Employers are so hard up for nurses, nurses are going to be JUST FINE without a portfolio. Employers will really just need a resume and some references. The only time nurse portfolios really matter is if you want to land a very specif/limited-opportunity job.

Can you please do a video on tips for effective charting. Specific notes and less time. Example how to cut down on charting time.

this is so helpful!! when i was a nursing student, i could not differentiate or process this type of info from the flames of all things burning toward nclex - i was so overwhelmed just to finish school and pass boards...now that I have some space to think, breathe, sleep, and shower in peace, without the pressure since passing, i have been appeciating your nursing content on a new level:)) this portfolio 411 is so helpful!!! thank you, Nurse Blake, you are a natural born highlight to the shadows of this whirled:))

@@Me-ru6cl there's a number of things that could give you life experience that would be useful in work. So, in that case, I would make a cover letter outlining the experiences most helpful, and then my resume would hold all the usual stuff and my last job.

    Hi Nurse Blake!
New to your channel, great tips! but question:
I always thought it was inappropriate to ask your profs for a copy of the LOC you ask them to write even if it's just for yourself??

Hi Blake! Could you by any chance discuss if grades matter in looking for a job? as in will the employer ask for your transcripts, how much do grades really matter, etc? I just did my first written assignment in nursing school and I thought I'd at least get a high credit, and I got barely a pass - a grand total of 58.9/100... oh to my terror. its so discouraging and since I know nursing employment can be really competitive especially to new grads.. can you provide some advice or discuss about this topic, please? thank you.

Nurse Blake! Can i get recommendations from a manager from a non nursing position like a medical coding manager? I have a CPC-A from coding but i am in school to become a nurse so i wonder if a letter of rec would be relevant to a nursing position. i love the idea of having a portfolio and thank you for the idea! Would this be a good idea for LPNs as well? Thank you Nurse Blake, your fantastic!

I'm at a job where I'm gaining experience to work in the area I want. It would be kind awkward asking my manager right now for a letter of rec. Would asking a coworker be a better alternative?
