I met them as a teenager when they were touring on Take This To Your Grave, they were opening for Punchline at a venue called the Hangout in Edinboro, PA. Loved Punchline at the time and they were the much bigger act but honestly FB mopped the stage with the other bands on the bill. I was lurking around their merch table and Pete Wentz legit gave me a t shirt and a copy of that album, prob cause he could tell I had no money. Within a year or so they’d become one of the biggest bands in the world. Pretty cool
omg holy shit i remember the hangout!!! i definitely don’t know you bc i don’t recognize you by name lmao but it’s so cool to see an unexpected shoutout from a local on here. i remember that show, i was so heartbroken i couldn’t go (i had a dance show or something like that). i get so nostalgic for the hangout and forward hall (‘:
@@sillygoose420 Hell yeah!!! That was quite a scene back in the day and I saw so many cool bands, it’s nice to hear from someone who came up in that same community. I’m sorry you missed that show though :( honestly it was still one of the best live gigs I’ve ever been to
I agree in my opinion the best album and I became a fan after their hiatus I just want to know though why was this album not liked as much as the others when it came out because to me it's an absolute masterpiece like every song every track is amazing to me
I recently listened to Folie A Deux all the way through. It made me cry, made me hyped, made me reflect. Folie A Deux is such a beautiful soulful music masterpiece that *SHOULD* be experienced. I put Folie A Deux very very high in my top ten favorite albums maybe even at the top. Not many albums have ever made me cry but this one sure deserved the tears that were shed. Love Fall Out Boy and can see myself being a fan for many years to come.
Patrick's performance of Headfirst Slide on Soundstage is legit the best performance he ever did IMO, even with him not quite reaching the low note in the first verse. I could listen to it a hundred times.
I'm sorry but wtf are you talking about lmfao. headfirst slide is highly favored by most fob fans. As a matter of fact, it is so loved that they made it a staple in the setlist due to the fans harping about needing it live. It was literally constantly getting asked about. And adding a deep cut from 15 years ago to a setlist is a clear indication it's highly rated. When people talk about folie, which i don't hear anyone hate on it anymore, the vast majority of listeners list headfirst slide as their number one or top three at the very least. I think people like you just throw the word "underrated" out of nowhere without thinking about what you're saying lol. Then, you say "unbelievably?" Yeah, no lmfao. maybe it WAS underrated 15 years ago, but now? no shot 🥴.@@s1rensooong
I was born when Fall Out Boy formed, but to hear that OG fans were divided over Folie à Deux is shocking because (in my opinion) It's their best album!
Thank you for sharing your appreciation for MANIA. I totally understand why people may not like it, but I really dislike the vitriol FOB get for it. I don't like every song on MANIA, but the ones that I do really get me in the chest. It truly feels like FOB taking on so many genres in their own way. It feels like total experimentation and it's infectious. It's totally different and it's fucking awesome. Also Church is on it, and that's my favourite song. I'm biased. Edit: omg you also love Church. THANK YOU.
I remember the first time I heard "Take This to Your Grave". I think I was around 12 or 13 at the time. I was at swim team practice, and a girl I was friends with had this burned CD we listened to on a portable CD player... We used to SCREAM sing "Chicago is so Two Years Ago" walking home from the pool.
I WOULD LOVE TO SHOW PETE THE TRACK RECORD FOR FOLIE AND ASK HIM WHICH WERE SKETCHES. Every song on that album is beautiful to me so it amazes me to think that they could have been even better. Amazing video btw, I enjoy this so much as a long time Fall Out Boy fan.
Honestly most sketches are absolutely gorgeous because they have raw energy from the artist and they usually have more organic flow than final art. So tbh if Folie has sketches, theyre still beautiful and perfect imo. 😂
I was 15 when Take This To Your Grave came out and it absolutely changed my life. I had never heard anything quite like it... As an emotional, angsty, artistic teenager from the Midwest who experienced a lot of loss and felt super alone during childhood, I had never felt SO SEEN by lyrics in my life, and yet so safe in the pop punk high energy melodies. It was like reckless permission to feel whatever you're feeling with fearless honesty, encouragement, and unconditional acceptance. It was so freeing for me at that time! I know that's a lot of diff music for diff people. But I cannot imagine not having that album at the time in my life. So I totally get what you were saying about it, but I think for others my age, holy shit it was suuuuch a gift!!! So I would've placed it higher for that reason even if I wouldn't say it was their absolute best. But ugh, still so good to me!
