@RickShielsPGA these videos have drastically improved my game. There are 100’s if not 1000’s of videos on youtube trying to fix your game. If I retain your info, slow it down while practicing, and then get the muscle memory, there are no betting instructions anywhere than yours. It sound weird but i literally love you man. You know how frustrating golf can be, but when you know and feel what you’re doing wrong and can fix it, it makes it a “challenge” instead of frustrating. I appreciate you so much my man thank you for every second you put into this for your fans and fans of golf 🙏🏼
Good tips. My whole game improved when I learned to make almost all 3-footers. So to "think positive" about longer putts, I would move half way closer to the hole and practice my stroke. I knew I could make that so I could see the longer putt rolling over my practice stroke line. Helped with confidence and positivity. Also makes lag putting easier.
Man, I’ve watched about a dozen of your videos and have really seen my game improve. I was apprehensive to start watching golf tip videos at first because I thought that I would get too much info in my head and just complicate things further. But I’ve picked up just a tip or two in each of your videos and never feel like I’m being over loaded with technicalities. Thanks so much for the lessons!
This may very well be your best video yet to help folks improve their games/ handicap levels. I've watched you for years, and there's at least something in this video that pertains to just about everybody, and just about everybody can get better by following these putting recommendations.
Rick is a great teacher, easy to understand and relatable to a amateur like me. I really wish I could have just an hour with him to ask all my questions, but I will settle for his videos I have learned a lot. Thanks Rick love your channel.
Have to say the editing quality / animations on these videos are so good. Makes them so watchable and relatable. This is why it is the best RUclips golf channel in the world. Great work team.
I recently started watching this channel but I must admit that these tips that you give are so real life and easy to implement. love your content. keep up the excellent work
Great content, Rick! You helped me with my "only mistake," and now I make sure to practice all my putting drills to a tee peg..... with great results! Thank you! 🤘🏻
Always good to revisit the basics. A lot of us have played a long time and, at least for me, tend to forget little things. I certainly appreciate your great videos.
Great video Rick. I don't hit the ball nearly as far as my playing partners do, so I try to keep my putting below 30 putts per round. This video definately will help me continue that. Thanks!
Hit the nail directly on the head with this one Rick! I am currently playing off of 1.8 and am absolutely guilty of each and every one of these mistakes. Thanks again for the great drills!
New golfer here, I recently found your channel & have consumed alot of your content. Great editing, genuine & has helped my game ALOT. Thanks for all you do.
When I watch your videos, Rick, is the closest I ever come to wishing I lived in England. I am an 81 year old lifetime mediocre golfer. I love my country, and would never seriously consider living anywhere else, but sometimes I wish I lived in England and could just meet you and tell you how much I enjoy your videos and obvious love of the game. Keep up the good work. You still produce the best RUclips content out there. I especially love your videos playing with Guy. You two really project the feeling of twoates who really enjoy each other's company. It's obvious why you are still the king of golfing RUclips.
Amazing vid, Rick. I've bookmarked it because I'm going to watch it again prior to my next round (in 4 months). As others have said, the quality of this video jumped out at me too. The editing and effects were next level. Keep it up!
Have come to love your channel Rick, have been using tons of your tips and tricks to better my golf game. Also love the giveaways, shows your passionate about your fans! I’ve turned in notifications and am always watching to become a better golfer, as a teenager it was just basketball and baseball for me but your videos have made me fall in love with golf and want to become better! Keep up the good work friend 👍🏽👍🏽
Amazing what you can learn from a few "simple" tips from someone who knows exactly what they are talking about, just genius 👏 especially tips 1 and 7.. brilliant.
another awesome video rick! i have 3 more that help me enormously: 1. when your playing partners putt, assuming their ball is on a similar line as yours, watch closely what their ball does. 2. read the green from the other side of the hole, 180 deg. from where you're putting. if the break is uncertain, you'll often be surprised at what you see. 3. when making a putting stroke, think "smooth and tension free" during your stroke. this will reduce the number of pushes and pulls.
