To be honest, Faye had every right to be furious against someone who basically destroyed her entire race. Her anger is justified by the fact that she’s literally fighting someone who has slain her entire kind while the person who’s done it just sits there, get drunk while reveling in enjoyment for doing such a heinous act.

Faye helped Kratos over come his anger in ways he could not of believed before she came into his life. It's likely hard for him to believe she was capable of such herself but i think Kratos over time realizes the reason she could help him with his anger, was that she once grappled with such anger herself.

It was nice to know the story of Faye's battle with Thor. It's understandable why she fought him enraged. Thor did kill most of her people, which were technically Thor's people too since he's also half giant. It's impressive that both Thor and Faye survived, especially Thor who was drunk. It is especially impressive that Faye learned from the devastation she helped caused to better herself and eventually Kratos into better people. The fact that Faye had such rage against Thor really does show that she had more in common with Kratos than at first glance. She however chose to be better, and ultimately helped her husband and son to be better too.

One of the small details I love about this quest line is the fact that the ghost are either flashing with electricity (Mjolnir) or emitting frost particles (Leviathan axe). It gives you the impression of the fact that Faye, who in her (justified) rage is just as a part of the destruction of this valley as Thor, who is continuously depicted as a destroyer. She ironically became the thing that she hated Thor for, to the people of the Crater. Small details like that really makes good stories even better.

I love that they included this mini backstory for Faye. It shows that while she may appear as some kind of moral Angel, she's had similar issues and mistakes that Kratos had. With her rage resulting in the destruction of a whole civilization and even ending lives. She only ended up being as emotionally intelligent as she was because of what she learned from her own mistakes. No wonder her and Kratos were perfect for each other.

    Couple things:
    1. I love that we finally got to see who Faye was and what she looked liked. Atreus definitely picked a lot up from her. It’s nice to have this. We hear a lot about her but we finally get to see!
    2. Where’s Atreus? Who is watching him while they’re out hunting? Has he been born yet in these dreams/flashbacks? He was there as an infant in one of these sequences.
    3. I kind of wish we saw the other side of Faye. Not the fair, soft spoken women with a bit of a snark or sass to her(another thing Atreus picked up). Where’s the fierce and driven warrior that she was? We don’t get to see that side. Granted it’s likely she, like Kratos, was retired from that life by the time she meant him, but still. In the last game and this one we hear that she had other sides. She was strong. She drank(never with Kratos). Even had a temper! SHE FOUGHT THOR!!! Man I want to see that. I know why we don’t. Kratos never saw this so we don’t get to. Still tho. Hearing the story was cool.
    4. I kinda like how both Kratos and Mimir discovers some hidden truths about their loved ones. I don’t think there’s dialogue that ties it in but still I like that.
    5. How’d she die? Was she sick? She seemed fine chin the flashbacks even when preparing for her inevitable death. Was she just holding back the pain or sickness? Was it her fight with Thor? That seems unlikely to me. That was a while ago, no? Before Atreus. Unless it was an injury so bad but unseen and took its time to catch up with her? We saw this woman lifting trees. What made her so ill? Maybe I missed something.

  • @hansalanson3497
    @hansalanson3497 Год назад +36

Here's my bit of theory about Thor: part of the reason Thor is so gloomy and adamant about not being able to change is because, like those of the Jotnar, he too received prophetic visions, about his unbending servitude to Odin, about his massacre of the Giants and all that. But because he was raised in a culture that shun Jotnar qualities, he did not know how to face, let alone deal with these visions, thus he quietly kept them to himself and saw them become true one by one; thus enforcing the assumption that they're inevitable; even Jotnars who live among other giants suffer this defeatist mindset (Angroboda) the thing is, he's COMPLETELY alone in the dark.
This is why he's so desensitized about nearly everything, and often seeks a way to escape thoughts, because when thoughts form, those prophecies haunt him and rid him of any sense of purpose he had left.
I believe part of the prophecy he saw was him getting killed by Kratos, thus why the Spartan got him so intrigued and was pivotal to his character development (tough short-lived). Thor was not pissed that he was losing against Kratos, he wanted to be done with it, but when Kratos refused to finish the fight and kill him when he had the chance, it was not just a person showing that they can be better; it was proof that the inevitable, never were.

Theory: Freya believes she meet Faye as a warrior during the Vanir battles with Aesir in Vanaheim but she didn't have the Axe at the time. I think Faye, either not obtaining the Axe from the Huldra Brother yet or waiting for the right time to reveal it, fought to get close to Thor. She knew Thor was her brother and wanted to stop him from being Odin's pawn. She felt that without Odin's influence Thor would be an ally to the Giants and Vanir. She caught up with in the Mead Hall and tried to convince him to leave Odin and do what his mother Fjorgyn would have wanted by revealing to him that she is his sister. But Thor was drunk and in his belligerence refused to listen to reason. This infuriated Faye and she decided to attack him using the Axe that she had hoped to use along side her brother. They fought a ferocious battle leaving behind many casualties. This saddened Faye which lead her down a path of repentance that eventually caused her to meet Kratos. I think her death is related to the mysterious death of her mother Fjorgyn too. Perhaps their was a curse or illness that Fjorgyn and Faye share. I got more but I'll stop now lol

someone pointed out in a theory video that is possible that Faye's mother and Thor's mother is the same, that would make Atreus and Thrud cousins, which is kinda cool... and to be fair both Faye and Thor have some similarities, giant blood, red head, blue eyes, really powerful individuals, both have legendary weapons, etc... kinda tragic, if you ask me.

I think that the reason why the clash between Thor and faye was bigger than with Thor and Kratos.
Kratos was struggleling to hold back his rage and Thor was only there for a blood depth and was not allowed to kill Kratos so both of them was holding back, so it Didn't really have such a big explosion. But i think that the reason why Faye's and Thors clash was bigger was because Faye was really furious so she gave everything she got, while Thor was drunk.

There is an obscure being in the Norse myth called "Utgarda Loki", which roughly means "Loki from beyond the wall" or something. This thing tricked Loki and Thor into doing impossible tasks; Thor was made to drink from a cup that was connected into the ocean and thus never ran out. After Loki, Thor and one other Asgardian I forgot realized they got played, this thing that's supposed to be a Jotnar just disappeared forever.

Part of me wonders what would've happened if Faye never abandoned her rage-fueled days, and instead maintained that level of anger even after meeting Kratos. What would they have done by then? Try and topple Asgard as this unstoppable power couple? Or maybe Kratos, who already saw the tragedy that comes with the destruction of deities, would instead be the one to try and calm Faye, to which if it would work is up for debate. Thanks for making this video and sharing more about Kratos's late wife. Keep up the great work!!!

She was OP enough already. Altered the future and defied her race, literally changing the outcome of Ragnorak, birthing Loki, wedding Kratos of Sparta, magic strong enough to keep them hidden in Midgard, a rebellion with the dwarves... and she's MORTAL.

To me that kind of knocked down the fear I had for Thor. Build her character up while tearing him down. In the previous game he was told to be neigh invincible. Kratos equivalent in the Norse pantheon. It made sense how Kratos was able to beat him, man killed god for a living practically, but my god how powerful is Faye if she beat his ass too? One of the reasons I felt Thor was so dangerous was because prior to Kratos no one could stop him except Odin.

To me she coulf have died of a sickness which would explain the funeral setup she did and always talking to kratos aa if she had no time left. Would also explain why she was so keen on kratos raising atreus. Or 2, she died in battle like most honorable warriors do. This story as well as her fight with kratos and the rebellion army proves she has a big fighting spirit compared ro the rest of the giants. Maybe one day that fighting spirit is what caused her demise.