Yeah, a lot of people's rankings will revolve around when they, personally, were introduced to the band and I'm no different--TTTYG was the first album of theirs I ever heard. I remember someone recommending I download a couple tracks off of Limewire (or Napster...I don't remember which I was using at the time) and I was blown away. I found a place online to order their album (even though I had every track--I wanted to support this bad ass band that was just getting started) and that CD didn't leave my car player for over a year. Went and saw them live, met them and chatted for a bit (they're all nice but Andy was next level nice--even walked us out to thank us for coming--they were the opening band with only about 20 people there when they played). That album and that band were special and unique at the time--the popular pop punk bands on the radio were, mostly, bands with silly lyrics and, usually, lead singers that tended to be nasally (Blink, NFG, etc.--bands I love, don't get me wrong). FOB had a singer with some chops/range that gave a little bit of a soulful sound to the songs. The lyrics were clever, self deprecating, and over the top bitter/angry and those are paired with upbeat, fast, heart pumping music. The entire album is great and feels like one entire experience--it's also the most collaborative album with regards to song writing; after this album they decided that Pete would write lyrics and Patrick the music without crossover (maybe on occasion but, for the most part, they split it up whereas on TTTYG they both worked on stuff which did lead to friction but led to some awesome music/lyrics that paired better than the later stuff). The songs just demanded your attention--I remember reading the lyrics and being almost shocked; they were playful but, at the same time, they weren't holding anything back. "Let's play this game called 'when you catch fire' I wouldn't piss to put you out" I mean...that's pretty damn angry but it felt like a perfect expression of some of the anger you feel at that age. I could go on and on but that album was something really, really special at the time. The album sound has a raw, electric feel to it that they've never really managed to capture again (for me)--the way they paired Patrick's singing with Pete's screaming has never been better than Grave. I know Cork Tree is many people's favorite and I love it but, for me, the lyrics are good but there are more 'meh' lyrics in there than Grave and the sound is poppier/more radio friendly which makes perfect sense but isn't my personal cup of tea (I'm not downing on that sound at all--I think people should always try and remember that FOB always set out to be a pop-ish band. So anyone that is surprised with their newer stuff really shouldn't be because the band always wanted to make stuff that'd be popular and not every band has the talent/flexibility to be able to do just that). For me, I never skip a single track on Grave and I can't say the same for the other albums. Cork Tree I always skip Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner (they released an EP between Grave and Cork Tree with the acoustic version of that song--I loved it and never really liked the electric version. It always felt like it should be acoustic to me but that could be because I heard it that way first). IOH, Folie, etc. I skip a few. But I will rock out to any song on Grave. I'm sure nostalgia plays a role but that's true for almost anyone's favorite album of theirs. Rant over.
@@brandonhern I agree with every word you typed. I got into FOB as they released Corktree and once I explored TTTYG I was sold. It was raw and aggressive in ways later albums weren't and it perfectly expressed how I felt at the time. It was incredible and is still one of my favorite albums of all time. God damn the nostalgia
Good news: they most certainly got some of that togetherness sounding back on So Much For Stardust :3 REALLY hope youre as pumped about it as the rest of us: it sounds like they took the best parts of Mania, Folie, Infinity, and like, SRAR, and said "FUCK IT THIS IS GONNA BE THE BEST ALBUM EVER"
I’m so happy that you’re validating MANIA. That album has some amazing songs (can’t get enough of Church either), great lyrics, strange experimental songs that really work. I feel validated! But I still agree that at first it sounded overproduced and a bit too electronicky.
Thank you! Someone who finally doesn't hate Mania, it's literally my second favorite fob album (behind Infinity On High). Also, we definitely need more rankings from you, like one for All Time Low. Keep up the great content!
