Why not just keep your car until the next revision of the Accord? By then if you decided on the Acura they would have worked everything all out by then plus you would have the type S as an option too. There is a big price difference tho. I just picked up a 20 Accord Touring as I like the older style better plus I got a really great deal on it too. The TLX might have a better interior plus SH-AWD but to me it's not worth the admission which would be been around $16K more for me.
Thanks for the review I always thought the accord was a smarter choice. I just had a TL for 2years plus and that was the best car I’ve own until I had to go to the dealership and pay for repairs 😁😩
@Cuban Pete yeah but I had 3rd gen (08) TL, with 270k on it, and I drove it like I stole it everywhere, and I’m pretty sure u don’t drive like me, and plus u know damn well Honda’s don’t break in until almost 100k. Of course u didn’t have any problems
Traded my 2014 Accord Coupe EXL-V6 on a ‘21 TLX. I cross shopped the Accord 2.0 Touring, but styling won hands down. The TLX is one of most handsome sedans in many years.
Definitely no shocker that the Acura destroys the accord, interior wise especially. I just feel like they fell asleep making the newer accord, red leather, ambiant lighting and a panoramic sunroof would make a world of difference to me on the accord.
@@NS-ex5bg i believe the k5 offers a red interior and pano roof but idk about the ambient lighting But for sure the Camry XSE gasoline (not hybrid) offers both a red interior, pano roof, led interior lighting, and a single color ambient lighting, not the multi colored one from Acura if that’s okay with you
Traded in my '19 Accord Touring for a '21 TLX Advance FWD, the TLX wins all day long. The ONLY thing I like better with the Accord is the rear legroom, and bigger trunk. Thats it. TLX looks better, inside and out, nice to have the interior LED lighting, automatic ventilated and heated seats. folding side mirrors, much better sound system, ( my accord had too many rattles with heavy bass) , quieter and nicer ride. The voice recognition is way better in the TLX, although I dont know if they improved that on the 21 Accord. They should have compared a FWD car for a more fair comparison. $2000 less for the TLX w/o AWD.
I'm sorry this scoring system is the most inaccurate system I've ever seen. The accord scored a full point for having more ceneter console storage but the AWD capability on the acura is worth half a point .... more leg room in the back seat full point for accord but more premium interior on the acura is half a point?? I don't get it lol
The TLX also has automatic heated and ventilated seats. The Accord doesn’t offer auto seat climate. The TLX also has Traffic Jam Assist, which the Accord doesn’t offer. The TLX also has sensors on the rear door handles to unlock without having to unlock the front doors first.
Having been an owner of an AWD tlx and an accord, you can’t really put a value on having AWD where you hAve a true winter. Needless to say, I will only ever buy an AWD as my daily driver.
I saw a white TLX at the gas station the other day. I couldn't look away. The Accord is nice too I love those. Back seats can have different door trim than the front seats, kinda like a dodge neon with roll up rear windows and power fronts haha
Accord has a better resale value, but you can get a great deal in a used TLX. TLX uses premium gas and has a lower mpg vs Accord. it’s a close call depending on what you value. Great comparison. Thank you!!!
That hybrid Accord touring with 48 mpg city and highway is far too good to pass up. And when I plan on living in California, that's going to be quite important. I currently have a 2020 Accord LX and the trunk space, the rear legroom, the gas mileage, the great looks, all for $25k out the door, it is SUCH a good value.
Great review. No in the market for either of these vehicles. Not a big supporter of turbo engine I must be so outdated. Turbo seems to be the way the market is heading. I enjoyed watching.
The SH - AWD system is such a step up from the accords FWD system I would have gave it 2 points for all seasons and all weather Capability. Plus the cornering from the quad steering and power distribution system that keeps you glued at very high speeds 😏. Both are nice cars but owning 2 accords and now a tlx SH the Acura in such a step up but I am disappointed they removed the 3.5l V-6 as that was a true powerhouse in both cars.
Really depends on where you live. AWD where I live is only good 2 weeks out of the year. The hit you take on MPG for the AWD system isn't worth the extra $10k. The only trim that would be better from a performance standpoint would be the TLX Type-S over the 2.0t Touring. And that is a $15k difference at this point in July 2023. I rather save the $15k for other things. Either car, you cannot go wrong.
