- This ceiling is making all the difference. Quite easy to work with and put up but the way it looks is amazing. Rob helped me loads getting this up and thanks to Teresa for giving me some cash for the PVC and to Paul for buying a coffee or three.

When you look in a dictionary for the definition of "friend", you see a picture of Rob. I cannot even count on my hands how many times Rob has come to James' need for a helping hand.
Yes he’s a really genuine guy . Well done Rob . Where’s your seraphina episodes ?
Everyone needs a Rob in their life. Good on ya Rob, a true mate.
I like this new ceiling. Good choice, well made. And shout out to Rob, wish I had a friend like him.
Wish I was closer James I would of helped you with your ceiling as long as there was an endless supply of tea. Good old Rob 😃
Wow! That ceiling makes the boat look so much bigger! Great job done!
The old girl is itching for the trim to turn into a Swan!!🦢
Thanks for the help Rob the Deck head is really looking great, so pleased you decided to change to the MDF.
Get some of that door trim with the brush for your sliding door gaps. The kind you get on the bottom of doors a bit like the stuff you have inside letterboxes? The brushes will close the gap when doors open and move out way when doors closed - I hope that makes sense mate 👍
My thoughts precisely. I have a similar draught excluder on my front door, and the bristles are about an inch long. Longer ones are available.
Message for Rob , your amazing mate seriously. What a good friend you have in Rob.
The ceiling looks soooooo much better than the pvc. You made a good move to change the pvc to this tongue and groove stuff !!
The music was nice too James ! Looking forward to seeing more videos and more progression ! X
Rob has a very good eye for detail, always a pleasure to see you two collaborating.
Well done James the ceiling is looking brilliant. You are very lucky to have Rob as a friend 😊😊😊
Looking good, you obviously know how lucky you are to have a friend like Rob👌
That’s a beautiful ceiling. All the lines are straight. And Rob is a definite gem to have as a friend.
Rob to the rescue... Rob on the camera. Jack of all tradrs... true pal. Cheers Rob.🎉
I thought the PVC was looked good (although perhaps somewhat flawed - I didn't realise) , but I love the MDF. Looks great!
Brilliant, worth the change of material. Take care.
Hi ya Rob! Sorry I didn't get a chance to say good bye, but I hope to see everyone soon enough. Thanks for showing me your beautiful boat, and giving James a hand. I know now the spirit of the canal will endure because of friendships like ours.
James, keep up the good work mate! Your well on your way to a beautiful boat as well.
OCD is your middle name, James. I followed Sloe Patrol, and your attention to detail has made it beautiful. nBw my husband and I are both following this boat. I really like the new ceiling choice. I admire your efforts to make a comfy place for your children.
He's selling both for a widebeam
@@Narrowboat.and.offgrid.living But the EFFORT has to take place to make them sellable if that is what James's end plan is. The children are growing and James will have planned what is best for him and his family.
Great ceiling best choice , I think that painting the ceiling with satin paint not gloss it looks classier and won’t be too glare even the water reflects on it . Also great choice of music very fitting. And better than that bird . It’s all coming along nicely .
That, is so much better. Nice.
On a roll, James, and looking real good.
beautiful tranquil scenes James , thank you for sharing those . looked so calm ,
I was concerned when I saw you struggling with the roof but how great that Rob came to the rescue. You’re very lucky with your friends around you; I can still remember dear Marlon lying on his back in the cold, underneath your boat dealing with the hull.
You could make some blocks that you could temporarily screw to the ceiling with a toggle on. You could have 2 on 1 side closed to tuck the board up behind and 2 open on the other side, then lift the board up flat to the ceiling and close the other 2 toggles. Your board will then be held up to the roof while you position it and fix it. Then remove the toggles and use them for the next board.
Watching your progress with awe from sunny Corfu. Keep it up Skipper and see you soon.
X
That’s a fine bit of work. It looks absolutely great. Those fine folks took the old sheets off your hands. No disposal required. Happy Days as someone I know is wont to say. 😉
You might want to mull over the level of sheen which you end up applying to that MDF. Me thinks that a low sheen (Eggshell) would be the sweet spot but that of course is a personal choice.
Have a good week Captain James.
Cheers 🥂

It's starting to come together, James. Looking good. 👍
Glad I could be of help, just a shame I can't do more.
