He's not super bald. He's from my hometown and I've seen him around. BUT without the wig, it does look like his neck is blowing a bubble, hair or not. But honestly, it was at the height of their popularity.
@@thecozyrep Fallon is not a victim of Dahvie. She was his biggest supporter and defender, she silenced Dahvie's victims on social media. She hooked up with Dahvie when most people in the music industry refused to work with him.
@Jivy He doesnt get a pass. Ive always said Jay and Jeffree Star are guilty, but Fallon is worse than all of them because Fallon was defending Dahvie after everyone had left him, and she silenced many victims over a long period of time.
@@tubester4567 In my opinion Jay was also groomed by Dahvie. The whole time Dahvie also handled Jay's money and bills so Jay may have felt if he left he'd end up on the street
Finally a scene kid covers this!! It’s been infuriating reading comments on other videos about how could this have happened. Any scene kid could tell you how!
These kind of things happen in all scenes lot of the time the scene is to small to make any waves but unfortunately it happens all the time look at r Kelly bill Cosby Ed Sullivan the stats say 1 percent of the population are pedophile rounds small but that's 1 person out every 100 you get a scene like Crunk global 100000 people there will be pedophiles my point is the scene can't be blamed its what happens when enough people are grouped together
I have to say Garrett has my respect for actually finishing the OMFG tour by himself. Definitely embarrassing and scary, but glad he finished the tour for the fans. He also is definitely a good frontman, very energetic and can actually sing. I don't believe a single word Dahvie said about him, a lazy no good member would NEVER finish half a tour by themselves. Garrett has even said he left because he couldn't take Dahvie's bs anymore
@@Return2TheLiving after he left botdf he started a band called Boys Talk Trash, but the project fell through and he retired from music. Safe to assume he currently lives a normal life. I haven't heard of any accusers or investigators like Chris Hansen trying to contact him, which is foolish. He probably has some things to say about Dahvie in his early days
@@Funnivids100 Garrett can't be sued, he's no longer with botdf and his contract must have expired as well as this being a legit investigation. The only thing dahvie can do to Garrett is threaten him with a lawsuit, which will instantly be thrown out since dahvie is being investigated. Unless Garrett gives a false accusation, he's fine in a legal standpoint. But I can see why Garrett would be afraid
Bro never change this format. It’s like I’m having a friend break down everything for me. Crazy that ten years later all the scene kids are now adults (including me) and this channel in some way serves as part nostalgic trip part personal reflection on who I was you know?
Hearing Jay talk about being forced to tour while constantly being sick from HIV treatment instead of being allowed to rest and recover was heartbreaking.
I’d feel more sorry for him if he didn’t happily join the band fresh from his arrest for assaulting a child and participating in a song mocking an 11 year old victim when his band mate is so disgusting everyone knows he’s a predator.
@@GG-kn2sepeople love to forget this little detail just cause once everything blew up he turned on Dahvie. All I have to do is watch the vid of him mocking Jesse slaughter even tho she’s 11 and I can tell he’s just as trash as the rest.
Jay Monroe is actually doing so much better nowadays. He was on Season 3 & 4 of Dragula with the Boulet Brother's & actually won season 4. He does tours with them and does horror drag full time. It's good to see him focusing on himself and his art. He's actually crazy talented. I'm glad BOTDF didn't drag him down or stop him from being true to himself. As much as I grew up listening to BOTDF, I'm glad Jay isn't contributing to himself with Dahvie's predatory nonsense anymore. I still don't know why barley anything has been done about his behavior! But cheers to Jay (Dahli) for succeeding in life beyond all this drama 🖤☺️
Dahli/Jay is non binary and uses they/them pronouns (just in case you didn’t know), but yeah they’re doing much bettter now, I’m really happy for them. They seem genuinely lovely from everything I’ve seen from them/on Dragula!
That BOTDF first album sounds like every Onision 'song' I've ever had the displeasure of stumbling across. Are we sure that Dahvie didn't write "I'm a Banana"?? lol!!
