Hello all! I was wondering folks... Do you make things like journal cards) to have a stockpile to pick from at the ready or do you make as you go for a specific journal?
I do it both ways, depending on the journal. If I am making for a specific person, I make most things up as I go along. But, if I am putting together a general, junk journal, I just make up a bunch of stuff and then use those.
I watched your video on making a junk journal because I was thinking...why would anyone want a journal made with junk....Good Lord help me I am afraid I found my addiction. I still can't say that I would ever write in one of these beautiful pieces of junk art but they have captured my very crafty soul. Love your art and easy going ways, thank you....off to goodwill for some junk nature books that i won't mind cutting up.
Hi Meg! Welcome to the family! Boy can I relate! Everything will soon look like fair fodder for a journal! Come down the rabbit hole with the rest of us! Its fun to make journals of all kinds! And always remember! Its only paper :)
That napkin/tape trick! 🤯 And the gesso trick to calm down the shine from stickers. Wow! This is the first video I have watched of yours, but already a fan!
I thought I want to laugh at least three times a day...not like ha! Be hahahahaa! I learn so much bit I laugh quite a bit at the same time. Thank you...I can at least meet my quota and ceeat some wonderful things...liberating.💫💞⚘ p.s. I have been making as I go...but I like the idea of sessions like your videos.
I've been doing a little of both. The first tech that I made were supposed to be to hold my altered dominos and I did mass production. Then I got a little to fancy and they overwhelmed the dominos. So I have a bunch of them. Then my things were packed and I was watching utube and saw junk journals and fell in love with these and I made the epherma as I went. I did do some mass making of paper clusters when I had no cord to sew signatures into 9 to12 journals. Now I've moved again and my craft materials are again all packed and not crafting was driving me crazy so I had found some of my fabric scraps and lace drawers so I mass made fabric clusters. NIW I'm playing with envelops. I bought a little book to cut up and have made a couple of multiple pocket cards. I made 2 purple card sized that I was going to make into flips, but they would look lovely on journal fronts so I want to mass make more similar to those. I love these little ones. Espically the way you made the heart
Hi Pam, I've watched many of your tutorials but not commented thus far....a little remiss of me! I'll stand myself in the corner for a bit...but what I wanted to say is that I love you come what may attitude, the way that you demonstrate, explain, talk yourself through your tutes. You are so endearing. I also love that your worktop is not pristine, but shows the wear and tear of crafting. Thank you for your tutes and the manner in which you share your love for crafting. oh btw, I love how you used the sanding block to remove the tissue from around the journalling card, but though it was too cumbersome to use on the heart. You could use an emery board on smaller, more intricate objects like the heart. That's what I thought you were going to do. Regardless, thanks for the lessons and the laughs. Jude in the land of Oz!
L B I am obsessed with napkins! I have a drawer full! I wish they sold them in five packs so I wouldn’t have to buy 20 of the same design. I should start a napkin trading club!
Pam I have to tell you that I really enjoy your videos and you have helped me to start my day on a happy note. My husband and I live with my 93 yr old father in law to help him out, well this past month he has drastically declined and finally is at peace this past Monday. I was watching your video and it really kept my spirits up and today is the first day I had time to sit and have my coffee and to watch you! Thank you for being there and keeping my spirits up! I will still continue my ritual, but at least I know I won’t be heading into a long day. ❤️
Donna, I had no idea! I am very sorry for your loss. He was lucky to have you as family for sure. I wish you much relaxation and rejuvenation when possible. Many blessings to you and your husband.
Don't rub, daub, as you rub...every time. LOL Very pretty do dads too. I make them ahead and also if I want a specific one to match a page, I make a custom order one. Haha
I have many flower and butterfly pages torn from an old set of encyclopedias that were kindly gifted to me! Thanks for the notecard ideas! They turned out just as nice as yours!
Hi there, Good Morning! I had an idea about how to tear the excess napkin from the side of the 💙... you could try using a damp bup wipe ( baby wipe, my son called them Bup Wipes) to run lightly around the area you want to tear. It should tear right along the wet area. Also works well when you need to tear a particular shape from your napkin, but use a tiny paintbrush. Thanks for your fabulous tutorials! I'm having so much fun! Have a beautiful day!🌸🌼🌺
Well I stumbled on your channel. The bird has to be vocal. You never stop talking! You get a sub and a thumbs up from me. I love your technique and I think you are a good teacher.
Yes I do on cards and I make ahead little pockets out of toilet paper rolls. Then I can just grab one when working on a journal. Big plus I can do them when I’m tired they are fun and fast!
Oooh I knew there must be something I could make out of the rolls. I used to collect them to fill and make crackers for Christmas but then got too many so chucked.
I don't know where you come up with all of these fantastic ideas, but I just LOVE this one! I have so many napkins that I use in decorating the junk mail envelopes and would love to use them somehow in my journals. I used to try to make/find supplies as I went along but, thanks to you, I now have a great time making and stockpiling ephemera. I'm a Stickles addict now, too, LOL. Like you, I have to consciously move my work to a drying area or I'm constantly smearing Stickle art. You've given so many of us the inspiration and simple ways to become crafters. Not sure I can express just how thankful I am for all you do. Thank you and God Bless!
Julia sent me over because she found your button dangles and loved them! She showed us how and used them on her jourles and books, her quilting, etc! Now I am exploring your channel. She said you are great !
