    Your trial ones came out really good. Well done. If you wanted more black maybe instead of tipping the white and golds on use the other end of the paint brush or a pencil even to drip it on in thinner lines then use the hair dryer again as you did. Also you spoke about depth and layers, you can also do one layer with half the resin that you used allow to dry completely as you did in today's video and then do the whole process again and create different patterns again. This would create a real layer effect and you will see all the patterns created at different depths. 😊

    You could select some pictures of black marble or granite that you like, and maybe have them open in front of you for reference? I know I would probs do that, as my mind would go completely blank otherwise, lol. The marble looks a bit easier than the granite. But anyway, you are likely to get some interesting effects whatever you do - simply due to the material. Really like the copper and gold pigments.

    • @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt
      @TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt  21 день назад

      Your last sentence is 100% the ethos to have. I’m not going to try to replicate granite or cosmic - I’m just going to make something which will just look like resin as resin is the only way to make it. It’ll probably look more cosmic than anything else

    If too much colour is added it will end looking like a mess.

    have you thought about asking the woman painter you had do the work on Sloe Patrol, to do the markings in the resin to make them look more stone like. Definitely cosmic looking , maybe look at some Hubble telescope images of the galaxy before doing more?

    I think you should be brave and persevere with the colour mixing as your test pieces were a success. Personally, I preferred the smaller test as it successfully portrayed an organic looking blend. Why not use a picture of granite as a visual guide for your next pour? I think after watching your video the hairdryer and pencils blended the colours more naturally, more so than the brush did which was too efficiently uniform and looked a bit heavy handed. Do smaller test pieces and auction those off please, folk would then almost own a little bit or your boat 😁 That’s my two penneths worth!
