The problem with This Means War I'd that it's too heavy. Yeah it's more heavy than the previous albums, but that also means it's the least heavy. Because when everything's heavy, nothing is heavy. The synth and pop vocals breaking up the brutality was the reason why it was so heavy.
Fun fact: AC-130 (while potemtially written for Austin Carlile) is actually a reference to Call of Duty games. It is the name of a "killstreak", which allows you to call upon said gunship after obtaining a lot of kills in a row without dying on multiplayer match.
To help clarify or at least somewhat understand some of what John was saying... I think John was suffering from a form of OCD. What many don't know is that OCD can manifest itself in a myriad of ways with the most irrational obsessions and worries--in this case, John obsessing about being gay/not being gay. It's a very common obsession in the OCD community. The way he explained his thoughts did come off as very erratic though but that just shows his deteriorating mental state. I hope he has gotten the help he needed at the time.
Just saw AA live a few months ago, they were phenomenal. Their new songs are in my opinion, their best and most balanced material. Not too crazy, but not so bland that they don't have a sound. Their new vocalist is absolutely killer.

Whether AC-130 was a diss to Austin or not, Austin certainly thought that it was. On the second OMAM album the track "ohioisonfire" definitely seems like a direct response to AC-130.
I do like the new Attack Attack incarnation but there's also many riffs and elements in their new music just directly taken from unreleased Nativ songs which you can find online, there was an entire unreleased album that I feel was probably their best work instrumentally, with great vocals of course but the vocals are what changed it from being Attack Attack in my opinion. The new incarnation is great but we're already seeing lineup changes and I just wish those guys can stay together long enough to actually do a bunch of albums with just this one current lineup for the first time in AA history. A lot of bands have formed because of Attack Attack, directly and indirectly and I think that if anything, AA had one of the biggest contributions to the post hardcore music scene just simply because of how many bands they're responsible for having created, including the new reincarnation and Nativ, I can think of at least a dozen bands. Time will show what comes of their reunion but hopefully something amazing does 😁 Also it's cool to see Johnny Franck and Caleb Shomo perform together not so long ago at one of the Bilmuri shows. It's good to see that there isn't as much tension between ex members as it felt like there was at the time.
I agree with you, attack attacks self titled was definitely their best album, all good bangers like sexual man chocolate,I swear I’ll change, smokahontas, and turbo swag are my favorite songs on that album. I think Caleb honestly made the band who they were meant to be.🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

The new Attack Attack sounds good...if it was called anything else. Also, the lineup with Phil was actually solid. Those were wild times
Yeah using the name attack attack with that sound and lineup makes it clear its a cash grab. It sounds fine but its literally just not attack attack
The first time I saw Attack Attack! was on the Fuck It We're Done Tour in and Caleb had come back to perform. It was an awesome show. The second time I saw Attack Attack! was last month and it was great to see them again like 10 years later. Crabcore forever baby!
Oh what a treat, I had a bad day and come home and see the cozy representative made another video 🙌🏽
The self titled album is a classic for me
They actually fully recorded a album with Feldman. Wetzel said it was very fall out boy like. They never released it obviously. Caleb quit etc.
JH is making an appearance on my team soon. He’s grown and is a great person. Can’t wait to have him and work with him!
It’s such a weird coincidence that you post this, I started listening to this band again recently
I thought it was abruptly ended the previous video. I knew there would be a part 2
12:20 bro, have you never played Modern Warfare 2? Lmao
Good job on the videos recently also its nice how you're starting to look like a member of okilly dokilly
Whether AC-130 was a diss to Austin or not, Austin certainly thought that it was. On the second OMAM album the track "ohioisonfire" definitely seems like a direct response to AC-130.
I still go back to that love intro from 18:47 from time to time. Shit went hard
the whole john holgado statement was honestly sad, especially because everyone just made fun of him and called him stupid. i hope he's doing okay
Thank you. Please do Confide in the near future!
I love your videos man, they really bring back memories of better times
Would have been awesome to include the slight beef between upon a burning body and attack attack during the this is a family tour
I absolutely agree about "Attack Attack!" being the best album they released ever.
Sean was a great touring member for them. Wish he stuck with the band and made an album with them
Attack Attack invented the sound that spawned iwrestledabearonce and I love them for that by itself.
I've been following your work since the rise and fall of Jonny Craig. You do great work! I use to love attack attack!
Crazy enough, AA is playing at a venue near me on June 10th which is gonna be cool
Being a big fan of him, I would love if you did a video on bear tooth kinda as a continuation of Caleb’s career as well as another good band.
Do sleeping with sirens cozy! Love the vids
I'd say this the best album from them, the mixture of techno and metal was just right
in an interview caleb said that the last record was influenced by meshuggah
Attack Attack’s self-titled was definitely a couple years ahead of it’s time
Saw them on Shred til youre dead tour with Caleb at the helm and they did Sexual Man Chocolate for the first time. God I'm old
I do like the new Attack Attack incarnation but there's also many riffs and elements in their new music just directly taken from unreleased Nativ songs which you can find online, there was an entire unreleased album that I feel was probably their best work instrumentally, with great vocals of course but the vocals are what changed it from being Attack Attack in my opinion.
Time will show what comes of their reunion but hopefully something amazing does 😁
Also it's cool to see Johnny Franck and Caleb Shomo perform together not so long ago at one of the Bilmuri shows. It's good to see that there isn't as much tension between ex members as it felt like there was at the time.
they actually wrote and recorded a full album with phil! you can buy it from him for $10 if youre interested, its pretty great!
No way! Gotta look that up
Link?
I agree with you, attack attacks self titled was definitely their best album, all good bangers like sexual man chocolate,I swear I’ll change, smokahontas, and turbo swag are my favorite songs on that album. I think Caleb honestly made the band who they were meant to be.🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
No Defeat doesn't get the respect it deserves, that songs goes so fucking hard
Moderate scene prominence.
Lmao 😂
would love to see a breakdown on tyler carter from a path less traveled to woe is me to issues. there are some pretty telling lyrics on woe is me - vengeance that were contextualized pretty heavily after those allegations
