Am I gonna sit here for almost an hour and a half and listen to you talk about a band I never listened to even when they were a big deal? Damn right I am!
Great video as always - I always thought of FTSK as the MCR of the Neon wave - a band so totally defined by a genre, it was impossible to escape. After the video, I understand why. One thought - I know the Warped Tour lineup goes toward Metalcore/Sad Boy Pop Punk after 2010ish, but I think in the broader sense, it was the Indie Pop (or as I called it, "Hipster Scene") explosion (e.g. Foster the People, Cage the Elephant, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers) that really took over the zeitgeist. The aesthetic went from flatirons and skinny jeans to beards and suspenders. The Maine actually made the transition into this scene pretty well (they were moving in that direction by 2009) and others - A Rocket To The Moon, Quietdrive - tried to without the same success.
FTSK will always be one of my favorite bands and I turn 30 in March 😬. I listen to them regularly to. I saw them in 2019 at Sad Summer in Houston at the White Oak & Jonathan brought me and my hubby in stage for their set. This band has a spot FOREVER in my heart. I'm happy my husband moved us to Texas because they only moved played 2 Texas shows in 2019!
Omg!! I was at that same exact show!! I’ve been a fan of FTSK since I was 16 and I turn 30 in May this year. That show in 2019 was my first time seeing them live and I was so happy to see them. Great show 🔥
Stayed up until 2am watching this! Great videos! Incoming rant... I was a massive ftsk fan back in the day and I completely agree with everything you said, the first album was so good and nothing else could ever live up to it. It was very frustrating to watch as a fan, because UAM was iconic and it never made sense what happened after that. I think they should have finished the weekend series and the self titled was a let down, (sorry guys) they were writing pre teen pop songs back when they were in their late twenties and I never understood why... Jack was a step in the right direction but then they just stopped. I think Caleb definitely wanted to leave for a while, sensed that he had grown out of it. He’s had side projects though, like team was great. It’s a shame, I think what kept me a dedicated fan for so long was that they were so fun and their shows were just the best time. (also justice for get over yourself)
I was wondering if you were going to get it right in the " part 2" and ...you got it all correct. even your thoughts on Jon are sadly true. I was personally a part of that scene, played with them a few times here in DFW and seeing how quickly them AND playradioplay grew so big , so fast when we were all just playing shows to 30 /40 kids. Good work dude, as much I am not personally a fan of Jon and Kyle , the other guys stayed pretty level headed , i gotta admit when i first heard their demos ....I WAS MIND BLOWN. that entire demo was actually recorded in someones living room, not sure if he would want his name mentioned bt anyways... great video tho dude. took me back.
I’m glad this video exists, this band is incredibly underrated. I slept on them until now, even though I’ve had Whoa Oh downloaded on my computer since the early 2010’s. The album “Double Dare” by Waterparks has peeked my interest towards the neon pop punk wave and all the great bands I neglected to fully check out. Love the deep dives on this channel 🤙🏻
I always thought based on their first album FTSK would turn into a pop punk Falling In Reverse with tongue in cheek lyrics, giant choruses and guitar solos. They seemed like they had that crossover rock quality but they turned more pop instead of radio rock… confused.
I was thinking about how much i appreciate your content, and went to follow you on instagram bc i realized i wasnt following, but ended up being your 1,800th follower! 🎉 i love these videos so much and have always wanted to view more content creatora that make videos like this!
When we getting the Mayday Parade video. You made the point about how disappointing Anywhere But Here was compared to A Lesson in Romantics. Jason leaving the band killed imo what would have been a band as big as Fall out boy was at there height
can you do a video on bands like Hey Monday? I know there's more bands in their same vein but I can't think of their names and at one point it seemed like Cassadee and the band was going to be big and just never got there. Great video!
