The 15 BEST Steam VR Games

- This episode is pretty old when compared to the lifetime of my channel. I've got a new camera and better microphone.
But more than that, RUclips has been bombarding me with issues because of audio used in the game trailers.
You'd think the developers would appreciate the coverage, but instead I've been forced to mute three short sections. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and as a result their trailers will never be played in full again.
Rather than delete the video I just elected to hide the audio. I'm working on a revision that covers an updated list and that doesn't needlessly include the the trailer audio. Игры
All these games are easily searchable on Steam, but if you're unfamiliar with workshop mods, you can begin by clicking this link. Every level of Return To Rapture is it's own file. You'll subscribe to each one, and the moment you do, they'll be accessible from your main screen within HL: Alyx.

several games you are criminally missing.
1) modded skyrim VR
2) into the radius
3) ghosts of tabor
4) pavlov / contractors
5) they made a really good VR mod for half life 2
honorable mention: if you have a quest headset you can side load doom 3 onto it and play it right on the headset with full motion controls and everything. it plays extremely well in VR.
Onward and Breachers are fantastic pvp shooter
Man, i downloaded Doom 1 and D.3. I still have to play them more time, but they're awesome! I never played Doom 3 before. And when i played it on Quest 2, my godness, it was awesome!
hotdogs, horseshoes and handgrenades is my number one and the only VR game I consistently return to and still enjoy
This is a really great list! A lot of list videos I have watched have mostly one genre, like mostly shooters, mostly horror, etc. This list has a lot of variety and a lot of them are some of my favorites too.
Great list of games. I love A Fisherman's Tale, amazing experience.
Dirt Rally 2 seems awesome; thanks for the info! I’d like to add two more that I enjoy: Elite Dangerous and No Man’s Sky. I just love my space games. Great list/video!
dirt rally 2 is very good especially with a wheel setup and handbrake combo!
@@nomac5 I gotta try it too, but anyway

Great list! So glad to see jet island up there. I got that game cause it was on sale could not play another game until I completed it, it’s essentially shadow of the colossus, mixed with Spider-Man on a hover board. Into the radius should be on here though.
Good list, got me motivated to check out Vertigo 2.
pretty good list! Here are some games you could consider adding. The Light Brigade - in my opinion this is the best VR roguelike on steam, I don't play compound anymore because of it. I see you like Dirt Rally 2 its amazing, so maybe you would like some other cockput games, Vox Machinae is amazing, and Ultrawings 2 is also surprisingly addicting and strikes the perfect balance between sim and arcade.
Can't wait to check them out!
I can't say enough about Star Wars Squadrons. SUCH an amazing VR game. In my top 3 for sure. How the steam score is only 70% is BEYOND me!
Also surprised that Saints and Sinners didn't make your list!
Great video my guy!
For Racing i totally can recommend Automobilista 2, it looks awesome. And yes, Squadrons looks and feels great. i love it

great video man
omg i totally remember going to an old friends house and playing some of these on their pc vr
Really glad you mentioned vertigo, those two games don’t get the love that they deserve
Thank you! I didn't know about the other mods for HLA!
Your life is changing before your eyes.
Thank you! Still rocking the OG Vive with the Samsung Gear Lense mod. It's still great tbh, and with my new 6950XT GPU I can make it look like it's a higher resolution. Anyway, very good video for one that has not been with the VR world in a year or so. But I set it all up recently and I'm looking into new games. Appreciate it!
nice list. thanks for the heads up on Return to Rapture! I might have missed that. also fisherman's tale. I have the set with maskmaker in my cart now.
SW Squadrons was given away free at one time by Epic. It is also on sale quite a bit on steam. At the moment. 1.99. heh! I have it on EA but had trouble getting my hotas to work. I just need to spend more time with it. Then spend time setting up a Q3.
nice video. we need Space Trainer VR on the PSVR2. I like that particular genre where it resembles C-Smash or Masternoid which was a very unpopular title that I love.
