I need to strengthen the galley curves by using fibeglass and resin. First I need to make sure that it doesn’t bleed or stain.
Marlon also needs my help as he’s broken down and needs towing or pulling to the boat yard at Hemel. All hands on deck

When I use fibreglass I do 10mg of resin and I pea sized blob of hardener. So 20mg & 2 pea size blobs of hardener etc etc. Works a treat James
Buy yourself a nice set of router bits - It will not be waste of money because you will need them on your build . In that nice , comprehensive set , you will find the perfect bit for the job - getting a nice curve in a bit of timber . It is wider at the bottom and narrow at the top .
So glad the heater works so well. And it is stunning. The galley is going to look great. That was nice of you and Rob to help Marlon, hope he boat doesn’t need a lot of work done on it. Keep up the good work James!

Fibreglass all looks good - I used to do a lot of GRP many years ago.
Beware acetone - I love it, it's the DBs for cleaning up resin and a great solvent for many other things, But...
It evaporates easily and the vapour is Very inflammable, not only that but it's heavier than air so tends to creep along the floor.
All in all a bit of a fire/explosion risk, so maybe store and use it outside the boat, especially with the new stove lit!
Mixed up resin and hardener left in a container can also catch fire! It doesn't take a lot of it to do so either so be aware of that.
You don't really need a roller for the job you're doing, but I made one 30 years ago that I still have - alternating 1" and 1/2" 1/4" hole washers on a suitably bent junior hacksaw frame - works a treat and proved easy to clean (with fire, if I let the resin harden on it!)
I think the heater was an excellent idea. Also I think that the cabinets are going to be very cool. Good job brother.
Firstly I’m so happy you guys helped Marlon out. But when working with that fiberglass and glue you should have had a mask on! Hopefully it wasn’t enough to cause you to have lung problems later on. It’s nasty!
In a lighter note, the wood looks fabulous on your walls and the fact you can have heat and boil water in a godsend!!!! I’m so happy for you!!!

Wet it, one full piece, and your done. Less catalyst slows down the hardening process. Looking good!
Should of thinned down the resin a bit though to allow it to grab the wood more . I think your fibreglass will come away from the ply ......

Why didn't you use one piece of fibreglass over the whole curve. You would of had the job done by now.
Nice solution for the weak curves - they will take the odd accidental whack now and will prevent any damp getting into those thinner curves . Once you have the worktop installed that will give it more rigidity . Love you Portholes too , they will look fantastic when installed . All the best on your endeavours .
You were very close to achieving your curve with the router , you just needed the full set of pieces and you would have sussed it yourself .....
Imagine a piece of dried out timber like a sponge . It has billions of little cells in it that once contained water . It wants that water back and it will get it back unless you cunningly fill those cells with someting else . Thin down things first and apply , that allows those cells to soak it up . Then apply your resin and fibreglass .
Apply a thinned out coat of resin , allow it to dry , it will not soak through it will not . Then do the business , it will stick and not seperate . Treat all timber lke this and it will last . Do not do ' that'll do ' approach .
hope you remember to put your stiffener spacer blocks back before it set's
Maybe do the ceiling next before you put more walls in far less cutting . Much easier all round same with the flooring then all you need to do is build on top of it

Amazing looks good the stove, it's allways a home once you got a stove :) i wonder how much fuel it fose through and would you ever use number 6 ECT how much does the hot setting use? Curious. Not that you may never need it.
Fibreglass working as hoped - result!
I was wondering how you were going to strengthen those bends. Knowing children, I could see them charging down the walkway and crashing into those curves. With resulting dents, breaks. Over kill with a couple layers of that fibre glass probably wouldn't go amiss. Not that I know anything about the stuff. Glad you can warm the boat

Bless Marlon, he found a real beauty of a boat, I hope it’s not an expensive repair and he can get back up with you boys soon Hope the boat is a much warmer place to carry on working away. It’s really coming together James 👌🏻
Now let dry sand it smooth and apply another layer of fiberglass and it will be strong.

Be careful when using fibreglass mate the glas fibres can attach to your lungs ..
Don't add to much catalyst as it could cause a fire when mixed with the resin.. as I found out many years ago .
The whole boat was covered with black Smuts.. .a trick to applying fibreglass is to use a fin roller to finish the job ..it pushes all the air out from under the glass mating..
Anyway I am sure you know this already ..I can't wait until you you show us the finished boat as you have put your heart and soul into making a boat that will be hard to beat

Hi its good to see the boat coming along nicely. The technique for applying resin and matting with a brush. Plenty resin, place the mat on top. Plenty of resin on top. To remove the air pockets. Push the brush into the matting. Using a up and down motion. Draw the air pocket to the side. Use must keep the brush bristles compressed against the matting. Lotus car headlamps were made using this technique. I know I made a few lol. Great job . Its beginning to look much better.))

James, take a look at "Ship Happens" here on U tube episode 127 Gemma does a whole video on resin bonding, you may find it interesting, they're rebuilding a 2nd wold war wooden launch..
Re your stove... Make sure that your diesel tank is full. If they have installed the diesel feed for the heater correctly, it should run out of fuel first, but leave enough in the tank for you to run the engine and move the boat.
Don’t stir it sitting in your hand it warms it faster then goes off faster. One full piece from bottom to the top is all you need.

To much hardner will make it gets hot and start smoking. Use in well ventilated area away from open flames
You are once again doing it the hard way. Cut one piece to fit the entire space uses a lot less resin the way.
In short he doesn’t have a clue and is making a bodge up, just like he did with his previous boat
James, you’ve really missed a chance here. These two “ experts” obviously would of jumped at the chance to come and build you a handmade bespoke kitchen if only you’d said.
