  • DreamSMP-affiliated creator Wilbur Soot recently faced accusations of misconduct from an ex-partner. And while that was quickly resolved, it inspired claims against GeorgeNotFound. And given the many layers to these claims, GeorgeNotFound sparked a fierce debate online.
This is a commentary on the recent Dream-SMP drama, namely from the allegations against Wilbur Soot and later GeorgeNotFound.

Hey all, wanted to quickly clear a couple of misunderstandings that I'm noticing in the comments, mostly about George.
    1. I do not think his actions are remotely comparable to Wilbur's. I thought I made that pretty clear, but was seeing some comments suggest otherwise. They are both covered here because of their association with each other, and because Wilbur's accusations directly inspired George's.
    2. I am not saying that I think George's behavior was or wasn't an "assault". The only times I use that word, I am quoting Caiti. Honestly, I didn't see how it was going to be productive or helpful for me to try to attach definitive labels, especially given how murky the details have still been.

As a woman, I really dislike seeing people put Wilbur and George on the same level. The former deliberately inflicted violence on a woman over and over and over again. • @StarrChild.
    @StarrChild. 2 месяца назад +501

    Caiti's one feels too planned.
-She deliberately set up the stream and told the events the same way Shubble did. She kept the guys name hidden but was then liking tweets that were sending death threats to Dream and George. She wanted it to be found out who it was.
-She first told the story that Dream was luring people to his hotel room and that she was so shy and nervous and silent but then it was revealed it was her friends pestering Dream to come out with them and eventually they invited themselves to his room. Then she admits she was responsive and laughing and smiling at the attention she was getting from George. She was getting up and down multiple times and going back to sit with him. She was not trapped. This was also the SECOND night where the events took place. She very deliberately left out the fact that they'd been up drinking in the hotel room for two nights.
-When George addressed everything and showed proof on his version of events she comes out with "I know I don't need to show proof but I'm going to" which is just not how it works. The reason why there is the saying "Support all victims" is because in most cases like these it is hard to get proof that it happened so it's to give a benefit of the doubt to the victims. But if she had proof and doesn't show it that's just taking advantage of that good nature of support.
-She was pushing heavy blame onto Dream and George for them drinking when she deliberately left out the fact she'd been at a party before that with her friends and they were already drinking when she shouldn't have been. She was 18 and being dragged to parties by her older friends who then just left her alone. I don't get why George is getting hate when a lot of criticism should go to her shit friends who just left a drunk 18 year old alone. Even Caiti proves this point with how shit her friends are, showing they only texted her AFTER the night to see if she was okay.
-The way she told events in the first stream make it seem like George was touching her inappropriately and that she and her friend were the only ones in the room with Dream and George. Then she admits that he only had a hand on her waist and that there was 8 (i think) people in the room who all didn't see anything wrong at the time.
-She first said that George tried to message her after that but left out the fact they'd actually been messaging each other for months playfully after that night and George was the one to stop talking to her when he found out her age.
-The story she told was about her experience with George. Many of her friends, who have been very vocal about their Dream hate, used it to just send abuse to Dream and so much of the hate was focused on Dream, which is really weird. Like imagine if Shubble came out with her story about Wil and then everyone started to send abuse to Philza. There would be a lot of "wtf" but because it's Dream no-one gives a shit or looks into it.
She's changed her story so many times and was caught out in lies and fabricating evidence to try and paint George as this monster, when it was nothing at all like that. This could have been handled privately and she could have gotten closure and George could learn from his mistakes but instead she wanted this huge public sceptical that's just shown she's lied to make herself seem like a victim of an assault that never happened. She had a drunk night at a party and regretted being flirty/affectionate with someone. That happens all the time and as someone who's also done that it sucks, but that doesn't make the other person an abuser.