I love the tip of a tee upside down as a target! I've been trying this around the house and that little bit of positive feedback when knocking the tee over is surprisingly satisfying! I also tried the warm up drill of getting the green speed by putting to the edge of the green from short, medium, and long range before a par 3 round yesterday and I was even par after 5 holes for the first time in my life! My putting was dialed in. Thank you!
Rick, that last tip is spot on, I do the same with my chipping, I chip to an alignment stick stuck into the ground. On a good round, I can chip in two or three times. All great tips
That was 7?!?! I was just getting into it and then it was over...shot 43-33-76 today (so much for consistency), I need to find your bunker/chipping/pitching/30-50yd shot videos stat and I’ll be under par! Thank you so much for your inspiring videos Rick 💪🏽
These tips are equally important 'especially' the last one 😂 love it and can't wait to see someone putt towards the side of the green, 'so you watch Rick too then' it'll be like a secret handshake 🤝
used these tips yesterday, worked a treat, especially like the practice putt the same as actual putt and visualizing it going in, knocked a few strokes off my round, cheers Rick.
Rick, great vid. Thank you. One tip you could possibly add is for people to try and pick the specific part of the hole they want the ball to roll into from, like a clock face. Golfers can tend to see the front of the hole generally as the entry point for all their putts, which while understandable, is not the widest part of the hole for a breaking putt. So for example, if it's a breaking right to left putt, even though the widest entry point is usually between say 4 o'clock and 5.30, depending on the strength of the break (i.e. if 6 o'clock is the closest point to the player), they still somehow see the 6 o'clock point as the entry point. After all, it is the widest point from their view when they're putting. If we can see/feel the entry point this can help us commit, and help prevent us "chickening out" from going high enough. Next time, have a look at the hole from the entry you want the ball to take. Just quickly. If your brain can see the ball entering at say 4 o'clock you will probably 1. be more willing to roll it high enough and 2. benefit by having the ball entering the hole at it's widest entry point, a double benefit. Cheers.
Dan Harrison... After seeing what I saw at the 5:20 portion I said I had to give this man props. Great tips Rick. Awesome editing. Speechless on this one because I haven't a 3 Putt Free Round this year. This will help.
Gt advice. Thanks. A Malaysian lady golf pro is also advising how to get feel the green speed by long putting 3 or 4 balls. I tried, it works for me. Practising at home definitely helps. Centering the ball on putter mid point definitely helps. Yet another method which works for me to bend down and use shorter shaft length. My golf pals can't believe it. it is almost like snooker. Not sure if it is legal.
The stupidest mistake most golfers make is selecting a putter that is way too f'n heavy! Brad Faxon, Ben Crenshaw, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Loren Roberts "The Boss of the Moss", and Tiger Woods and many, many other great putters, all use putters with headweights less than 330 grams. You might want to consider NOT drinking the Kool-Aid that all the major putter manufacturers are enticing you to drink...
I love this Rick. To misquote Yogi Berra, " 90% of the game is 100% mental. I really like the way you address this by providing clear simple instruction on the way you see the game. I find a lot of instructional videos give you too much information. Its not that the information is wrong. Its just too many words and too many things to think about. Sometimes its not about technique. Its about your mental approach. I am 73 years old and don't expect to shed 5 strokes off my game with some miracle cure to my ball striking but I still strive to improve every time I approach that first tee. Thank you for keeping it simple .
Rick, can you do a video on the grip you use for putting. I also putt LHL and would love to hear some of your insights as far as grip pressure, hand placement, which hand dominates the stroke, etc...
Also important to note that reading more break and missing high typically means the next putt is shorter and does not tend to get away from you like it can when missed low and be 4+ feet away. That is what I have found to help me some.