My friend was really into him and "bands" like botdf and I remember him showing me that banana song and it still haunts me. I was into the heavier side of the scene (TDWP, Attack Attack, very early Of Mice And Men, suicide silence) so you could probably see my reaction to that song 😂
Undoubtedly the best Blood on the Dance Floor documentary I have seen thus far. I have been looking into the history of BOTDF myself and the amount of research you've done is substantial and you have uncovered some stuff that I have not found myself (I couldn't find an archived Myspace page before 2008, for instance). And you've done an excellent job of pulling 'noteworthy' moments out of many hours of largely uninteresting video blogs (like the Paramore interactions, for instance), and compiled them here so that we don't need to wade through that garbage ourselves! Incredibly factual and well done.
Little girls that all we're in love with him...that’s ALL! It's no secret that little girls love this androgynous look on guys...just take for example the K-pop Hype...all little girls that LOVE this boys and then just watch how they look( nothing against them really) and I KNOW not all fans are little girls, but 80-90% are, you just have to watch a video of a concert!
Alice Lilith idk why you are bringing up kpop into this. like not tryna argue but i legit don’t understand what statement you were trying to make lol i listened to kpop before it became super popular in the east so im just curious to what you mean?
@@ambz418 that person is talking about the appeal of such androgynous look, and kpop just an example. In Asia, it's not considered as androgynous - yes, however people from outside, its seems odd. Dont take it too personal, I used to be a kpop fan myself.
@@ImCorbi THANK YOU, I couldn't have explained it better. It was JUST AN EXAMPLE....I also said, NOTHING AGAINST THEM, I really think they are talented(that's a big difference to BOTDF) and it's not my kind of music but I totally respect everybody who listens to K-Pop. I just took it as an example because of the appearance.
@@philiphanan1493 Which makes absolutely no sense. I think people ironically hate Nickelback but their record sales speak for itself. Also friend of mine who is a former radio DJ used to have major muscians on when they did shows in our city, he told me that Nickelback specifically Chad was always super kind to EVERYONE at the radio station and to his assistant. Like whether he was on the air or not he was always polite kind, and personable. Otherbands not so much, so people might not like their music or find it repetative but they outright shouldn't be hated because of that.
so true. i remember liking one of their songs in like 2014 but i wouldnt put it on my playlist because even the other emo 14 year olds would make fun of me for it lmfao. then the allegations came out and its been downhill for them ever since, thankfully. i hate to think tho, literally the only difference between him and someone like r kelly is how much their music conforms to social norms. its weird to think if they made more socially acceptable music, we might be hearing dahvie's voice on the radio still. like, am i the only one who feels like Dahvie Vanity walked so Tekashi 69 could run? edit: just checked my old itunes account, it was in fact just one song (rise and shine) and im 99% sure i only liked it because it was about bullying awareness. but now im looking back at the video and it is.... *extremely* fkn concerning, to say the least. like i should not have seen that as a bullied 12 year old, and im really shocked its not age restricted at the very least
He did worse. Some survivors are stating he would spit on them. Like, full on loogie. 🤢 One survivor remembers it like Dahvie was claiming her as territory. Ugh. I can't wait to hear the day this maggot is finally arrested.
All i remember is a friend in school telling me about this great band she loves, blood on the dance floor. I went home and looked it up, and thought the song was so bad i must have found a parody of the real one accidentally. Nah, I had found the real song.
As a former scene kid during the same era, these videos make me feel as if I’m talking to a homie of mine. Your vids bring nostalgia both positive and insightful from the scene days lol. Keep it up!!! (:
Facts and one I got older (almost 20) I let go on some bands like BOTDF, Asking Alexander to an extended, Attack Attack, etc etc but but I kept one band and I enjoyed them to this day Black Veil Brides hell I'm excited about the new album...but I expanded to many genres like violen, dubstep,Japanese metal, metal, rock,nu metal and my personal favorite djent and I appreciate that I left it and mature as a person and music did also and I enjoy it
Not to bring it down.. but, to me it just brings up trauma. As one of his victims, it kinda ruined my scene phase. I hope he gets out in prison. I know he's changed his image when he goes out and don't wear his wig so he's completely bald and makeupless. If the FBI and judicial system won't lock him up, I hope to get everything some person in the streets fucks his shit up
To be fair the entire internet was bullying this 11 year old child, as much as I want to hold that against Dahvie, it was literally a meme to bully her back then.
