Welcome to Camp Navarro! - A Fallout 2 Scene Recreation in 3D

- My last Fallout animation, Enclave Here, did pretty well. Decided to create another of my favorite scenes featuring the Enclave. And what's one of the most memorable spots in Fallout 2? Camp Navarro.
And Camp Navarro has the feature everyone's favorite Drill Sergeant in power armor, Sergeant Arch Dornan.
I decided to keep up my theme of doing Fallout 4-styled classic Fallout videos. I think it helps bring together a vision of what a modern Fallout with classic story-lines could be. Personally, I love the idea, but it's probably never going to expand past fan dreams.
I don't know if I'll be able to do anymore of these scene recreations, however.
There's a very limited supply of Fallout-content for SFM, much less classic elements. I can think of a number of scenes I'd like to recreate using this style, but the only reason I could do Enclave stuff is because Fallout 4 has the X-01 power armor, which isn't Advanced Power Armor, but it does look close enough that it's fine. There's no Frank Horrigan, no Master, no Lieutenant, and no classic maps.
The only reason I could make Camp Navarro was because there was just enough resources to jurry-rig something somewhat passable.
This was a challenge to do, by the way. Well over a thousand models put into here just to make a ground for them -- really slowed down the work. I spent a good chunk of time deleting models that camera wasn't looking at just to reduce render time and make it easier to animate in.
Anyway, maybe in the future there'll be more models and thus, more creations.
I lost it when it zoomed in
He's a very intense man.
Lost the armor I trust?

if only Bethesda games where this well animated
@RA Calm down, Jesus Christ.
@RA you think this is worse than what Bethesda has? You think there are no facial expressions? I shall prove you wrong.
One, he’s wearing a goddamn helmet what did you expect
Two, Bethesda’s animations are half rendered facial movements with no lip syncing.
Three, Bethesda’s hand expressions consist of the characters extending their arms outwards a bunch. No pointing or saluting or literally anything.
If Bethesda tried doing something like this, they could be better.
But right now that hasn’t happened yet.
Also Bethesda also doesn’t have camera work or arcs. What’re you expecting a Monty Oum fight Jesus calm down

Ha ha very funny and original joke Like I haven’t heard that one before
This is so good. Makes me think how good fallout 2 will be in modern graphics. Awesome work tho.
It'd definitely be interesting. Though, it would take a significant amount of work to make it. Fallout 2 covers to most area in the lore, followed by the original Fallout. The newer Fallouts are kept secluded to a single city (with some light exception in New Vegas - like Nipton, California to Las Vegas, Nevada). Could you imagine the amount of effort it'd take to get South California into a 3D title, much less North? And since the wasteland in Fallout 1 and 2 were pretty empty, Bethesda would have to make a whole lot of minor locations to fill the void. It could work, techically, but it certainly would take a while. Also, the Fallout 4 engine would have to be redone to support skills. Aaaaaaaand, there would be a recast of the voice actors and that'd be expensive -- Fallout 1 and 2 had some high level VAs, including the likes of Jim Cummins and Cree Summers.
@@Wittymations definitely it's a lot difficult to port them in modern graphics. But I believe if Bethesda wanted to do it they might be able to pull it off.
@@ramisali4957 well, not just graphics. But yes, technically possible. Willingness is another matter.
@@Wittymations I think you could do it in a way similar to what you've done- simply recreate the original locations and make them 3D, and still use an over world map. It wouldn't be feasible to do a single map- it'd break the lore too much. Love what you're doing my dude! Keep it up.

Fallout 1&2 are my absolute favorite stories told through games. Seeing them like this makes me long for a modern 3D remake so I can share them with more friends :D Keep up the great work!
The original Fallout, in particular, had a fantastic - if short - story. Nothing quite like a religion covering up a massive army building under everyone's nose.
But yeah, a 3D remake would honestly be the only way a number of fans would bother.
@@Wittymations I've tried to get so many friends (who've even played and loved newer Fallouts) to play the originals, but just can't stand the look or the gameplay. Hopefully some day a team like Skywind's will come together to work on it!
There's been a couple of attempts. New Vegas mod for 1 called The Story gained some headway. Then died.
Right now, the most likely one is a 4 mod for 2 called Project Arroyo.

