Miss you. Driving right now it’s 11:03 PM. Milky Way is about to rise in 90 minutes. These next photos are for you, Brother. Thank you for getting my skies clear.
Fantastic video! an invaluable asset to anyone that is looking to blend tracked images. I am hoping to get a tracker at some point on my astro journey and I have no doubt that I will be coming back to this video time and time again! Cheers!
Perfect timing as I took a MW shot in the field next to my mums house to get more of the MW in view and now want to blend that with the night shot of the house for the foreground.
Went to mt Teide on Tenerife last week. Looks like this photo is from there? Anyway, I thought about you and your video's while driving there alone. It was an amazing experience, since I've never stargazed on my own in the middle of nowhere. Now I'm going to use this toturial to blend the photo's I made. Thank you for everything, rest in peace.
Hi Alyn. Like others on here, I use sky replacement as my default and it works 99% of the time. When it doesn't I'll rewatch this cracking video. Many thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this very instructive video. If you want to improve the quality of your night sky photography, sooner or later you need to have tools available to blend foreground and the starry sky without blur. This video helps a lot in understanding manageable tweaking and fine tuning options. Keep this good stuff going …
Another fantastic video Alyn. I trust that you are well in your new surroundings. This video will be one Ill be watching time and time again over the coming months.
Wonderful tutorial thanks for that! I would have used the old method you mentioned with the content aware fill but didn't know about the new remove and ai options Thanks!!❤
Very useful. I was able to use your instructions pretty well. Only thing is that at 1:49 of your video, when I push "Select and mask," it does not create a black and white rendition of the scene, and my selection completely disappears. So I undid "select and mask" and winged it from there. I wonder what I did wrong. That said, you deserve a great vote of thanks for bringing out this info about the PS quick selection tool.
I have gotten so used to using "sky replacement" that I have forgotten many of the basic methods for manual blending. A great video explaining the methodology and new tools available that has inspired me to get out of my lazy ways 🤣
I did consider showing the sky replacement method in this video but decided to save it for a separate video :) It's super useful when you have lots of trees and complicated subjects silhouetting the sky.
Excellent tutorial. Good to see the new tools and techniques put to use. I think I’d try to create the mask first with Select Sky and refine it from there as perhaps a better starting point than Quick Selection. The new AI selection tools are making the old manual tools obsolete! Clear skies!
Thanks Alan! I recently tried the sky replacement mask on this image and it required a LOT more cleaning up with the overlay brush. I find the sky selections in Photoshop not so good when there are star trails in the foreground image. It tends to select the trails as sky which then need to be cleaned up quite a lot.
Great video 🎉. How does this process work for scenes where you're stacking? Have you had successes with the same method or is it more recommended to get an unobstructed view before merging?
Great video Alyn. Just ordered your book last night after watching loads of you videos :) One question for you, as a Benro ambassador I am surprised you haven't done a video on the Benro Polaris yet? Watched a few from Kamil Pekala and just thought I would like to see your take on it :) Look forward to your reply.
Thanks! Unfortuantely the Benro Polaris I had was full of issues so I never made a video. I recently found out the unit I had was a pre-pre-production model which they now confirm is not reflective of the finished product. I should be getting a new unit in August.
@@AlynWallace Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I have heard there were issues but I believe most of them have been sorted with the latest software/firmware updates. I know it is almost double the price of the Sky-Watcher but for the ease of set up and the fact that you can also do Panos, HDR, Time-Lapse, Motion Time-Lapse, Focus Stacking, Sun and Star Tracking I believe it will be worth the extra money. Plus it has a better payload and easier to transport than the Sky-Watcher :)
I have problems with trees as well. They are the worst. It’s to the point where I just avoid them (or make sure they don’t protrude into the sky). I’ve never been able to properly blend trees with a tracked image.
Keeping it real tho. I like how he’s calm and just being himself. Perhaps he didn’t consider posing or waiting till he could please the audience or something. I found it pretty relaxing to be honest :) It makes him more relatable
We keep watching your videos Alyn and you are still alive with us. Thank you and RIP.
Thanks for all your help mate and R.I.P

Your videos were always great, and I keep coming back to them. RIP my friend.
I continue to follow your tutorials Alyn. Sad you not around in person and longer❤

let us know where to find your new photos Sir.
One of the best tutorials on blending and masking...I now understand making much better with milky way photography! Thank you!
Thanks for all Alyn
I don't use Photoshop very much because it's just very complex.
But here you showed me options that I did not know and that I could not even guess.

This video was HUGELY helpful!!! Thanks so much Alyn!
Thank YOU Alyn. I had never thought of using the remove tool on a mask. I can't wait to try this!
I always thought: thats super difficult. With your explanation it's getting a lot easier!
That overlay brush has been saving various blends of my recent trip. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the tip about the new remove tool - I wasn't aware of that one.
Superb Alyn. I didn’t know about usin brush in overlay mode for fine tuning a mask. Brilliant tip. Thank you.
Another fantastic video Alyn. I trust that you are well in your new surroundings. This video will be one Ill be watching time and time again over the coming months.
Super helpful, thanks for making this video! It really helped me confirm my understanding of the process.
Great instruction. There are a few tips I will incorporate into my process. Keep it coming Alyn
Super useful!! I never use overlay for fixing up the mask, that's brilliant!
Thank you Alyn, very timely video on this subject.
That overlay tip is awesome! Never knew that!
Wonderful tutorial thanks for that! I would have used the old method you mentioned with the content aware fill but didn't know about the new remove and ai options
Thanks!!❤
Amazing tutorial ❤, thank you Alyn
Rest in peace Alyn
Thank you, Alyn! Was just struggling with this issue trying to post process a few images. Definitely going to try adding to my workflow.
Another of your videos to go in my Reference file!

Lol I emailed you about this exact thing two months ago. I appreciate your help then and this video now!
Fantastic just the other day I was trying to blend images two images and needed this video 🎉
good stuff, I haven't used my tracker in a while
Really well-timed video, just got to processing some photos from a trip to joshua tree. Thanks for your inspiration, Alyn!

Great Tutorial Wally. Will be sure to use this on my next edit. Cheers
Thanks for sharing
Superb!!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!!!
I was wondering how you made your profile photo’s of yourself with the stars in the background…. They are amazing 🤩
Nvm, you just shared it i see 😆
Superb, beautiful work 🏴👌
Nice work.
Great video 🎉. How does this process work for scenes where you're stacking? Have you had successes with the same method or is it more recommended to get an unobstructed view before merging?
Stacking software normally stacks the sky and foreground separately and blends them for you
Good tips, thanks! 👍

Thank you for the tutorial Alyn great video 🎉🌌📷
I missed hearing your voice at the start of each month with witns,
excellent.
Great
Hey Alyn! Any coupons for getting your book with a better price? As you say in your page... Brexit makes so much fun! 🥺 Cheers from northern Spain 🤙
My book is already 10% off on eBay right now (because I can't set up discount codes there)
@@AlynWallace Placed order this morning. Thanks Alyn!
I have problems with trees in the foreground. Foreground in your tutorial is easy to overcome.

@@rattlhed1 thats why most tutorials avoid shots with trees in the foreground. This kind of blending you see in this vid are verry easy to .
and i also never had any luck with tracked images and trees . you end up with ugly hallos around the trees.
Hello Alyn bro, how are you❤
Good thanks hope you're all doing well too!

You look very tired bro.