All the best, mate.
@@alanrichardson1672 Hence why he has sealed and painted it on both sides, and the cut edges.
You're just never happy, are you, Alan.
I suggest you take a trip to Berko, so you can share your encyclopaedic boat building knowledge with him first hand. I'm sure he'd appreciate the help.
Or not.
Ceiling looking really good James
Run a piece of string from one end to the other to get your tongue and groove perfectly lined up
It's looking absolutely super, James.
James, with using the period table elements for cerium, why not do the periodic table as the logo for the artwork for your new home 🤓 Bless Rob for helping you with the ceiling, it will look fantastic and it really lightens and opens up the space 🤗
James, the ceiling soooo nice. The grooves in the ceiling does make it look longer. Even if you are going to paint over the grooves it will give it detail that you will still be able to see. I’m glad you were able to afford the change. You will be much happier in the end since this will be your home for a very long time.
Has your job ended James? Your hair etc is back to 'relaxed and casual' and you seem to have had a long run on the boat again? The boat is looking great by the way; love the change of ceiling and the way your friends are rallying round to help ❤. Time for a good clean before the next changes are done???
Good choice for the ceiling, what a transformation its totally changed the feel of the inside of the boat.
Hi there James, ceiling is looking great 👍 it is all coming along great!! Well done 👏 😊👋
Looks great mate, i like the way the lines go down the boat and makes a focal point, good choice on the panels 👍
Looks fantastic and starting to have that lovely homely feel
As they say: "Now we are talking"
Great progress
Looks great James. Well done both you and Rob 😊❤
Love Rob - such a great friend! The ceiling looks fabulous now - definitely the right choice. Hope you manage to get the rest done soon.
Hi James what a difference that ceiling looks! It’s going to look great when finished! Great help from rob. Have great week 😊
You made the right decision on the ceiling material. I think the plain high gloss plastic ceiling would have shown up every undulation and would have detracted from the character of the boat. Looking great.
I think it looks good without a centre plinth.
That ceiling not being centered properly would bug me every time I look at it.
Not sure why you didn't trim the lip so the boards are symmetrical, or at least align the groove with centre of the roof, since you're going to have to add trim on the sides anyway.
wow, what a difference........
That ceiling is looking great! I like this material.
Yes, I can see the variance between the centre line and the ceiling panel, even on the video. That's something I would notice, but I think that the idea of putting in a central plinth would be good. I can detect about a 1/8" variance, but if it were consistent, I think the plinth would obscure it just enough. The ceiling is looking very impressive!
Looking good as always James 👍
Roof looks much better.
Looks so good!!
It looks great James. Well done
Looks so good! Well done.
good work on the build keep up the good vid you do
Looking great!!!!
What a great job. It looks amazing!
Looking good James
Looking good James.
Good call to change the ceiling, That looks like just the job and really makes the boat light and open. Not sure what the Wood trim will look like down the centre, think it might look better painted white for the centre, 'wood' be okay on the edges though? just my thoughts.
Have you thought about an extractor fan for the bathroom? Was thinking if you were going to fit one, now would be the time before the ceiling went up. Appreciate fitting one is a hassle.
Where are you not going to add additional mushroom vents for better ventilation? I think you also mentioned putting a fan in one of them?
One cant beat a "Decorative Ring" ! 🤣
Ooh, behave! 😉
With hindsight should you have done the ceiling first? With an empty boat and lots of room. Live and learn 😂
That ceiling isolation foam is very thin - the boat is going to waste a lot of heat.
Yeah the offset is annoying ....as for gap between ,light fitting and groove....just use some white sealant ... fill and blend it to ceiling...It'd look fine .
If your going to put a plinth down the middle of the ceiling why don't you just drill a smaller hole for the lights and mushroom vents?
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
Is Serafina tng?
£40 for a screw 😮😮😂😂🔩🔩
You keep calling your sliding door a pocket door. But a pocket door would be inside of a wall so when the door is open it’s hidden inside the wall.
That’s exactly what I’ve got. Hence me calling it a pocket door. Simple
so when are you building the second wall?
Mdf in the bathroom ?
Did he just say 'anyways'......
Excellent progress 😃well done James🤔and Rob👌👍
