing to see someone just tell his own story without all the bashing of another product. Well done and thank you sir.
Back Creek Cabin, We had a 2013 Polaris Ranger 500 , absolutely wonderful machine (utility and for recreation) we recently upgraded to a Polaris XP 900 and couldn't be more pleased as well :)
I bought a 2007 Honda Rancher in early 2009 from a dealer who couldn't sell them. I go it for pennies on the dollar. I still have that beast, and it is still the best quad I've ever owned. I am now looking for a 4 seater because I have kids who are too big to ride on the quad with me. I'm pretty much sold on the Honda Pioneer. Thanks.
I’ve landed on several of your videos while cruising through my various interests like when you rebuilt the utility trailer. I enjoy your well-spoken, informative, and witty videos that make it feel like a dialogue rather than just you. Definitely subscribing now. Appreciate your work and keep it up!
Thanks. Great video. We are steering away from a Polaris as well due to some issues we had with ours in the mountains of NC. I did want to share one thing with you. We had a couple of miles of private road with several families depending on it being open (medical reasons, etc). I did the plowing and was always banging up the blade on protruding rocks and the occasional stump. It took me two years to figure out that if I unbolted the replaceable bottom part of the blade and inserted about 3" of thick stall mat between the replaceable bottom and the plow itself, I could drop the plow down and ride with the stall mat doing the snow removal, not the metal blade. Looks like you have a very nice concrete driveway and that might not help you much, but if you do any gravel road plowing... But again, thanks. We'll go look at Honda now. It's too hot here to sit on that Polaris heat machine all summer.
Look into kubota rtv I have an 1120 and I absolutely love it. I pull a 2 bottom plow with it as well as a ton of other implements. I have had it for just over a year and so far no problems.
I've had 2 Polaris side by sides, a Kawasaki side by side and now a 2016 pioneer 1000 since new. It's be far cheaper to own and does a super job on the out back.
Cat Jack ... I need a 6 seat crew model for my farm . i have 5 kids. Im thinking about saving a few bucks and getting the yanmar. It's the same as the yamaha viking with tons of accessories. I need it for hunting fishing and farming. Im not interested in big power i just want dependability any thoughts?
Derek Bedford ya really can’t go wrong with a Yamaha they are super reliable right up there with Honda the new wolverines got the 850 engine in them of ya wanted the extra power but if that’s no issue the Viking is great I was in a six seater touring the mountians in Newfoundland it was a great unit. I had 2 Polaris sportsman’s and they were real troublesome. Have a can am xmr at the moment seems to be ok so far. I ride a lot of mud so I went with a mud bike. I’m not Familiar with yanmar but if they are anything like the yamaha you should be ok.Good luck with your choice!
Cat Jack .... Yanmar is typically a tractor company. But they made a deal with yamaha. The units are exactly the same. Just different decal options and different color options.
I tell people that truth all the time and they think IAM hating cause they have a new atv and I have a 2006 Yamaha. One guy even told me don't worry things will get better with money and you could get you a new atv I was like dude I don't need to finance like you I can go get me one cash💰 reason IAM still driving a old one cause IAM waiting for it to break down but it just won't stop running
I had a John deer, the same odd issues ruined the experience... jd finally fixed it after I threw a fit, and I got rid of it. Honda, they look amazing, thanks for the review... I will def go with them next time.
1000 miles and no issues is good as its still basically new. Check back in 5 or 6K miles. I do 1000 miles a year at least just running traps. I wnt something that will last more than a couple years especially at the price they want for them.. Im looking hard at the Yamaha Wolverine.
I have the 2018 ranger 570 full size. It’s a pain to clean and to change the front demand drive fluid. Think I’ll get a Honda next. I like how the under carriage is covered from mud and debris
@@BrandonBigB956 I second that. Any and everything I've ever owned be it ATV or Jeep etc with stock or aftermarket skid plates have all just trapped rubbish and mud, leaves, branches.. you name it. I have land so riding has always been a daily norm. It'd be different if I went road few times a year and scrubbed only then. But nope. So a power washing occasionally is it. No detailing
I have the same Pioneer. Bought it in June of 2019, I've put almost 3,000 miles(some pretty hard). All I've done is change the oil and took it in for the recall on the steering column. Great great product.
