    After Shaq left, Penny did an interview in Slam magazine. They asked Penny how many points he thinks he would average in the next year. He said 37-40. He scored 20 a game that year. He didn't understand how much Shaq's presence helped his offensive game.
    Btw, When Shaq left the Lakers, Kobe scored 35 a game!
    There's levels to this shit.

    • @carlwallace1129
      @carlwallace1129 Год назад +3

      I never knew that that doesn't sound Penny like far as him boasting about averaging high scores considering most of his interviews he would constantly talk about elevating his teammates like Horace, Nick And D Scott after Shaq left. but them injuries humbled him quickly if he did say that.

      It was also the injuries that slowed him down though. Now, I’m not saying he would’ve scored 40 a game without Shaq, but when Shaq got hurt for a long stretch I’m 95, Penny was averaging 27 without him. I believe a healthy Penny would’ve been in that ball park.

      I always like throw Wade in that mix. Yes he's already accomplished a lot as is, but most people don't know he had his meniscus removed in college. The reason his 3pt shot wasn't consistent, and why he was hobbled so many years is because he ran all those years without a shock absorber in one of his legs. The 2 play off series he had before Bron showed up the man was shooting 7 3pa per game and converting them at a 40% clip. Would be interesting to see where he ends up with a full set of legs. One of the few players with a real chance of getting 5+ rings.

  • @PissaniMethod
    @PissaniMethod 3 года назад +18

    Like Tracy, Pierce, Vince, A.I. and a few others - Penny never established the level of discipline and work ethic that Kobe did. His attention to his body and mental strength are some of the key factors that separated him from his counterparts. Even in this game, Kobe is already thicker and more bodied that Penny ever was. That’s because he already knew how important his conditioning and strength were going to be for his overall legacy and longevity. #mambamentality

      You don’t know basketball Penny was all nba 1st team in only his 2nd year in league only Duncan and Bird ever did that. Penny blew both knees that had nothing to do with discipline and work ethic. For him to continue to play on 2 blown knees is work ethic just to be able to get back on the court. Greatness comes with health when talking longevity learn what that is before making a bogus statement like you did.

    You have to understand Penny in that situation. Kobe wasn’t the only top prospect that looked up to Penny at that time. Kobe just that 1 in a million players that turned out to be that 1 great. But in 1994-1995 Kobe was just a high schooler and Penny was a top 5 nba player at that time. Penny wasn’t even looking at college players so I know he wasn’t recognizing high school players. All these so call Kobe fans need to cut it out with they knew he was going to be a legend day one. Those first 3 years of his career it wasn’t great for him. But from 2000 on he became that legend.

    For NBA heads. Just want you to all know. Post injury Penny on the Phoenix Suns cooked Kobe in playoff match up. Well I'm not knocking Kobe but what I mean is Penny still out played and his high IQ for the game was on display. Another note is this. The first loss the 72 win Chicago Bulls got that season was to Penny without Shaq. Shaq was out start of the season hurt for a couple of months and Penny went off for like 38 and beat the mighty undefeated Bulls. That Magic squad also had 4 key injuries in the playoffs