Hey Julian! Love the video! One thing you missed was Austin and Kyle's 2014 release of Cool featuring Dusty Goode. I would love to hear your opinion on this song.
this was a GREAT series, super detailed and i love that you were also along for the ride like i was back in the day. can't wait to binge the rest of your videos!
i actually met my best friend because of ftsk. i was singing hey brittany in the hall at school one day and she chimed in and sang with me. we’ve been best friends ever since.
Oh man I completely forgot about Jonathon getting busted for the fake Rolexes. I can't believe that was so long ago where has the time gone... Anyways thanks for another great video man. I know all this stuff wasn't that long ago but I think it's going to go down as one of those really unique eras in human history.
After seeing Jonathan Cook’s ads for his real estate business, I find it really ironic that for a band called Forever the Sickest KIDS, the frontman now looks like he’s in his 40s.
As someone who casually listened to just a few songs by FTSK based on what I saw on the music channel back then or found on RUclips at some point, and never heard of the backstory of the EP series, "The Weekend: Friday" was a peculiar title but I never thought past it. I was a teen at the time so I didn't overthink it, it was just an album title (didn't know it was an EP back then) I'd log into iTunes. I tend not to question album titles too often. At best, I wonder why an artist titled their album a certain way and assume it's related to some creative decision of theirs (usually when the album title can't be found as a track on the album) and don't do a deep dive unless I'm super curious about them. Without knowing that Saturday and Sunday were supposed to follow, I didn't really care. To me, who wasn't a fan, just a casual listener, I was neutral about that title. There was nothing to be confused about since I wasn't aware it was meant to be a trilogy, nor did I even check their whole discography. I just assumed it was one of their albums and didn't even expect them to have other albums with that title pattern. It could've been a quirky random title for all I know, since they seemed to be a quirky band.
I think them splitting off in 2013-2014 was because they didn't get the recognition they expected with JACK. Also, when I heard that album back when it came out, I wasn't feeling it. I felt the lack of Marc and the other dude played a big factor in how the album sounded to me back then. But I'll give be it another spin. Definitely loved them at their peak and thereafter. Hope to get possibly a final album from them.
Great video!! I've been waiting since part 1 came out, and that video inspired me to listen to Underdog Alma Mater in full for the first time! I'm too young to have been a fan when FTSK was still active, but your videos have really gotten me into them :)
Just came across your channel and huge fan, I remember going to all these shows back in the day love reminiscing. Keep up the good work. Went to all the Chicago VFW bands shows, such a good scene,
u make such captivating videos! i've binged all of them despite not being toooo into this scene growing up - you still make it feel all so nostalgic lol. ur great, keep it up!
Was a teenager when my friend made me listen to one of their songs and I was really surprised that there were multiple singers when I checked their music vids on RUclips. lol
By 2010, there was one sky-blue FTSK t-shirt (the breakfast cereal themed one) on the SALE rack at Hot Topic. Around 2013, I went back to that same Hot Topic and it was still fucking there (priced at 4 dollars).
I think Mayday Parade’s release of the ST after their disappointment on LP2 really drives home how important a solid release with true song quality is to a band in order to save themselves at a critical time, and then the failure to deliver like FTSKs shows how a poor quality release can be that final nail in the coffin in that critical time.
Omg, would you do a video on La Dispute? I'd watch that 100%. Anyway, I'm super shocked that I never heard of the Rolex situation. Truly bizarre. I'm curious to see what their new music sounds like!
Although that's a great idea I don't think there's a lot of controversy surrounding any of the members of La Dispute and that wouldn't make for an incredibly interesting video sadly
So the whole thing with the watches. The lawsuit Rolex is filing is different from being charged by a prosecutor with a crime. The charges in the prosecutor's case were dropped, but Rolex filed a suit against him seeking damages. He can't face jail time from Rolex's suit, as it isn't a criminal charge. Think of a lawsuit more of a "fuck you" but funneled through the government first.
