back in the day when Em showed up in a random parking lot and nobody noticed him...
true lol
😂😂
Of course, especially if it was in Canada
Wasn’t exactly a random parking lot was the parking lot behind Much Music but yes we get your point
Lmao it was warp tour
the blackest white guy and the whitest black guy together in one video
No truer statement
+jbs games Best comment ever...
so fuckin true
+jbs games GREATEST. COMMENT. EVER!
lmao😂😂
This is seriously one of the best Eminem interviews I've ever seen. Most of the time I see him in interviews, he's either clowning, or getting softball type questions. Not only did this dude actually ask good questions, but Eminem, instead of clowning like he usually does, he actually put thought into what he was saying and responded in detail. People can say what they want about him but it's clear that he knew what he was doing.
Props also goes the the interviewer who always asked some great questions. Master T was a Much Music vet.
He was sober in this interview thats why lol
Eminem is very aware of what type of interviews he's doing. When he was on those big MTV programs he knew they only cared for the entertainment but when he's interviewed by people who genuinely care for his artistry he notices it and changes his whole approach
@@MuskBalla03wrong
@@bloodlustbeast4507 how do you know
Its B-Rabbit and Future
omg
That's exactly what I wrote
lol jealous much?
lol
future in the past
You can really tell its 1999. You would never see a situation like this now, a celebrity being interviewed in plain daylight in a parking lot in downtown Toronto with no security or mobbing fans. Things have really changed
Pete Kowski wow put in that context that’s wild. Wouldn’t take long until fans would swarm.
Pete Kowski That's not true. The Beatles got swarmed like crazy in the 60s, Elvis got swarmed in the 50s. THIS particular interview was done with no advertisements or fanfare; it was just a quiet setup. The internet wasn't as accessible back then (social media wasn't even around back in '99) so of course nobody knew Em was doing this interview right there.
True. Im just saying even this would never happen now in 2018.
Very true was thinking the same , if any fan knew he was just feet away , easily could had ducked under that parking gate lol
He wasn't super famous then. 1999 was the first year he was exposed to the mainstream. If he was famous then, there would be security and fans. LOL Like anyone can tell the time period by how someone is interviewed. Fucking youtube comments are ridiculous. "hey yo, I can tell it's 1984 by how the interviewer is holding the mic, and leaning against the wall!" LOLOL
"If I'm evil enough to think it, if I'm demented enough to think it, if I'm smart enough to think it, I'm going to say it."
We love for that!!
Nicneven Elphame oh oh oh foolish pride...and the other song
Read this as he said it lol think it might be a sign 👀
I remember em back in 99. He always drove a Ford Explorer. He would always buy me and the local youngsters food. We would scream when he'd go back to the block occasionally. He was a cool guy. My older brother saw him rap before the fame a few times. It was cool seeing someone make it from our neck of the woods
The sky isn't that blue anymore.
It is sometimes in Colorado, especially in the mountains.
red isn't that orange anymore, pretty sure thats the colors from the camera not a perfect representation of different shades of color.
Yall dumb its the camera.
Its that blue in Australia all the time haha
Its not that blue in that area, thats for sure
That interviewer is really good. I hope he had a successful career too
Never seen him
Yup he did! Master T! Toronto Legend! 👍💪😃💯
Damn I wanna go back in time and see him start out and get bigger and bigger
+Alex Mercer i experienced that. By the time he dropped 8 mile it was OVER. He was running the industry
same here. I wanna see how it's like
+Alex Mercer Pause on that mah boi.
I feel like the Eminem Show was his last good complete album. He had great songs in other albums, but I could listen to this front to back like SSLP & MMLP. It was more serious and political but great
His first 3 albums are indeed all undeniable classics, and I think there's no wrong answer as to which one is his best album between the Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show (the only edge I give to Eminem Show is that I think during that time his lyrics had the most weight to them, plus the rock beats were awesome). But Encore was decent, and his albums after that are somewhere between decent and classic. I still think he's the greatest rapper alive, I just think his days of making his best albums are over, and that's okay. He doesn't have shit to prove. Everyone has their prime, right now it's Kendrick's time. But Em will still destroy anyone in a cypher/freestyle/battle/feature. That's why he's still the GOAT.
Holy shit The Slim Shady LP came out 17 years ago today! So much respect for one of the most influential rappers of our generation.
Damn 😱😱😱 Cool
respeck
yeah thanks to Jimmy Iovine
I'm originally from London, Ontario. Eminem is the man. Www.minieminem.com
This is really coincidental that I'm watching this exactly 17 years after the Marshall mathers lp came out
The black guy sounds like the nerdiest white guy ever.
***** That's my man Master T from Canada he's cool you should hear him speak Patois.
Very Well Said Sammy
+Sammy Rawcee Ebonics is just hillbilly English talk.
seeing this and comparing him to the em of today is so crazy
because eminem died in 2006 and is replaced by devil.
yeah. just no.