Steve Simonds lol budget 570? It’s a 2015 full size 570 eps. Light bar, radio, bumpers, winch, heater, doors it’s an 18,000$ machine lol “budget 570”. 😂🤦♂️ I’m sorry mine had problems and yours didn’t lol. It’s my experience and I’m sorry it’s not as good as your experience. I use to love polaris I had an old sportsman 500 and it ran like a top. So when I decided to get a new workhorse I bought my ranger and all I gotta say is polaris built a plastic turd. The olny thing realiable is the motors. Rivets are already popping outta the plastics and just had to take it to the shop for 4 weeks for a damn electrical problem. Battery kept going dead and couldn’t use my machine to work it like it should be worked. I literally had to go to the dealer and get a new quad because my farm work was getting way way behind bought me a canam outlander 650 and I love it! going to hopefully trade my pos ranger in next year for a real side by side like a canam defender or Honda Pioneer.
How about an update video on your pioneer?? I would love to hear how its working out for you! I have 2 pioneer 700-4's and am considering upgrading to the 1000-5
I’ve owned two polaris rzr sxs’s. Totaled one out and thank goodness I didn’t buy from your dealer because the roll bar saved my life! Second one is so good so far. I’ve always been a Honda fan and think they make the best machine on the market for reliably. I don’t think the side by sides are as good as the 4 wheelers, but if they are half as good that would still be pretty amazing. I will always buy polaris for now on though because I’m addicted to speed and they are so much dang fun. Good luck with it and I’m sure it will give you many trouble free years of service.
I had just bought a 2018 pioneer 1000-5. We have a great Polaris dealer in my area and I know a lot of people who own Polaris s/s but I don’t like the idea of belt drive. I owned a couple Honda bikes over the years and really liked them so I decided to buy a Honda. So far I love the machine.
I know you may think the new belt drive is odd. I have a 65 model Melroe Bobcat that is belt drive just like a side by side. If a dump truck dumps out a load of dirt, I can put the bucket down on the original ground and drive through the pile of dirt. A lot of tractors won't do that.
Well you know what they say about Honda... its a Honda! Thrashed my 2019 TRX420FM1 with just over 100km into a ditch last weekend going about 40, destroyed my helmet, and probably would have destroyed myself if I wasn't wearing it, but the quad held up, just had a bent front bumper. Love my hondas!
thank you for sharing your experience with your ranger. Mine just hit 10 years old and I cant believe I still have the damn thing and put up with all of its issues. Even after light riding or towing itll overheat on me. The pioneer and canam are definitely on the list to check out and purchase in 2019.
My Honda Pioneer has been nothing but issues. The motor is back together again and for now it's running good. My 2003 Honda ATV never had an issue. The pioneer has been the oposite and I would be happy to trade it for a polaris at this point.
@@InHotAz I'm a little skeptical. My guess is he treated it like a submarine and flooded the motor. That would be user abuse. Not Honda's fault. To be honest the only issue is the rear diff which clunks sometimes and the doors on the 700 rattle. Well known minor issues which are corrected by using 80W-140 in the rear end and door bumper shims. The rubber door stoppers aren't long enough.
Honda ALL the way! We WORK our Honda’s on our 17K acre ranch. It’s amazing how much work we put them through and they just don’t give up. They are a work horse. Keep up with the maintenance, lube when needed and they just dont give up
Never was a believer in belt drives. Slips when stretched out after some use. Only thing replaced on my Honda 1911 420 have been battery this year and front inner cv boots! Very reliable machines.
greg b cv belts do not stretch. Unless you’re trying to do a job in high range that should have been done in low, they also wear very well. Our Polaris General only has about 1000mi on it (one season) and zero issues. Our daughters Sportsmen have 2500 and 3700 miles on them. Both original belts. No slipping. My 09 Outlander 800 has 3400 miles on it and has been used for plowing every year since 2010. Original belt. No slipping.
My 2017 Ranger has 840 miles, no problems. Just changed the drive belt today so I had a backup, old one was in great condition. I love my air conditioning and heated cab. You got a Lemmon ranger.
Same problems with my Polaris. It's at the shop now... for another rack replacement. Researching sxs for a replacement and looking at the Pioneer, came across your vid.