Hey there Rick, I'm a 69 year old male golfer. I really enjoy your channel, you have many interesting and educational topics. The topic no one ever talks about is the Yips... I've suffered with the swing yips now for about 3 years. Bless my golf partners they put up with my swing, but it drives me crazy and the last two seasons I've stop playing earlier in the year because of frustration. My problem is with every club (even the putter) is taking the club away. I get caught in a 4-6 inch twitch behind the ball and unable to take the club back, I can feel the tension build with every twitch and my body and I tends to drift about a 1/2 inch behind the ball with every twitch. I can end up being about 4-6 inches behind the ball when I finally fire the club. You can even see my legs twitch every time I try to fire the club. Well I don't want to bore your readers, but I could use some help with this, I do love my golf, it gets me outside with my pals. But I need to get pass this or I'll end up quitting golf. I know it's a mental problem, and I do try to swing with no thoughts in my mind... but your body knows what your trying to do..... Please HELP.... Thanks for what you do....
Thank Rick. 1st game back today after 2nd lockdown. Watching all your vids during lockdown obviously done me some good as shot +4 gross. 😍😍😍 normally shoot in the 80's.
Great stuff! Things we probably know (most of) but fail to execute when we play. Thanks! (Loved the animation at 5:11. What a cute way to illustrate "imagine the ball going in the hole".)
great video Rick. watching the ball past the hole can also apply to chipping. as a low marker I aim to make putting close to 1/3 of my total strokes. Putting / chipping saves tour scores more than any part of the game.
Good tips Rick and great presentation as usual ,but there is one that is beyond our control. I have never come across a practice green on the level of courses that most viewers play on that is the same speed as the actual course greens, so tend to use the range or warm up net before play
The best production values in a "golf tip video" EVER. Think positive special effect; aim small pea in the manhole just killed! Also it was great to see I actual do one of these things already. Thanks again Rick.
I'm using all these tips to tune up my putting. Here's one that I use on the practice green. On the course, I only get ONE shot at each putt. Instead of hitting multiple balls from the same spot, I simulate this 'ONE shot' on the practice green. First, I place a ball as far away from a hole that I will realistically be. Could be thirty or forty feet, maybe more. Then another ball about the same distance, but maybe ten feet from the first (different approach to the hole) so I will be 'practicing' two different putts. The goal is to get the first putt of each ball close enough to the hole to have a really makable second putt. The ultimate goal is to eliminate that 3rd and 4th putt. Side benefit-- if you hit the first putt bad enough, you get to practice shorter, but still difficult putts.
Shielsy!!! Would love to see a video of the "perfect" bag of clubs rule is none can be from the same set. I.e. every iron has to be different, every wedge etc. Vs Finchy with the same idea
Solid advice. The single thing that helped my putting was (see #2) solid contact. However, I find it’s due to moving the hips while putting. DO NOT move the hips and solid contact come 90+% of the time. This allows distance and speed control which is critical as the amount of break is determined by speed.
Absolutely loving your content! Only played pitch and putt as a kid and you’ve really got me hooked, can’t wait to get some clubs and go out and sink a few, sir, I doff my hat to you.
If this comment has an even amount of *LIKES* you'll play your best golf in 2021
8th like means I’m gonna make a hole in one
Loving the graphics used Rick 👌
46th like... Do I have to wait til January? I'm in Florida lol...
Darn it, I'm #83 I messed it up for everyone!
90 yo let's go
Can we all take a minute to appreciate the editing on the ‘imagine the practise stroke going into the hole section’ 10/10
that wasn't editing, that was Rick showing off his new degree from Hogwarts
That animation lead me to your comment!
And the gianyt bucket hole! Thats what I've been aiming at all along. Tee sounds like a much better idea!!
It's like a DreamWorks animation production.
I don't know, that editing has me questioning everything he does now...
@RickShielsPGA these videos have drastically improved my game. There are 100’s if not 1000’s of videos on youtube trying to fix your game. Going to watch this video... and then probably go 3 put everything today
Same lol
100%
54 putts in a 18 holes. My normal.
Damn, I can't wait until I put that few
Rick forgets most greens near me have moon size craters
"these points are all equally important but especially number 7" never change rick
My favorite Shields-ism evah
Came to the comments to see this
Read this as he said it.