"I was an underground MC for years. I was in a lot of rap contests. I won a lot of contests, a lot of battles. Went to LA for the rap olympics. Was constantly battling. That was my thing!"

Yeah but eminem and slim is Marshall ooowww idk anymore
Thank u
True
Eminem is like one of the only white rappers to have multiple personalities that people know him for.
I’m only 15 and I kind of wish I could live in the 60s, 70s, 90s anything. I always hear older people talking about the fun they had and how everything was so much better. I always feel nostalgic when I watch old videos like this or movies from long ago. I wish I lived in their time.
yea i wann try some qualuudes
Same here...
Same we will never know
It comes with time. As you grow old you appreciate your generation as time goes on and the newer age stuff you’ll be saying we this isn’t like when I grew up. Everyone goes through this
Don't worry kid...once you get older and older you'll feel the same way about your generation's time.
Talking about back in the day is literally a tale of time. As time goes by everything seems to get watered down compared to what it used to be. Things change for the better too but it's sort of like comparing the wild west to the civilized east, if that makes any sense.
That pissed off feeling he's talking about... It's the inspiration moment of almost every rapper. When that "boiling" point cools down over time as they reach success. It's when their career starts to end.
Behind every successful person, there's a story of struggle.
"can you honestly say youve never felt like killing somebody" yoooo im done lololol
🤣 but on s serious note if he hadn't made it he may have eventually followed through and just imagine all the lives he's touched and the good that may have never happened. I mean his kids and his brother seem to have great and happy lives and they may not have if things didn't play out the way they did. 💗-Stan (female version)
He's got a point though. What did Kim do to him for him to feel that way? xD
The 90s
Purely and unapologetically raw, unadulterated, and honest. The greatest of all time.
Marshall Mathers.
Slim Shady.
*Eminem.*
Here in July 2024 and he has just released the death of slim shady... legend.
Eminem did a great job with this interview. You can tell he had the right perspective about his role and what he brought, and how great Dre is.
Watching this in 2019. I miss the 90s
He trynna bring a new level to the game. You did that my man. Definitely
He definitely brought Dre back.
1999 in Toronto. Was a great year. 2 Years before the world went to shit.
God dayum! He said, live on TV, that he wanted to murder his wife and put her in the trunk.
Nobody could say that today, and no example of that has hit me so hard to let me know that I live in a different time today.
He _felt_ like he wanted, and expanded his explanation further. But yea youre partly right
It wasn't acceptable back then either Em didnt give a shit
Chris Dolmeth social media has changed our world for the worse.
Hopsin? Chrisdolmeth?
@@friendlyplayer92 nah, you could.
The interviewer was ahead of his time, he had the oversized jacket, the dreads, all trending right now
I thought kids these days wore slim tight jeans and tight hoodies. Also, the interviewer doesn't have the rainbow's colors in his hair.
Yea he's missing the flourescent colors in his hair tho
He def was from the Future! That's why he was so PC :)
Dumb ass, tons of people wore parka jackets / bubble coats & had dreads in the 90s.
Kids nowadays were influenced by their elders.
Lmao more like it came back like fashion always makes a comeback
The interviewer wanted to say white boy @8:32 but swallowed his words and made rapper of it lol
Hearing this interview and how they talk about Dre makes the context for the song "forgot about dre" make much more sense. I was too young to remember hearing the song as it was released so when I heard it Dre was already seen as a full fledged legend but this interview brings out that people felt Dre fell off a bit and that em was bringing him back Fascinating to see how peoples perceptions change
Exactly what I was thinking
I remember this.... Man im feeling old :(
damn a serious interview
If you look at the background you’ll notice that the 90s has bluer skies. The golden era
DrDj Music interesting
That’s the same blue we have in any desert lol I fucking hate that cuz that’s all we fucking see here. I want clouds dammit
Cross reference that exact location and those exact weather effects and the exact same saturation level for the tape used in this video- and you'll notice that the sky is just as blue today as it was then.
Man, stop....these comments are so ridiculous.
My dick is the same size as it was back in the 90's.
He's just too real for this world.
I'm born in 90. So I was blessed to grow up with good real music...
And that's all genres...
Kids these days man, now I'm closing in on 30 y.o, theres no hope..
People lived in the moment back then, unlike today..
Y'all be good✌
Rea talk! Blessed to be raised in the 90's!
90 as well. I find it strange how only in few years this guy was famous all around the world, even as a kid in Syria, I had a music cassette of the 8Mile album in the early 2000's
Born in 91. Fuck 30 years old man. I feel like when that day comes I'm gonna be very sad. Imo 30 is the age where you are officially, unquestionably, an adult. Not a young man/woman. Adult. Yuck 😝
overtime, tinnman, Tom Macdonald, their a few white rappers, but the music industries profit getting smaller, it's their own fault, you can blame RUclips, pandora, and everything else with free music. But most the time, the audio from cellphone to an actual system, sounds like crap, like when kids got the bass so high their car speakers pussy farting and bottoming out.
Yet youre still into that stupid bullshit anime. Grow up
Imaging doing something for 25 years, doing it successfully, and yet still having to defend your right to do what you do. Day in and day out. I personally am not as strong and would probably go crazy and quit. I am amazed by how resilient Em is. Not only he is a great artist, he is a great role model, too.
People connected with each other better, paid attention more, were more social, positive, and insightful.
"he doesn't look like the same person anymore" it's called aging guys, relax.
He would still look the same just older numb nuts
And drugs
Drugs is what made him look way worse it's not just a age thing
This kid reminds me of Eminem, I hope this underground artist blows up one day.
I think you fuckin kiddin'
TRIPLE X oh, you don't say ? seriously, if you hadn't pointed that out i really wouldn't have figured it out.

