Man some day I want to go where I can photograph the galactic center. Maybe someday I can come visit you and some day you can come visit me and do some Aurora shooting here!
Hey Jake, that sounds fantastic. You certainly have some awesome mountains and glaciers over there my friend. Yes the milky way core is magnificent down here that's for sure.
Finally got chance to watch this video. Oh boy, those panoramas are gorgeous. Specialy the one where milky-way way forms arch above silo. Great job as always. Thanks for this magnificent upload and tutorial. Cheers!!
Ричард , Вы гениальный фотограф!!!!! Классный свет 💡, композиция. Млечный Путь - космически прекрасен!!! Richard, you are a brilliant photographer!!!! Cool light 💡, composition. The Milky Way is cosmically beautiful!!!
another fantastic video with fantastic images cant wait for next summer here but i will be out under the stars when i have a clear night this autumn and winter take care stay safe phill
Richard, great video - thanks mate. Nicely explained, demonstrated and great shots, thanks. Looks like rural Victoria, we are heading out in to outback WA ;looking for something similar over the next few weeks. Cheers, Pete
Aside from your photos, which I love, I'm just so taken with the southern view of the Milky Way. Here in the northern Hemisphere it is oriented so differently. I'm glad it is a summer event for us though. It is my favorite thing to do, being out in a warm summer's night photographing the MW.
Richard your such an inspiration!! I look forward to your vlogs so much. Excellent once again and if I can get shots half as good as yours I'll be well pleased. Thank you so much and keep up the good work 👍
I am new to Nightscape photography and want to begin working with LLL. This video as others you've done is so helpful. Picked up several pointers to employ in a week during a trip to AZ to shoot the Milky Way at Cathedral Rock in Sedona. Thank you so much Richard for doing this first rate work!!!
Great photos. I was amazed how well so little light actually helps. I really loved the 7 shot pano, the clouds really made this one stand out. I had to laugh when you mentioned the snakes, just seconds before when you said long grass, snakes came to mind ! That said, I'm not sure what is worse, snakes or that train that shot past out of nowhere !
Another ripper video Richard. I always pick up something valuable watching your videos. A little piece of information for you to learn on this one - snakes don't have ears mate. They will never hear you coming. They can feel vibration in the ground.
Awesome vlog Richard, as always, perfect content with plenty of precise explanation. Location was ideal, (apart from the snake infested grass). Love your drone shots too, especially following your vehicle, very nice. (Must try that sometime) good work and keep safe.
That's so useful. I already have a couple of Neewer LED light panels that I bought for fill lighting but now, as I am getting more into astro photography, they have another use. Thank you.
Once again your images completely blow me away! Thanks for sharing your incredible talents with us. Your videography is as awesome as your photography! Very well done.
Hi Richard, again some stunning panos I love them and the australian nightsky. just amazing I used low level lighting just at one occasion so far. But I guess I will give it a go in future. Greetings Steffen
Awesome images, they really pop! You truly do produce top quality natural looking images. Am very jealous of your Australian milky way, lol. We're seeing the last of the milky way now until March.
I love and use your light painting technique but, I do like using low level also. I have used low level for years. Just recently started using your light painting technique and it is great. I found an old wooden wagon and used the light a painting technique on it.
Awesome video Richard. I recently bought a larger light panel on Amazon that allows you to not only dim it but change the color temperature. I can already see uses for it by watching this video. Great job as always!
I enjoy your intros as much as the theory you share with how you get your shot, but these panorama shots are absolutely amazing! Thank you for another fantastic video!
Hey there Richard! Hope you're doing well! I got such a pleasant surprise today when a 2021 Nightscape calendar showed up on my doorstep and I wanted to give you a huge thanks for sending it! Maybe once this covid BS is over I can travel down there and learn from you in person! Would be a dream come true.
Just watched this wonderfully informative video with a cuppa before heading off to bed here in the UK..I can only dream about those wonderful shots you took Richard..but I will keep on trying ..Thanks for sharing..
I was just going to watch this video for the heck of it. I didn’t think it would be of any use to me... I was wrong. That technique is much easier than I expected it to be. I will be getting sone of those lights and putting them to use !! Thanks for sharing. Right now, I’m mostly shooting star trails, but next up is the Milky Way. Most of what I’ve learned was from your videos. Thanks for everything, and keep ‘em coming !!! Good Day ...
