I’ve never heard of Star Convoy until I saw an old commercial for him an hour ago. Then RUclips suggested your review for this and I’m really glad you have one. Great review and very informative! I responded to several of your comments “Uh huh”, “yeah”, “That makes sense.” And I really like your “fan mode” and I would like to see a remake of this figure with today’s engineering. This Prime is fantastic! I was crazy lucky to find him in a second hand store in a country town in Japan a few years ago unopened for $80 NZ (about $46-$50 US). Had no idea what it was but wasn't gonna pass it up!

I think Armada Prime took a lot of inspiration from this guy, what with his pants turning into a base, looking similar in vehicle mode, both being bricks. I think that's kind of cool

Everyone would be talking about star convoy himself but look how cute that micromaster hot rod is, and this technically makes him the first legends figure as in a smaller version of a character with a mainline figure

I really like this review. When I first saw it, I was like "ugh... 23 minutes"... BUT! It didn't at any point drag! I like this figure & if I ever win the lottery, I will be getting one. Nice job pally!

The gap that Bert the Stormtrooper doesn't like, in my opinion does make sense in being there and not getting covered up because it is the gap between the truck and it's trailer to make turning easier.

Star Convoy is part of a subgroup of Autobots called Powered Masters. They consist of Dai Atlas, Sonic Bomber, Roadfire, Grandus, and Sky Garry.

That's right.. Armada, and there are also some references to Cybertron Optimus Prime, where I think Star Convoy has been inspiration for as well ^^
It's Armada Prime with the chest of Cybertron Prime, mixed in with RID 2015 Prime and the G1 color scheme!

I think this might be my second favorite design for Optimus Prime (second only to the Powermaster). I must admit, I mainly want this for the little Hot Rod Micromaster.

The looks are similar to the TFA Megatron as well
Crystal Mover Animated did a pretty good job of calling back to G1 while doing something completely new at the same time. One of favorite TF series!

Cell I think over the years he's become a little better known. I think that the repeated design hints and similarities we've been getting have to be more that mere coincidence.
Most people in America haven't heard of Star Convoy, maybe if they made more comics he will get the popularity he needs, and maybe a masterpiece figure.
Can we consider TAV-21 Optimus Prime kind of a new version of Star Convoy maybe?

Was this prime ever in any animaton american or otherwise outside of commercials? Looks great, never heard of him before.
Biofan813 Not as far as I know. TF Victory was the last of the G1 cartoons, unless you want to count "Zone" which was a one episode "one-off". Star Convoy was featured in Battlestars, which was never animated, and only ever had one chapter of manga, published in a Japanese TV Magazine.

it'l be awesome if they made a Battlestars Super Megatron, His Alt mode would be Grey and black Jet, The fusion cannon would have a silver color and the Second weapon would be a Gold Plastic Sword, his armor would be purple and the Decepticon symbol is gonna be on his Gladiator Helmet, The Robot mode is G1 design. What do you think?
If I'm not mistaken, I believe the Generations Selects TT-GS09 Super Megatron was based on Battlestars Super Megs.

Looks so awesome, I might need to get him too for my G1 Prime collection. Despite the fact he doesn't have much articulation, he's got plenty of play values. Just a few questions though: does he come with the batteries? Can he be rolled by hand without the batteries/power on? Also how much do you think he's worth?
Haze Shiro He does not come with batteries, I would not recommend you try rolling the motor by hand as you risk damaging the rubber threads and I have no idea how much he's worth now-a-days.

@@BertTheStormtrooper I got mine about $90 on eBay and it's amazing toy! Although the stickers are messed up due to time but I love play value on this figure. I was able to take out the rubber threads and he rolls just fine (I can just pop the threads back on if I want to use to motor gimmick.) Now I just need to save up for a G1 Galvatron... lol
They will redo this for the siege line, watch comodin cams video, he will be a remold of potp optimus

I thought when people where referring to the original Star Convoy they where talking about a great figure but this is nothing but a brick when the hell this toy was made cause is horrible thank god that the new version is just a homage to this one

***** It's a G1 figure, from very late towards the end of G1 actually. The series he was featured in didn't even make it into a cartoon, just a comic strip in a magazine as I understand it, but the figure itself was still a G1 release, and a very big hit overseas.

+George Pierson Well, yeah. Consider the quality of G1 toys when they first started, using Diaclone and Microman toys, to that of the toyline later on (3rd season and beyond), when they had to start making their own. All the die cast went away, and the toys became clunkier, less articulated (even than before), and in general, the entire line became almost a knockoff of itself.
Still, some of the figures managed to hold on to some charm. Star Convoy is really meant more to be a playset for Micro Master figures, than a figure in itself, so it does suffer, as most triple changers tend to do in at least one of their modes.
Still, it's one of my absolute favorite Primes in my collection.
