That’s because your relationship is very stable and even I can see how much you are both so in love such is your lives 👍
wish I could live in a narrowboat here in the states...love all the renovations
Were with you now . All the best .
You should be proud of yourselves as you have done wonders with your boat. Well done.
We are all stronger than we know our true self to be as we are truly exorodinary beings who have not been metaly trained properly to live out an exponential life that we could have of we could reboot ower state of being.love the work you done together.❤
Great video, Captain! I am the Captain of a large Cape Size (LOA 298 mtrs) vessel, I would love to sail on such a Nice Lady!
This been my dream forever omg CONGRATS.... and never be shy to do anything just do it u would of lost out on the greatest thing you've ever done.... u can do anything as long as you just do it.... living a dream im so jealous!!!
Wise words there mate!
Much work, but very very beautiful 👍👍👍🍀🍀🍀
Ausome way to get to know your soul mate ...i think every one should do that ❤
Really enjoyed your journey you come across a wholesome couple best of luck for the rest of the renovation if it's anything like the first part it will come out amazing 🤞👍
I'm just joining you guys in my research to hopefully start my boat renovation in the summer 2024 back home in Prince Edward Island, Canada. I look forward to following along and learning from you guys. Thanks for sharing and much love from a Canadian currently living in Uruguay, South American. ❤
We really enjoyed your 1 year anniversary on the boat. When we were dating and thought it was serious, we took a 2 week trip to a mostly deserted island. Boats and deserted islands can’t be beat for learning about a person. Your boat is a masterpiece in the making!
Soooo true, and I love that you guys did that! How cool!
You too are a beautiful couple good luck whatever good luck whatever you achieve . You work very hard to prove you do I think you're a great couple great couple and good rich and good regards to both of your parents. Ron
Thanks Ronald! :)
gosh - I had forgotten how much you had to get done in returning the boat to a blank slate...
Wow you have achieved so much. Well done both xx
Yeah we had forgotten too haha thanks for watching!
Very impressive effort!
Nice project, nice presentation, nice thoughts

My first visit , looking good , well done so I’ve subscribed, Graham
Welcome aboard!
nice to see two young people building a home together reminds me of my late wife and myself starting off
on our married life together good luck to you both 😊😊😊
That’s so sweet, Michael 😊 I’m really sorry for your loss x
Good stuff. Very impressive and entertaining
Thank you for your comments on overcoming anxiety and fear. I shared them with someone very dear to me who struggles with anxiety.
Thank you for sharing! I'm glad you found those comment helpful :)
So nice to see a woman who is prepared to build a home with her partner instead of just expecting one to be provided...you build a life together, you find out about each other and you help each other for a common goal....and at the end have a home to enjoy thats way better than a house..that is permanently at one anchored spot and cannot move..
Just found your channel this morning !
Hi Peter glad to have you aboard 💪🏽. Yup Nesha is amazing if I do day so myself ha. Thanks for saying much appreciated. It's a long journey due to us both working full time and in a long distance relationship but once it's done it's gonna look grand
A Great Year…and a Great job…Well Done !!
Thanks for being here with us!!
channels like your's are what is inspiring me to buy my own narrowboat. even though i need to save up for one this is my dream when all my kids have grown up.
We hope you'll be able to make that dream a reality one day! :D Maybe we'll see you on the canals in the future
I love these projects. It's good to see you strip it down to bare bones to start anew. Can't wait to see the journey of you and Mike and the rebuild.
Thanks Craig! Glad you’re enjoying our project 😄 good to have you here
Well done to you both. What a journey but you have learned so much. Soon you will be able to sit back and say "we did this, we built this" ❤
Yes we will! 💛
The colour of the boat and those windows look amazing 😊
We love the windows! Very pleased with them 😊
Best vlog I've seen this year. I'm on this journey with you & I don't even own a boat. Your both stars. Truly inspirational
Wow thank you so much 🥰🥲
❤️ How exciting, 😉 all that time & hard work, well worth it.
Well done guys,,, u both took on a massive overhaul!! Mike is very knowledgeable,,,,, good on you both
💪👍
Yes he is!
