Hi Richard, I respect your behavior and your wonderful work. I admire the appearance of making great works in spite of the bad weather. I'm looking forward to the wonderful video.
Richard, I really enjoyed your video. It brought back great memories. In 2009-2010 I traveled to Australia for work about 20 times. I visited the Great Ocean Road and 12 Apostles 3 times and really enjoyed the place. I wish I was into night photography at the time. I dd however get some great photos during the day. I took a couple of helicopter rides over the 12 Apostles and that was very cool. I live in Chicago, USA.
what a fantastic video ,and that landscape really got my juices running and the nightscape images absolutely beautiful you excelled in that weather and to see the landscape of Australia is so interesting i could go on but i wont just to say Richard well done and keep up this remarkable photographic journey all the very best to you and yours phill
Great set of pictures from an amazing location. Yet again you made the most out of the challenges Mother Nature threw at you and you managed to take us along as well.
Richard. appreciate all that you share with us. but what really keeps me coming back is your positive attitude & making the best out of a challenging situation... Great job & wonderful images. & epic time lapse.
Great video, love that you show how to compensate for the not so ideal conditions and that you can always try and get something. The time lapse sequence was outstanding!
Hello Richard, you definitely made the best of the poor weather you were having there. Your photos looked great and the time lapse was fantastic with the clouds racing by until the moon washed out the milkyway. Well done again, hope your weather improves for the rest of your road trip. Thank you and take care!!
Thanks heaps Gary. I'm home now. Generally the weather was bad but I did sneak in another awesome night of shooting which you'll see in a couple of weeks.
Nice shots given the weather conditions. Love the time lapse as well. Sorry mate but I did have a bit of a laugh at the beginning of the video when you were battling with the hood of your jacket 😂
Stunning scenery Richard despite the blustery conditions 🌧️. The lighthouse would make a fantastic subject at the right time of year and I thought your time lapse looked great with the clouds rushing through!
Love Gt Ocean Rd, weather is often cold & blustery but still awesome. Hoping to get back there once we get out of lockdown. Enjoy your trip, love your enthusiasm.
Richard your dedication to chasing the MW is contagious. Looking forward to the MW season here in the norther hemisphere this spring . Thanks for sharing!!!
Griffith Island is an amazing spot! Love your journey along the Great Ocean Rd. Fantastic pictures. Hope you loved Port Fairy! Looking forward to seeing more... Hope you can get back to Port Fairy to capture the light house.
Hi Richard Great video, on my last visit I went to the same locations as this video. Thanks for the memories being brought back. Love the panos & time-lapse. Look forward to the next one to see if I've been there. Stay safe & enjoy your break.
Great to see you have The Sony Siii and 20 1.8G. Now you are a member of Sony user as well lol . I have had 20 1.8G lens too , I am loving it for astro photograph.
Back in 2002 I left England and headed to Australia and I drove around Oz, East to West and up North. I have so may happy memories from that road trip and the Great Ocean Road before heading to the Nullarbor Plain. I wish was into photography back then.
Great video my wife suggested a trip down there and to the Grampians next year for our 10th wedding anniversary and now I have some extra motivation to go there. Great shots and video
Beautiful place , love this channel and the fact that you make the best of the situation and still pull off some awesome shots. The cloud just made the time lapse even better.
Well what a trip Richard, the weather might have been bad but you still got some incredible shots! Looking forward to seeing your trip back when the milky way is in the east of the light house.
Thanks, Richard! Another fantastic video - AND your images are so incredible!! I went to the eastern shore of Lake Michigan (1100 mikes from my house!) and got some cool images of a lighthouse! As you experienced, the wind was blowing 40-50 MPH, It was cold, and misting rain! The waves were about 8' (2.44 meters) and they were crashing into the lighthouse! Made for some pretty dramatic images! I did learn from that trip, however -- when you go to these places with several family members in tow, I get pressured to hurry up - I left about an hour before sunset and as it happened the sunset was incredible and I think I would have caught a rainbow over the lighthouse!