❤️ Eminem
Well... in 99 his videos were all over TV it was a given he was going places
I don't care if you Rock or Rap nobody last forever ! Eminem rules. ✌
Baggy 90s clothes in summer heat
Mary Poppins looked more like fall or wintertime
This was in Toronto
Eminem, the reason I started listening to Hip Hop, Thx EM vor this
It's funny to think this kid is going on to rap for the next 18 years.
When he said phrases that he used in his songs he said them in same way as in the songs. lol
"99% of the time"
"I feel like right now"
"There's a lot of people"
The legend!!! So glad that we are able to share this era with one of the greatest ever.
you know this might be one of the best marshall interviews that i've seen, lord jamar should watch that one
props for that
I think they switched voices.
Oliver Woodall I think so too . Lmao
No jus no
Ollie Goodman lmfao
Lol
Never seen a Sky As Blue As This one!
20 years of pollution
For real? Sky looks like this in summer where i live
Honestly toronto sky still is like this some days
I love Eminem he is the only celebrity that I would go crazy for if I saw him, I’d have to hold my self from running over there like a lil girl and hugging the fuck outta him, his songs helped me through the hardest parts of my life since I was a little kid all the way into adulthood, he’s like a big brother and a man to look up to for many fatherless children 🙏❤️
07:35 This is why, the real slime Shady, is real.
Cad The Real Slime Shady xD
Slime
These times are gone by. Now Eminem is pro establishment :(
Slim shady was the best thing to happen to music. :)
Being controversial > accepting the bullshit. I idolized Shady growing up, marshal tho nah
No disrespect or anything it's just my assumption: i think the current Eminem is a clown of the real slime shady! (after doing a small research and comparing the old photos, videos, rap skills and overall, the current Eminem has only 1 poker face an that's it!) Maybe 07:35 is the reason why they say he is killed!
I haven’t seen one person on their phone walking in the background 😂
There where no phones Sabrina
bruh you re so fucking dum, there were no phones back then and if there was not everyone had one bitch