Thanks Rich much appreciated ... Hahaha i wouldn't go that far 😅
Well done you two. You are so right, if you are still together after all this hard work and the ups and downs you will have a life time together. Yes there will be more ups and downs along the way. This from someone that's been married to the same man for 52 years, would I change him, yes sometimes. Lol. Good luck to you both, can't wait for the next installment. Cheers Milly.
52 years, wow! And I love your honesty haha. Thanks for being a part of our little community!
What an amazing job you’ve made of the restoration. Hats off to the both of you 🤩
Absolutely fantastic guys 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks so much!
Been great viewing all year thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching and being with us for a year, Robin! X
Love the colour. Doing a great job. I’d say it’s a great team building task. Best wishes
It certainly is!
Very inspiring - Thank you!
A Beautiful Vlog about the continuing renovation of your narrowboat and a small window in to your loving, supportive relationship. When you have finished the renovation you will both know, without a doubt, that you can achieve anything together with love, understanding and a mutual respect. Stay safe guys.
Very true 🥰
Great choice of colours heritage colours are timeless well done and giving the old boat a new lease of life she'll thank you for it cheers n beers Marty Australia ❤
Thanks 👍😄
Great video.. heart-warming.. think I commented before that the hardest thing is just keeping going and not giving up on long-term projects.. massive pat on the back from this self build narrowboater. X
Thank you! Yes that’s definitely the hardest part xx
Very informative blog!
Looking good now, can't wait to see it finished with all your together touches. Happy days you will never forget and end up with something beautiful and as you wanted it, a real cosy home. Nothing better than a picnic and drinks on the bank of the river looking at what you two have achieved. Even better still a warm cubbly winter's night in surrounded by your things, giggling at the mistakes made and cougared together.
Can't wait! 🥰
This is brilliant shiny example of a boat vlog. Very well narrated with all the right detail in the right places. Thankyou so much for sharing this and I wish you both all the best with your mission. :)
Thank you so much! 😊
wel done
Good to see how far you've come. ❤
Thanks for being here for the ride, Sheila!
A fantastic project you should both be proud of. It should be a great home for you after all the hard work !
We hope so!
@@DriftwoodFolk have watched your channel from the early days of the survey and collecting it. Look forward to watching you fit out the inside
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing the journey with us, it’s so cool having people in this little community that have watched the boat transformation from the very beginning. Means a lot to us that you take the time to watch our vids :)
Another ace video guys xx
Good job.
No matter what you're working on, renovations are always tough. And renovations where you are learning on the job are tougher still.
You folks have done and are still doing a lovely job. The sense of accomplishment you'll get when the work is 'finished' (renos are notorious for never ending) will be so satisfying. Being able to answer the admiring questioner with "I did that" is worth so much.
What an enjoyable series this has been and is still. Congratulations to you both Neesha and Mike, I'd wish you luck but I don't think you need it.
Amen to that, I think renovating anything would be tough. But yes, the sense of accomplishment when it’s done is going to be so great!
Love watching this ! I did it all on my old trawler I lived on. Just a hint on the mastic / caulking around windows etc ..run the bead & then get some spit on your finger to smooth it - gross I know yet it works perfectly. A spray bottle with soapy water can do it also but I’ve been a sparkie for 40 yrs & I’ve not always got soapy water ..always got some spit
Can't wait to see the fit out from here on. Good work! Keep the faith!
Well done keep going we’re all with you
I think you two are amazing taking on such a project . Your voice is well suited to communicatiin this journey , very professional and easy to listen to . I look forward to the next part!
Thank you!
A fantastic vlog. You've done a amazing job of the boat. It might seem your not getting anywhere at times but looking back like this really shows how much as been done
Thanks for being on the journey with us Paul!
great video
Loved the video! When doing a restoration from scratch, at least you know what you have when you're finished. It's looking good.
Very nice! Painting looked like it turned out really well, Keep up the good work!
Thanks! It's just undercoat, still gotta topcoat it. But the undercoat turned out well!
Great job!!
