+Bert The Stormtrooper I don't know, mines the repaint one from the later seasons, and he's pretty beat up. I was verrryyyy rough on my toys, I kick myself over it now. If I ever come into riches or win the lottery, I'll get an entire league of Optimus's. But I'd have to collect all the Highway 35 and Acceleracers cars first.

I do love how different this Optimus looks compared to the others and wise other Primes were as original as this one. Heck they were originally planing to make this Optimus turn into a monster truck.

@@c.w.j8456 I honestly prefer it that way. 'Cause if you make the toy figure first, and design the character after it, you'll have, at least almost, spot on screen accuracy.
This was the first Prime I ever had. Got it when I was very young. Still have (some) of it today; missing parts, and a lot of 'em. Kinda makes me sad, but at least it's not totally gone.

They used the matrix a couple of times in the show. The first time was when Optimus went and intercepted a blast from the hydra cannon that was aimed at earth, he disintegrated from the blast but he left behind Sparkplug who was found by Jetfire, clutching the matrix. The second time was when he threw it into space for his final battle with Galvatron and proclaimed "I'm not fighting you as the Leader of the Autobots, but as the Commander of all Transformers!" or something to that effect.
I know a few people who give this toy some flak but honestly growing up with aramada I always wanted it and thought it was cool. I finally picked one up through ebay and I do NOT regret it! Childhood dream achieved!

I still have this one, sadly, when I move a lot of things got lost which was very sad
One thing I must say that alot of people miss (unless they are reading the instructions) is that the "Map Screen" on the Trailer should be in the Up position before you plug the Torso into the Trailer for Super Mode. Many reviewers do complain about a wonky fit, and fail to do that.

This is the Prime of my childhood. He looks so cool, especially in Super Mode. I always wished that it could have much better articulation. The Deluxe (Super-Con) version was my favorite for bringing out the best of the standard cab Armada Prime. Combined with Jetfire and Overload, this is the flat out most awesome Super Optimus Prime, in my opinion, with Cybertron and the in-Movie-only version of Powered-Up Prime in RotF and DotM right next to him.

I just got armada prime lately and he is quite fun. Some people tend to forget those things were made for children to play with, not adult collectors. If I were seven years old again and had to transform one of the never bay primes taking several minutes, it would take away a lot of play dynamic.

This guy and starscream where my childhood. I remember moving into the house my parents still live in when I was 9 years old. All I had to entertain me all day for about a week in the big empty house while my parents painted walls were those two. I'd go up to my would be room and play with them all day having optimus and starscream fight or fly and drive around. I miss those toys, I've long since lost them or my parents got rid of them, i'll be 24 next September after all so it's been years. One day when I have the extra cash I think i'll buy some replacements just for the memories.
This takes me back. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I still remember when I was young, I got bullied and I used to come home and play with this toy.
I got this version back then in Xmas and I played with it a lot. I, now, got a more show accurate mode and still pretty fun. :D

Bert The Stormtrooper Kinda. I have it... but I for reasons (and a little curiousity) disassemble the toy (the old one) to know how was in the inside. It's on parts now, besides, before that, the batteries and the gimmicks of the trailer didn't work and parts were missing.
I had Armada Galvatron when I was a kid and I ALWAYS wanted Armada Optimus Prime so they could fight. I just thought that Prime was so cool with all his different forms, but I never got him. Still, awesome toy.

Rad: "Hey it's a portable command center. Boy if I seen that transform with my own eyes, I would have believed it."

Oh one other thing Fans Hobby is making their version of Armada Prime, MB-15 and yes the trailer has articulation when combined into the super mode, and is also a battle station like the original toy with some new tweaks.

+LockeLynx I don't know if Armada Prime is quite ready for an MP release just yet, but I'd love to see a new version of this done in the Classics style! Maybe with a transformable trailer, take out the electronics and make it articulated!

The combination of Optimus and Jet Jire is impressive but I don't know why he lost so easily in episode 29 to Burning Megatron combined mode

Out of the 3 Unicron Trilogy Primes, this was my second favorite Standalone, and Favorite Combined with another figure. Beer Gut Optimus was my least favorite all around, but that series had alot of letdowns. I also recently compared a Yelloy Lambo Micromaster to Sparkplug and was kinda amazed at the similarities. I personally never did get Overload back in the day and always wanted it (actually I missed out on 9 total figures from Armada and I think like 3-4 Minicon teams).