She was also groomed and molested by Dahvie. She’s so mentally fucked from the whole thing that to this day she doesn’t even realize what happened. She still thinks of him as some jerk ex boyfriend that dumped her, instead of a predator that groomed her then used and abused her
I'm not victim blaming or anything but watching the interviews and what not, I've always been impressed on the number of parents who just allowed their children to hang out with him or go on car rides alone with him. Like,,, bro ur child is 13??
I was so obsessed with botdf back in the day. When I was 13 I had a botdf theme birthday party and their picture was on my birthday cake. It's so cringey looking back on.
Yo i lowkey felt that lol but i was more a botdf fan merch and sgtc cult member on their website, but back in the day i would at hot topic i always get the new released shirts from them i still got the botdf seat belt belts
BlackMageMarc oh my god I have BOTDF seat belt belts as well, they’re the only belts I own so it’s awkward wearing them to work to this day but I have literally no money right now to buy a new belt 😬
Sucks because MSI was genuinely a good band, and now I feel like I can't even listen to them anymore. And where am I going to find a band as experimental and good as MSI without the controversies and unlistenable vocals?
Dude, say what you will about cancel culture, but I'm actually pretty damn proud of this new generation of kids who aren't putting up with the bullshit that mine did. If BOTDF came out today they would have been cancelled instantly and no one would give a shit cuz they're trash. Unfortunately i knew too many peers who would hear allegations like these and say "well they're just rumours" and brush it off. Also they were just a terrible terrible band and i will never understand how anyone unironically liked them.
@Lifesucks! Sodoesgoogle Nah, that's literally scaremongering bullshit. "Cancel Culture" is just what reactionaries call people facing the consequences of their actions. The government has literally nothing to do with it. What we're seeing is social media enabling people to raise awareness virally about the actions of problematic people and making it known that if you're not okay with the shit they've done, be it sexual assault, being a racist shithead, etc - That you should know and perhaps consider not supporting said person. In the case of sexual assault and pedophilia, yes, they'll probably get arrested, but that's not the result of the government engaging in "cancel culture", that's them breaking the fucking law lmao.
@Lifesucks! Sodoesgoogle There's also an important distinction between the "government" taking action against someone and an independent company (which is not bound by the first amendment), like Twitter or RUclips, taking action against people (ie, banning, etc) who break their terms of service. Same goes for a corporation dropping their relationship with a person who's views they think may hurt their image. Worth mentioning since people really fail to understand that corporations aren't bound by those same rules, they make business decisions to protect their bottom line and if someone being racist is damaging to them, they have no legal obligation to continue serving them a platform.
I was a huge fan of scene bands, but i couldn't stand BOTDF. Every show i went to that they were at i went out of my way to avoid their sets and avoided contact with Dahvie while he was out and about. Couldn't figure out why i thought they were garbage, but starting to think my intuition was warning me that he's genuinely a creep.
I grew up in the scene and was a HUGE fan of Blood on the Dance Floor. I went to several shows, and even met Dahvie and Jayy a couple of times. One of the things that always stood out to me was how kind Dahvie was, almost uncomfortably so. When I had a medical emergency at a show, he personally got involved in my care both before the ambulance arrived and after I was cleared to go home. I was 15 at the time and just excited someone famous was paying attention to me. Now, as an adult, I realize how weird and inappropriate it was for a man literally twice my age to be so personally interested in me. I remember adults around me, including other artists and even the other touring members of BOTDF, almost putting an effort in keeping the younger fans at an arm's length, but Dahvie was extremely interested in keeping us in his orbit. I only now realize how weird and scary his behavior was.
“40 ounce”. But considering how trash of live-performers they are, I’m not surprised it got misheard. Half the time you can’t understand what BrokeNCYDE’s really saying.
I always thought Dahvie looked gross lmao even at 15 I thought the dude couldn’t sing and looked like a weirdo. I was definitely a Jayy girl and most of the fans I met were too, so I’m really surprised hearing these victim testimonies about the line to see Dahvie being crazy long and nobody giving Jayy attention at shows.
to be fair even though i wasn't and will never be a fan of botdf, jayy for me was the attractive one at least???? dahvie looks hideous man, like no offense, he really just isn't good looking whatsoever.
clary Jayy definitely was the attractive one. And the talented member. I thought Jayy showed a lot of potential musically, it’s too bad Dahvie insisted on being the frontman of the band.
same i was obsessed with jayy. i’ve heard numerous times in interviews with the victims that some of them started out as exclusively jayy fans but then dahvie finds them and manipulates their attention. dahvie literally uses attractive gay men to lure women in- but without having competition. think about it. garrett and jayy are perfect examples of this.
clicked for the history stayed for the scene kid memories and dgd shirt subbed for more of your content it's nice to hear someone who is familiar with the scene talk about it, because it seems to confuse a lot of the people learning about it now a days without having experienced it. great video.