I have watched you from the start and you have done a great job. it is a long journey but you have stayed the course and have made an old looking boat into a fine place for the both of you to live on your skills have grown along with your confidence. Looking forward to see the finished product, I hope you will take everyone along on the rest of your journey, stay well and take care Ed 40 S of Vegas XXXXX
Thanks for being here from the start Ed! X
So very well don, you are both amazing! 👌
Keep up the good work 👏
looking good, you have finished alot so far. Much luck...........
Thanks Sharon! Xx
Goodness me, this is so impressive watching you work together and seeing what you have achieved, fantastic practical and problem solving skills and clearly great depth in your relationship and philosophy, well done I look forward to observing your journey.
Thank you very much! 🥰
What an amazing job you are doing, can't wait to see more!
Well done the two of you , you should be so proud of what you have achieved. Looking forward to seeing the amazing narrowboat it's sure to become.
Thanks so much!
What a beautiful boat You all have come a long way We’ll done happy and blessed journeys
Now THAT'S a renovation! Oh, and in mentioning how long the rustproofing took, I can only relate what most people say about any house renovations (especially on older homes) - that you can expect the time (and money) required will be higher by a factor of 3 to 5 of what you expect! In other words, expect it to take 10 hours? It'll take 30 to 50 hours for real...hey, it is what it is and at least when it's done, you can stand back and admire your work and say, "I did that!"
100% agree! However long you expect it to take, it'll take 3-5 times longer lol When it's done though it's worth it
What a great job you both done. Looks really good, well done. Must have been a labour of love 😊😊😊
Good job! It was great to see how far you’ve come on this adventure.
Thank you so much!
Ya should be proud of yaselfs it,s a darn fine quality build and at end of the day what else would ya be doing. Yes ya could have done that and this but as you said hindsight is a great thing. Keep chugging along you will get there. Carry On.
Hi Nesha & Mike, loved this vlog. Seeing all what you both have achieved in the past year is amazing. Looking forward to watching the boat turn into the beautiful home, I know it will be 💕
Watched your series from the beginning. Inspirational effort you have both put into this project.
Thanks for being here from the very beginning! X
Wow a year already 😃🥰💕congratulations to you both, it’s been a fabulous journey so far. Here’s to the next stage of your boat build xx🥂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for being along for the ride, we always appreciate your comments Jeannie 🥰💕
Fantastic to see all the build come together 😊you both work very hard 😊great video 😊thank you
Brilliant vlog guys, it really shows how much hard work and just how far you've come! Whilst it might have been easier to buy a new shell, and start from there... This journey will make you appreciate what a beautiful home you've literally built from scratch! Looking forward to the next chapter, keep going and you'll soon be over the finish line.
Thanks Mikey! 😊
Wow fantastic work you both did really interesting to see what you both had to do , I know it was very hard work but your so enthusiastic both of you, and confident to, I know in time you will get it to look the way you want it to and that’s so much worth it 👍❤❤❤
❤❤❤
You've been on such an incredible journey and its amazing how far you've come. Its so inspiring to see the progress you've made with no experience - taking on a project boat is not for the faint hearted but you're absolutely smashing it. I don't know how you find the time or the will! As always such a well made watchable video
Thanks for such a thoughtful comment, Laura! 🥰
Missed the "e" on done! 😂
im blown away by your dedication to living your own authentic life ... im seriously tempted still at the age of 61 to make this step. love how you combine your own personal growth with this journey. major congrats. are you based in staffs? i used to live there and find it my natural home and intend to move back.
I'm an new subscriber, and it looks like you are experts ï doing things right the first time. I believe you'll have a long happy future!
Welcome aboard ha . Haha i wouldnt go that far but we appreciate you saying. We hope so too 💪🏽💪🏽
Some job ya took on, there. Just one gripe. Forgetting the Ginger Nuts is an absolute outrage !!
It is!! 😂
Im glad someone understands 😂😂
Great to see the progress you have both made, congrats to you both. May be worth checking the exhaust flow on the diesel heater. I believe it should be running downwards from the heater as a by product would be water, over time it may cause issues as water collects in the exhaust and restricting the flow which will stop the burn chamber.