Got a 2003 Honda Foreman 450. Replaced a carb on it and thats it in 17 years. Needed a carb from sitting too long. Things a beast. I'm looking at a Mule 4010 4x4 now.
i own 2 ranchers and a pioneer 500 the only thing to ever break was a sticker yep a 48 cent sticker honda warranty to a hit on that one. only thing is change the oil and filters and have fun with a honda or spend time fixing your polaris
@@kong3 I run them hard at our cabin, I laugh when the other guys have to spend 50 bucks on an oil change and when i tell them how cheap honda filters and oil is- I can see the tears in their eyes. They wish they had thought thru it when they bought a polaris as those are the little things that make Hondas #1 ask any small engine mechanic.I did and they all said HONDA HONDA HONDA or get ready to fix it.
I'm learning this lesson now. I just bought a used Polaris, thinking it needed a couple of fixes. I spent three weeks peeling back layers of problems from this onion. At this point, I only hope it lasts me 2 years until my tractor is paid off. I'm planning to buy a Pioneer as soon as it is.
Thanks Troy. Enjoy your side by side. Their a nice product I've yet to own one but I know Honda makes a mean machine. My brother bought a Pioneer in 2016. He Has had good service with it too. I think Honda waits to come out with these ATVs to see the demand of what they sell. And when they do come out with the latest and greatest they do it right the first time. No time for trial and error but get it right, right from the start. That's my opinion. If I ever do get a side by side it'll definitely be a Honda. Thanks for your input.
Yeah but only thing is when they do come out it's to little to late. I love Hondas I've never had an issue I didn't cause. I think with the pioneer they kept it a little safe.
2 years now I've been researching. For the $$$ they run I want to be darn sure. Already have a toy or 2 but they're older. Every time I get antsy to buy I have to reel myself back. West coast the complete sports machines, east coast the more trail / sport ute flavor. It's tough.
I had the same experience with my old Polaris side by side after two years. So i sold it out right and got a Kubota RTV 900. I have had no problems with the Kubota on my pig, goat and fruit farm.
i work as a technitian for a dealership in eastern canada and the only issue i have seen with them and keep in mind this is one out of all that we have sold, is the dual clutch transmission. to be more specific the clutches. they are a multi disc wet type, like what you would find in your typical motorcycle, burnt out, honda canada might be adding an extra year on the warranty for free because of this issue, however this being said, hondas are tough rigs for sure. the kawasaki side by side are also belt driven but have a tremedously more effective engine breaking capability. good honest review, keep up the good work and best of luck to you
I have a 2016 pioneer. I bought extended warranty and I just got a letter in the mail not long ago saying I get an extra year of warranty. I’ve always owned Honda’s (except for a lapse in judgement with another brand of side x side before I got the pioneer)and always had good luck and have always been treated good at the dealer. Goes to show how Honda is loyal to their customers. I’m not into bashing other brands but with my “mistake” side x side, it was the biggest piece of junk I ever owned and it was always a fight for warranty and it always ended with them paying for the parts and me paying for labour. Never had that problem with Honda.
@@johnblanchard5903 sorry gear on gear vs cvt the Honda is going to have better engine breaking due the fact you can hold it in specific gear plain and simple.
I had a Ranger and I liked it, but I experienced some of the same things you did. Mine had an easy life, as well. I traded for a Honda and so far no problems the first 1000 miles.
Bought my SXS in 2014. I wanted a 4 seat for my grandkids. There weren't many options in 2014. Honda had just come out with the Pioneer. My buddy had one as a work vehicle for well sites. He hated it for one reason and that was power, no diff lock or low range. I never considered Polaris because of all the horror stories and as long as a car. Yamaha had no offerings. I did a ton of research on the TeryX 4. Positive reviews were the norm, plus they were the first to offer a 3 year warranty. I bought the T4 and have never once regretted it. My riding buddies call it the "tank" and it will go anywhere this 62 year old points it. They are loud and hot but it doesn't bother me. The fit and finish are second to none, plus the Fox Podium shocks, power steering and Maxxis Big Horns came standard on my machine. Five year later and not a single issue. Needless to say, I love my TeryX. For the record, my 2006 Honda Ridgeline has 180k miles on it and runs like a new one.
Back in 2003, I bought a brand new Honda Foreman after owning a Recon. Also after riding my cousins Big Red 3 wheeler on their farm. A little while later my brother bought a big Polaris atv. He left his atv at my house so I was able to drive it. The Polaris instantly had some issues. He ended up trading his Polaris for a motorcycle and over 17 years later I still have my 2003 Honda Foreman. I use it to plow, pull carts, skid logs and just to ride. I have skidded a lot of logs with it. I would never give it away or buy another brand after owning it. I wish I would have bought two back in 2003.