Excellent video; to me, the saddest part of all of this is seeing these young girls with tears in their eyes, recounting what happened to them with so much emotion--their innocence taken and their lives changed. The best part is seeing people come together to help them.
I was already too old for “scene”, but being active in punk for 30+ years, I understand it. It’s sh!tty when people like Dahvie vanity are in any community
I wish Jeffree star would get called out in the middle of all this, he calls Dahvie a predator and then turns around and acts like they're buddy buddy? Sorry Jeffree but I don't believe for a second that you actually care about these victimized CHILDREN, imagine how corrupted you have to be to turn a blind eye to that the second it's convenient for you. That's beyond repulsive and evil, I'll never support that man don't know why anyone else still is.
Honestly, 2012-2014 was a really rough period for Jeffree Star. He was loosing fans and hemorrhaging money. He almost ended up homeless during that time. He won't ever admit to it, or hint at it, but there's a solid chance he toured with BOTD for clout and cash.
Wow, no ads? That's amazing thank you. Any other RUclipsr would have put 20 ads in this. No bs. I recently watched 2 15-20min videos with 7-10 ads on them I was like holy shit dudes
It would get demonetized either way with all this cursing and copyrighted music :\ i would support him if he wanted to monetize because it takes time to make these videos
Fun fact, where Dahvie's speaking with Geoff Rickley of Thursday, and 'someone else' as Julian worded it: that's Matthew Lillard. Portrayed Stu in Wes Craven's Scream. Portrayed Shaggy in the live action Scooby Doo films. He's a 0pretty well known actor. He seems pretty humbled too.
I'd like to point out that Jayyvon has since become a drag performer under the alias of The Dahli and is absolutely KILLING it with winning Season 4 of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula and even openly speaking about the issues he faced during his run in BOTDF (without actually saying names, of course). So not only was he a big part of their popularity but he has proven that he is a grossly talented individual in his own right
I was so glad when he won! The stories he told broke my heart, but the times I've interacted with him back when he would do IG lives, he was so sweet to me
I'd also like to add if it hasn't. Ash Costello, lead singer for New Year's Day has a couple really uncomfortable encounters with Dahvie. Please watch her interview with Chris Hansen because it is so disgusting that nothing happened with what Dahvie did to her. She's a small little thing. Her mom is involved with law enforcement. They filed a report. Sent files after Ash came out revealing what happened to her, girls starting coming to Ash telling her details of what Dahvie had done to them. It was disgusting. Ash & her mom had a zip drive or something. Filled with evidence. It was destroyed.
Glad to see someone who grew up in the scene like myself actually address this. I'm "Snide", the one who wrote the article about Jayyvon being abused that you used in the video. Dahvie is an absolutely terrible human being, and I'm glad that so many people are now coming out against it. His behavior on the Scene is Dead and Bad Blood tours (both of which I went to in the past) was egregiously awful. Great video, you've earned a subscriber.
what really scares me is that if Hayley was just a little bit younger at the time or if she was at the age Paramore released Riot! at, she could have sadly been one of Dahvie's victims :S
Nah we really need to see a vigilante whoop the ever living shit out of him and then have him arrested and then an “accidental” footage release of him getting the living shit beat out of him in jail lmao
This was well done. I am glad an actual scene kid who lived this era and was familiar with this topic covered it in detail with experiences unlike idiots like pastel belle or others who are just talking about this for clout
im a HUGE fan of the cringe in your voice when you read the lyrics out loud lol, as someone who knew basically nothing about BOTDF i rlly appreciate this video, super informative and complete
This is fascinating to learn as a scene kid poser of the early 2000's (sheltered kid never allowed to go to Warped Tour but loved the music and fashion). Especially in light of current events, you did a brilliant job with this video. Subscribed.