Thanks a lot for watching Gary, that sounds like an incredible scene. I don't take family members with me on these trips for that very reason .. I need time and space to create these images.
Oh Richard buying hair ties ! should have found the local postie and asked for some large elastic bands all for free ! love the first image , and the time lapse.
Awesome! The time lapse looks great transitioning to moonlight. I shoot nightscape once with almost full moon in a rafting trip in the Colorado, not ideal but it was what it was during those days. Still worth it, Yes the milky way disappears but the scenes become quite surrealistic, like a day with stars. I imagine is how would look if our eyes were way more sensible.
This brings back a few memories. Visited there last year. Drive along the Great Ocean Road was grey much of the time but still spectacular. Got a break when we reached the Apostles. So hope we can return some day. I have the same background of the Apostles above my desk.
I will re-visit at some stage Milorad .. but I suspect it won't be for a while now. This is a very popular tourist district and I think it was quiet due to Covid restrictions. That won't always be the case.
Hello again, Richard. Back in 2016 I visited Australia for the first time. Was staying with someone in Melbourne and we went down to Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles. We were only there for a few hours, so a bit rushed. That's the problem when you're traveling with a non-photographer. Good timing on this video as I've been thinking that it would be a fantastic area for Milky Way images. One of these years I'll get back there again and be able to spend some time doing just that. Thank you for sharing!
Another fantastic video, Beautiful photos, Great area. I done a short edit of the same area with my phantom 4 pro v2 and named it the twelve apostles on RUclips, well I was close to the apostles but it was real busy so I will get back there soon but I was sure I was going to see your mavic up there. The enjoyment in what you do is so infectious, You are a very luck man. Thanks and keep up the great work!!! It would be great to see your images of the I think five light houses from Point Lonsdale to port fairy, There might be more I haven't researched it that's just all I can think of. Anyway I will wait for that definitely.
Thanks heaps Darren. It was way too windy for the drone around there, and there are heaps of no drone signs up there these days anyway. I will visit the other light houses in due course.
Brilliant video Richard. Looks like that wind gave you a bit of havoc again, but you still managed some awesome shots mate. Top work as always and really enjoyed the video. I’m looking at the Sony A7S3 as my new vlogging camera. Now to find the money for it 😂 cheers mate 👍🙏
Thanks a lot Adrian. Yes the wind was horrendous but I was happy in the end with the images. I sold an arm and a leg .. plus a heap of other camera gear to get the A7S3. I bought it for 2 reasons really .. Autofocus and low light ability for video .. .and the flip screen as well. If Nikon had a Z6 equivalent with a flip screen I'd most likely have gone that way. The A7S3 is a great camera but severely overpriced.
Hi Richard, Great Video and stunning landscape. Quite similar to the normandy in france. fun fact: Friends of my girl friend used to live in port fairy for a few years. They came back to germany just few days before the second lock down. Greetings Steffen
Richard, you are so positive and enthusiastic in any situation and even when the weather threatens to ruin your photo shoot, so far from home. Love your work! Excellent shots and the Milky Way in this location, absolute winner. Well done! Your attitude keeps me inspired!
Wonderful locations Richard. I have been casing out coastline maps and places to stay down that way since attending one of your awesome workshops earlier this year. Loved your musical score in this episode too.
Hi Richard the Great Ocean Road is one of my favourite places in the world and the Apostles were the last place I visited before lockdown and will be the first place I go back to when we get the green light. I always go via Lorne and I struggled to do it as a day trip (over 4 hours) that is until I decide to go via Colac which has cut my trip by 2 hours from Docklands. I'm so jealous of you right now can't wait to get out again I'm sick of taking photos of the Westgate bridge. Great video thanks.
Thanks a lot for watching Eric. Yes it's a blessing living in the country at the moment that's for sure. I'm sure you'll be out of the lock down soon though.