I have both a polaris and a Honda pioneer as well as a Honda rancher atv. I don't have any repair issues with the hondas. Polaris is always something leaking or needing repair. I treat them well except for the honda Rancher which I do abuse but still it never breaks.

Honda just makes quality equipment in so many categories.
Just bought a Honda Talon R...Love the paddle shifters!! Looks and rides Awesome!!
When it comes to small engines and vehicles, Honda is hard to beat.
When it comes to reliability, bitch..... honda!!
Good deal! I hope mine offers the same benefits.
You can’t beat a Honda.I know a lot of people that have polecat rangers, always have problems.Have good week.
i have a honda atv its see 3 of my kids growing up riding the hell out of it....now i ride it ...im 59 yrs old and the honda is still running strong.....never quits
All my hobby farm equipment is now Japanese.Sorry America, your engineering doesn't cut it sometimes.
moultonditcher
1) the 800 was one of Polaris’ worst motors.
2) I’ve had polaris in my stable as well as can am & honda. Never had any oe wiring issues with the polaris. As for clutch noise, the only time I’ve seen much noise out of popo clutches is when they’re completely neglected or people are in the habit of tooling around @ 10 mph in high range.
i dumped polaris too back in 2008 too many failed parts
I used to be 100% American with almost everything. I want to support my country... but damn... over the past 15 or 20 years American made stuff has dropped in quality and most larger items are full of stuff from China anyway.
I think the only thing i haven't changed on my 2011 ranger 800 XP it the plastic. will never own another Polaris
100%
I loved my Polaris when it was running.
I must be really lucky. My 2017 Polaris Ranger 1000XPS Crew has been trouble free.
I think he could have just got a bad one. I’ve never had any problems with my Polaris atv’s
my ranger is a shit box with no love from me.
I have a 1987 Honda Foreman 350 4x4. Starts and runs great still. I hope the new Hondas are still designed and built as well as the old ones. I'll definitely check out the Pioneer when it's time for a SXS.
This machine should treat you well for what you're using it for, best of luck.
I hope so!
Their quads are the same. I'm not a Honda fan as it lacks the power I want but polaris service is horrible that's for sure.
By far one of the best videos I have seen. It is refreshing to see someone just tell his own story without all the bashing of another product. Well done and thank you sir.
you were born to do review man please do some more. Excellent !!!!!
Honda best on earth will last for ever I have a 1984 200 Honda big red runs like new
They never die
I've been a Honda owner since 1972 never had any complaints
I have a 2005 Polaris ranger and it basically has been bulletproof since I had it. Bought it brand new.
Back Creek Cabin, We had a 2013 Polaris Ranger 500 , absolutely wonderful machine (utility and for recreation) we recently upgraded to a Polaris XP 900 and couldn't be more pleased as well :)
Of course. They're not disposable. Just not as good as a Honda, tho

Thanks.
I have an 06 since new . Never had an issue. Best machines on the planet
I’ve landed on several of your videos while cruising through my various interests like when you rebuilt the utility trailer. I enjoy your well-spoken, informative, and witty videos that make it feel like a dialogue rather than just you. Definitely subscribing now. Appreciate your work and keep it up!
I have a 2 Polaris Rangers one is five years old and one is brand new they work seriously hard and have not had one problem
Nothing like my Kubota RTV 1100, heat/ac even a DVD player to listen to much Pink Floyd while working the properties.
And go only 20mph. Just joshin ya man. My father in law has a Kubota RTV And it’s a great machine
Ol’ faithful - slow but bulletproof :-)
Look into kubota rtv I have an 1120 and I absolutely love it. I pull a 2 bottom plow with it as well as a ton of other implements. I have had it for just over a year and so far no problems.
I've never been a fan of a snow mobile drive in a 4 wheeler. I've got a Yamaha Kodiak. 15 years old and running strong. Love those Hondas!
Bought a 2018 Pioneer 1000 last spring, amazing machine!
I've had 2 Polaris side by sides, a Kawasaki side by side and now a 2016 pioneer 1000 since new. It's be far cheaper to own and does a super job on the out back.
Had sense enough to buy a Honda from the start in 1974. Never been anything but a Honda. My last purchase was a 2018 Pioneer 700.
Have 13,000 mile on my Polaris ranger not one breakdown. Service and changed the belt twice still going strong
I don't believe you.