I really like the self titled and the Friday EP... I might be biased though, because that Album has been running non-stop on my car radio on a trip with my wife for two weeks. But yes. UAM is king.
please make a sing it loud video! they were my favorite band from this era, mainly because i thought they were so underrated and the guys were really sweet, they dedicated a song to 14-year-old me on stage once lol
I definitely get what you mean with the more dude pop punk bands lol. Never really thought of it like that lol. I totally remember that transition from the neon pop punk era into the more metal core / screamo era lol. I'm curious if there's a way through the freedom of information act, to retrieve other court documents from the district court in North Texas... Anyway... lol.
Yoooooo dude it's Kevin Zerø love this new vid been looking forward to it for a while! Ps. Love the Alerion clip you showed mid way through the video hahahahaha XD
I forgot I took pictures of these guys until I saw them in your videos. They were really nice guys but not very cooperative/didn’t take me seriously. They did fall really hard after releasing an amazing first album.
Also I LOVE Sing It Loud, some of the greatest guys ever. Took a bunch of photos of them and once got stranded after their show, and they so kindly drove me and my friend partially home.
Loved this! Thanks Julian. Quick question. Why did Get Over yourself never get a proper mix and mastered release? I think it would be so good. Wish it was on Spotify😭
hey Julian, you should make a video about the band "cashcash''! btw, nate the bass player from sing it loud was so chill! he always remembered me when they would come to town and he would let me chill with them at their merch table, chill guys :)
I got into the band around their second album and when I first discovered the weekend Friday I never thought anything about it except a weird album name
Ah yes another Cozy Representative video i may be a day late but I'm never too late to smash cones jam Skyrim and watch yet another fucking sick video 😂
BINGO
"Approximately 12. Anywhere between 12 and 12."
Definitely do a Rise and Fall of Alternative Press
Am I gonna sit here for almost an hour and a half and listen to you talk about a band I never listened to even when they were a big deal? Damn right I am!
It’s cool that you compared “bro” pop-punk killing neon pop-punk to grunge killing hair metal.
I thought the same! Great comparison
In very similar times too, after the turn of a new decade. From flashy bands to minimalistic mellower bands.
Great video as always - I always thought of FTSK as the MCR of the Neon wave - a band so totally defined by a genre, it was impossible to escape. After the video, I understand why.

Dude, please do an episode on Owl City... Do it for the culture, fam.
YESS please!!!!
Man if he does we all going into a time warp to 09 and I’m sure as hell not coming back from that 😭
The unfinished EP series would've worked perfect nowadays with the Spotify era :'(
I’ve listened to Underdog Alma Mater 50 times since your part one video. Lmao I forgot how great that album was.
Also, big ‘yes please’ to the Sing It Loud video!
Same
FTSK will always be one of my favorite bands and I turn 30 in March 😬. I listen to them regularly to. (also justice for get over yourself)
After the Fred interview, Rise and Fall of Taking Back Sunday seems only fitting..
Most of they People going to their shows are there to hear the old stuff played and they can’t do that very well anymore. So yeah, It’s fitting
"If we like to strip down to it, kids will like to strip down to it."
Not the best quote to have in a video interview.
I was wondering if you were going to get it right in the " part 2" and ...you got it all correct. even your thoughts on Jon are sadly true. Geoff Rockwell?
@@benxgoh yup.

I would love to hear you go on a deep dive of Mayday Parade! You have been teasing me by mentioning them in so many video’s! Lmao.
I was thinking about how much i appreciate your content, and went to follow you on instagram bc i realized i wasnt following, but ended up being your 1,800th follower! 🎉 i love these videos so much and have always wanted to view more content creatora that make videos like this!
These videos are so informative, so nostalgic, so sad. I love them!
I'vr been waiting for this. And after the first part came out. I got underdog alma mater for christmas.
I've been so looking forward to this video! So, I'm all 'cozied' up and, ready to enjoy it.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Administration!
you're my favorite youtuber. high quality video as always.
