Not sure if you're aware, but Josh Manuel (Issues drummer) has been watching your videos while streaming on twitch. He's said you are scary accurate with all of your information and thoughts haha. So you have support from the band members that you're documenting 👍
They wanted him (bohn) to sing a ton from never singing before. Kinda hard to be asked to take voice lessons and then expected to sing on a huge album in a short amount of time.
Don't know if anyone has been informed, but Issues has announced that they will be doing 3 final shows in January. Their very last show will be on January 27th in Atlanta. RIP Issues.
It's worth noting that Issues is not over by any means - AJ, Sky, Josh and Lophiile have said the plan is to become a singles band, with each song having a different guest vocalist. But at the same time, Josh is drumming for Bilmuri and John Harvie, Sky is in the Twenty One Pilots live band, AJ and Lophiile are producing for other artists, and all of them have separate solo stuff being worked on. Glad these guys are still making music in general.
AJ is working on a solo EP that’s supposed to be heavy. I heard a couple tracks on a live stream one time. It sounded sick. He’s been working on it for like 2 years though lol
Tyler Carter basically canceled himself. From what i remember hearing, he apologized for talking/texting inappropriately with fans back in the early days. Like literally every band of all time. I love how motley crue and such bands of the past get the pass.
Ah man watching these made me feel old. Austin Thorton also put out 1 track - "All or Nothing" with a band called LifeLike, and it totally sounds like he was trying to do a Woe 3.0, no repeating chorus, buncha chugging guitars and programmed drums. The band kicked him out after that one song, seems like a trend. The Ferris bros had a shortlived band I can't remember their original name but they ended up being called Cursed Sails. Someone else mentioned but Hance had another band - Favorite Weapon - I remember Rise reused the Woe facebook for Favorite Weapon and pissed a bunch of people off. He's currently one of the frontmen for Young Mountain. Bohn and Kevin Hanson did WildHeart, which fell apart before they put out a real release, the frontman for that band TeddySwims has kind of blown up. Now they're in The Villa and they just put a song out (Bad For Me) but Bohn posted some stuff on instagram that makes the future of that band seem a bit iffy. It's kind of funny that Tyler Carter fronted a band that was always talking about being a family and then ends up kicking Michael Bohn out of Issues with the reason essentially being that being in a band is a business and he wasn't doing his job, not much of a family. Skylar Accord is the live bass player for Twenty One Pilots, that guy slaps. Josh Manuel is the live drummer for Bilmuri (a band fronted by former Attack Attack! clean vocalist Johnny Franck) - Bilmuri are sick, would recommend.
Just binged this whole series today, hats off to you for including so much detail and research!! Would love to see a part 5, now that Woe, Is Me has reunited with Michael and Hance, and now that Issues officially called it a day with farewell shows!
38:36 here's my problem with this statement that was made. Michael is already a really great unclean vocalist. They didn't get him lessons for that, they just wanted to force him into a position he didn't want to be in. They just want to position themselves in the right by saying they paid for it, therefore he deserved it. They wanted another clean vocalist is all they wanted. Complete nonsensical statement.
Yeah it was more than obvious they only kicked Michael to be more pop. Implying anything else is insulting to their fans intelligence if we’re being real. To me the last great issues was in 2014, aside from some songs here and there I suppose
That was the exact song I had in mind. When he comes in with that “say something”, it comes out of no where and is a nice break from the riff salad that can be Tyler’s vocals
Not many people know but Michael did a small project where he was the drummer for a band called Wildheart. I believe they only released 2 songs as a band, meanwhile their vocalist grew to be the sensational Teddy Swims
I remember lifeguarding back in 2015 and I had a coworker that barely found out I listened to metal music and he was a huge trap-mumble rap/rnb type of guy When he asked me if I listened to issues I was shocked. The guy put on "mad at myself" and sung every word. Was absolutely dumbfounded
The Headspace album it's the starting point of my career as a music writer, the first album review that's been edited-drafted-published and seen by people worldwide! It's the starting point, thank you Issues!
Conspiracy theory: the guys from WIM hit up Cozy to make this series now and that's the real reason why he put this out before finishing the My Chem series.
The “Right Back At It Again” Tour was so legendary. I remember seeing Issues live for the first time at the show in SLC on that tour and they absolutely killed it. That’s one show I’ll never forget!
That SLC show was my very first concert ever. Went there to see OM&M and ADTR for my 18th birthday, but got introduced to Issues, the band that I would end up watching live more times than any other band in my life hahah

I got to see Issues a little before Tyler got exposed and that shit broke my heart man. I got to meet all of them and even got a video with Tyler while he held my phone and recorded us. 😭
By this time I was already not listening to most of this scene but was still a little in tune with what was going on. I remember I see stars dropping their screamer & liking treehouse but I never realized all this stuff happened around the same time. I a credit to me just growing out of this scene, but I just felt a lot of the warped tour scene died out after this. Or at least I became less aware of the bands like these and new music. They are all great people,I believe Tyler was caught up in alcohol abuse and not himself, either way the cosy rep brings the realest (lol)thanks for this video and bringing light to these amazing musicians! They are all great musicians and people!