Here's what he said, also here is the other persons name "kopicat2429"
From Department of Justice on Assault:
Absent a statutory definition of assault, the courts have looked to the common law and have concluded that an "assault" is:
An attempt with force or violence to do a corporal injury to another; may consist of any act tending to such corporal injury, accompanied with such circumstances as denotes at the time an intention, coupled with present ability, of using actual violence against the person.
But, of course, an assault can also be committed "merely by putting another in apprehension of harm whether or not the actor actually intends to inflict, or is capable of inflicting that harm." Ladner v. United States, 358 U.S. 169, 177 (1958). Proof of this form of assault requires establishment of a reasonable apprehension of the immediate application of force to the victim. Note also that a condition in an offer of violence may negate the element of apprehension. For an excellent discussion of this concept, see Watts v. United States, 402 F.2d 676 (D.C. Cir. 1968), rev'd on other grounds, 394 U.S. 705 (1969). While the conviction of assaulting a Congressman requires proof that the defendant willfully caused an offensive touching, it is not necessary to prove a more severe injury.
      www.justice.gov/archives/jm/criminal-resource-manual-1610-assault-18-usc-351e
      Another from www.justia.com/criminal/offenses/violent-crimes/assault-battery/
Assault is typically defined as an intentional act that puts another individual in apprehension of immediate harm. Assault thus criminalizes the threat of harm itself, rather than requiring that actual harm has occurred. For this reason, it is sometimes also known as “attempted battery.” Since assault is an intentional act, it cannot be committed by accident. This means that a perpetrator must have intended to cause fear in another person, or that he or she acted in a way that was knowingly dangerous, even if a specific individual was not targeted. Assault does not require that the victim fear being subjected to severe bodily harm or death. Any reasonable fear is sufficient.
For George's tickling to constitute assault, she has to have reasonably feared harm. For that to happen, we'd need context. I don't know if she did or didn't. I wasn't there.
But just touching someone is. not. assault.

As someone who has been through a similar situation to what Caiti claimed to have happened, I find it difficult to believe it. When I was about 15, I was at a friends birthday party when a kid that I had rejected multiple times wrapped his arms around my shoulders so tightly I could barely move and growled at my (at the time) girlfriend when they tried to sit next to me again. Like Caiti claims, I had reasons to feel that this was just something I had to deal with, I did not explicitly say no, and most of the people in the room with me noticed and made comments about how uncomfortable I seemed. However, after I made an excuse to get up, I talked to my friends, made an effort to not sit next to him again, and left the party as soon as I was able to. I find it hard to believe that anyone in that situation would willing go back to it multiple times afterwards and continue to text him for months in such a friendly manner. Idk, I know it's not always a good argument to compare one person's experience to another, but her story just reminded me so much of my own, and I just feel weird knowing that something that was so awful for me is being twisted like this.

The thing with Wilbur is that he acknowledged that he engaged in biting. Shelby wasn't saying the biting alone was abuse, but the continuing and biting harder after the use of a safeword was. And it is. Continuing with an act after your partner uses the safeword is no longer engaging in a consensual act. After the safeword, it is assault.
In George's case, I hesitate to take a side. From both of their stories, it sounds like two drunk people getting a little touchy, then one of them regretting the interaction after, with a sober headspace. I don't want to invalidate Caiti's feelings because maybe she did regret it, and it's weighing on her. That's not my place to say. But I also don't think George was trying to do anything malicious. If anything, I think George was trying to be pretty mindful of his interactions with Caiti even in his inebriated state.
Based on what we know now, Wilbur is abusive and a danger to those close to him, and George was involved in a misunderstanding between two drunk individuals that he says he'll learn from going forward.
Edit to add: I agree with you on what you said in the last few minutes. Even if no one had malicious intent (and I don't think there was any malice), there was a lot of stupidity and lack of self-preservation on Dream and George's part. This is for clarification on what Assault is and this is from a commenter (Kopicat2429) that had messaged this Wolfiu person before in another comment (reply) section, this is mainly just here to say that this persons "ideas" of what laws are, arent actually what the law IS. Hope fully this clears things up.

Tickling on the stomach is on the same level as cuddling for me, although i personally feel that cuddling is more intimate than tickling lmao
Absolutely wild. Cati has been caught in far too many lies with her recounting of the events that it ruins her credibility in my eyes. One or two small mistakes i could maybe look over but Jesus.......

Caiti's unusual level of repulsion/regret over what most adults would consider very tame definitely makes me think her emotional maturity level was just not ready for that type of interaction. I remember feeling kind of similarly when i was around 14 and was in a couple situations that i now know i was not emotionlly ready for. Unfortunately, that feeling didnt really fade for a few years after that, so i hope shes able to work her way through it and feel better soon.
But i also really dont like how she has chosen to act upon the gross way that she feels. This isnt going to make the gross feeling go away, only make it worse.