@@davidlaseter2079 that is not me
Finally someone tells the truth about polaris
Derek Bedford could of asked me a long time ago I could of told ya the truth haha
I bought a Honda Foreman new in 04 to plow snow. 2021 I put a carb on it and new tires. It is like new. 1284 miles. Best machine I've ever owned.
I had a John deer, the same odd issues ruined the experience... jd finally fixed it after I threw a fit, and I got rid of it. Honda, they look amazing, thanks for the review... I will def go with them next time.
I have 3000 miles on my 2014 Polaris rzr 900xp and has been going strong
I love my 2018 Honda Pioneer 1000-5. I believe you will not be disappointed
Don't hate
I had a 2017 Polaris general that had so many problems. I solved the problem and got a 2018 Honda Pioneer!
My Polaris ranger is 2014 900 never had any of these problems 150 hrs and over 1000 miles no issues
Same. Bought a new 2013 900XP when they first came out. No issues other than my own stupidity. Lol
1000 miles and no issues is good as its still basically new. Check back in 5 or 6K miles.
I do 1000 miles a year at least just running traps. I wnt something that will last more than a couple years especially at the price they want for them..
Im looking hard at the Yamaha Wolverine.
I have a 2014 Polaris Ranger xp 900 , bought it new , it’s a beast , no troubles love it
I have the 2018 ranger 570 full size. It’s a pain to clean and to change the front demand drive fluid. Think I’ll get a Honda next. I like how the under carriage is covered from mud and debris
That cover traps leaves and it catches on fire. Been there done that with my pioneer.
NutritionFacts1979 can u give me some info on how ya made them? I was gonna tack some really thick pond liner up but not sure
I have the same Pioneer. Bought it in June of 2019, I've put almost 3,000 miles(some pretty hard). All I've done is change the oil and took it in for the recall on the steering column. Great great product.
I don’t like cvts so as long as Honda keeps making atvs with actual transmissions they will be my only option.
Polaris’s Xp kinetic could be better for you. Diff transmission
You got the right machine. Ive hot an 87 gourtracks and it it is still our farm mule. The true gold standard is the CanAm.
I’ve had my Polaris side by side for five years and have had no problem
You got lucky lol I got a ranger 570 and it’s a turd. Switching to a canam or Honda here soon.
I literally had to go to the dealer and get a new quad because my farm work was getting way way behind bought me a canam outlander 650 and I love it! going to hopefully trade my pos ranger in next year for a real side by side like a canam defender or Honda Pioneer.
john doe the 570 is garbage if you going to by a actual running good machine you got to by the xp 1000 it’s a champ
Your probably a Polaris dealer!!! This is a hump of pile of shit! I wish I Heard of the Polaris brand!
@@markb5580 I’m not I’m just saying I’ve never has anything wrong with mine
Remember that old commercial back in the 70"s. "You meet the nicest people on a Honda". Just a memory.
How about an update video on your pioneer?? I would love to hear how its working out for you! I have 2 pioneer 700-4's and am considering upgrading to the 1000-5
Just hit 20000 miles on my 2016 pioneer had to replace one wheel bearing good machine
I don't trust a guy this honest.
J/K. Great video. Everytime I think about buying a Polaris I re-watch this.
I had a 98 shadow ACE. Loved that bike. Sold it to buy my tractor!
You'll enjoy it when the clutch goes out.
Ridge Runner I hope that doesn’t happen.
@@patrickpowers1354 I do too, be careful with it.
I know you may think the new belt drive is odd. I have a 65 model Melroe Bobcat that is belt drive just like a side by side. If a dump truck dumps out a load of dirt, I can put the bucket down on the original ground and drive through the pile of dirt. A lot of tractors won't do that.
I had the 450 forman 2001 and haven't had to do a single thing except some new tires. I'm extremely happy
Good audio, good camera angles, excellent narration. Kudos sir that’s how to make a youtube video.
thank you for sharing your experience with your ranger. Mine just hit 10 years old and I cant believe I still have the damn thing and put up with all of its issues. Even after light riding or towing itll overheat on me. The pioneer and canam are definitely on the list to check out and purchase in 2019.
Thanks I’m just beginning my search for a side by side. 20 yrs ago I had a (forgot brand) belt drive side by side. Never again!
My Honda Pioneer has been nothing but issues. The motor is back together again and for now it's running good. My 2003 Honda ATV never had an issue. The pioneer has been the oposite and I would be happy to trade it for a polaris at this point.
Can you list what problems you had with the Pioneer?
