Kobe was the first person I ever idolized. Out of all musicians, skaters, wrestlers, and other pop icons that could've taken space on my wall, he was the first person whose poster i ever bought and proudly hung on my room. When my room got filled up with pages from The Source, Thrasher, and NBA posters... i moved his posters to the ceiling. The first and last thing id see when I was a kid. It molded me to be who I am today. Thank you for posting this because 1998 was the year this all happened. I was a young kid finding his way and his passion in life and Kobe's ethos and who he was at the time was very relatable to kids then. He was like my big brother I never had. The GOAT.

Lakers could’ve won in the late 90’s if not for the identity crisis on the team. You can sense the resistance and resentment from the veterans that Kobe was so good at only 19. Can win it all when there’s friction on the team.

To be honest, yeah kinda. I hate the current Lakers. Ever since Kobe retired and especially after Brandon Ingram got traded I wasn’t a fan anymore. Still no disrespect to Bron tho. He‘s certainly one of the Goats of this sport.

Me too. I live in a small community and there’s not too many sport facilities so I decided I am going to try to do something about it there’s a lot of kids out here that love basketball and they’re just learning about Kobe. And they’re like wow it’s pretty cool to see

He didn’t even average 20 a game until he’d been in the league for 4 years. Jordan averaged over 28 a game his ROOKIE year. Came in and took OVER. Kobe’s rookie year he averaged 7…. 7. Lmfao. Do NOT compare them.
Kobe also came in younger. But anyway, just because Jordan is better doesn't mean people can't celebrate Kobe's greatness
@@devvv4616 doesn’t matter if he “came in younger” when they were the same age, when he was 21, he STILL didn’t average over 20 a game, just under 20: 19.9, so yeah pretty much 20, but still, it took him 4 years to actually break 20+ a game. He averaged 22.5 their first title year when they cheated the Pacers out in 2000.

The Lakers had Jones at the 2 and even though Kobe was much better than Jones as an rookie according to Nick, West, and etc his coach was not letting him play. IF Kobe came in starting at 17 he wouldn't have averaged 28 like MJ lol but with 20 shots, he'd average 20+. MJ athleticism coming in was ahead of anyone in the 80s except for Dr. J and peak Wilkins? Kobe in the 80s with playing time could replicate rookie MJ stats tbh. Kobe came in more skilled and polished but MJ benefitted from playing 3 years in college under one of the greatest college coaches and in an system. West said Kobe is the most skilled 17 year old he's ever seen. Even when Kobe worked out for the Celtics, they all said his skills were COMPLETE, NO WEAKNESSES

You're only looking at stats... you can still be effective without it showing on the statsheet. Besides, Kobe came off the bench his first 2 years in the league, and he barely got any playing time. You are foolish to make fun of him averaging 7 points a game, when in that season he only played 15 minutes a game... that isn't enough time to do anything. Jordan on the other hand, got almost 40 minutes a game his first season and started every game. Jordan attempted nearly 20 shots a game his rookie season... where as kobe only averaged just under 6 a game his first year. That is not comparable. I guarantee you if kobe had the opportunity that Jordan had in his rookie season, he would have scored a lot more.