As someone who has had the george situation all over my timeline for qeeks now, I've always felt a bit weird by the reaction to it. This applies to many similar situations, but it deeply disturbs me how eager and almost excited people seem when someone is accused of being a predator of some kinds. Making jokes and memes and "HELL NAW 😭" esque posts. It feels no one actually cares about the situation itself, just who it's about.
As for my personal interpretation on the situation itself, I find myself agreeing with your interpretation a lot. Now i can give the tiniest bit of leeway for them assuming caiti's age, that being that they were already allegedly drunk before arriving, meaning they might have been drinking at the event itself, which would (hopefully) mean they were ID-d. Now i do still agree double checking, especially with the position of power Dream is in, should've been done, but again I think it was just recklessness and hopefully doesn't happen again going forward. Also i saw some people saying he "should've known" her age based on her appearance at the time, and as someone who hasn't grown an inch since middle school and gets mistaken for being aay younger than I actually am (20), and by extension my mother is often mistaken as my sister, some people just look way younger than they actually are lol. If George is telling the truth in that he used her being drunk to assume her age, it's not too crazy. Irresponsible though, yes.
Now for the implied consent. I don't want to flat out say caiti wasn't uncomfortable or didn't feel any pressure. However, i do kind of see where George is coming from. Now, him getting verbal consent would have been best, absolutely, but I also think (if again he's being truthful) he wasn't ignoring her consent, if that makes sense. He watched her closely for signs of discomfort, took notice of her getting up and returning, and even later in the elevator not making any further advances to invite her when it was just the two of them (not applauding him for that since it's obviously the only correct thing to do, just pointing it out). Still, overall I do think he should've gotten some verbal form of consent before slipping his hand under her shirt since that is something that is a clear step up from just cuddling. Also want to add Destiny's comment of "she should be lucky" is fucking disgusting.
I don't personally believe Caiti is malicious, in fact i think her calling out George's questionable actions is warranted, although privately. I do actually believe she probably felt pressure in her situation, but I'm honestly more concerned about her friend group in this scenario. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but were all of her friends in that group that we publicly know about over the age of 21? Because if so that's REALLY concerning to me that THEY knew she was under the age of 21 (barely an adult at that) ALLOWED her to get drunk in a public setting, then afterwards having her tag along into the hotel room full of a bunch of adult men in their 20s to drink more? Then not stepping in to tell them of her age, especially if they saw her in that situation with George? Even if one of them is over the age of 21, I nelieve some fault should also fall onto them alongside Dream and George, because they probably had MORE awareness of how bad this situation was in that moment. This is just my tin-foil hat theory though, and god I hope I'm wrong because it worries me imagining Caiti being friends with someone like that.

People nowadays actively seek out stuff they can be enraged, offended, simply bvtthurt about or just don't want others to like.
That wouldn't be so much of a problem if at least they tried to look at both sides and, most importantly, wait for accurate info to come out instead of hearing a sob story from another attention-h0e and then just roll with that being a hard fact for all of eternity. And don't you dare try to correct or educate them on the actual truth; they'll wish you unspeakable things and call you whatever insult they can think of.

His apology and added note that he had no malicious intent while being backed up by real time witnesses is the cherry on top.

Ngl this shit is cringe. How do we spend an hour going over how this chick lied about important parts of her story and still bend over backwards to critique Dream and George?
Don’t get me wrong, you can nitpick at them not verifying someone’s age at their event if you want, but it just seems so dumb to me. I used to have a fake ID before I was 21 and have never been caught when going into clubs in different states. Idk why I would expect two random RUclipsrs to have tighter security than clubs and bars but whatever. I agree that they should do it btw, I just feel like the only reason to focus on that is the fear of being labelled a rape apologist or something. Which is fair because of how the internet is but annoying to see when this girl can be caught lying and possibly faking messages and still not receive as harsh a criticism as the two men in this situation, who if we’re being honest, are clearly the real victims of some weird campaign.
But it’s the internet so whatever. The more interesting part of this should be figuring out if it was coordinated and if so, who was involved. But instead now that George has been cleared we’ll just lighten the criticism from sexual assault to do better verifying age and pretend like none of this ever happened

Caitie is valid to feel that way, and I would even say it’s okay to vent about that discomfort but maybe not reveal names because it wasn’t truly a non consensual encounter with any malicious intent. I’ve experienced sexual encounters that were consensual throughout, but have still traumatized me. I would never try to ruin someone’s reputation because of my reaction though. I think she just needs to work through her feelings in therapy, we do things we regret all the time. It’s part of life unfortunately, and we can’t go around demonizing every person that we have a regretful encounter with.