Some interesting picks I will have to check out
Good list! Thanks man!
Thanks Buddy!
Squadrons felt like flying around in a Star Wars painting.
I am so glad you included Jet Island on this list - this is the game that made me love VR. Shoutout to @MasterIndieVR - wherever he is!
Good list you have my sub. I loved Half Life Alyx the gunman chronicles are fun. I'm loving Half Life 2 in VR very nostalgic to relive a game in vr.
Thanks! Yeah. I played a little HL2 the other day. It's cool being back there, but it takes me out a bit because of the low polygons and textures. I'll need to jump in again.
I guess its hard to narrow down to 15, but you missed all of my top 3! First off, Microsoft Flight Simulator effectively carries PCVR these days on its Earth sized shoulders. It's a virtual replica of the entire planet, nothing touches it or even comes close. I spent nearly four months last summer flying a castle tour of England, Wales and Scotland. More wow moments than all other games I've played in VR combined!
Subnautica is a must play too, took me 65 hours to complete, absolutely terrifying in places.
Hellblade 2, a smaller, simple game, but my favourite for atmosphere and dark story telling. I've completed it four times, on a Rift S, Quest 2, Reverb G2 and a Quest Pro. It will probably be the first game I complete when the super high resolution microOLED displays launch in around 2025 too.
I haven't played the last 2! Guess I need to. Flight Simulator is one I've used, but without a real advanced flight stick, I felt like I was a little behind. And even my laptop 4080 was struggling to run it on high settings.
But Hellblade 2 is still en development
@@zoscarrhoads7741 ah yes, I meant Hellblade too, as in Hellblade as well.
@@kevinbrook7033 Oh ok, sorry
Hi can you recommend a pc to run mfs, I want to get into pcvr, regards Phil
Great selection... ❤❤❤
I can’t wait to get my Quest 3!
nice video!
Thank you, quite a few that I would enjoy so you must have a similar preference to me :) I will Subscribe and maybe even look at your Patrion page as winning another Quest 3 would be very handy for my Wallet as my Grand Kids now want one after seeing mine :)
Glad it was helpful!
jet island is one of my favorite game ! (and I have play a lot)
I'm playing Hubris and loving the hell out of it. The 2.0 version fixes a lot of issues and introduces new features. Its a single player science fiction action first person shooter with extremely high fidelity graphics, artstyle and a decent story. If I had to compare the level of detail in the graphics to another VR game it would be Lone Echo2. The artstyle is very reminiscent of Halo, but has its own flair. great game so far! edit: playing on a Valve Index.
That sounds great. I'm gonna check it out!
Half life 2 VR mod deserves a mention. It plays like it was built for VR (which makes calves decision to bring HL back for VR specifically make tons of sense). There’s nothing like going through ravenholme with low health and no ammo but a perfectly capable gravity gun in VR. It is TRANSCENDENT
Good luck on your 2k! You're close!
Nearly to 3k. Yeah, it's growing slowly.
Seeing Dirt Rally 2.0 on your list made me nod. :) Only it could have been higher. What a great game. Playing that and Alyx atm.
The upcoming WRC looks like it'll be fun as well.
@@bringhurstvr Yeah, very hyped for that. In fact that made me dig up the DR 2.0 again. Just have to wait for the VR version a little longer though.
I want this! 😊
A bit disappointed gorn wasn’t here but good video
This is fair.
Hi can you advise, I'm into vr with quest 3 but I want to buy a computer, I am on a budget, can you recommend a basic rig to run vr on steam, including mfs flight sim, regards Phil
You'll wanna do your own homework, but I'd recommend something with nothing less than an RTX 3070. I've owned ABS machines in the past and I was happy enough with them. Upgradeable, airflow is okay, and this one is priced to sell.

Westworld on steam is a must
I was looking for some new titles I could try fit PC/VR some of these are already on stand alone
you missed the best one these days imo "Fallout 4 VR - Modern Tactical Overhaul" looks and runs great full game
what u use to edit your videos?