"Sheltered kid never allowed to go to Warped Tour but loved the music and fashion" honestly, same! I even got a job at Hot Topic and attempted to convince my mom to let me and my friend go to a Black Veil Bribes concert but she refused. I had to dye and cut my own hair to late at night or when my mom wasn't home cause it was always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission lol looking back, I can't believe I ever liked BOTDF music. It's so cringy listening to it now.
Same. I tried being scene in Middle/High school, but everyone liked the pale straight guys and their looks more. I was an outcast within the outcasts, it was an ironic time tbh. Now all those scene guys are in jail or addicted to class A drugs. It's so weird.
I hate myself it’s okay- we’ve all been there. When I was 11 my friend had 1 botdf song on her iPod touch and me and my friends would listen to it in the furthest corner of the playground at recess hoping no teachers heard. Lol. I have a quote book I’ve been keeping since I was 12 and I’m positive there’s Dahvie quotes in there. Hopefully our generation will be better about making sure our kids don’t get into stupid shit😂
As much as I wish that I could grow up in the 2000s, BOTDF makes me think otherwise. And today if I was still 11 I would probably do a presentation on MLP:FIM (my 1st fandom) a far better show with very talented musicians in the fanbase.
It's crazy because I remember sitting in my first apartment, 10 years ago from now, and reading about all of this stuff, and the dude still isn't in jail. 10 years.
Probably because of the double jeopardy law. A person can‘t be tried multiple times for the same crime, so they probably want to be 100% sure that Dahvie will lose the case before they arrest him
i remember watching anti-botdf youtube video's back in 2013 and ppl in tha videos talking about this stuff! and now its been 9 yrs and still hes not in jail! so disgusting of our justice system to ignore all this!
@@rhysajbfangal5552 It took 4 years before the cops did anything about Ian Watkins of lostprophets. And literal babies could have been saved from his heinous abuse in that time. 9 years is just... WOW.
I love this video bc watching all the other videos its hard to see how someone outside the scene could really relate to the girls and understand why and how such a turd could be so compelling for females and just the overall normalization of some obscene behavior by everyone in the scene. Not just by the bands, but I remember being a young kid and being into the scene and the 'edgy' sexual talks and innuendos, you would get into thinking you are an adult at that age and joking about sex and sexual things as well as trying to be a part of this 'fun' counter culture. Its hard when Dahvie is so unattractive physically (let alone in general) to explain the slippery slope of trying to be cool and edgy and the normalancy of screaming "fuck me" at a shows when you are 13-16 and 'joking about it'.. to the very real horrible experiences these girls faced. Most people cant wrap their mind around why such things escalated, or they let things go on, or how this was so easy for him to continue with this open secret.
I was a scene kid for a few years, and unfortunately was a fan of BOTDF. :(( Dahvie is not cute. He's literally a fucking troll. He is short AF too. The music is garbage but I guess there is SOME appeal to crunkcore? I guess that was my introduction to the heavy music scene and I wanted to be "edgy/rebellious" as a teenager so I loved what it stood for on the surface. I went to one of their shows when I was like 11/12 years old with just a group of my scene friends, Dahvie was obviously into kids. He signed their boobs/ass, he sexually poured skittles into our mouths, and Im pretty sure he like flashed his ass to us and when we were shocked he was like "WHAT you've never seen a grown mans ass before?" or some shit along those lines LMAO just overly sexual the entire night/show. I stopped liking them not long after that experience.
I also experienced a few BOTD shows when I was 13. He was always with some underaged girls kissing them and touching, making as many sexual jokes as he could.