When we getting the Mayday Parade video. You made the point about how disappointing Anywhere But Here was compared to A Lesson in Romantics. Jason leaving the band killed imo what would have been a band as big as Fall out boy was at there height
Best deep dives in the game, would love to see Cozy and Note To Scene link up
I have tears in my eyes from one of the segments where you're roasting The Weekend Friday 😭😂
can you do a video on bands like Hey Monday? I know there's more bands in their same vein but I can't think of their names and at one point it seemed like Cassadee and the band was going to be big and just never got there. Great video!
Hey Julian! Love the video! One thing you missed was Austin and Kyle's 2014 release of Cool featuring Dusty Goode. I would love to hear your opinion on this song.
Can you interview Jim Atkins from Jimmy Eat World? He's got his own RUclips podcast if you want to check it out.
this was a GREAT series, super detailed and i love that you were also along for the ride like i was back in the day. can't wait to binge the rest of your videos!
Never even heard of this band before BUT breakdown is an absolute banger my guy! Btw Cozy is up next fr
Also yes, make a Sing It Loud video
I mean, that Asking Alexandria breakdown clip was dragged on… Are you hinting towards an AA retrospect??
He was :ooo
i actually met my best friend because of ftsk. i was singing hey brittany in the hall at school one day and she chimed in and sang with me. we’ve been best friends ever since.
The local prosecutor prob dropped the criminal charges against Cook. That doesn't mean Rolex can't still sue him for damages.
Oh man I completely forgot about Jonathon getting busted for the fake Rolexes. I can't believe that was so long ago where has the time gone... Anyways thanks for another great video man. I know all this stuff wasn't that long ago but I think it's going to go down as one of those really unique eras in human history.
obsessed with that controversy edit
"Urgent" is a great way to describe the songs on alma mater
I seriously look forward to all of your videos, you definitely deserve more recognition!
Who tf disliked this already I just wanna talk...
This gives me huge amount of nostalgia but also makes me feel old and kind of sad
After seeing Jonathan Cook’s ads for his real estate business, I find it really ironic that for a band called Forever the Sickest KIDS, the frontman now looks like he’s in his 40s.
he always did look older tbh it’s always why the friday ep cover looked weird
just looked at his Insta and was not expecting that much aging

Thanks for taking the time to do the research to make these! They are so interesting and nostalgic for my old ass.
Fnally got to finish watching this! SO WHOLESOME. Thanks as always cozy 😃
You look amazing
I hate that i found these videos so late because the past years FTSK has still been in my top yearly recaps. better late than never
I've been blasting Underdog ever since your first video on them. Thank you Julian!
Helping me get through my shitty days with these hour long videos. Thanks for all your research you put into these. 🙏🏻
I mostly watch for the side rambles
Might be 2 months late but I wasn't gonna miss this. Good job as always Cozy
Thank You Cozy!!! This is a great video! Yet again! I truly appreciate the time you put into these video’s!
I cant wait to listen to this tomorrow when im at work. Im so excited
Yooo I'm at work listening to this right now!!!
I think them splitting off in 2013-2014 was because they didn't get the recognition they expected with JACK. Also, when I heard that album back when it came out, I wasn't feeling it. Right on! thank you so much :)
It’s definitely not just you, I’m still waiting for The Weekend: Saturday 😆
Someone needs to make this man an intro video
u make such captivating videos! i've binged all of them despite not being toooo into this scene growing up - you still make it feel all so nostalgic lol. ur great, keep it up!
Would love a Ready Set history lesson. You’ve mentioned him several times but ZERO videos on him. Would love to see it!
Was a teenager when my friend made me listen to one of their songs and I was really surprised that there were multiple singers when I checked their music vids on RUclips. lol

They talked so much about how it had 12 songs it had 11
i love these videos so much!! great content. would love to see a rise and fall of i wrestled a bear once sometime in the future
They were dope as hell. Wish they would have got around "The Scene" change and came out intensely bigger than they were 😔
Great job man! Enjoyed this slice of pop punk history pie, much love
My only regret with FTSK was getting into them too late after their 3rd LP, and then they stopped touring and I pray for a new tour ever since...