Enjoyed the video and the time lapse, especially. I've never been anywhere near there, but I recognize some of those locations from the "come visit Melbourne" commercials they show here in the United States during the Australian Open tennis tournament. Maybe some day.
I’m at a point now that I really like some clouds in the scene and you had some really beautiful shots there! That time lapse was awesome. Great job again and thanks as always for sharing your experiences and your knowledge with us.
I really enjoyed your video. Once the painfully long lock down finishes in Melbourne, I plan to travel to the areas you visited to do some coastal and night photography. Your video has given me some good insight into what to expect from a photographic aspect.
Your dedication and commitment are such an inspiration! Even with cloudy skies I’m going out tonight! 😊 Great panos Richard. It must have been a lot of work on post. Cheers
The images you captured are absolutely stunning! I would love to see your editing process for one of those panos and the time lapse. Your videos have really inspired me to shoot astrophotography? I have learnt so much and continue to grow with the help of your videos. Thank you for sharing these lessons and your experiences.
I'm really pleased you like the videos Steven, thanks so much for your encouragement. I do have quite a few editing videos. See this one: ruclips.net/video/a35gttmohBw/видео.html
Great stuff Richard... I see you have a Sony A7siii now. Sweet. I've a good cabin & MW here near my home in Mammoth Lakes, CA USA last night. Hope it comes out good. As always, keep up the great work.
Great that you could get away to the coast after having been restricted to regional Victoria, I could see the excitement levels rising in this video Richard! That grotto shot blend was worth the trip alone. Tremendous images throughout and filmed beautifully I’m wondering if you’ll add this location to your workshops once all the kerfuffle is over! 😉
Thanks a lot Carl. Yes it's a wonderful location for sure. No I won't be running any workshops down there. Too many restrictions and crowds of people normally.
Wow amazing shots once again and the timelapse was beautiful aswell. I also envy you having the new a7s III already, thats probably the #1 camera i would like to have right now.
Thanks a lot Maurice. It's a beautiful location for photography. I bought the A7S3 for video work but I will use it for stills on occasions. A test will be coming soon.
@@nightscapeimages.richard Right, i would use it for video as well. From what i've seen its so good you can pretty much take a video of the milky way handheld. Looking forward to the test.
Haha, Richard, looked like a typical Scottish or Irish west coast - enjoyed this vlog, and your 10,000 miles an hour windy jaunt down that awesome coast. Again, the results were amazing - no matter what is the location you choose, think the Milky Way reserved the right to get featured in every photo you take :D Brilliant work - thanks for this!
Love your work and your videos! I've learned so much from them. Thank you! Someday (when I finally get to Australia) I hope to be able to do one of your workshops. Keep up the good work :)
Missed you last week Richard, hope you've been having a great time, love the shots in this video Richard, your usual top quality. Does your family ever come on your road trips with you.
Thanks a lot for watching Suzanne. I try to have separate trips for family times . .it's really hard to incorporate shooting during the night, recording video and doing family stuff at the same time ..quite exhausting.
@@nightscapeimages.richard lol :-D, im so jealous of your Australian milky way. Wish I had the money to go and see it. I'll just enjoy your awesome shots
As a local, thanks for coming on a good day 😀. It’s gets worse, but also so much better.
What a beautiful place to live Jeff. I can only imagine it on a calm clear night. Appreciate you watching.
Some more beauties! Clouds add so much interest to the sky, and the juxtaposition with the smooth ocean - gorgeous!
Thanks very much for your comments again. Appreciate it.
Very good video Richard, beautiful scenery, great photos, a7s3 great camera for night vlog 📷
Thanks a lot Robert, appreciate you watching. Yes the A7s3 is great for night video.
Stunning images, Richard!
Thanks so much for watching Veronica
Nice work Richard, grey gloomy skies are part of the landscape along the Great Ocean Road. Keep up the great work. Darren J.
Yes indeed Darren and you know all about that mate. Really appreciate you watching.
Hi Richard, I respect your behavior and your wonderful work. I admire the appearance of making great works in spite of the bad weather.