This interview feels so chilled
That was 19 years ago. That's a quarter life time ago. That shows that I'm getting old.
Medicinal Mcgillicuddy
Was 9 in 99. I feel quite old as well:)
This was filmed at MuchMusic HQ which is now known as MUCH and where the CityPulse24 channel broadcasts from (news and weather). Eminem was standing there in the parking lot, located on Queen Street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada!
Back in the day
1999 - 2000 was the peak of Much Music for me in Detroit! I used to love their countdown
Seeing Slim Shady with TTC’s ALRV streetcars in the background is a special feeling, especially since I was living in Toronto and obsessed with his music at the time of this interview!
Hard to believe this interview was a quarter century ago…
i remember watching this when it first aired think i was 12 or 13 time flies
I love how obvious it is that they asked him not to cuss before this interview hahaha. "crap" "stuff." God I love him.
Ahhh the 90s. Biggest tragedy in life is that we can't go back. If I only had a time machine.😌
Crazy, his recent interview with sway after his kamikaze album mentioned him being mad too. This is interesting how angry triggers eminem
This was one of the last real peaks in hiphop. Not to hate on the genre, everything evolves. Jazz went from big band to bebop to cool. Good jazz isn't necessary on the radio. Just like good blues, good hiphop. And still, what is good. It's all subjective. But looking from a traditional hiphop point of view, where the skills in the art really mattered and the sound matched that vibe, this was the last real mainstream peak. There is still good hiphop with lyrical skills and knocking drums, but it's simply not mainstream anymore.
Damn!!!!! Take me back to these old days!!!
“Not necessarily to compare myself to snoop” he was always so humble even back as an upcoming artist. And even now he’s still so humble, I never pictured Marshall to be narcissistic.
Canadian journalism comes up strong, no bullshit questions
What's funny is am in 2020.. and am watching this video religiously like his just coming up and no one knows him... like his in his 20's trying to blow up again.. damn..
this is the same interviewer that interviewed tupac at the deathrow east thing
last 2pac interview

Master T
Master T he was a VJ for Canada’s music channel back in the day covered hip hop and r&b
I’ve never seen this side of him; he speaks with great clarity of thought. No wonder he belongs to the top three rappers in the world.
"There is still alot of hard headead people out in the world that it just doesn't matter what you bring to the table they still won't like you, but I feel like hip hop is like any sport, it's like basketball or football. If you can throw a football it doesn't matter what color you are. It doesn't matter. If you can slam dunk a basketball. You know what I am sayin it just doesn't matter. It's all about the individual person. you know. Being that if there is not that many good white rappers I don't have anything to do with that, you know what I am sayin all I can do is speak for myself. This is me. All I can do is bring me. You know so i think it really depends on the individual you know. every case is separate every case is different." VERY WELL SAID!
M&M the eloquent orator??
Oh Oh Oh foolish pride
The man is smart aside of being an artist
I feel listening Rap music when
Eminem talks generally like this.
'I'm trying to bring next level to the game' said it and did it. And still no level above.
when someone says "know what I'm sayin" 8-10 a minute; I don't know what they are sayin.

If only he would come back 😩 us Canadians NEVER get to see Eminem
Austin, why do you want to see him ? I saw u on other comments below saying that Em sign like a old why guy who just screamed??
Lol it's crazy to see that area of Toronto without all the condos it has now
Toronto was so much better back then, even the slightest reminiscence of "Old Toronto" is gone and I'm not that old but I felt for the people that were residents and were here before the 90's, I even talked to them and heard their stories of the 70's and 80's in Toronto, they all agree what hit the city was a "Tsunami of foreign customs that wiped out all local culture". Eminem just casually hanging at nows CP24 headquarters and Citypulse definitely profited off the misery and decay of the city.
I admire Eminem for speak for him and he's speaking for other that cannot speak for themselves Eminem has that courage to say what he feels
Damn So glad I got to experience the last good generation before technology took over. Em is still the MAN btw 💪

He certainly did bring it to a next level to the game, more and more til this day!
What's that jacket Em is rockin, I want it...
Jenn Valenzuela Looks like "Made in Detroit" brand. The one that Marshall is wearing here sells out quick but keep checking the website. They sell all over around here (Detroit area). But-- i remember Em like this before he blew up. He and D12 ran all around Saint Andrews back then. When Em did blow up... its all you heard at Saint Andrews🤣 Ahhh... the good old days.

Well, he wrote more than 5 bars in his career
As crazy as it may sound, Eminem is speaking straight up facts when he uses his music as his therapy.
Where has the time gone
+Alex Mercer honestly dude this shit is scary, cant believe time passed by so fast, listenin to em first tracks on mtv feels like yday
Soon our comments will be like "20 years old" and we would be pushing 50 or 60, and Eminem by then would be pushing closer to 70, and the new generations, like us today, would view us and our Era like we viewed the 60s and 70s... then we will all be a material for future historic studies long gone and probably forgotten..
sorry I had to throw that .. If I'm thinking it, then I can say it.