Reminds me of Sideshow Bob 'Especially Lisa... but Especially Bart'

Love the tips but 2 real things I'm impressed with here Rick. 1 is the beard, 2 is the editing on the practice putt tip.
Beard game is STRONG! Zach on our channel has a solid one but not quite on Rick's level haha
Like so he can see... jesus christ the editor is insane tho
I could've watched that ball go into the hole and pop back up for hours.
Didn't even finish the video, came to the comments looking for the props for the editing!
Man, I’ve watched about a dozen of your videos and have really seen my game improve. Great content, Rick!
You helped me with my "only mistake," and now I make sure to practice all my putting drills to a tee peg..... with great results!

7 excellent, easy to follow tips.Thank you.
Great video Rick. I don't hit the ball nearly as far as my playing partners do, so I try to keep my putting below 30 putts per round. This video definately will help me continue that. Thanks!
I like your teaching style Rick! It's like golfing with a good buddy that actually helps you out with positive thoughts and tips.
SO TRUE... Rick is an amazing teacher ! 😊😊
Great video rick you've helped my game massively as I've only been playing for a couple of years thank you.👍🏻
Dude, these tips are 🔥 I've been wanting to spend more time practicing my putting and now I have a good idea of what that looks like. Cheers!
Thanks so much Rick! This will definitely improve my score a lot! I learn so much from you and my game has come a long way!!
Hit the nail directly on the head with this one Rick! I am currently playing off of 1.8 and am absolutely guilty of each and every one of these mistakes. Thanks again for the great drills!
I just started playing golf and probably learnt more from rick's videos than my lessons. You're doing a great job man. Kudos!
Just saying... but "learnt" is NOT a word. Does your device have spell check ? Guess not.
New golfer here, I recently found your channel & have consumed alot of your content. Great editing, genuine & has helped my game ALOT.

One of the best videos you've ever done Rick. Fantastic
Absolutely brilliant and very practical tips. Can't wait to try them out tomorrow 😀
Getting fancy with that editing on the practice putting stroke! Love the video!
I just watched a video where someone asked Peter Finch if he was Rick Shiels. Oh the look of defeat on his face was priceless LOL!!
Link? I need to see this lol
Have come to love your channel Rick, have been using tons of your tips and tricks to better my golf game. Also love the giveaways, shows your passionate about your fans! I've watched a lot of putting videos over the years, but that was the most informative one by far great job Rick.
Great video Rick... This will definitely help me with my putting. Keep it coming.
Glad to see you including sports psych into your videos, Rick! Thanks for the tips :)

I think Rick is the only youtuber i trust for golf tips.
This guy is a gahdamn genius! It’s one thing to know how to do something, but to explain it in a way that anybody could understand. Freaking amazing!
Love you so much Rick I love tour vids I love everything you do when I was getting in to golf my first golf video I watched was yours
Rick's the man! A real inspiration. Just a stand-up, good dude
Watching this right before my first ever tournament. Feeling confident
Thanks RicK!
So, how did the tournament go ? Did being confident help your score ? Be honest... 😊😊
Rick, that last tip is spot on, I do the same with my chipping, I chip to an alignment stick stuck into the ground. On a good round, I can chip in two or three times. All great tips
Thank you Rick. Did use your advises today. Improved my score and the joy of the game
That was 7?!?! I was just getting into it and then it was over...shot 43-33-76 today (so much for consistency), I need to find your bunker/chipping/pitching/30-50yd shot videos stat and I’ll be under par! Thank you so much for your inspiring videos Rick 💪🏽

This is my favorite so far. Love these tips and demonstrations.
used these tips yesterday, worked a treat, especially like the practice putt the same as actual putt and visualizing it going in, knocked a few strokes off my round, cheers Rick.
Great video and thank you for excellent series of practical tips for the weekender golfers, who want to improve their game for enhanced enjoyment
Great tips Rick. You are always worth listening to. The king of golf vids for sure!
One of the best putting videos i’ve ever watched. Keep up the great work and great videos!
I love it: All of these tips are equally important, especially number 7... Great stuff
Really appreciated this video. Great advice. Always enjoy Rick’s insights.