I use Vegas Pro.
Fallout 4 und skyrim vr with wabbajack, the forest, automobilista 2, Microsoft Flugsimulator, into the Radius, cyubevr, Green Hell vr, walking death Saints and sinners, Blade&Sorcery, half life 2 vr mod, Dragon Fist, Ghost of Tabor, No man sky, Elite Dangerous, Valheim vr mod, walkabout mini golf, Far cry 3 vr mod, every serious sam game, eleven Table tennis, Contractors.....ich hoffe das nicht viele Menschen denken das diese merkwürdige liste tatsächlich das beste ist was vr zu bieten hat!
Not a strange list at all. Thanks for taking the time to write it.
You missed 2 of my favourites games, walking dead saints & sinners episodies 1 and 2😅
Must not be good then
Agree!
@@dadarkcrystalone of the better triple A titles on quest
Yep. Definitely.
Saints and sinners was dope
I'm going to ask what may very well be a dumb question but when we say "VR games" are these games generally playable across all VR devices? Or do I need to find information game to game that specifies that games are designed for a specific VR device? I'm awaiting the arrival of a Quest 2 and this is my first dive into anything but a console device (and its been 10 years since I've done that). In the same idea that I can't buy a Playstation game for my XBox is there a similar consideration for Quest 2 and other headsets?
Not a dumb question. This particular list is specifically for games on PCVR (Steam). They're playable on the Quest through Steamlink, Airlink, Oculus Link and Virtual Desktop. But you'll need a gaming ready PC to play any of them.
@@bringhurstvr Is there a difference when playing on the Quest vs on regular desktop? As in, if my computer will run something like No Man's Sky just fine on a monitor will it do the same on the Quest or is more asked of the hardware?
@@jaygremillion it would be easier if you told me the specs of your machine. VR is often asking for double the output of what a normal game demands.
@@bringhurstvrPretty sure that is my answer. It was built 5 or 6 years ago. Only minor upgrades since then. Something like No Man's Sky runs fine mostly. I've only had issues with games when I activate lots of mods (Cities Skyline, Minecraft, The Sims...). But if it require more than regular PC play then its going to be pushing its limits for sure. For some games.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500, 32 RAM, Radeon R9.
@jaygremillion looks like it'll get the job done on medium settings, as far as Alyx goes. But for newer titles or ultra settings you'll want at least an RTX 3070.
I want this
by the way. Rec Room is also available for steamVR
Half-life: ALYX really set the PCVR bar high. Not just in terms with the "Half-life" series, but in PCVR gaming as a whole. It's definitely one of the BEST looking VR games to date. Even now, over a year later. I think the only game that really comes close to the in-game graphics of "HL:ALYX", is "Star Wars: Squadron".
I wish their were more, Open world FPS, like "Into the Radius". But for now, I'm sitting on pins & needles, waiting for " Into the Radius 2" & "Metro: The Awakening".
Nice list dude. You forgot the timestamp for phasmophobia.
This was at a time when I wasn't using time stamps. Anything here is auto-populated by RUclips, which I'm actually impressed it's turned out as well as it has.
"I want this" for my son.
For #1 I in fact don't know what it is. Which is why I'm watching the video.
Fair enough
Oh and you missed What I feel is the best VR has to offer. Asgard's Wrath.
I am trying to make a list of games for enrichment activity in after school program for HS students. I want the games to be fun for them. my supervisor will buy me as many as I want, I just don't know which ones to buy??
Probably Kurzgesagt for sure. I'd say that games like Myst and The 7th Guest promote some serious problem solving skills.
Where do you subscribe to the mod?
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2426339777
silly question, which of these cause nausia ... my quest 3 contractors made me sick for hours ... i suspect vertigo 2 would as well
If Contractors caused nausea then you're gonna want to avoid anything with joystick movement. You'll wanna fight that and get over it, cause you're limiting yourself, but in the meantime these games don't use free movement (or you can select transport over joystick to reduce that effect).