Mania is a bop and deserves more love. FOB has a different style and sound now but that doesn't mean it's not good. I feel like nostalgia definitely plays a part in disliking Mania
Nah I was fully like wanting to love mania when it came out n it disappointed me so much even then as like a 14 year old kid that I literally stopped listening to fall out boy entirely like it made me not like them anymore and I only rediscovered love 4 it recently as a 19 year old that album is hella bad
I CANT BELIEVE YOU RANKED (x album) IN (x) POSITION ABOVE MY FAVORITE ALBUM AND UNDER MY LEAST FAVORITE (x album). YOU’RE NOT EVEN A REAL (x band) FAN. I DO NOT FEEL COZY NOR REPRESENTED. HOW DARE YOU.
Dude, the album was so good, I'm always BAFFLED when people say Folie a Deux was hated! Even the band members were quoted in multiple interviews as saying that the FAD-era of FOB was their most tumultuous and stressful time as a band, and largely because of fan reactions... the band said by this time, people were calling them washed up, calling Patrick "Fatrick" cuz of his weight at the time, and it was basically THE reason the hiatus happened!
Evening Out With Your Girlfriend is one of the greatest EP's I've ever heard. I am shocked, SHOCKED that you would put it so low. It's rough around the edges, sure, but it slaps harder than my grandma on Christmas day
I know right? I consider Evening Out to be FOB's first album and it's my 2nd favorite album by them. (1st is Cork Tree.) It gets a whole lot of hate I don't get. For me, this was them at their most raw, Before the money and the fame, and I absolutely love it.
The year is 2009, I'm like 10 years old, and I'm in love with I Don't Care, Folie was the first album I ever owned and introduced me to music. It was and still is my favorite album of theirs. Don't like the extreme pop they produce now, but if it makes them happy by all means, be you FOB, they taught me it was OK to be me.
With how positive you are regarding them as a band, regardless of the 2010s stuff not being your thing, I've gotta know: How do you feel about So Much (For) Stardust (and (Tour) Dust and (2our) Dust of course)!
I’m glad Mania is getting the appreciation it deserves, that album is mine and my best friend’s “friendship album” I can promise you that my best friend truly is one of The Last Of The Real Ones, Mania is full of heart wrenching- gut punching lyrics, it’s so full of life and the album encapsulates a form of Manic energy incredibly well imo
M A N I A is underrated. It’s my favorite post-hiatus album as well. I feel like if they never went on hiatus they would have done this album eventually. They just came to it in another direction.
I don't like mania. Not cause it's exactly bad but.... They cheated us out of a much better album. There were better, more complete versions of songs in the album but it just isn't what it could've been. They cheated us out of what we should've gotten. Who knows if it was the label who changed it or what, but it should've been different.
For the first time since like 2018 I listened to Mania and found something to like in every single song, even Sunshine Riptide which used to be my least favorite FOB song haha. I used to clown on that album but it's honestly pretty fuckin good, what you said is 100% spot-on.
I absolutely fucking love this video. I’m only 1:15:32 into it but I have an obligation I need to get to m, but I needed to leave my thoughts before I get to it. I absolutely agree with the placement of TTTYG and I love what you said about it being the “cool” album to like lmao. I love that album but it simply doesn’t reach the heights of the others for me. And everything you said about ABAP was just so incredible to hear someone else articulate what I’ve been thinking so well. How it felt like aimless annoying experimentation and how much of a disappointment it was. Also what you said about Patrick’s vocals on IOH and how gut wrenching they feel for some reason. The afterlife of the party is my favorite fall out boy song and the UCF Arena performance of it never fails to get me. Idek what I’m on about at this point but I just wanted to say I am so glad I found this channel and I really appreciate the work you put into these videos and your strong perspective on the bands I love. I don’t think I’ve related more to an internet stranger’s opinions on fall out boy than I have with this video. Keep up the great work!
Man Cozy, I can't stop binging your content bro. I came as an old etf head and got hooked by your style, homework, and presentation of your scene history. Ive listened to a lot of bands you've covered but like this one for instance I have never listened to a single FOB song by my own choice but it is so enjoyable and educational being able to learn how musicians did their thing and the theories behind it. You've got a life long fan in me bro, I'll be sure to support you too. You can literally cover anything you're into and things you aren't into with success. Stick with it.