Dan Harrison... After seeing what I saw at the 5:20 portion I said I had to give this man props. Great tips Rick. Awesome editing. Speechless on this one because I haven't a 3 Putt Free Round this year. This will help.
Great teaching skills makes a lot sense when putting.
The think positive tip was brilliant
Gt advice.
Man. This one hits home big time. Missed way to many short putts in my golf vlogs.
We know that feeling brotha! Haha. Completely different game with the camera on
I love this Rick. To misquote Yogi Berra, " 90% of the game is 100% mental. I really like the way you address this by providing clear simple instruction on the way you see the game. #1......The golf courses I play the practice green has no relation to the actual greens.
Do the test on the 1st green
Rick, can you do a video on the grip you use for putting. I also putt LHL and would love to hear some of your insights as far as grip pressure, hand placement, which hand dominates the stroke, etc...
Also important to note that reading more break and missing high typically means the next putt is shorter and does not tend to get away from you like it can when missed low and be 4+ feet away. That is what I have found to help me some.
Hi Rick , I love your pre-warm up vids
The damn “one handed tap in” has been my hole killer lately 😂😂😂

I really appreciate how you get to the point and dont go on and on in circles like most golf videos on here
Rick that editing on the practice putt was sick!
All of these videos have helped me tremendously. Rick is a great teacher even though videos.
Kudos to the video editing staff. Cool special effects.
Great tips.
Great stuff! Things we probably know (most of) but fail to execute when we play. Thanks!
(Loved the animation at 5:11. What a cute way to illustrate "imagine the ball going in the hole".)
Hands up for the editor! That visual of holing the put was SO good.. 👍
05:15
The ball animation was cool in this video. Thanks for the great tips and keep up the awesome work!
The edits on all the videos have gotten significantly more impressive over the past year and a half or so, right on!
I 'imagined the practice strokes to go in' today and my putts were amazing! Worked great, improved my HCP! THANKS!
Excellent putting advise. Playing for the last 20 years, did know of them. Thank you. Regards
That CG of the ball rolling in was sick! nice touch
that putting special effect you used during the negative thinking tip visualizing the practice stroke was so cool to see!
great video Rick. watching the ball past the hole can also apply to chipping. as a low marker I aim to make putting close to 1/3 of my total strokes. Putting / chipping saves tour scores more than any part of the game.
100% AGREE Rick...about leaving a Tap In! Most amateurs will improve their score by 2-3 strokes a round with this tip!
Love the animation at 5:20 !!
Good tips Rick and great presentation as usual ,but there is one that is beyond our control. I have never come across a practice green on the level of courses that most viewers play on that is the same speed as the actual course greens, so tend to use the range or warm up net before play
"All these tips are equally as important, especially number 7" may be my new favourite sentence of all time!
One of your best videos, Rick! Thx for all your tips
The best production values in a "golf tip video" EVER. Think positive special effect; aim small pea in the manhole just killed! Also it was great to see I actual do one of these things already. Thanks again Rick.

Thanks Rick. These tips are great! The upside down tee peg in the living room is spectacular for me right now.
Best putting advice ever!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
Amazing how that ball just pops out of the grass for Rick's next practice putt.
Always looking forward to your videos. Have been a great help for me
Simple steps yet what you just shared can reduce scores by 1 to 7 strokes per round. Thanks!
Great stuff! Valuable advice and worth a 2nd watch! Thanks Rick.
Thanks for the tips Rick I am going on Saturday I will try them out
Solid advice. The single thing that helped my putting was (see #2) solid contact. However, I find it’s due to moving the hips while putting. DO NOT move the hips and solid contact come 90+% of the time. This allows distance and speed control which is critical as the amount of break is determined by speed.
Rick I love the tips. Your video special effects are getting great too!
Great video Rick and fantastic editing with the ball popping up on the green 10/10
Absolutely loving your content! Only played pitch and putt as a kid and you’ve really got me hooked, can’t wait to get some clubs and go out and sink a few, sir, I doff my hat to you.