I am becoming more and more extremely uncomfortable with how situations like this is handled. No one’s first response to assault or any crime for that matter is to take it to the internet first and foremost. The fact that it has been happening with more and more frequency has left me the first thought that the victim is doing it for attention. That deeply pains me as a victim myself. Although I have spoken about my trauma there have been situations that I have not disclosed due to guilt.
The other thing that has been bothering me a lot as of late, is the internet’s response to accusations. No one. ABSOLUTELY no one is skeptical any more. No, I’m not saying that everyone’s first response to an allegation should be “they are lying!”, the first thought should be “I don’t want to doubt a victim but I would like some evidence or corroborating testimony”. The internet is so gung-ho on getting creeps, pervs, degenerates, and everything in between that they take a victim’s story as 100% fact, no room for doubt allowed.
Another thing is the internet has this VERY bad habit of attacking those who DO want to reserve their judgment on someone. I’m starting to think people believe it’s guilty until proven innocent and not the other way around. It’s okay to reserve judgment until you know more information and it’s okay that you are unsure of a situation. You are only one person and not everything is black and white. This is coming FROM a victim of a lot of different situations that no one should have to endure.
My message for the internet: Please reserve judgement on a situation until you are either 100% OR are willing to admit that there isn’t enough information to draw a conclusion from. Just be aware that the same thing can happen to you and you will want people to listen to your side.
Note: I love that final few seconds where you’re playing Minecraft, it’s hilarious.

As a rape survivor who has worked with and talked to many other survivors of both rape and SA, I am very concerned about the girl in the tickling incident.
I've seen some comments where they say tickling is not SA and I counter that by saying it can be, especially when under one's clothes and I would call it such if it was a guy doing this to a younger girl at a work place where such touch is absolutely inappropriate. At a party, however, with both people being intoxicated, seeming into eachother and her neither saying no or to stop I think it's going a bit too far to call someone out publicly on the internet as a sexual abuser.
It is ok for her to regret not stopping him and also ok for her to be upset that he even did it in the first place, but I think that this is something that could have better been handled privately. I don't think putting it out on the internet as a "part 2" following the serious relationship abuse alleged by Shelby against another guy in the friend group was the best idea as, judging by the comments, people are seeing it as clout chasing over exaggerating hypersensitivity, despite how valid her individual feelings are.
Whatever her intentions were with putting the video out, I do think she needs to seek help, therapy or group counseling. I have never heard of anyone describing PTSD like symptoms and wondering if they will ever be the same again after being tickled but the fact that she's had such an extreme reaction makes me think that perhaps there is something that needs to be looked into there. Of course people who have had a history of sexual abuse can react much stronger than typical to casual or flirty touches and memories can also be repressed.
On the other hand, and I'm hoping this is not the case but I feel it wouldn't be fair leave this unsaid- It is also very concerning if this is a young woman, recently of age, using another woman's legitimate domestic abuse story to get attention and accuse a man of sexual assault for tickling her- well thats a problem. If that is the case I would still encourage that she seek some kind of help.

Ok... I'm seeing that it was a 21 and up party potentially with wristbands so he thought she was older...
And she changed her story and faked information. She absolutely needs to seek help for accusing someone of sexual assault for tickling her. Those of us who have actually gone through assaults have enough issues with being called liars, told we were asking for it because of how we dressed, told that girls always make stuff up about guys to get attention when they don't like them. The LAST thing we need is girls ACTUALLY MAKING THINGS UP to accuse guys with. Then the people who think that way have actual examples to name while telling us what happened to us didn't happen.

George was cleared there wasn't even SA (they didn't have sex) she tried to ruin his life and career just to elevate her own, it's just that simple. She had every opportunity to sit away from him she even could have left with her friends but the whole time she lay there cuddling and laughing? lol 🙄 She was looking for a transactional relationship at this party "I was excited to be around such big creators i figured that's just how things were, that was the price i had to pay to be there, that anyone would have loved to be in my position" those are her words! she was willing to sell herself to grow her brand and when that didn't work she went the false allegation route. Cuddling, tickling someone's stomach and laughing together is not SA! At no point did she do or say anything to lead this man to believe that she was bothered, people are not mind readers. She was adult enough to take this trip, go to this party, drink knowing full well she is not 21 so where is her accountability in all of this? she inserted herself into a gathering of people that were 21+ all that being said if you throw a party make sure you know who's there, these guys can afford to have someone at the door checking ages lol

The Caiti situation is fucked up. Listen to both sides. The way she tried to craft this to ruin his life is disgusting. The charged language and the insinuations are seriously reprehensible. Anything short of legal consequences would be an injustice. Everyone who cheered on this act calling her brave and wishing death upon George ...you should take some time looking at your reflection and wonder why you are the way you are.