I really hope they make an album full of songs like the re-mastered Lake Effect Kid! I think it will hit the soft spot that the older Fall Out Boy fans miss, while still appeasing to the newer audiences. Despite this, I must say I did enjoy Mania (including Young and Menace) and even really experimental songs like Super Fade! Plus, putting Bob Dylan on Mania would've made the album a million times better. I can't believe everyone dismissed Joe's idea of putting it on there smh
i hate it when bands claim that the problem is that their fans are just too close-minded to enjoy pop music... when the reality is that their song-writing just isn't good (anymore) regardless of genre.
Man, “Evening Out” is a top 5 album for me. I’m not big on their post-hiatus content, but I’m still glad to see they’re still putting out successful content
Can I see another about panic at the disco ? Or idk the academy is i was watching your the academy is video yesterday and idk i think will be cool to talk about them again
Fall Out Boy is my absolute favorite band, and I'd love to share my opinion on this, so here is my ranking: 1. Infinity On High (This album is crazy good, and it was the first album that got me to fall in love with Fall Out Boy, so it will always have a special place in my heart.) 2. From Under the Cork Tree 3. Folie a Deux 4. Mania 5. Save Rock & Roll 6. Take This to Your Grave 7. American Beauty/American Psycho 8. Evening Out With Your Girlfriend
I was about to declare blasphemy when I saw mania wasn’t right after evening out at the bottom of the list, even more so when I saw it was the best post hiatus album. But when I heard you out I can see your point. The lyrics are great and EXTREMELY Pete Wentz-ey on that album, the stitches line always gets to me too. I really resonated with your opening to this vid as well, old fob will always hold a special place in my heart but new fob still has its charm and shouldn’t be disregarded just because it is more mainstream. Halfway through the video so far and loving it!
Absolutely criminal putting Evening Out on the bottom. Its so charming and like 50% great and 50% average. Wish they rerecorded some more of the tracks on that album.
For me, the saddest part of FoB is that they didn't need to change. MGK, Olivia Rodrigo, etc are all super famous and getting radio play doing a cheap imitation of what bands like FOB and Panic! used to do. They all changed and then the genre they used to play blew up again.
Not only that. As a person who was into this music a few years ago (I'm 18yo so it was already uncool to listen to that) it is so exhausting to hear the very same sound everywhere. Like, didn't we outgrew this? Didn't all these bands change their sound because it was lackluster at this point? It would be as tiring if 90s Britpop or 90s ska came back. No one needs that again. The worst thing is that the sound returned but being overproduced, apolitical and with no bands. And as the guy of the video said: The organic feeling is not there, there isn't a band (a group of friends) playing :(
My ranking: 1. Infinity on High 2. Folie a Duex 3. From Under the Cork Tree 4. Take this to your Grave 5. So Much for Stardust 6. American Beauty/American Psycho 7. Save Rock and Roll 8. Mania
Now I gotta go listen to a bunch of their stuff. Been a while since I listened to them. Can't say if I agree with you or not. I remember Infinity on High being my favorite and I didn't like Mania, but I need to freshen up on all of it. Great video. I hope you do more of these.
Loved this! Made me want to go listen to FOB’s discography front to back. Truly appreciate the effort you put into your vids, and would love to see you do this for more of your faves!!
As a 27 year old emo boomer mine from top to bottom would be: Infinity on High Take this to Your Grave From Under the Cork Tree Folie a Deux American Beauty Mania Save Rock & Roll
another INCREDIBLE vid, keep it up!! fob is my fav band of all time and I'm also literally so happy to find there really are people who give the new stuff a fair chance and appreciate it for what it is, personally mania is a no-skip album and SRAR is what got me into them when it came out when i was like. 13 so it always makes me so sad when people dislike them for no good reason, my personal ranking would be SRAR>Folie>Cork>Mania>Grave>Infinity>APAB I totally agree that SRAR feels vaguely experimental in a bit of a tentative way, and that it was mostly written in a v safe, radio-leaning direction, I'd def chalk that up to the immense pressure there must have been to make it palatable and successful and i more than forgive them for it, I'd play it pretty safe too if i was coming back after a slight quote-unquote slump and a threeish year hiatus. (I'm also a whore for some good producing and there are so many cool weird things going on in the meat of the music and the layering, like the cool weird rhythm and melody (and like, texture?) of light em up, like you said. you can really tell they had time to polish those songs and make them really tightly-woven and clean, regardless of the style or overarching "sound," no one can say srar was sloppy :)
Gotta say man, you have been doing a great job with everything and im glad you did this one especially. I remember when i was in middle school, I blasted shit from pre hiatus everydayyyyy and if I'm being honest this vid kinda helped me get back into it because I haven't listened to them much since, but I'm glad I'm back at!