I have the 2019 version of the 2.0 T Acoord. I find the 10 speed hesitates to decide on a gear when I push the throttle hard. Maybe they tweaked it for 2021 and for the TLX. But why not use a DCT? Another thing, in Sport mode the Accord makes the throttle response quicker and stiffens up the suspension. But sometimes I want more suspension without the more aggressive throttle mapping. Maybe the Acura can do that. And finally, why pit the top TLX at $11K more? I'd be interested to see how a more comparably priced TLX does against the Accord. And though the Accord does pretty well, $11K is a big difference in class of car. I love my Accord. ...and thumbs up on the review.
@Gabe Hernandez I know, that’s why I was surprised when Toyota announced it would offer the Camry and Avalon with AWD, potentially steering buyers from away from its Lexus brand.
Someone else uses this music as their intro music. I think it’s a sports page on RUclips or maybe it’s here. But I don’t think I’ve watched your page enough lol
The TLX is a great vehicle no doubt. But Hondas are as well. I've driven a TLX and again they are nice but I wouldn't trade in my 2019 Accord sport 2.0 for it. The Accord is a better all around value and the resale value is also great. I only wish the Accord came with an AWD option.
Wow what a comparison! Excellent job. My lady is in the market and landed on a TLX .. the Awd system is a plus BUT THE non touch screen of the TLX is a huge negative. Thank you for the review. Also considering the Hyundai g70-g80
According to J.D. Power research data, 65% of TLX buyers are men, matching the average for the Compact Premium Car segment. They are slightly older than average (58 years of age vs. 56), and they're making less money than average...
A great comparison topic. A while ago I assessed and drove the V6 TLX vs latest top end Accord. Accord is more practical transportation and good value. But back to back the TLX put a big smile on my face that Accord could not. The Advance model TLX is not worth the extra $ BTW. Mostly gimmicks added. But the SH-AWD is a Wow difference. So how much is the smile on your face worth every time you drive? (PS - I bought the TLX )
George Michael doing car reviews?? Gotta have faith 🤣🤣. Seriously though you did a great job with the review and really like the split screen for comparison.
So does the Acura have a full size spare or none? About the room: you mentioned the handling of the TLX, and the tighter rear passenger compartment. The two are related. The TLX has a more sophisticated suspension system, and the design impinges on the rear passenger space AND the trunk space. So that becomes a question of whether high quality sports sedan handling is more important, or the additional room. For my part, if I were buying either it would be the Acura because I'm single and would only rarely haul additional people in the back, and having even a little more edge of control in curves is part of the enjoyment of driving.
I got the TLX and when you are buying a car brand new from a dealership a 7000 difference isn’t much when financing. I got a 2023 Tech Package which is pretty much the same as a 2021 version.
A base TLX is 37K and some change and the 6cyl option is gone? Not acceptable! Given the choice between the two it would have to be the Accord, even then I wouldn't get new because it breaks the 30K limit on 4cyl cars. I'll get a low mileage pre-owned and not take the depreciation hit.
I never thought cost should be a component of your comparisons. Value is a better component (even though it is subjective). You can compare the TLX to a well equipped Mercedes C-Class. The C-Class is $9,000 more comparably equipped. For the buyer wanting (can afford) the MB badge, it is value that is a stronger component then cost (same applies to a Honda Accord vs an Acura TLX). Lastly, most cars are leased (not purchased). If you want to use the cost as a factor, then it would be more appropriate (and realistic) to break it down further w/ residual value (using a 3 or 4 year lease) along with monthly payments.
Well balanced review. Love how simply put it was. Value vs prestige proposition, couldn’t have said it better. Couldn’t go wrong with either.
Thanks! 👍

I guess I have to test drive the Acura ,I have a 2018 Accord sport 2.0 ,I have to see the monthly price comparison or my wife will kick my butt!!!
If you are leasing you should check out BMW 3 and 5 series. M340 or 540 with M Sport package currently are cheaper to lease than TLX Advance.
@@SBM200612 I dont think the bmw is cheaper ,its stickers way higher
@@araackerman5032 at $40-50K you are in BMW territory.
Great job reviewing, I love the tlx
I got a third option, Certified pre-owned Acura TLX. I'm enjoying the nice leather and phone charger
10:22 them spinners though lol
Lmao thought I was the only one who noticed
You got a keen eye 😂
Top notch review of both cars side by side. I subscribed.
Thanks! Welcome to the Car Confections family!
Thanks for the review I always thought the accord was a smarter choice. I just had a TL for 2years plus and that was the best car I’ve own until I had to go to the dealership and pay for repairs 😁😩
Smarter choice for price?
Every dealer rip you off. Why do you think they’re called “stealership?”
Red leather ambient lighting and pano roof. That exact combo does exist for well under 40K. Just not from Honda or acura
@@naveenthemachine k5? Sonata? Or Camry?