Don't follow these creators at all - I just watch this stuff cause I have a teenager and a pre-teen who are venturing onto the internet. I am finding myself shaking my head at apologies - "I am an adult but I am just now understanding X,Y and Z about other people" is such a limp response and I thought the guy acted more or less decent to the girl. I disliked how she framed it like a gangbang was planned and he tickled her, clearly there is some poisen being dripped into this story by her or her friend group. Her word choice is deliberate as to paint her in the best light possible and he took a hour of cuddling and ended it with a bare skin tickle. Sorry, but if you want to go to a hotel already drunk and participate in drinking games and other things and you let ANYONE cuddle you for a period of more than 15 minutes, I don't think you can cry foul if they playfully flirt. He took the no, he walked her back to her room and left it at that. This is the kind of stuff that diminishes stories like the biting and/or other actual SA incidents. Also - her theatrics were a bit much. I do agree that these are a good case study and we are too focused on sensitivity to the point where critical thinking sometimes takes a backseat.

George and Caiti's situation was just a huge misunderstanding. I want to believe no one was malicious (except maybe outside parties), and no one was the "bad guy." But according to Twitter, you can't make mistakes anymore; there's only good guys and bad guys. We shouldn't think like that. We should be taking mistakes we make and learning from them. George hopefully takes what he learned to heart. And although Caiti got very blackpillrd from this, I hope she learned something as well like don't drink with total strangers or how to stand up for herself as a young woman - unfortunately that is the world we live in and we have to do our best to try to make it a bit better.
Even for the Wilbur situation, it's grey. There's Shelby's side, Wilbur's side, and somewhere in between is the truth, and we'll never know. It is what it is and that's okay. We don't have to pick a side and put it on Twitter. Most of the time people forget about this in a week, so do our choices matter?
In conclusion, you're right that this was overblown. A lot of these cases get overblown by the spectators. My theory is because most people didn't read/listen to the full stories. People who say they supported Shelby and Caiti didn't even have the facts about these girls. They also refused to listen to the side of the accused. The truth is always somewhere in the middle; you need both sides. For Caiti mainly, if you read her side in full, you'd see the cracks. I know that not every accusation is false, embellished, or reinterpreted, but if you want to claim to support a victim, maybe try listening to them fully. It seems that people are more excited about punishing the accused rather than listening to the accuser and its really sad because that's how false accusations slip in. I know not everyone has the time to do it, but it's great that people like you take the time to actually listen to everyone entirely and try to find the truth. Great video as always Jimmy 👏

i think this more applies to cati, as shelby has had people who knew both of them personally and were thought of as wilbur's best friends come out and support her. but yes, people believe anything way to easily, and no one seems to realize you can support victim's and not attack the accused.

I feel so the title is misleading (haven't watched the full video) a bit since I think Goerge didn't hit rock bottom, I feel that he explained himself pretty well, Wilbur on the other hand did not. So yeah in my eyes only Wilbur hit rock bottom so the title is a bit clickbaity.

We all have been in uncomfortable situation. Knowing the difference between what is an SA vs being uncomfortable is tough especially at her age. But instead of messaging him going "hey I was uncomfortable last night." that would've cleared the air. It depends on how he respond.
Her friends truly need to check themselves too. Instead of asking Geogre what happened that night, they just assumed that he had malicious intent and SA'd her when misunderstanding can happen. When there's no clear consent, you rely on how they react, aka body language. It doesn't matter if you never met each other before. If you don't verbally give your consent, they would just assume it's ok, especially when you got up and went back to cuddle them again.
I'm trying to be lenient with her considering her age. But it's hard because it's someone's career she's fucking up. I support the "Believe all Victims." But when you deliberately lied but also withheld evidence it's hard to side with you, especially when she knew he was going to respond.
And knowing that you are underage drinking and then blamed it on them is quite a shitty move. Which btw your friends who were older than you, didn't even stop her from drinking. She was NOT SA'd. She wanted to meet her idols. Got drunk and then flirted with him. She told her friends and they were like it's weird cause he's older. After he found out her age, he stop talking. I think that kinda pissed her off a little.

The George situation from a European perspective is so fucking weird. She was 18 and he was 26, call me insane, but I've seen that happen before. Also the legal age of drinking here is 18, so that's no problem either. Also I think that ANY guy could've been in Georges situation, or any girl for that matter. It really seemed like she was acting like she liked him, and he fell for it.