Quick pointer: the matrix was revealed in the show when megatron combined the three legendary weapons and fired it at earth. Other than that, great review! I really love this toy and had it since I was around 4!
The matrix was also shown when Optimus revived and during his final fight with Galvatron at the end of armada.

I think the Deluxe Class is better, it has more articulations... ok, it lacked the trailer and the Super Mode but... whatever...
And it also was like... 10 dollars, when this one was 40, if not more!

I've had this same figure since I bought it new and have never had an issue with it. And while I have heard about the 'catching fire' thing, I have never heard a first hand account or know anyone who has. I think it's more urban legend personally.

Man, i really want power of the primes to give this guy the same treatment as rodimus prime instead of a g1 based optimus, to finally give this version of optimus the figure he always needed. And if anything, since they will probably give ultra magnus the whole exo armor treatment if he gets a figure, he could either be a white prime without being a prepaint, or they could make a second optimus prime retooling the magnus armor to give us a true powermaster optimus, either way i really want them to use this opportunity to create an amazing armada prime! The nostalgia of armada prime being my first optimus prime i believe has taken its hold of me!
I think what the trailer does is really cool and I really like it! But, I don't like the fact that it's a brick. However, I can give it some lenience of how old it is and Hasbro was trying out new things. So I can't hate on too much, and how it transforms and how it replicates the show is amazing! I got to give Hasbro props to that.

Hey man, great review. Just to correct what you said, he did actually uss the forearm blasters quite often and did a super blast by charging it up. He also had the Matrix in the show and was a pivotal object later in the show. Still, great review.

I actually wanted this guy once or twice before when I was little, but I just didn't get into the whole Transformers thing until Energon came around(I was still into Hot Wheels).
Nowadays, I guess you can call the Armada figures Headtargetpowermicromasters, as they just brought back a lot of concepts considered dead at first.
By the way, the Matrix of Leadership was shown in Armada a few times; one time was when the Mini-Cons used their power to bring Optimus back to life, the other time was when Optimus tossed it away so that he can have a scuffle with Galvatron on Unicron.

Bert The Stormtrooper most of the gold parts are yellow, the front grill is in silver and in none of both figures have the upper shoulders/butt of Prime is in white.
Convoy Super Mode is the Japanese name for Optimus's Super Mode

Soooooo, super late comment to this video, but whatever. In relation to prime's smokestacks, they were never used as the combined pistol, however, they were often shot. Most often, optimus would link his hands together in front.of his chest and thrust them forward, firing several... balls of energy or something. Its even in the outro animation, if I recall.
Secondly, the Matrix did make a few appearances, played a big part in the episode that he died and then was revived around episode 40ish.

OverLoad is actually Ultra Magnus. during the fight with Unicron Optimus combined with jet fire and he called ultra magnus when he combine with them 2
Donneville Prescott You have to take the English dub with a grain of salt, they made SO MANY mistakes! Several characters would be called by a name in one episode, then by another the next, then back to the first name the following episode. The blue repaint of Overload was meant to be Ultra Magnus.

Always had a soft spot for this guy. I saw some more negative reviews of this guys recently and while I understand the criticisms, I've always seen this guy as an awesome toy. Maybe I was just the right demographic. This was the series I remember most as a kid and I was always a huge fan of Power Rangers so the fact that super mode had as much articulation as a older PR Megazord was never a negative aspect in my eyes. Completely forgot about the super link with overload. Not many reviewers remember it either so I'm glad you included it. This was my first transformer toy, and even though the majority of the spare pieces are lost or broken down, it was always fun to play with as a kid. Really glad you did this review.
I like this Optimus as well. Back when Armada was airing I was only aware of the early G2 Optimus (which was basically a G1 Optimus with a black trailer). I was wishing that Optimus could combine with his trailer to form a bigger robot to be a match for the G2 tank Megatron. So when Armada Optimus showed he could combine with his trailer, you could bet I was going to like this guy.