Wonderful trip! The Great Ocean Road is one of the most beautiful places in the world where you can take wonderful photos and you did it!
Yes it is wonderful down there. Thanks for watching.
The bright foreground makes the images look very surreal... excellent!
Thanks a lot Walter, yes it's amazing what happens when the moon comes out.
Great trip! Awesome panoramas, even if the skies were not as clear as we always hope for.
Yes but that's the reality of it sometimes. Appreciate you watching.
Another great video Richard. Thanks so much.
I'm really pleased you like it my friend, appreciate the comment.
Appreciate an honest video when all does not go to plan regarding the weather.
Motivational.
Thanks very much Donny, I'm so pleased you feel inspired by my work.

Another informative video Richard, I am always amazed how many different ideas and locations you come up with.
Thanks so much for watching Gary. There were so many other spots I could have visited whilst down there but I ran out of time.
Great set of pictures from an amazing location. Yet again you made the most out of the challenges Mother Nature threw at you and you managed to take us along as well.
I'm pleased you liked the video Three-phase, thanks again for your comments.

Yes I totally agree, thanks for watching.
I really enjoy the road trip and learning how you dealt with less than ideal conditions. Fantastic images. Your hard work produced dividends.
Thanks so much for watching. More of that coming via my current road trip.

Another great video thanks Richard.
It really was like night and day in the time lapse when that moon came up.
Thanks a lot Mark. Yes it is incredible when the moon comes out .. worked out well in the timelapse.
Nice shots given the weather conditions. Love the time lapse as well. Sorry mate but I did have a bit of a laugh at the beginning of the video when you were battling with the hood of your jacket 😂
Thanks a lot Steve. Yes it was a real battle down there for a while.
Stunning scenery Richard despite the blustery conditions 🌧️. The lighthouse would make a fantastic subject at the right time of year and I thought your time lapse looked great with the clouds rushing through!

Thanks a lot Matthias. I suppose I'll have to add a Canon next so I have all my bases covered ...!!!
Nice photos as always. Scenery amazing . Unfortunately weather wasn't on your side this time. Knowing you, surely you'll revisit this place.

Reason not crowded is mainly no international tourists, usually busload after busload so you are lucky to have it to yourself.
Yes and I was very glad about that.

I'm really pleased you like the videos Steven, thanks so much for your encouragement. I do have quite a few editing videos. See this one: ruclips.net/video/a35gttmohBw/видео.html
Great stuff Richard... I see you have a Sony A7siii now. Sweet. I've a good cabin & MW here near my home in Mammoth Lakes, CA USA last
night. Hope it comes out good. As always, keep up the great work.
Good on you Bret, thanks for watching. I'm sure your cabin and milky way will be great.
sorry im late but wow as always you just amaze me every time
I'm really pleased you like it, thanks so much.
I'm in Lorne next week, so hopefully able to grab some nice seascapes.
I'm sure you will Daniel. Thanks for watching.
Great images fella, the ones from the a7siii are spectacular. I wish I could afford one of them the now but will have to wait.
Thanks a lot for watching. Appreciate your comments.
Great vid again mate.
Thanks heaps Gary, appreciate that.
Thanks so much for watching Nikhil, really appreciate that.
wonderful Richard thank a lot !!
I'm really pleased you liked it Carlos, thanks for watching.
@@nightscapeimages.richard we share the same beautiful southern sky Richard!
@@carlosgomez2428 Yes it's wonderful isn't it.
Damn Richard... You are good
You're very kind Pablo, I appreciate you watching.
Love your work and your videos! I've learned so much from them. Thank you! Someday (when I finally get to Australia) I hope to be able to do one of your workshops. Keep up the good work :)
Thanks very much for watching Kathy, really appreciate it.