my ranking always kinda switches up because I enjoy their music so much that the “favorite” usually ends up being the one I’m listening to at the time but… here’s an average ranking. 1. Infinity On High 2. Save Rock and Roll 3. Folie a Deux 4. Cork Tree 5. Take This To Your Grave 6. Mania 7. AB/AP I definitely think their pre-hiatus work is more creative and “feels more like fall out boy” (shocking) than their new stuff… definitely the height of pete wentz stream of consciousness lyrics, but… post-hiatus deserves its dues. They have been able to be successful and create hits into the 2010s and it’s still really enjoyable music. Save Rock and Roll is a no skip album for me. And some of the tracks on mania are so cool? Young and menace is so weird and I love it for that, sunshine riptide and church have this cinematic produced feeling and while it’s not “rock” anymore and I guess I miss that… vibe?? It kind of makes you wonder what the point of a “band” is with electronic elements. But I still love what they’re doing from a musical standpoint, Patrick stump never runs out of ideas, and I’m excited to see what they experiment with next! Also folie is objectively their best album even if it isn’t my favorite just gotta put that out there
Personally as much as I love Fall Out Boy, I get tired of them being seen as like the pinnacle of emo music. Emo to me was definitely more Asking Alexandria than FOB haha! I also loved Mania too! Lyrically it’s gorgeous and I definitely agree that its experimental with purpose!
i'm so surprised that i agree with a lot of your takes!! not a lot fob fans like mania but i love it and also think it's the best post-hiatus album! our rankings are pretty much the same except my personal favourite album is take this to your grave, but i get why you'd rank it last among the pre-hiatus albums. great job on the video! :)
1. Infinity On High 2. Folie a Deaux 3. From Under the Cork Tree 4. Save Rock and Roll 5. Take This to Your Grave 6. American Beauty/ American Psycho 7. MANIA (I love all of these albums, just some more than others!)
This really confirmed my opinions about Save RocknRoll! 5/6 is probably the rating it deserves ; I’m just amazed at your honorable mentions - I could not agree more
Really enjoyed this video! Fall Out Boy are a band I never get tired of listening to. The Cozy representative gave a great insight to his feelings and opinions as usual!
my ranking: eowygf/project rocket ep (god tier because most emo) pax am days (just so energetic I love it ) tttyg (actually got me into them) ioh (comfort album) srar (ok album, awesome mv's) mania (mid but good) fad (hot take for not being my #1 fav specifically because of the b.u. features) futct (same reason as fad like it devalues the albums for me overall) ab/ap (emo pop ew at least mania did something new) ab/ap remixes (worse than the stayin' out all night remix they did proof fob kinda barely sounds good w/ rap/hip-hop)
i agree with you that Mania is over-hated, but there are some REALLY low points on that record imo. Champion epitomizes the issue with FOB’s post-hiatus work (clearly made for radio, repetitive, uninspired lyrics), and Young and Menace is just a mess. it’s redeemed by Bishops Knife Trick and The Last of the Real Ones, but other than those i don’t think the album’s that great.
I must be one of the only fob fans who legitimately love evening out, the raw recordings and more underground punk scene sound of it just gives it a special place in my heart. Alot of punk bands have bad recordings or conventionally "bad" songs but everybody has different tastes and music is subjective. Feel like it deserves more credit for it being a group of young guys going "let's just make some shit" and managing to produce songs that actually have good messages
I know you usually do rise/fall videos but can you do full history video on A Day to Remember?!!! They are my favorite band and I feel you could make a really good video on them
As an old school FOB guy the biggest complaint I have with their post hiatus stuff is that it sounds like everything else. I remember hearing Centuries and not knowing it was even them for months. They just sounded like everything else. At least with their first group of albums, even though it was similar to a lot of other emo music, they still had their own character. Now that's gone. Also post hiatus/hair plugs Patrick just seems kind of douchy to me.