Thanks for that much appreciated. Yes we will be adding a drain on the exhaust (forgotten the name) as we can't run it down hill due to the water level ha
@@mike-driftwoodfolk2651 They are great pieces of kit, should save you a small fortune. The restoration is looking great, already looking forwards to the next update.
at least by doing what you did you got to know all about you boat!
I'm inspired ! You really should have used Oleitodh Butyl Tape to seal the windows. Maybe next time ..Other than that, great job !
Thanks for the tip!
Good effort from both of you
Thanks Charlie!
When I came across you both last year, I am so amazed that the both of you are so amazing. I am sure this has been a tough journey, but it has made you both so strong. Thank you for this wonderful video. I can't wait to see the rest all come together. You both are so inspiring and beautiful. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much, Kimberly! So sweet of you to say 💛
👍
I’m sure the sign said Sheffield, the date said 1989. I’m looking at buying a barge. I’m gutted you covered the Sheffield and 1989 up but only for selfish reasons haha. This must be a sign
This is the second narrowboat restoration I have watched. Do you not have sandblasting in the UK?
Welcome aboard ha. We do yes but it is expensive and time consuming as it would have to be out the water or in a wet dock which would be more money to hire so we went with the much cheaper option ... Still looks live we've just done it too which is great. May of cost us in time but I'd do it all over again if it means saving money ha
Hi my name is sylvia...I was watching your RUclips video. Definitely taking your advise going for a widebeam sailaway then I have some friends that do the work you have me so much inspiration can't wait to get my boat hopefully end of the year or early next year. Any questions I have you don't mind me Instagram if I need to advise thanks in advance
I am curious what program you have used doing Electrical Plan, I like the simplicity.😊
It’s called Canva! It’s free 😊
There has been a few people who have taken on the challenge of rebuilding a Narrowboat. With a Shell new or used you may or may not see any faults in the basic construction. A rebuild like what you are involved in you will see up close and personal every square inch (cm) of the inside of you boat and eventually you will also see every square inch (cm) of the outside as well. All mistakes going forward will only be yours. There are many folks the Narrowboat community who will offer free advice (you get what you pay for) and there are good and not so good builders/restoration experts. There are many who are on the internet community of Narrowboats who can point you in the right direction when you get stuck. Always remember, you are doing it together, make all the designs together, plan together in short if you take the time and patience to learn the perseverance it take to successfully compete a project of this scope together, "you can master any thing together!" cheers
Agreed! And yes, the community is definitely so helpful. We'll know this boat inside and out when it's eventually done, which feels so good!
My goodness what an adventure and just restoring the boat itself must be. Unless I missed something on the way here, how did you haul away all the debris?
Many many many trips in the van to the recycling centre! Kept whatever could be reused in a storage unit x
@@DriftwoodFolk
I wonder if it would not have been easier to rent a standard utility trailer that you hook up on your hitch and tow it all out in far less trips. Not that it matters now.... the job is done..🥰
Would have probably been better off having the bilge area sand blasted, then an etch primer then a couple of coats of two part epoxy.
Would have loved to of done that but at the time we couldn't afford it. Recently checked it all and still looks like we've just done it so all good. Appreciate your comment tho 💪🏽
The first thing I would of done was have the boats bottom inspected and recoated all that hard work could be setting on the bottom of the canal!
We did it’s just not featured in this video
Thanks for your comment. As Nesha said its not in this video but it is on our channel. It was actually the first thing we did before committing to buying it. Although it will soon be time to do it again I'm sure haha.
Xx
What made yall choose brick as part of the flooring? I figured that would just put a massive amount of unnecessary weight and might cause the engine to struggle in current over 4 knots
It's ballast, it's for stopping boats from excessively tipping or heeling. We're installing hatches in the floor so that we can remove/add ballast as needed
@@DriftwoodFolk ahh ok that makes perfect sense now. Sorry if my question was dumb i dont know jack about boats
@@lordhelmet9066dw as we've learnt the only question that is dumb is the one you don't ask haha. We used to have heavy curb stones & slabs but opted for driveway blocks so we can trim the weight easier once everything is installed. Through the years people have used all sorts for ballast from heavy chains and cast iron bricks to curb stones.
