A scene from Fallout 2 that I absolutely loved. Decided to fire up the ol' Source Filmmaker and recreate it. Also put some more modern touches into it with mostly-Fallout 4 inspired UI -- but really, it mostly just gave me an excuse to practice with some things in video making.
Been a while since I have last uploaded a video. A long while. I know that I'm more than a year overdue for a new episode of Spinning Egg Zone, there's some complications getting that completed. Some things been moving forward lately, but we'll see.
Until then, I've been thinking about making more Fallout-related content and perhaps not just animations (I love doing animations, but there's a very limited supply of SFM content for Fallout out there, plus animations take forever.)
Anyway, I'm trying to keep myself from getting too rusty. I hope you enjoy this mesh of random experiments.

Absolutely. This is, I feel without exaggeration, one of the most well acted lines in Fallout history. Is it the absolute best? Debatable. But it's in the running.

@@koala2075 honestly the only 4 quotes that I felt were really memorable Red Eye quotes from Nuka-World. And the ones from Kellog's memory since he talked a bit about the West, but I'm biased.

I love how he goes from casually chatting, to stuttering in anger, to threatening to trace you and send a squad to kill you, navy seal style.
To be fair, he actually has the ability to fulfill his threat. At least with the restoration mod.
i like how his voice acting is better than most voice acting in games today, it sounds so genuine and real
@@Wittymations Even without the mod, I'm almost certain that if you return to the area either immediately or after some period of time (can't remember), anything that was there is dead and gone upon said return.
@@Gogglesofkrome I don't recall anything like that happening in 2. Although, something like that does happen in Necropolis in Fallout 1.
RedMatter That was supposed to happen in the final edition but it ended up being a bug from Vault City’s main quest, any ending for it makes that happen, even the good ending.

@@Lifeseeker123 the enclave formed from the highest echelon of US industry and governance when the president evacuated the white house and ran the nation from Control Station Enclave, a poseidon oil rig. In essence, the enclave are truly the US government, as they were calling the shots for nearly a month before the outbreak of the great war, as evidenced in a newspaper article in Fallout 4.
The brotherhood of steel are also a pre-war group, but they formed as a chapter of AWOL soldiers who were disillusioned by the FEV experimentation program that they were ordered to help run. Their open rebellion was hardly noticed though, as it happened after the west-coast attack, during the new plague, and mere days before the start of the great war. Their goals of containing and controlling the threat represented by technology only grew in scope and scale as the nukes dropped around them. It's fair to say that both groups had a vested interest in the other's destruction since day 1.

To be fair, 4's voice acting was better than 3.

@Magos Nihilus how's usaa even handling the pandemic these days? Most call centers can actually work remote but you can't even bring your phone to the production floor. Can't imagine they're cool with people working from home.

It'd be enjoyable, but unlikely to ever happen. Even modded attempts, like The Story, die.
Honestly, the real reason I want the classics remade is so we can get new fans to actually see the original stories.
Only if they just touch up the graphics and little else. It seems AAA devs focus too much on drawing literally everyone in.
Touching up the graphics and doing little else wouldn't pull in players these days. It'd only appeal to guys like me -- people who can actually enjoy harder turn based RPGs.
The modern Bethesda crowd? Pfft. Good luck.
Given that, it's very unlikely to make a profit. They wouldn't bother.
When people call Fallout 1 / 2 "harder turn based" RPG you really know the good old times are over.
You get overpowered so quick and easy in F1 / 2.
Both are my favored RPGs of all time but they not hard, they maybe "clunky" in terms of ui etc.
If they did Bethesda would fuck it up.

If there ever is a fallout 2 remake with the fallout 4 engine that would be insane!
It'd definitely be interesting. Though, it would take a significant amount of work to make it. Fallout 2 covers to most area in the lore, followed by the original Fallout. The newer Fallouts are kept secluded to a single city (with some light exception in New Vegas - like Nipton, California to Las Vegas, Nevada). Could you imagine the amount of effort it'd take to get South California into a 3D title, much less North? And since the wasteland in Fallout 1 and 2 were pretty empty, Bethesda would have to make a whole lot of minor locations to fill the void. It could work, techically, but it certainly would take a while. Also, the Fallout 4 engine would have to be redone to support skills. Aaaaaaaand, there would be a recast of the voice actors and that'd be expensive -- Fallout 1 and 2 had some high level VAs, including the likes of Jim Cummins and Cree Summers.
Jim Cummings as The Master is just perfect.

Wittymations if the wasteland was empty they could just make it smaller so it would be similar in size to the 3d games. Might feel a bit weird though.

Personally, my "dream scenario" would be a 76 sized map for Fallout 1 with all the locations of the original, plus a few minor cities and random locations.
2 being similar but perhaps 1.5 the times of 76 map.

As someone who loves both the classic and modern Fallout games for their own individual reasons (except, you know, THAT one...), it’s a treat to see a perfect blend of the two like this! The map looks great, the animation’s amazing, and I think it’s very creative that you used the X-01 armor, as I think it raises some interesting theories when it comes to the lore!
And I find myself constantly rewinding to the part where the officer slowly looks at the camera, it’s perfect. Nothing is said or expressed, and yet the body language still manages to speak volumes, so bravo to you, sir!

It's all about delivery. The little dumbfounded stops sell it.
It makes sense, if you don't know who the president is you're likely not part of The Enclave- meaning you're someone currently hijacking a system with the express purpose of fucking up his routine
I love the voice acting. I can't even imagine how did he get the stuttering sound so natural. The pate of emotions on display is amazing. From mildly annoyed that the video feed is not working to amused, finally bewildered and upset and ironically polite.

I did this whole mission and completely missed this in the Gecko Power Plant. Amazing dedication from Interplay to put so much detail into something you can miss.
Particularly since this nugget, itself, requires you to have at least a 50 in science. And science doesn't really have a ton of uses. At least not like speech, lockpick, or any combat skill.

I remember playing Fallout 2 years ago. Sergeant Dornan reminded me of Sgt. Major Averey Junior Johnson. Both were badass legends.

I would love to see Gecko in a 3D engine. For some reason I always felt like Gecko in a 3D environment would look wonderful. Tech bits here, tech bits there, I’d be like a child trying to start up a Aircraft Carrier in hopes of being a Naval Captain. Something that is so huge that I could understand how it would work. I just the thought of it.

SEZ is something I want to continue, but there's been a lot of complications with scheduling with the voice talents and their real life. Being a completely voluntary thing, I can only be patient.