I mean, crunkcore is dance music and I love dance music so as an adult I listen to Millionaires and some BOTDF songs. Music taste is subjective anyway haha
He is Puerto Rican… Have you ever seen a Central American that is over 5 inches tall? Lol. I live in Southern Californian, and I’m an average 5’7” lady. They all come up no higher than my chest. It’s literally like walking amongst a bunch of Oompa Loompas. 😂
@@Noise_floorxx from what I understand, scene music is basically a (super awesome) mix of hip-hop and some metal core elements. Scene music also usually has some rly weird lyrics
As a cringe scene kid back in 2009-2011, I loved BOTDF. For me, it was that they presented as very queer and accepting and fun, while also appealing to the typical preteen “I’m 13-14 now, I’m an adult!!!” mentality. It is extremely fucked up that these predatory artists pose as “safe spaces” for diversity and acceptance with the intention of grooming and assaulting children. And the shittiest part is- it worked. It worked on me, it worked on a lot of kids. I distinctly remember during warped 2011 (Boise, Idaho) BOTDF was set to play but did not because Jayy was sick. I also recall bandmates or representatives of bands (I think it was Woe Is Me?) hanging out BOTDF CDs for free as long as you destroyed them, which in hindsight is hilarious. As a side note- one the most mortifying experiences crunkcore ever brought me, was that my partner in middle school posted the ENTIRETY of the lyrics of Freaxxx by Brokencyde on my Facebook profile. My dad snooped and found out, and made me sit there (dying of embarrassment) while he read it all out loud. Crunkcore is all fun and games until your dad recites the lyrics in absolute disgust and then you get grounded for being cringe. :) Edit: I also wanted to mention that any time you played BOTDF songs or discussed lyrics, my secondhand embarrassment skyrocketed. OOOOOOOOH boy this shit sucks in retrospect
Lol im barely 21 and I remember the scene too. That shit was poppin' till prob 2015. Man the scene era went on for 3 strong waves. Early 20yr olds lived this too, although us younger ones mostly just got to enjoy the falling action of the era but man shit was poppin', all of this was still very alive in our early teen years
And yeah I know right dude is like he had all that money didn't freaking invested and something that will be able to get him more money like he has his merch going like I don't understand it's like people with lots of money don't know what to do with it. Qh like ong
@@OyVeey like yeah I know a lot of these like yeah I know a lot of their money on stupid stuff don't forget when he had that that other guy with him I can't remember his name he started touring and making music with him when he was 18 and he was using all his money and not even paying him so I think he didn't even have any money I think most of his lawyers and all that stuff is probably free you can get free lawyers and if he did pay for lawyers give them that much you probably got the most cheapest lawyer you can possibly get he was never good with money fyi
I think a lot of people misconstrue how much musicians actually make honestly. Even the bands main staging old Warped Tours weren't making THAT much money. Touring is expensive af and most of a musicians money comes from licensing and advertising deals, which BOTDF was certainly never going to get given their lyrical content. No advertiser in their right mind would ever associate their product with that kinda shit. This is not to mention, as someone else pointed out, the costs of legal fees from the multiple sexual assault allegations against this asshole. Don't get me wrong, he definitely made money but I can almost guarantee you it's no where near what most people would assume.
Highly enjoy your content even when it's about such gross people you really put together a good video. Found you through your Brian Stars video, refreshing to see someone actually from the scene talk about the scene and not make it some big attention grab with a clickbait title and thumbnail.
My younger cousin use to like this band. She liked the electro in it. I played her a Combichrist album in my car and once she heard what talent sounded like BOTDF was no more. She face palms and laughs if anyone mentions that band today.
I didnt expect to enjoy this video so much, thank you for putting a huge chunk of my childhood into perspective, what a walk down s crazy crazy walk down memory lane
This video is so complete. You can tell how much research went into it and honestly seeing anyone who would listen to all of that music and watch all those documentaries and videos just for the sake of one video really shows dedication. I feel like this is much needed information on the subject; in order to understand the history behind it, one must first look at the context and I feel like this video does a really good job at showcasing what was going on at that time.
This was a great video. Thank you. I’m almost 43, at the time they started, I was around 30 years old. I had gotten married, was getting divorced, taking care of a very sick parent, and thrilled that New Kids on the Block had reunited. lol. I am GenX and grew from Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, into Big Hair bands, metal, r&b, and rap, into NKOTB etc and into Grunge, goth etc. My playlists look like they belong to 4 different people minimum. I had NO clue what crunkcore was, or that there was something called crunkcore before this video. I clearly remember the times, and the world, but I’d never been on MySpace once. I think you underestimate how much value your video has. You are 100% correct; kids now are MUCH more aware and informed than we were. They are still just kids though and not necessarily equipped to handle monsters like this on their own. The important part is that they recognize it and hopefully us grownup types will listen when they’re screaming about the monster under the bed. For those older than me, or those younger who don’t understand what times were like, this is fantastic too. And thank you for highlighting the lyrics, my God. I had no clue. He was like this from the very beginning. That means there are probably earlier victims out there. I’m extremely thankful that you listened for me, and thanks to you, I don’t have to. I have a good enough idea. I haven’t seen ANYONE else do a video from this perspective or like this. You have no idea how much you have added to the conversation. You’ve done so in your own way, doing what you do best, and have contributed a unique, insightful, and necessary piece to this evolving story. Thank you again. 💙
Oh my god. The memories. My sister was a HUGE BOTDF fan back in the day (I preferred BVB myself) and she HATED Jessie Slaughter so much and participated in sending hate her way. I was younger than my sister but I remember being really disturbed. What a wild time.
