- I decided to upload the full video of my drivers' license test I took this summer because I thought this would be helpful for some people that are worried about the test, so here is 100% of my own test. Fortunately, I passed of course, and it shows that if you take your time and practice ahead of time, you'll do fine. Please don't use this video as an expectation of your route for your MD test because the different MVA locations have many different routes. Good luck to any new drivers preparing for their test!

Because people cannot do it. A 70% fail rate in Maryland.
It was part of the test back in 1999 when I took it at age 17. We had to do a three point turn in the obstacle course and parallel park. Did the test twice failed the first time but passed the second time.
My test is tomorrow and I'm literally having nightmares about the backing up part.

Colderco I recommend using a car with parking sensors, I would have failed with my moms car lol, it start beeping when I was too close to the cones
So if if I back up and park can I fix myself but points get taken out?

Bad Drivers of Maryland I took my drivers test in Cecil county, it was raining when I took it, passed with flying colors. First attempt as well. This was back in October of 2016.

I just wanted to thank you for posting this video I've watched it so many times and it calmed my nerves enough for me to pass my driving test on my fourth try yesterday (Jan 11,2019). I failed in Nov 2016, Dec 2016, and Feb 2017 I was 18 then and now im 20 i thought this day would never come. Having to live with the embarrassment of failing my test so many times while watching my friends pass was very tough, but I just kept my head up. So, for anyone reading this stay persistent and PRACTICE. Find away to calm your nerves and the test should a piece of cake. PS. For anyone in the PG County area I recommend taking the test in Waldorf lines are much faster and the instructors are really nice.
Which location is this? Is this waldorf?
I'm taking my test for the 5th time tomorrow. I tried when I was younger but I believe I'm ready now. Wish me luck.

@@nyarogers2973 after driver ED and 3 fails did you have to take drivers ED again or just renew your permit after u pass driver ED do you have to take it again ' after failing the test for you licences ?

@@SydneyKate1 congratulations!! Question...on the reverse maneuver were you allowed to turn and look back with one arm on the passenger's seat and steer with only one arm?....or how did you do it?
Solz Njogu hmm i wonder if that’s allowed, i tried to make sure both my hands were on the steering wheel but that’s just how i learned to do it. I still turned my head of course, hope that makes sense 😂 good luck!!

I feel like I would be much more at ease if my instructor made small talk with me. When the atmosphere is stuffy like I've seen in other driving test videos, I feel like I would mess up because of the tension and nervousness. I hope I get a nice instructor like this when I take my test next month.

Congratulations on a perfect run. I was my proctor's best driver too. I knew it would be easy when the people infront of me did things like not signalling, being parallel parked and suddenly go and turn the wheel all the way and cut through 3 lanes of traffic blindly without looking, and whatever else happened on the course that I couldn't see. Then it was my turn to get the grump and when my perfect test paired with attitude was done he passed me, walked right past the next people waiting and went straight to my mom to congratulate me on being so good now smiling.

I love how there were a couple bad drivers during the test lol.
I took my driving test back in 1999 when I was 17. Wow they really changed the course and test. Back in 1999 they only tested you with an obstacle course like track. We had to drive forward straight, then reverse straight, then do a three point within a closed in curb, turn right out of the 3 point turn, drive around and stop at a stop sign behind the white line, and then the scary part the dreaded PARALLEL PARKING between the orange cones and metal poles. They got rid of the three point turn and parallel parking. Did the test twice failed the first time but passed the second time.
Starting my first hour of behind the wheel lessons tomorrow. Hella nervous but watching this video calms me down a little
I did my test three times and failed--twice from the backing up and once because they told me to change lanes when it's safe and I happened to do it while in an intersection; something I would've never done if I wasn't wracked full of anxiety. Watching your video and seeing the actual course played out has filled me with courage and now I'm ready for my test on Monday!