Great to be out again on location with you Richard. The shots of the silo are fantastic, especially the big pano at 12:30 - I do wish the MW core could look like that here in the UK! Thanks for walking us through the lighting for shots like this 👍.
Thanks heaps Paul. I certainly appreciate your comments. Yes I do love how the milky way core stretches across the southern hemisphere sky at this time of year.
Thanks Richard, You have solved a question that Had about lighting with panels and that due to the pandemic I have not been able to go out to test, with this video you have shown you have encourage me to get a lighting kit for this type of photos
You always keep up with a positive narrative style. It's great to watch your works. Also i live in Northern Hemisphere , The Milky Way doesn't look that way on Northern Hemispere, I think it's better for photography if it looks this way on Southern Hemisphere.
Absolutely stunning images Richard 👌 the video was awesome right throughout. That canola field OMG! Want to photograph that. The panos were sensational. Thanks for sharing the video and filming in that horrendous wind. Cheers mate 👍🙏
As always fella, stunning shots. Speaking as someone who lives in the northern hemisphere (& at a highish latitude) I am very jealous of the view you get of the MW. I have recently bought a Z96 after seeing the results you get from it and have like the result I got from using it, I just need these pesky clouds to bugger off as I've got a few ideas of what to shoot next. Keep up the good work and wishing you cloudless skies.
Great stuff Richard, I've recently purchased some lights and I really was surprised at how low you have to set them to the point that you can hardly see them but it works.
Great tips in your video, thank you. I just got into night photography and started using low light to illuminate the foreground. I just did a railroad terminal on a mountain pass here in Colorado.. Although I had the light on lowest power setting and a warm color setting, it still was a tad too bright but fixable in post processing. The t-shirt or light dish rag tip should do the trick. Thanks again.
Hello Richard...glad the snakes didn't get you in that tall grass!! Your drone does very well in those very windy conditions, the views of the canola fields were fantastic!! Your milkyway photos arching over the grain silos where beautiful, well done!! Wondering if you see color in the galactic core of the milkyway with your naked eyes? Thanks for another interesting and informative video with beautiful pictures, take care!!!
Thanks a lot for your comments Gary. Yes I'm constantly surprised with the drones ability in wind. You don't really see the colour in the core but it is very bright down here.
Great video. I struggle with creative light painting during stacking and vertical panorama capture in field to keep fillin light on my subject. Keeping light source on stands are really good idea ☺️🙌
Always amazing and thought provoking, you continue to keep giving me and my fellow Night Scapers ideas for shots. Thanks Richard, and yes it's blowing a gale up here too, Cheers
Fantastic location to shoot, those panorama images came out great, I wonder if you could hang a light of the drone to get it higher and how that would affect the composition? Great information and a couple of good catches on those light stands!! 👍
Thanks a lot Three-phase. There are a few trees around those silos . .I reckon the drone would be tricky at night . .especially if windy. I'm having to get good at catching light stands ...!!!
Another great Video Richard Well done! I prefer this Low level lighting over the Light Painting method myself I have even used my car or another object to bounce the light onto my main Subject and I happy with how it works out, that way it your car or other Object works as a great big diffuser to soften the light :)
Thanks a lot John. Yes I agree this lighting is more useful for very large items such as this scene . .and also when doing panoramas. Good idea about the car diffuser.
I am a couple weeks from my next adventure and I am going to try getting a lighthouse and the Milky Way together. The best composition would have been a month or two ago with the core due south over the Bay of Fundy. It will be in the South West with most of the core set by dark night. Your videos have inspired me to get out lots over the summer. Thank you so much.
Hello Richard, thanks for your Silo movie.Accomplished again,no more words.I am looking forward to next video.Take care !
Thanks very much for watching Peter, really appreciate your comments.
Thanks a million in sharing this useful technique of using LED lights for low level lighting. Enjoy watching it as always.
Thanks so much for having a look Raymond, really appreciate it.
With the clouds coming in you were rather blessed. 😎
Yes as I've mentioned before, I think a little cloud can be fantastic.

The third silo shot is the one I like. Nice pulling it off in those windy conditions.