@@NS-ex5bg i believe the k5 offers a red interior and pano roof but idk about the ambient lighting
But for sure the Camry XSE gasoline (not hybrid) offers both a red interior, pano roof, led interior lighting, and a single color ambient lighting, not the multi colored one from Acura if that’s okay with you
Great video. 2 cars very similar in options. Yet 10k difference? I’ll stay with with the Honda or wait for used prices!
TLX A spec cheaper but still has the accord features
I owe 2021 Honda Accord 2.0t touring and i love it!
Oh that acura interior is a beauty!
This video gave me an idea. 💡 What if you put the 2021 Camry vs the IS?
More like the ES.
Camry FWD family sedan. IS is a RWD sport sedan.
Style vs Substance.
Form vs Function.
Can you do Toyota vs Lexus comparison too?
And Acura TLX vs Genesis G70?
I saw a white TLX at the gas station the other day. I couldn't look away. The Accord is nice too I love those. Back seats can have different door trim than the front seats, kinda like a dodge neon with roll up rear windows and power fronts haha
would never spend $11k more on the Acura. The Honda does just fine
Because you don’t have the money???
@@iishyxvietxboyii uhhhhhh, because I agree with this video that states its not worth the extra money, duh.
@@rickrolled2691 it’s worth every penny if you have the money. Accord is missing a lot...
@@iishyxvietxboyii I guess we agree to disagree
@@iishyxvietxboyii allot like what? How much does a car need lol
Accord has a better resale value, but you can get a great deal in a used TLX. TLX uses premium gas and has a lower mpg vs Accord. it’s a close call depending on what you value. Great comparison. Thank you!!!
TLX doesn’t required premium gas. Only recommended.
Minus five points for the garish chrome bar defacing the Honda.
I don't like the chrome bar either that's why I have moded it to carbon fiber bar and it's sexy now.
Shame Acura/Honda can't improve those taillights on both models! They leave alot to be desired.
TY for this...been waiting for a comparison. My lease is up and these are the two I am interested in.
Glad we could help!
3:30 ehh that acura key fob is HUGE , -0.5 points
The Accord uses regular gas where the Acura requires premium.
I wonder why that is the case since they use the same engine.
@@casualsuede higher compression and a different tune in the TLX.
I love my Accord. ...and thumbs up on the review.
i'd choose (and did choose) the 2.0 sport over both of these, it's sexier and quicker!
If the accord had available AWD, that would be my car. It makes a difference in northern climates and Acura knows people will pay the premium.
@Gabe Hernandez I know, that’s why I was surprised when Toyota announced it would offer the Camry and Avalon with AWD, potentially steering buyers from away from its Lexus brand.
@@ejohnson3131 the Lexus ES now offers AWD but I think it’s a joke vs the Camry AWD or Avalon awd
@Gabe Hernandez no. If you want a v6 awd you need to get the Highlander or rx350. Or even the IS300 or IS350
@Gabe Hernandez oops
Someone else uses this music as their intro music. I think it’s a sports page on RUclips or maybe it’s here. But I don’t think I’ve watched your page enough lol
Brilliant comparison! Love the split screen. Camry vs Avalon vs ES350 next?
Thank you! That might be a good one!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the comparison
For $49k I'd rather get a fully loaded G70 with more power. But nonetheless, the new TLX looks good
Exellent comparison.
Thanks!
According to J.D. Power research data, 65% of TLX buyers are men, matching the average for the Compact Premium Car segment. They are slightly older than average (58 years of age vs. 56), and they're making less money than average...
Love my 2021 Honda touring in white pearl 😍😍😍 #honda4life
A great comparison topic.
Which one is softer over bumps though?
So does the Acura have a full size spare or none?
About the room: you mentioned the handling of the TLX, and the tighter rear passenger compartment. The two are related. The TLX has a more sophisticated suspension system, and the design impinges on the rear passenger space AND the trunk space. So that becomes a question of whether high quality sports sedan handling is more important, or the additional room.
For my part, if I were buying either it would be the Acura because I'm single and would only rarely haul additional people in the back, and having even a little more edge of control in curves is part of the enjoyment of driving.
Awesome video guys
About to snag my TLX for the price of the accord 🤣
Please do Lexus ES v Toyota Camry next
I got the TLX and when you are buying a car brand new from a dealership a 7000 difference isn’t much when financing. I got a 2023 Tech Package which is pretty much the same as a 2021 version.
Good job guys
It’s just me or Honda Accord 2017 has a better look than the 2018-2021? It just look too big and weird