Genuinely think j.a.c.k is one of the best albums ever
I think Mayday Parade’s release of the ST after their disappointment on LP2 really drives home how important a solid release with true song quality is to a band in order to save themselves at a critical time, and then the failure to deliver like FTSKs shows how a poor quality release can be that final nail in the coffin in that critical time.
you said it!

Another fun ride! Thanks Cozy.

I love the long form videos but I want more short ones in between if possible
I really like the self titled and the Friday EP... I might be biased though, because that Album has been running non-stop on my car radio on a trip with my wife for two weeks. But yes. UAM is king.
The hipsters came in and crapped on everything, I’m loving these keep up the good work 👍👍
please make a sing it loud video! they were my favorite band from this era, mainly because i thought they were so underrated and the guys were really sweet, they dedicated a song to 14-year-old me on stage once lol
I love these videos so much pls never stop making them!!!!
I was looking forward to this!
Yes to a Sing it Loud episode!!
Glad I’m not the only one spending hours watching videos about bands I didn’t even listen to
I definitely get what you mean with the more dude pop punk bands lol. Never really thought of it like that lol.
I totally remember that transition from the neon pop punk era into the more metal core / screamo era lol.
Memphis May Fire album The Hollow and The Amity Affliction album Youngblood were some of many favorites from that time lol those albums slap 🖤🖤
I wash your videos like podcast this one take me 3 days i enjoy it alot . Thanks for this content uncle julian ♥️
I am really curious how the civil court case against Cook turned out regarding the Rolex Watches.
A Scribd user posted all 28 pages of the legal briefings and discovery, from Rolex... which included the advertisement Cook had on Craigslist. He very clearly stated that they were 'replicas' and not actual Rolex watches.
His ad included that he had been selling them for 10 years (lol) and, he was purchasing them overseas, to sell here.
Replicas are sold daily. I'm unsure how they feel entitled to 2 million per watch. Moreover, it's obvious he doesn't have that type of money... The fact that Rolex mentioned his band multiple times, I think, they thought his record company would pay out.
Another classic video from you. Loved it a lot ❤️. Would it be possible to do a video on The Format/ Fun.?
I forgot I took pictures of these guys until I saw them in your videos. They were really nice guys but not very cooperative/didn’t take me seriously. They did fall really hard after releasing an amazing first album.
Also I LOVE Sing It Loud, some of the greatest guys ever. Took a bunch of photos of them and once got stranded after their show, and they so kindly drove me and my friend partially home.
the intervew with jack is hiilarious
Love these series as a small time capsule to truly an odd time in pop culture and music. Would love to see a video about the Matches!
funnily enough, Nikki came on spotify during the J.A.C.K part
lmaooo i had forgotten all about crab-core, got a good laugh out of me with those clips
SIXTH
Eyyy Nate didn't expect to see you here
It's the mate! Lol ayyyy
Loved this! Thanks Julian. Quick question. Why did Get Over yourself never get a proper mix and mastered release? I think it would be so good. Wish it was on Spotify😭
We need a video on A Static Lullaby!
hey Julian, you should make a video about the band "cashcash''! btw, nate the bass player from sing it loud was so chill! he always remembered me when they would come to town and he would let me chill with them at their merch table, chill guys :)
I got into the band around their second album and when I first discovered the weekend Friday I never thought anything about it except a weird album name
I saw them at Zumiez Couch Tour! Good times
Want Do You Want From Me is my favourite song by them
I’m not sure if anyone would care but I would loooooove to watch a video about the Audition. They were very up and down
YAAYYYYY I WAS WAITING FOR THIS 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I rly like all these "rise and fall" series
Ah yes another Cozy Representative video i may be a day late but I'm never too late to smash cones jam Skyrim and watch yet another fucking sick video 😂