This was so close to perfect lol infinity is THE best fob album imo. They really leaned into that polished sound and Patrick’s vocals are so damn perfect on every track.
Honestly I have a huge amount of respect for Fall Out boy in terms of scene influence but I cannot stand them cuz a majority of their fans in my age range are the same types that listen to nothing but new era FoB, solo Panic! and like, Black Parade. Glad that this scene is still as popular as it is but when your faves of the genre are all at best punk-inspired arena rock it comes off kinda pose-y Great video btw as always! Seeing u in my subbox is always swag :p
i know people want to make a cult out of folie à deux and compare it to other failure great albums but the reality is just that the emo scene was on life support by the time that album came out 🤷♂️ i don’t think it’s much about the music being adventurous at all, folie à deux especially in comparison to pet sounds or pinkerton is still pretty much stadium music
Almost every take on here is different from me and that’s awesome Ive never even pushed PLAY on Mania. Not once. I think i will now. You have changed the world.
went listening MANIA after this video. I agree that it's not as bad as I thought it was last time I tried. I can at least recognize the seed of OG Fall Out Boy in the music. I don't feel bad in saying that it's a good album in a vacuum. I actually would say that if pop songs were written by the talented people from other styles, it'd be much better than it is. I think this album (and the other two most recent ones, for that matter) make a better version of the pop of its time than the actual pop people. that said, I also think that what brings these albums down is exactly that. it's FOB's version of the pop music of the time. they even try to retain some of their slickness and tongue-in-cheek-ness, but it just doesn't hit right. the play with words sounds weak and kinda obvious. the instrumentals are just so bland and by the numbers. Patrick's voice is on point, but it's not complemented by the music. I don't expect a band to infinitely ascend in quality. it's impossible. I also understand that momentum, when interrupted, is never recovered. I actually think FOB is a case of the second more than the first. I think that this new phase can't even be compared with the other one. I think they're different timelines altogether. they were incredibly experimental and innovative for popular music in their first run and it was pretty much a perfect run. this second run lacks exactly that spirit of experimentation and innovation. and that's okay. we as fans always think that there's always something else to give. maybe there's just not. maybe the future will prove me wrong. fingers crossed. went listening MANIA after this video. I used to think that it was much worse than the other two most recent ones. now I think it's just as bad.

Follie a deux is one of my favorite albums of all time. Totally shaped my taste in music when i was younger. Such a unique record
It’s my all time favorite
Thanks for giving Tiffany Blews some much needed love, my man. What a horrifically underrated FOB track.
Tiffany Blews is my favorite on the album and a top 5 or 10 for sure.

The best album

No mention of Lake Effect Kid? May only be 3 songs but they all absolutely slap
Time to get cozy. Time to be represented.
Finally someone has words for exactly how I feel
The rideordie ad felt like you were trying to seduce me, sir.
;)
Another great vid! You have such a good knowledge of the scene, glad you're the one doing these pop punk retrospectives👌
thanks so much! its my pleasure haha :))
Mania has been my favorite post-hiatus Album since it came out. It's just a lot of fun to listen to with how different it is from their other music.
Honestly! Mania is my second fav behind folie, it blows my mind that people don't like it when it's literally a no-skip album??
I AGREE! 1 of All Time Low would be great & maybe a the Break up of P!ATD or something like that.
Nah I was fully like wanting to love mania when it came out n it disappointed me so much even then as like a 14 year old kid that I literally stopped listening to fall out boy entirely like it made me not like them anymore and I only rediscovered love 4 it recently as a 19 year old that album is hella bad
Mania is actually really good… I love the style of it
I CANT BELIEVE YOU RANKED (x album) IN (x) POSITION ABOVE MY FAVORITE ALBUM AND UNDER MY LEAST FAVORITE (x album).
With how positive you are regarding them as a band, regardless of the 2010s stuff not being your thing, I've gotta know:
How do you feel about So Much (For) Stardust (and (Tour) Dust and (2our) Dust of course)!
Fob’s early music is iconic but I adore folie a deux & Save Rock & Roll I listen to from front to back whenever I play it.
For the first time since like 2018 I listened to Mania and found something to like in every single song, even Sunshine Riptide which used to be my least favorite FOB song haha. I used to clown on that album but it's honestly pretty fuckin good, what you said is 100% spot-on.