OMGosh . . . just discovered your 'tape trick' for separating the layers of napkins. It is genius! I'm not new to crafting (even owned my own craft/rubber stamp store), but have NEVER made any junk journals. I have learned sooooo much watching you videos. Thank YOU
I'm so bad at making tags but I found my corner rounder. I am good at book marks. I have been doing this all weekend just making stuff out of paper it's so much fun. I haven't done this in over a year. I have been having so much fun just playing with paper and other things I have to glue down. :)
Absolutely gorgeous x I love them all x old words and pretty napkins are my fave x as always you are a joy to watch and listen to, and I even find myself talking like you and to myself, and chuckling fondly at the thought of hobbit hairy hands x much love from the UK and God Bless talented beautiful lady xx
Just happened across your channel and love it! I have ADD and I love that you are quick with not a lot of extra talking about unrelevant stuff as others do. I lose interest very quick usually but this vid is perfect. Thank you 😊
I go through old cards & cut out words, and some magazines too. Also I cut out large numbers and large letters which look good to have just one of them on a page or card. Also the large fancy script capital letters look good, such as an E or W.
I am new to journalling so am making as I go, but once I get organised I will make a stockpile to call on when I craft! I am loving making a journal for my very special friend and have really loved making it for her! Just some stamping to do and a couple more journal cards, was a bit short of ideas! But love what you have made! I am going to make what you have shared, thank you!!
Loved the video! Thank you for the tip to ' knock back the shine' by using clear gesso!! Never seen that before!! Your awesome as usual!! Thank you for sharing your creative talents!!
Hello , I just subscribed to your channel. I love 💗 your tags . Very pretty . I like the Nuevo drops . I don’t think I’ve seen anyone use them . I’m new at junk journaling. I made a December daily . I’m very happy with it . I enjoyed your video . Thank you for sharing. ♥️ 🌺 ♥️
Hi Fern Anton! Welcome to the family! I am very excited for you on your new hobby! You will find many friends here :) Thanks for watching! :) Pam :) !!
I just discovered you channel today and I am OVER THE MOON!! I love so many things about your channel. You are a born teacher. You explain what you are doing so well and make the procedure so clear. Your sense of humor (which is something I refuse to live without) is fantastic. You take the time to LIST THE PRODUCTS YOU ARE USING as well as the link to purchase it! That is a HUGE plus for me. You do all of this with a pleasant voice (so important a trait for a RUclipsr) and to top it all off, the projects you choose to do are so interesting. I have only seen 5 of your videos, but I plan on BINGE WATCHING your channel on Christmas Day. As a gift to ME! Thanks so much for this video and for all your videos that will be in my future. I have already learned so many tips from you in just 5 videos. So much fun!! God Bless and Merry Christmas. Lots ofLove from Texas!❤️
Wow! I am totally floored Debbie! Thanks for your very kind words and for taking the time to let me know this in your busy day! You completely made my day!! God bless and Merry Christmas to you and yours!!! :)
Wow your channel was recommended today, I’m addicted to your videos. I love how you think out loud. Truly enjoy watching you and your creative process. Thanks for the great tutorials.
More great offerings from the Outpost! So glad to know about the clear matte gesso. I enjoy mass making. When I deconstruct a book I separate the pages into piles: envelopes, fussy cuts, pockets, etc. Then I do the basics, faux stitching, inking, background stenciling...it’s nice to just open a box or two, pull a few things out and then go to town customizing!
Thanks, Pam for a great idea! I spent my day in quarantine doing a variety of book page tags with the napkins. I love them! I appreciate the tutorial of pulling both plys from the napkin. I had previously ended up with "puffy" napkin projects and now I know it's because I didn't get rid of both plys.
Hello all! I was wondering folks... Do you make things like journal cards) to have a stockpile to pick from at the ready or do you make as you go for a specific journal?
Pam 💜♥️. Ty again for another wonderful idea!! I I can’t cut a straight line for nothing. LOL
I do both. I like to stock pile but sometimes the ‘theme’ of the journal calls for something different than what I have.
I try and mak ethem in all colors cause these are my favorite to do! Again a video that is so pretty!
I do it both ways, depending on the journal. If I am making for a specific person, I make most things up as I go along. But, if I am putting together a general, junk journal, I just make up a bunch of stuff and then use those.
I do both. I especially like to make things in front of tv. So those items often become my make aheads.
I watched your video on making a junk journal because I was thinking...why would anyone want a journal made with junk....Good Lord help me I am afraid I found my addiction. This only serves to feed my current obsession with napkins, and gilding paste, thank you. ~ Lisa

:)
Beautiful Pam!
Thanks sunshine! :)
Todos trabalhos seus é muito lindo adorei 👏👏 Boa tarde amiga 🙏💋❤
These are pretty! To answer your question...I'm a beginner so I'm making them as I go. It would be fun to have a stockpile tho.
Hi Linda! I predict you will have a stockpile before long ;)
I'm adding floral paper napkins to my shopping list! Fab as always ,many thanks
Hurray!! :)
These are really cute. I loved the aging of the napkin; on your original ones I thought it was paper you used. Great way to hide that fact.
I am the queen of hiding goofs ;)
Much fun. Thank you
I just love how you create such beautiful projects out of nothing! Most of all I. Love your lighthearted personality!❤
