Ketamine saved my life , my depression and PTSD caused severe anxiety. therapy is not scary. You feel light, your thoughts and emotions, you can step away from yourself and "see" your issues and focus on yourself in a safe emotional state. To build a healthy relationship with your self, that makes a person see from others stand point

I've tried to describe my experience while under ketamine to providers and other people and it's extremely hard to explain. I strongly believe there should be a program for people who administer and provide therapy for ketamine patients, so they can relate to what their patients are telling them.

I have major depression (lifelong), Fibromyalgia, and a host of other issues. I LOVE IV KETAMINE!!! It has made such a difference for me. And the "K-hole" feels so emotionally, spiritually healing. I feel like I am reconnecting at a molecular level with all living things. It does amazing things for my psyche and it is so much easier to cope with chronic pain and depression when treating with Ketamine. I am so bummed that it isn't covered by Medicare/Medicaid because I can't afford to keep up treatments.

I have severe facial neuropathy. After years of suffering, I was prescribed ketamine troches to take during the worst of the worst flare ups (opioids don’t help my case nor a lot of other people with neuropathic pain). The first time I used it I experienced the most peace I could possibly imagine. I’ve also had it cause absolute terror. I once couldn’t tell if I was dead or alive. As I continue on my journey of finding other helpful treatments, I need far less to control the pain, and thus no longer experience the pure ecstasy nor the sheer terror. Interestingly, I’ve been able to get off depression medication that I’d been on for 20 years.

I never experienced a trip always been fully lucid. Also have the stellate ganglion block managed. All for depression chronic pain and ptsd. And I am really starting to feel good. Also my perception of time completely changed. Before everything flew so fast now is like I can finally and enjoy my day. I think it is normal to share our own experience either they are good or bad for other.
Where are live nobody know what Ketamine can do (except my awesome doctor specialist in pain and anesthesia).
I have to lecture my psychiatrist, my pharmacist, my psychologist, my friend and family.
Many thinks that it’s dangerous because of the use as a drug but I choose the treatment because I am 32 yo and in physical pain from now 5 years and in a very bad depression since my teenage years.
So my job now is to sensibilise and help other persons to know more about it sure I am not the doctor but I can at least tell them « hey they are a now other stuff that can maybe work for you »

I started my IV infusions for anxiety and have done three treatments so far. After the first one, I didn’t really notice anything after the second treatment. I definitely noticed a difference especially because I had to take a flight the next day and go to a sales meeting. I was definitely way more relaxed, but as the week progressed my anxiety came back. Had a third treatment and really didn’t see any difference whatsoever in my anxiety. Hoping the fourth fifth and six will do the trick. Especially because they keep going up very slightly with each infusion.

I've got a lot of medical problems, and my doctor recommended I look into Ketamine Infusions. I did an initial 6 sessions that were focused on my mental health. They were somewhat helpful, but the main reason I tried Ketamine was pain control. The initial infusions were 30-45 minutes.
After those first sessions, we started doing longer infusions for pain relief. They started at about 2:30 hours, but we've increased after I showed I could handle it. My last infusion was 4 hours! I felt like I had been hit by a truck afterward, but I did see improvement in my mental clarity.
I suffered a TBI in 2022 and have struggled to adapt. I also have unexplained crippling abdominal pain. Add fibromyalgia on top of it, and you find the 7th circle of hell where I live.
I'm glad for the Ketamine. It definitely clears up my thinking for a little while after the infusion. It's not been all sunshine and roses, but overall, it's been a good experience. I have had a few uncomfortable trips and 1 really bad trip, but they have been learning experiences. I think I learned more about myself from that 1 bad trip than I have all the other trips combined!
I would recommend Ketamine Infusion Therapy, but talk to your healthcare providers first.

So glad for your information channel. I have had a lot of use for the information you give. I often go to the hospital for gastric surgery (inflated blood vessels in the throat due to liver damage) and need to have anesthesia, because the procedure can be quite long. Last time they had to fix 5 parts of the main blood vein with rubber bands. I have often woken up after the sleep crying and feeling a lot of pain. Then I am in “waking area” and the doctors are typically not there, so any further relief is not given. I can lay there in serious pain for 30-60 minutes until a doctor appear and can do something. Often they have not come at all, and I have been sent home in serious pain, with the message to rest and "fight it out, as it will be better the next day".

From what I've seen, most insurance doesn't cover IV ketamine, but will cover Spravato, because IV Ketamine for depression is being technically prescribed off-label, where Spravato was developed specifically for treating depression. I think that's a load of horse shit. The only reason I've been able to do and continue IV ketamine is because fortunately the VA covers it.

I receive IV ketamine to manage peripheral neuropathy. The drug is somewhat viscous and there's concern about the drug infiltrating the tissue around the veins. After some treatments with IV needles in my arms, there's now placement of a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC line) before the infusion begins.
My pain is managed, not eliminated, by the treatments. My vital signs are closely monitored throughout the treatment. The list of PRN medications (pro re nata, as needed) includes clonidine for high blood pressure, a benzodiazipine, and others.
I've jokingly suggested some patients would consider the side effects as fringe benefits, not risks.
I am very fortunate that Medicare covers the cost of this off-label use.

@ thank you for your response. I don't know why not more people are talking about price. Many pysch patients don't go to therapy or take meds because of the cost. Their illness also made some to be disabled. So cost is very important factor when considering other treatment as well. The way I see it, unless your insurance covers this or you are a high functioning pysch patient, very few people could afford this.

@ to my knowledge there is no insurance in North America that covers this, except some Veterans are starting to receive some support. The rest of us pay for it out of pocket. In Canada where I live there are four clinics in the country that offer it, so I also have to fly out of province for every infusion. It is definitely cost-prohibitive for probably 98% of the people who need it most. Very unfortunate.

I would ask clinics if they have sliding scales or compassionate care programs

My quality of sleep has improved since praying to God in a new way. Before I turn off the light I talk to God as if to a real friend. I tell him my worries and my goals for the next day and ask him to help me to sleep well and I ask him to help certain people. After my prayer I feel so sleepy and fall to sleep in peace very easily.

Praying is important. Praying to God as if He is a real person is a good idea because He IS a real person. ❤ I also sleep better when I take my magnesium supplements at night.

Similarly I talk to my spirit guides. They help me heal as well as help me sleep.

When you pray to God, you are talking to a real friend and He's so much more! God bless and stay well.

PLEASE STOP USING JUMP EDITS, especially after each phrase! The changes are rather jarring, and I had to close my eyes against the snap zooming in and out!

I don't believe such a treatment would be allowed in my country. Anyway to get access to a psychiatrist you have to be disabled totally for a long period of time or be dangerous. If you are able to work fairly normally don't even think about it even if you life is miserable.

Says you! They gave it to me to repair a broken bone w/out surgery. I hallucinated but felt no pain, thank god. Ultimately had surgery.

I am trying to get approved for Spravoto. I know you say it isn't the best form of ketamin, but the Oregon health plan I have will only pay for Spravato. They may not even pay for that. Also trying to get approved for TMS. I am at the whim of OHP. Have to get something to help before it is to late.

I have to disagree. My experience with ketamine at the hospital was horrible. The scariest drug I've ever been given. They should have just given me a high dose of THC instead I could handle that this ketamine is the devil.