Dialogue: "FIVE HUNDRED AND TEN YEARS OLD!"
Animation: 🖐️😠
Even with the Armor on you can feel the Rage immenating from within him
I love how navarro barely looks hidden
Technical reasons behind that.
At the time, I was having to build Navarro piece by piece, resulting in thousands of models, literal thousands, acting as the floor.
This resulted in a massive slow down, so I really wanted to try to not break the animation too much, so opted for lesser trees.
Of course, this was before I learned how to export models from Blender to SFM. Nowadays, I would have just made a single large, decent looking model to be the Navarro floor.
Live and learn I guess
Wittymations yeah man, he animation is still awesome

I feel that he needs a desk for him to smash, but then again he isn't a paper shuffler or a sir....
He's already shortchanged on supplies by said paper shufflers. If he smashed his desk, it'll be months before they released a new one to him. It'd probably also lean slightly too, just enough where he can't put a coffee mug on without it spilling a little.
Just looking at how cool the Enclave is in Fallout 2, it's just bullshit that you can't talk down the Enclave the same way you could do to the Master in Fallout 1. At least you can convince Richard Grey that he's wrong before he blows his own brains out. And unlike Fallout 3, where the Enclave knows who you are and knows to shoot you at first glance, in Fallout 2, you can infiltrate them, down to the point where everyone from their president to random comm officers and drill chiefs believe you to be one of them. So why not go the extra mile and have a very persuasive Chosen One smooth-talk the Enclave into joining the NCR and dropping their genocidal bullshit plans?
Especially when you consider that 1000 idiots in an oil rig and a couple hundred from a military base will wind up dying out due to inbreeding in a couple generations. Meanwhile, if they intermingled with the mutated humans and used their firepower to restore order and civilization to the wasteland, they not only could get more resistance to the harsh conditions of the wasteland, but also gain a larger pool of manpower for workers and cannon fodder. The Chosen One can use that to convince President Richardson that making peace with the NCR is a far better option than allowing less than 2000 people to inherit the Earth and eventually die out from inbreeding.
Sure, have the ending where you blow up the Enclave and feel like a badass, but would it kill them to have an ending where the Chosen One, having seamlessly infiltrated the Enclave, persuades its leaders to make peace with the NCR instead of committing genocide? It would have been a lot smarter and it would go a long way to explain how the NCR suddenly became Imperialistic in New Vegas and how they defeated the Brotherhood of Steel. The NCR becoming imperialists and them defeating the Brotherhood would make far more sense, if they have American government remnants lending them power-armored soldiers to make short work of the Brotherhood of Steel while trying to get them to retake as much of old America as possible.
Suddenly, the NCR going from democracy to imperialism would make more sense, especially if the Enclave joined them and convinced them that they rightfully own everything from California to New England. You can even explain away the Fallout 3 BoS and Enclave by saying that the BoS in Fallout 3 is what's left of the Brotherhood, fleeing to the Capital Wasteland from the west coast after the NCR and the Enclave tried to eradicate them, and the Enclave in the Capital Wasteland was a detachment of troops sent by NCR Enclave leaders back in the west coast, whose goal is to finish the eradication of the Brotherhood and establish a base at the nation's former capital.
Personally, I don't think Frank should have been able to be talked down. He's an obsessive loyalist even BEFORE being exposed to FEV.. And New Vegas (especially Dead Money) suggests that Mariposa FEV makes super mutants require a leader, a master, in their life. Whether that's The Master, Marcus, Tabitha, Elijah. In Horrigan's that's Richardson.
But there's ZERO reason you couldn't talk down Richardson. He could give Horrigan the order to step down.
There's Curling, I guess. Able to convince him.
@@Wittymations Frank Horrigan is just a pawn. He'd swallow a live mini-nuke if Richardson told him to do it for God and country.
That's the point. Richardson is just a man. A man who the Chosen One should be able to persuade. If the player can talk down the Master in Fallout 1, the Chosen One, especially a version of the Chosen One that specialized in persuasion, should be able to persuade Richardson that what he's doing is wrong. Especially since the Enclave's plan is to repopulate the globe with what, 1000 people on an oil rig, and a few hundred from Navarro? They'll be dead from inbreeding and the elements in a couple of generations. Give it a century or two, and you'll have the Enclave's people be staffed with retards who end up bleeding to death from paper cuts. That would end the American Dream in a rather poor footnote.
But if they join with the humans who have only a tiny bit of mutation within them, not only would that diversify the gene pool, but they'd have a larger amount of people for workers and soldiers. Not to mention that any other threat can be dealt with using the Enclave's sheer firepower. Eden's Enclave was pretty tough despite it being a remnant of Richardson's Enclave. Imagine how powerful in the wasteland Richardson's Enclave would be if they decided to do what Robert Edwin House did and simply civilize tribes instead of killing them.