I had to do parallel parking when I did mine. You also lucked out and got a pretty relaxed moderator. I had the stereotypical MVA employee that was just an old grumpy man that didn't say a word except to tell me directions. But I can't complain too much. When I took my test I accidentally pulled into the State Police Barrack in Westminster. Something that I heard they would fail you on the spot for. He didn't fail me. He just did the pull into the parking spot part of the test in the Barrack's parking lot. I also had to take my test in a driver's ed car. At the time, the Aztek had a Check Engine light, I wasn't going to use the boat of a vehicle my dad's truck is, and I couldn't use my mom's BMW because I didn't know how to drive stick at the time.
I definitely think I could have had a worse proctor, but I still really did try hard and either way looking back on it now I would have been fine.

You had such a nice examiner. When I did mine in Illinois, I had the normal grumpy guy, except he just sat there and cleaned his glasses for most of the time and huffed when I stopped at a yellow light. I was not too impressed. It looks like the way Maryland does it is far more professional.

Thanks! Don't stress it. You'll be fine. Make sure you have ALL your paperwork.
That includes your permit, car's registration card, your "coach's" license, and the rookie driver log book.

Do you know how far to pull up before reversing into the parking spot? My instructor said I did not pull up far enough when I took my test the last time, but I'm still not sure what I should do in order to get it right. :/

What was your reference point for parking? 've taken the test before and literally cannot get out the closed course bc I mess up the parking which sucks because the driving is the easiest part lol

I live in Texas, I know I have to do parallel parking and the backing up part, but will I have to do the two point reverse turn (3:40) and any other “basic maneuvers” or just the road part?

Nice video. I came up with a list of over 30 ways to fail your driver's test. There are many things that can go wrong.
I failed twice for two different reasons, second time being somehow I failed backing into a space. It was a different course the second time and I’m going back to the original now so let’s. Hope for the best

One Question: While turning left or right do you always have to stop at a straight red traffic light with no red arrow because I failed my today because I was turning right did turned on my right turn signal but was supposed to stop at a straight red traffic light no red arrow lights or anything 😣
Yes. A complete stop is always required at a red light. A lot of people just roll them if they are making a right on red, but that is illegal, so don't do that.
Thank you! And one last thing do you have to wait till the light turns green to go and then make the turn??
Rachel Ward Once you have made a complete stop and checked for any cars coming then you can go while it’s still red. However, if there is a sign that says No Turn On Red, you have to wait for the green.

I have a question: at 3:36 you are about to do "3 point park" did you use emergency lights or only right turning light??
Just turn signals. I signalled to the right (where the space is).
I took mine for the first time on Jan 14/19. I made very huge mistake, I didn’t focused on the road I was talking to the Instructor 👩🏫 and I clearly forgot that I was taking test and then I Passed the stop 🛑 sign. When that happens I knew I failed the test so I did everything else perfect and then she said you failed cuz you endangered us which was true I never forget this day. But I’m taking it again on Feb 22. I learned from my mistake.
for the reverse turn about how do you know when to stop before u back up so u dont hit the cones
Look in your left mirror. If you don’t see it, look at the line in the right mirror.

The first part is kinda the same they just cut out the driving on the road part and the instructor isn’t gonna be in the car with you, did you take yours yet? How did you do??

how did you find where to stop and cut all the way to the right for the two point turn?
This test is so much harder than the one in Florida wow.
So do you put the emergency brake on first, before you put it park ? Do you only use the emergency brake at the end of the test, when you pull in ?
Yes and pretty much yes. Apply the brake then shift to P. Also do the opposite when beginning to drive. Shift to D then release the brake. When you do the light inspection of the car you need to have the brake on. Try to remember for the test that if you ever need to shift to P AND take your foot off the brake, you need the parking brake. (If he/she asks you to shift to P in the middle of the course, like she did for me, as long as you leave your foot on the brake you don't need the parking brake. Make sense?) You will pretty much only need to use the parking brake at the start line and at the end.