In case anyone is wondering, here is what some of the ex woe is me and issues members did after their departures: Hance Alligood (last woe is me clean vocalist) was in a band after he left woe is me called Favorite Weapon, they released an album through rise in 2014 and as far as I can tell never did anything else. As far as his solo stuff goes I couldnt find anything besides some covers he did. Michael Bohn after the Issues departure (as cozy also briefly mentioned) started a band with ex Woe is Me guitarist Kevin Hanson called WildHeart (fun fact he was the drummer) as far as I can tell they disbanded after releasing a few singles in 2019. In 2020 these two started another band called The Villa and I believe they are still active to this day. Tyler Carter after getting kicked out of Issues started a duo project with Attila guitarist Chris Linck under the name Emerald Royce which is still active and he also does some solo stuff ig. As for the other like 20 ex members of woe is me and issues I have no idea but I hope they're all doing good cause they gave us some great music.
Favorite Weapon called it quits and Hance is in a new band called Young Mountain now, I think he became a dental hygienist in between Favorite Weapon and Young Mountain
OH BOY DO I HAVE SOME NEWS FOR YOU! WOE IS ME is teasing a comeback with the ferris brother's, hance, Michael, a guitar player and Austin.. THE RABBIT HOLE GOES DEEPER
I got a lot of respect for the members. They just straight up said "yeah we believe the allegations, bye dude." And kicked the f*cker out. Way to f*ck it up for the funs and your band, dude. It's literally costs $0 to not be a creep.
The fucking nostalgia is hitting me on this one. Easily the band I saw most between 2014-2019. Insane. What could’ve been had they gotten out of their own way.. Side note: I’m in that crowd at 20:55. They played a small festival headlined by BMTH and OM&M in my hometown and it was the first time I had seen Issues live. So insane to think back on.
I'm actually stoked, dude. I met Michael at a festival when he was touring with Issues and talked to him for like 30 minutes and I felt so inspired. Excited to see that Hance is with them, but Idk i'm nervous Thorton is going to make everyone want to quit again lol.
Fun fact/Side note: Michael Bohn went ahead and make music on both WildHeart and The Villa (current) please correct me if I’m wrong. Great video though to wrap up the Woe/Issues saga Cozy!
You nailed all the reasons Issues are one of my favorite bands of all time. Their synthesis of musical elements was unparalleled in the scene, the DJ scratches and electronics took me back to when I was growing up in the nu-metal era, the Biebercore cleans always stood out from the pack, and they just had absolutely top notch songwriting across the board. Fond memories of seeing them at Warped in 2016.
So woe is me is apparently getting back together and i came here to comment this since this is literally one of the most recent bands youve covered and its just such funny timing. I literally just want to know your thoughts on it, like whoa
You are foreal one of the only people I can put my phone down and listen to. You do your best to be unbiased and it lets the listener think more about their own opinion. Well done
Michael bohn was the energy and aggression of the band which was absent live and in records when Michael got the boot. Such a shame to see them decline afterwards imo.
Ace of spades!! My neighborhood venue. I was at so many of those shows, lol. I was in my late 20's when this was happening. Woe Is Me was fun and awesome. I still listen to it. I always referred to this situation, as Woe Is Me We Have Issues.
Issues was for me a solid band but I wasn't fully into them because I liked Woe Is Me more. Also, a bummer for sure that Issues ended in that way as the members went in separate ways. Great vid as always Cozy.
Hey I actually have a chest piece tattoo that says ‘Never Lose Your Flames’ at the top, with some sacred hearts and sunflowers and grassy plains etc underneath. I’ll have to show you sometime! Always been a favorite woe lyric of mine.
Yep it’s absolutely insane. Tyler Carter and Tillian Pearson had some of the most legendary voices in our scene and they just couldn’t treat women with a modicum of dignity. Could get an insane number of males or females, without any coercion needed. But as we know, it’s not about that. It’s about power. They enjoyed using their status and the ability to make people starstruck over them to the point where saying no is hard or even if it’s rejected outright, they believe nothing will happen to them because they feel invincible. Shame. I hope whoever replaced Tillian in DGD can keep the amazing music going.
You try being a young 20 year old in a successful rock band in a life of sex drugs and rock and roll and try to be morally correct. You wouldn't be. You'd fuck up. Everyone does. Not condoning the behavior but they are allowed to make mistakes, own up to it, grow and move past it. There is no reason to cancel someone's career over such things. If everyone was fired from being a shitty person in their life at some point there wouldn't be one person working. We are all human and all have moments where we suck. Being a good human is recognizing it and doing your best to fix yourself and bring positivity to yourself and others in the future.