Even though this is heartbreaking because of the victims I still feel nostalgic hearing people talk about the scene back then. Reminds me of so many bands I loved from my teen years, some that I actually forgot about because I’m 29 now, I feel so old 😭. Not botdf though they’ve always been trash to me haha
Dude, you are the realist person I've ever seen on RUclips. Don't change. You've got a great presence and you talk like a regular person instead of someone reading a wiki page.
51:39 That's Mathew Lillard, pretty sure he wasn't in Thursday. However he was Cereal Killer in Hackers, Shaggy in Scooby Doo, The assistant in 13 Ghosts and is a huge D&D nerd who owns a company that makes campaigns for D&D. Dude is chill af
I was a HUGE, and I mean FOOKIN' HUGE fan of BOTDF when I was younger. I listened to their music every day and even did art projects inspired by them and their style. I started to dress more "scene" that "emo" and even had electric blue streaks in my hair instead of the jet black I usually would have. I had merchandise including t-shirts and pin badges and I had two of their albums. Speaking of which, I still have a t-shirt and the two CD albums. I didn't really take in what people said about Dahvie, I would hear wat people said and be like "oh, really?" And not believe it because I knew first hand that people make up atrocious rumors and lies about people they hate because bullies did that to me in school. Now I know he is a real monster and feel bad for buying their merch and albums and supporting Dahvie Vanity. I feel like Jay Von Monroe was a victim of Dhavie Vanity in other ways, as he was a fan of Dahvie from the beginning, that immediately gives Dahvie power over Jay because when you are young and easily manipulated you'll do pretty much anything to stay relevant to your idol and believe their lies. Dahvie knew he had a power dynamic over any of his fans he encountered.
@@IMJUSTWANTTO Yeah I don't know what I'm gonna do with all my old tops, I have so many band shirts of Black Veil Brides and other bands alike and they are sentimental to me haha

EVERYONE knew what Dahvie was doing during botdf prime. I even had an inappropriate interaction with him and I’m blessed that I wasn’t as unlucky as these other girls
I blame people like you who let this predator roam freely for years Just speak tf up when stuff happens Yall scene girls let this rapist go free for years because you were too scared to do the right thing.
I had an ex who liked them an when I looked up the lyrics I found it rlly odd an had big child molester vibes. Nvr understood how anyone ever supported the group
He really was the Tekashi from the 2000s; same hair, same mediocre crunkcore trash, same ugly (face) tattoos, both gremlins with beerbelly and their interest in underage girls isn't too different either-
I went to two shows back in the day with my blue hair and snake bites and I met Dahvie and Jayy and my mother recently brought up the pictures to me, she went to the first show with me and sat in the back with another very uncomfortable mom 😂 honestly though it gave me the biggest panic attack as someone who went through childhood trauma that trusted these people to then have Dahvie hugging me in a picture now knowing what he's done. It sent me into a crying fit. I hope the survivors of him can heal and that he can never create a new victim, and that he rots in prison where he belongs. Anyway, great video, didn't take yourself too seriously but also very factual and respectful. ❤
I just assumed that all “crunkcore artists” were like this. Men in their late 20’s and early 30’s who dress like edgy 14 year old girls from 2007 and aggressively pursue sexual relationships with damaged young girls. Was anyone actually surprised to find out that this dude was doing that shit? When I see guys who look like that, it’s just assumed that they spend at least 30% of their day soliciting nudes from middle schoolers.
I remember being way too young and really enjoying the Epic album and burning the cd to my family shared iTunes and I got grounded off the internet for an entire year
I never bought their music, i limewired it to a cd when i was 15, idk where that cd is now but if i find it the room i find it in will experience the cleansing power of fire and then i might need to burn a load of sage just to be on the safe side. Stopped listening to them when i was about 17 then found a bunch of tumblr posts about dahvies abuse when i was 20 and then sort of forgot about it Find it kinda funny how the people i know who still like his music grew up to be twats.