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS.
MANIA is highly underrated and I love that you love it. Stay Frosty is my personal national anthem
My mom saw a photo of Fall Out Boy from 2005 and pointed at it and said “Thats Pete Wentz I know who he is!”
i hate it when bands claim that the problem is that their fans are just too close-minded to enjoy pop music... when the reality is that their song-writing just isn't good (anymore) regardless of genre.
The vintage Fall Out Boy footage thoooooooo
Found them in 07, fav band ever. Find greatness in each album.
Man, “Evening Out” is a top 5 album for me. I’m not big on their post-hiatus content, but I’m still glad to see they’re still putting out successful content
Great video! This chanel is criminally underrated.
thank you so much! much appreciated
Can I see another about panic at the disco ? Or idk the academy is i was watching your the academy is video yesterday and idk i think will be cool to talk about them again
Bruh, you kinda look like Patrick Stump lol
Honestly…The young volcano slander HURTS
Fall Out Boy is my absolute favorite band, and I'd love to share my opinion on this, so here is my ranking:
1. Infinity On High (This album is crazy good, and it was the first album that got me to fall in love with Fall Out Boy, so it will always have a special place in my heart.)
2. From Under the Cork Tree
3. Folie a Deux
4. Mania
5. Save Rock & Roll
6. Take This to Your Grave
7. American Beauty/American Psycho
8. Evening Out With Your Girlfriend
Still waiting for bmth vid
Fun fact: my band back in the day turned down FOBs first tour... because we were apparently really dumb lol
I will not forgive you Evening out with your girlfriend slander.
Pretty in Punk is a jam
And growing up too :(
Absolutely criminal putting Evening Out on the bottom. Its so charming and like 50% great and 50% average. Wish they rerecorded some more of the tracks on that album.
Can we get you reacting to their new album, So Much for Stardust?
my list (ive only listened to pre 2008)
1. evening out
2. Cork tree
3. grave
4. infinity on high
I appreciate mania for all the experimental tracks! The sound of sunshine riptide is so beautiful to me… it is just so creative and beautiful to me
For me, the saddest part of FoB is that they didn't need to change.
And as the guy of the video said: The organic feeling is not there, there isn't a band (a group of friends) playing :(
My ranking:
1. Infinity on High
2. Folie a Duex
3. From Under the Cork Tree
4. Take this to your Grave
5. So Much for Stardust
6. American Beauty/American Psycho
7. Save Rock and Roll
8. Mania
Now I gotta go listen to a bunch of their stuff. Been a while since I listened to them. Can't say if I agree with you or not. I remember Infinity on High being my favorite and I didn't like Mania, but I need to freshen up on all of it.
Great video. I hope you do more of these.
I'm curious where so much for stardust falls on the list 😊😊
0:42 the shirt that mikey found lol
Loved this! Made me want to go listen to FOB’s discography front to back. Truly appreciate the effort you put into your vids, and would love to see you do this for more of your faves!!
Not mentioning w.a.m.s. is a crime!!!!
As a 27 year old emo boomer mine from top to bottom would be:
Infinity on High
Take this to Your Grave
From Under the Cork Tree
Folie a Deux
American Beauty
Mania
Save Rock & Roll
100% agree
another INCREDIBLE vid, keep it up!! fob is my fav band of all time and I'm also literally so happy to find there really are people who give the new stuff a fair chance and appreciate it for what it is, personally mania is a no-skip album and SRAR is what got me into them when it came out when i was like. 13 so it always makes me so sad when people dislike them for no good reason, my personal ranking would be SRAR>Folie>Cork>Mania>Grave>Infinity>APAB
I totally agree that SRAR feels vaguely experimental in a bit of a tentative way, and that it was mostly written in a v safe, radio-leaning direction, I'd def chalk that up to the immense pressure there must have been to make it palatable and successful and i more than forgive them for it, I'd play it pretty safe too if i was coming back after a slight quote-unquote slump and a threeish year hiatus.