Soo I loved issues for the first ep and album (as they were the only things available) and then completely dropped off with my explosion of electronic love and completely stopped paying attention. I mean I always still saw their name on RUclips so I knew they still existed and were doing their thing. When I tell you my mouth dropped when you said the allegations. Like damn, what a sad ending I did not see coming. Always sucks when one persons actions ruin everything. Like why’d he have to do that 😫
Out of all the artists to be exposed Tyler was definitely the one who I was most gutted about, issues is the band that got me into different genre's other than metal/rock music and tyler was my biggest inspiration as a vocalist
One of my strongest core memories made outside of childhood was in nyc when they toured on headspace. When home soon came on, my wife and I turned to each other so quick in excitement that we busted out laughing as we were grooving the fuck out to the opening of that song man, such a great time 💙
It sucks that this band ended this way. I'm still hoping they announce some new music with a new singer soon. I know the man is busy but I would LOVE if Andy Cizek joined the band
I was supposed to go see them when they opened up for ADTR. My friend made me miss their whole set cause he only cared about adtr. I never got a chance to see them again
Black Diamonds Ep is a banger. But I couldn’t get into anything after that. A few songs off the first album but that’s pretty it. Been enjoying these videos, Cozy. Great Stuff. Keep it coming.
It’s crazy to see what’s happened to both WIM and Issues. Like a text book ‘what not to do’ of 2010’s metalcore is what these 2 bands did. Multiple lineup changes? Public beefs? Bad leadership? Creative ups and downs? Sexual allegations? These bands check all those boxes.
Not sure if you're aware, but Josh Manuel (Issues drummer) has been watching your videos while streaming on twitch. He's said you are scary accurate with all of your information and thoughts haha. So you have support from the band members that you're documenting 👍
Issues really DID that. Seeing them live in their self titled era was beyond amazing. I really miss those simpler times
saw them at warped in 2015 or 16 i believe during headspace. was definitely a good show and i definitely miss this band
They wanted him (bohn) to sing a ton from never singing before. Kinda hard to be asked to take voice lessons and then expected to sing on a huge album in a short amount of time.
With woe is me back together we may need a part 5 in 6 months 😂
We need a part 5 now that issues broke up. Rip to my favorite band

I loved Michael's cleans. He's not as soulful, which was nice. It helped break things up, and was wholly unexpected
I feel that. His little clean vocals on “The Realest” were like my favorite part of that song.

I was looking into what Michael Bohn is up to now and his new band the Villa really shows how his clean vocals have developed.
Shows they didn’t give him the proper time to evolve nor did they care.

Shit… I was thinking Jonny Craig. I love that man’s voice, I wish he could really just get it together for good
@@ItsXtinaBitch he's been good for a few years now I believe. Watch the interview he just did on the MBA Podcast
Tillians got allegations?? I thought this comment was towards Johnny Craig
Like why’d he have to do that 😫
and now woe is me are back
I get sad seeing these old tour posters and knowing I'll never get to see one
We need a 45 minute video explaining if its "Alex is on fire" or "Alexis on fire" 🤔
Alexis on fire after the porn star if I’m not mistaken
I've always known it was "Alexis on fire" but my name is Alex so subconsciously I can never not read it as "Alex is on fire", haha
Micheal’s new band is incredible and he has shown he can really sing.
Yeah I was looking into his new band called the Villa
Another great video ! always excited for the info you dig up and display, not only nostalgic but educationally tasteful! You are a gem
better get ready for part 5! Woe is coming back baby!!
Man that Issues self titled album is still a lot of fun to listen to. They never really hit like that afterwards, shame.
it was SOOO good heavy nostalgia fs
bro what? Listen to Coma, Slow Me Down, Drink About It, Without You.. all such bangers
@@dbgrfdg I'm very familiar with their discography. Doesn't change my opinion, self-titled stands above the rest.
@@somedogsarecops2354did i give u permission to have an opinion?
I don’t know most of these bands but I love how enthusiastic and informative you are so I watch you videos anyway!
Great series again - thanks! Scene drama! Crazy times … love it- apart from the downer ending of course! :)
When home soon came on, my wife and I turned to each other so quick in excitement that we busted out laughing as we were grooving the fuck out to the opening of that song man, such a great time 💙
Thats one of my favs on that album. Probably slow me down is my fav. Was the last album i listened to from them. So good 👌🏽
It sucks that this band ended this way. I'm still hoping they announce some new music with a new singer soon. I know the man is busy but I would LOVE if Andy Cizek joined the band
That would be amazing if Andy joined them!
Yes didn't have to wait long for this one! Excited to listen before work
This has been my favorite series you’ve done so far. Great job man!
It seems Cozy Rep is destined to make a part 5 as he manifested what just happened.
Woe Is Me is back!!
I was so fortunate to watch Issues live in Manila way back in August 2014.
I remember seeing issues at warped 2016 (I think) the one with the Pokémon backdrop. It was a pretty good set!!
The future hearts tour was one of the first shows I ever went to and that was to see issues, it was an amazing show!