@fab Pastel Belle is amazing. I saw that CreepShowArt video and it's so dissappointing how things have gone with Chris. I would love to see his career continue and flourish, it's undeniable that simply seeing his name next to Dahvie Vanity's has made so many people more aware of this situation and how serious it is, and that's incredible. But he HAS to do better. He just has to. The mistakes made with the Onision case were brutal. He can't fix that, but can become better and more aware of who he associates with. I just hope that he will.

Cancel culture can be good if used properly, but some people take it to a radical level.
....I hope your generation takes care of mumble rap sometime soon...
@@BoneyardBrigade21 it depends as what you define as "mumble rap"

Subscribed.
thank you so much :)
@@kinariize At least you like BVB a far more talented band and a better lead singer.

I still can’t comprehend the fact that I made a wholeass 10 minute school presentation on Dahvie when I was 11-
I hate myself it’s okay- we’ve all been there.
@@taw2377 I remember having a list of Dahvie quotes in my notes on my ipod💀 I still have my old diaries yoo where I drew shitty fanart in it lmao
You just made my day. Thank you
It’s ok I did a whole presentation on Emerson Barret from Palaye Royale-..never mind he’s a sweetheart
10 years.
It happens unfortunately and it's annoying af
Probably because of the double jeopardy law. A person can‘t be tried multiple times for the same crime, so they probably want to be 100% sure that Dahvie will lose the case before they arrest him
@@dreiecknichtvergessen BRUH IT'S 100% TRUE THOUGH
i remember watching anti-botdf youtube video's back in 2013 and ppl in tha videos talking about this stuff! and now its been 9 yrs and still hes not in jail! so disgusting of our justice system to ignore all this!
@@rhysajbfangal5552
It took 4 years before the cops did anything about Ian Watkins of lostprophets. And literal babies could have been saved from his heinous abuse in that time. 9 years is just... WOW.
This is so interesting as a newer scene kid, it’s like a history lesson 😭
I'm glad i was poor and couldn't go to shows i would have totally when i was like 13-14
Jesus that’s disgusting. What a creep. Glad you got away from that band

Well All Time Low actually makes good music tho

@@Noise_floorxx from what I understand, scene music is basically a (super awesome) mix of hip-hop and some metal core elements. Scene music also usually has some rly weird lyrics
@@Noise_floorxx we also have scenecore hyperpop now
As a cringe scene kid back in 2009-2011, I loved BOTDF.
Edit: I also wanted to mention that any time you played BOTDF songs or discussed lyrics, my secondhand embarrassment skyrocketed. OOOOOOOOH boy this shit sucks in retrospect
I can’t believe you’re 23, def thought you were late 20s like me since you know so much about the scene.
Hey friend, funny seeing you here. 🙋🏾♂️
Lol im barely 21 and I remember the scene too. That shit was poppin' till prob 2015. Man the scene era went on for 3 strong waves. Early 20yr olds lived this too, although us younger ones mostly just got to enjoy the falling action of the era but man shit was poppin', all of this was still very alive in our early teen years
Everybody talk about jayvonmonroe but nobudy remember one of the first band member Garret
Garret Ecstasy. I wasn’t even a fan I know who he is lol
Garrett Ecstacy was the shit.
I remember Garrett. His voice is amazing.

How TF is he living at home w his parents after all the money he made from tours, signings and stole from Nintendo, Disney logos trademarks?!
Cause he spent all his money on plane tickets to fly out random girls
And yeah I know right dude is like he had all that money didn't freaking invested and something that will be able to get him more money like he has his merch going like I don't understand it's like people with lots of money don't know what to do with it. Qh like ong
The lawyers for all those statutory rape lawsuits aren't gonna pay for themselves bro
Found you through your Brian Stars video, refreshing to see someone actually from the scene talk about the scene and not make it some big attention grab with a clickbait title and thumbnail.
ayy thank you so much :) i appreciate it!!

I’m so glad I got into extrême metal as a kid and not this

Yeah I really feel you this was a really deception but is good to have good memories Sometimes at that era