Hey! To play off this idea, consider doing a tier list of classic pop punk albums! That would be so fun to watch
1. Infinity On High
2. Save Rock and Roll
3. Folie a Deux
4. Cork Tree
5. Take This To Your Grave
6. Mania
7. AB/AP
I definitely think their pre-hiatus work is more creative and “feels more like fall out boy” (shocking) than their new stuff… definitely the height of pete wentz stream of consciousness lyrics, but… post-hiatus deserves its dues. Also folie is objectively their best album even if it isn’t my favorite just gotta put that out there
evening out was great
all the releases after 2010 suck
1. infinity
2. from under
3.take
4.evening
5.folie
rest is trash and doesnt count
"like" - Pete Wentz
1. Infinity On High
2. Folie a Deaux
3. From Under the Cork Tree
4. Save Rock and Roll
5. Take This to Your Grave
6. American Beauty/ American Psycho
7. MANIA
(I love all of these albums, just some more than others!)
“we can all agree what the worst album is”
evening out with your girlfriend is my second favourite fall out boy album after Folie a deux :(
More ranking videos mah dude!
gotchu! thanks for watching :)
Damn, I didn’t know Patrick had his own youtube channel
This really confirmed my opinions about Save RocknRoll! 5/6 is probably the rating it deserves ; I’m just amazed at your honorable mentions - I could not agree more
Really enjoyed this video! Fall Out Boy are a band I never get tired of listening to. The Cozy representative gave a great insight to his feelings and opinions as usual!
my ranking:
eowygf/project rocket ep (god tier because most emo)
pax am days (just so energetic I love it )
tttyg (actually got me into them)
ioh (comfort album)
srar (ok album, awesome mv's)
mania (mid but good)
fad (hot take for not being my #1 fav specifically because of the b.u. features)
futct (same reason as fad like it devalues the albums for me overall)
ab/ap (emo pop ew at least mania did something new)
ab/ap remixes (worse than the stayin' out all night remix they did proof fob kinda barely sounds good w/ rap/hip-hop)
TTTYG is the definition of all killer, no filler. Every song slaps and has continued to slap.
i agree with you that Mania is over-hated, but there are some REALLY low points on that record imo.
Suggestion: a video about Polaroid the band blackbear was in before he was a pop artist
Me too. I'm in it for the DIY aesthetic
same thing with green day, i think 1039 is their best album and evening out is the best fob album
Sir you gave me frightening and confusing feelings with that rideordie ad 😧
I know you usually do rise/fall videos but can you do full history video on A Day to Remember?!!! They are my favorite band and I feel you could make a really good video on them
Take this to your grave at 4?! 😂
They really leaned into that polished sound and Patrick’s vocals are so damn perfect on every track.
totally agree !
Honestly I have a huge amount of respect for Fall Out boy in terms of scene influence but I cannot stand them cuz a majority of their fans in my age range are the same types that listen to nothing but new era FoB, solo Panic! and like, Black Parade.
Glad that this scene is still as popular as it is but when your faves of the genre are all at best punk-inspired arena rock it comes off kinda pose-y
Great video btw as always! Seeing u in my subbox is always swag :p
MANIA is one of the worst albums of any band ive ever heard.
i know people want to make a cult out of folie à deux and compare it to other failure great albums but the reality is just that the emo scene was on life support by the time that album came out 🤷♂️ i don’t think it’s much about the music being adventurous at all, folie à deux especially in comparison to pet sounds or pinkerton is still pretty much stadium music
This needs more Pax/Am days
tttyg 4? shiiiiiiiiiiit bouta make me act up
new glasses be hittin tho
Evening out with your girlfriend was the best album.
Almost every take on here is different from me and that’s awesome
Ive never even pushed PLAY on Mania. Not once. I think i will now.
You have changed the world.
I appreciate these honest opinions but you didn't have to drag Ab/AP the way you did lmao
went listening MANIA after this video.
I used to think that it was much worse than the other two most recent ones. now I think it's just as bad.
worst to best is just their discography backwards
Pretty much, except i'd put Cork Tree over TTTYG
AB/AP was the worst album I have heard out of them. Uma Thurman may be the most repetitive song in their catalog.
i cant believe u said that with american beauty/american psycho and novocaine being on that album 😔
i am an EOWYGF shooter idk maybe i just listen to too many shitty local bands
smashed like and subscribed after hearing your take on Mania. Felt.
God i miss the 2000s