I have been researching for months trying to decide what SxS to buy. If you can list the issues that would be great. Thanks
Keep up with the maintenance, lube when needed and they just dont give up
This Honda pioneer has some Honda Automotive Division Technology in it. ❤️
Where I am from Honda is all we buy. Polaris has many issues and cost way to much to fix. You made a great trade man.
I don’t know about stretching but everyone I know with belt drive ATVs complain about slipping and burning.
My 2017 Ranger has 840 miles, no problems. Just changed the drive belt today so I had a backup, old one was in great condition. I love my air conditioning and heated cab. You got a Lemmon ranger.
My honda is 34 years old runs great
Same problems with my Polaris. It's at the shop now... for another rack replacement. Researching sxs for a replacement and looking at the Pioneer, came across your vid.
I love my 2011 Polaris Ranger.
Did you ever take the bubble wrap off those machines?
@@kong3 I run them hard at our cabin, I laugh when the other guys have to spend 50 bucks on an oil change and when i tell them how cheap honda filters and oil is- I can see the tears in their eyes. They wish they had thought thru it when they bought a polaris as those are the little things that make Hondas #1 ask any small engine mechanic.I did and they all said HONDA HONDA HONDA or get ready to fix it.
I love my 420 rancher
I'm learning this lesson now. I just bought a used Polaris, thinking it needed a couple of fixes. I spent three weeks peeling back layers of problems from this onion. At this point, I only hope it lasts me 2 years until my tractor is paid off. I'm planning to buy a Pioneer as soon as it is.
That’s a good decision
HONDA power!!
You cant beat honda reliability I'm on my 2 Honda pioneer only sold to upgrade from the p500 that I loved to a 700-4 I love it
I've never had a problem with my 2015 ranger 900 but I dont doubt for a second that honda is more reliable
Love your video buying a Honda 700 Pioneer this week. I have owned lots of Honda products through the yrs. and they are very reliable 😁🇨🇦👍
I agree. I have had a quad, a street bike, and now a side by side by honda. Happy so far.
Yeah but only thing is when they do come out it's to little to late. I love Hondas I've never had an issue I didn't cause. I think with the pioneer they kept it a little safe.
Wow! I'm... well was going to pick one up tomorrow. You saved my bacon. Thank you.
Good to know all the issues you had. We're doing research for purchasing a utility vehicle in the near future.
Thanks!
2 years now I've been researching. For the $$$ they run I want to be darn sure. Already have a toy or 2 but they're older. Every time I get antsy to buy I have to reel myself back. West coast the complete sports machines, east coast the more trail / sport ute flavor. It's tough.
0800-0900hrs
Tom A get a honda p1000. Or a yamaha wolverine. Stay away from 4 seat machines. They suck
Buy a Honda !
I had the same experience with my old Polaris side by side after two years. So i sold it out right and got a Kubota RTV 900. I have had no problems with the Kubota on my pig, goat and fruit farm.
Hey buddy you could have saved your money on the 6 year warranty I doubt if ever need it.
I debated back and forth but the Polaris issues spooked me so badly I went ahead and purchased it.
i work as a technitian for a dealership in eastern canada and the only issue i have seen with them and keep in mind this is one out of all that we have sold, is the dual clutch transmission. to be more specific the clutches. they are a multi disc wet type, like what you would find in your typical motorcycle, burnt out, honda canada might be adding an extra year on the warranty for free because of this issue, however this being said, hondas are tough rigs for sure. the kawasaki side by side are also belt driven but have a tremedously more effective engine breaking capability. good honest review, keep up the good work and best of luck to you
Chief and me Dirt bike riders he can probably turn it back in for a credit. That’s what I did- full refund.
I liked the Ranger too. It definitely shifted smoother.
Love my 16 t4, they are built tough and go everywhere my Polaris friends go.
Love my new 2019 T4 I bought for the family.
When you observe the shop and Polaris was the only one being work on that should be a good indication ,which to buy.
Not being used ( Polaris ) this makes more sense.
Two years after making this comment and I still have my Honda Foreman. It has 10,059 hours on it with no problems.
I have both a polaris and a Honda pioneer as well as a Honda rancher atv. I don't have any repair issues with the hondas. Polaris is always something leaking or needing repair. I treat them well except for the honda Rancher which I do abuse but still it never breaks.
welp, that sealed the deal for me. thank you
You just got yourself a subscriber , helped me make up my mind . My old man always swore by Honda