As I said, NV's premise of the NCR being an imperialist superpower that gave the Brotherhood of Steel the mother of all ass-whoopings would make more sense if the Enclave joined them. Have a "deal" ending where the NCR and the Enclave join forces, courtesy of the Chosen One, and have that be the canon ending for FO2. Then it would make sense that the Brotherhood of Steel would get hyper-paranoid at wastelanders getting their hands on Enclave tech, which would trigger the NCR-BoS war. And when the NCR has problems fighting BoS Paladins, they'll call on their Enclave buddies for support, and you'll have Enclave troops dressed up in the Advanced Power Armor MK 2 show up with plasma rifles and disintegrate Brotherhood Paladins as if they were target practice. Plus, the Enclave leaders would persuade the NCR that everything in the American mainland belongs to them, which would kick off the NCR's Manifest Destiny routine which ends with them expanding all the way to the Mojave.
How challenging would the NCR be if in New Vegas, you had to deal with GENERAL Arch Dornan as the leader of the Republic's forces? Imagine Frank Horrigan being the final boss for the Legion players. Certainly, he'd be more challenging than General "Wait and See" Oliver hiding behind a group of power-armored NCR troops. Arch Dornan giving NCR players marching orders while Frank Horrigan serving as the final boss for Legion players would spruce things up, not to mention if NCR Heavy Troopers had Enclave Power Armor and energy weapons, that would make them the kind of threat that would be worthy of competing with the Centurions who have armor-piercing rifles and heavy melee weapons.
Hmmm. That would certainly make for a possible interesting position.
Though, I wonder how the politics would play out. Enclave seems themselves as the remnants of the American government meanwhile the New California Republic has a very similar, but separate government. I'm unsure either would view each other as a sovereign.
NCR would not view them as America. And Enclave would probably deem the NCR as an irrelevant nation since they'll probably say secession from the US is illegal and California is still very much under America, the Enclave's, control.
Of course, new vegas could have answered those political questions
@@Wittymations Basically, in my "Deal" ending, the NCR and Enclave governments merge into one. They still call themselves the NCR, but they have an obsession with reviving pre-war America and once they get big enough, like say, once they fully devour the Mojave and give the Legion the same ass-whooping they gave the Brotherhood of Steel, they drop all pretense and re-brand the NCR as the United States of America.
I remember in my own Fallout RP storylines, that's what my Courier did. She took control of New Vegas, helped the NCR beat the Legion, then ran for the position of NCR president. But once she became president, she made a lot of unpopular moves that rankled the NCR elite. She forgave the Enclave remnants, so she can integrate their military strength and scientific minds into the NCR military, angering those who remember tales of the Enclave's brutality. She sent Enclave troops to preserve the unity of Caesar's Legion and saved Caesar from his brain tumor after the Legion's loss in the Second Battle for Hoover Dam, to prevent the Legion from falling apart and causing a massive civil war that would kill hundreds of thousands in the east, which angered widows and those who lost family fighting the Legion. She moved the capital to New Vegas, which is easier to defend and has clear access to hydroelectric power, which angered local elites who were used to bribing the government back in Shady Sands.
Angry NCR military elements and local elites joined forces in a rebellion against the Courier, which included Lee Oliver and the former president Aaron Kimball, while Chief Hanlon and Colonel Moore remained loyal to her. The rebels seized control of Hoover Dam to stop the flow of water and power to New Vegas, which then led the Courier to call on Enclave and Legion forces to converge on the dam and eradicate the rebels. Afterwards, to unite the country, she set the NCR against the California Brotherhood of Steel, by provoking the California Brotherhood by giving away older power armor suits to the locals as well as stepping up production of new Enclave power armor suits for her loyalists in the NCR military.
Predictably, the Brotherhood attacked, and the Courier used that as an excuse to rally Legion, Enclave, and NCR forces against them, and the war against the western BoS united the lands of the west under the Courier's foot. After her success in defeating the California BoS, she had the BoS males executed by NCR Rangers who had a grudge against the BoS, while the female BoS paladins and scribes were given away to Legion officers as wives and slaves. After the war, the Courier capped off her victory by declaring that the NCR is practically America in all but name, so it should become America in name as well. Persuaded by her Enclave allies and advisors, she declared that the NCR is now the United States of America, and she claimed dominance over the entire continental United States, which pissed off the eastern Brotherhood of Steel in the Capital Wasteland when they heard about what she did to the western BoS in California.
@@HolyknightVader999 "They still call themselves the NCR, but they have an obsession with reviving pre-war America and once they get big enough, like say, once they fully devour the Mojave and give the Legion the same ass-whooping they gave the Brotherhood of Steel, they drop all pretense and re-brand the NCR as the United States of America."
Originally, I was thinking the biggest hurdle would be convincing the rest of the Enclave (namely the Enclave Congress) but the mere backing of Frank would probably be enough to make them shut up.
Otherwise, that would actually work. Their government structures are capable. They could likely force a number of North California cities into a couple of states -- like San Fran and Navarro becoming the state of Navarro, giving them Representatives on a federal level. Eventually even getting one of their own elected to president of NCR.