I think all of these offer the ability to teleport over joystick movement. And those that don't aren't reliant on room scale movement to begin with. If you're concerned about any specific game then bring it up and I'll do some extra homework, but even Vertigo 2 let's you teleport.
Edit:
Jet Island will probably cause issues.
I bought my vr just to play Skyrim vr hahah
I got Alien Isolation vr 🙂
a fishermans tale looks like he was drinking too much seawater..
Hello. You forget about "No Man`s Sky" 🤪
I've tried it. It's pretty, but honestly, playing The Forest and Subnautica, I don't have the patience to start over on something like that again. But if you think it's worth it, feel free to make your case.
I was honestly mesmerized by your video until you started talking about that giveaways, who got me out of the zone when watching your video
I want it
Half-Life Alyx is the pinnacle of VR gaming
5 years later, and the only thing that might surpass it is the Wanderer rebuild. Really looking forward to that a couple months from now.
hmm s o i got star war squadrons on epic for free..
anyone have any idea how to get it to run in VR?
or any epic game for that matter.
I haven't had to deal with it, but it seems like you'll find some answers here.
www.windowscentral.com/how-use-epic-games-store-vr-games
If U don't mind installing mods, try Skyrim VR with nexus mods. It's really great game.
Of all games I really wish cyberpunk one day without mods would've had VR support. Or at least the sequel. The city of cyberpunk is so damn good and all the detail is insane. The mod is good but there are several limitations
Is that with the UEVR Injector?
@@bringhurstvr idk what that is
I was waiting for Skyrim, résident evil 4 and Karnage but i supossed it's not your game style
I could easily get into RE4. Skyrim and Karnage look interesting, but truthfully, I've never played Skyrim! I do love the horror genre, but that aside I haven't spent a lot of time in period piece games. Hoping to change that with Assassin's Creed!
For squadrons do you need a hotas?
No. You can use an Xbox controller.
hotas just makes it feel more bad ass lol but its a hard game in MP especially since its mostly ace pilots these days lol but man its cool af in VR sp is good too.
@@nomac5 my next gaming list is gonna be based on not what I've played (not mostly, anyway), but more on what you guys have said here. Feel free to throw in your two cents.
@@bringhurstvr do i hook my ex box to my headset or through steam?
@@SLAYINGVR Wat?
you mention star wars squadrons but no VTOL VR??
Nor MFS or XPlane. I've tried MFS and it under performed using the Quest Pro and my Laptop 4080. Not necessarily an issue with the game, but it just didn't land for me (puns).
Haven't tried VTOL or XPlane yet, but I plan on it!
@@bringhurstvr VTOL is pretty nice. I almost want to say it's VR DCS, but with some of DCSs complexity reduced. Unfortunately some of the weapons feel like they underperform though.
Paper Beast Born in VR later in flat edition.
Oh, really? I didn't know that.
There An Chance You Willing To Give Away The Better Headset??
(PSVR2)
The PSVR2 has been abandoned. I don't even have one.
You forgot Forest
Yo, I'm not seeing that Locomotion game on Steam and I'm pretty sad about it... Where is it?
As specific as that was, and I know I'm the one who's wrong, you'll need to add a couple words.
@@bringhurstvr #5 Locomotion at the 4 minute mark. Im not seeing it in Steam. It looks badass. Might've been taken down?
You keep saying Locomotion, but #5 is Jet Island.
Crap. RUclips added the chapters back before I began implementing them myself. Sorry. Yeah, it's Jet Island.
Thank you! I might've heard wrong but I didn't think you ever said "Jet Island" in the video which is why I was so confused. Thank you so much! I'll def be copping soon, if Amazon would ever drop my Quest off. Shoud've been here yesterday and still hasn't arrived today :( You got a new sub out of me though. Keep it up!
@@bringhurstvr
Honestly i think phasmephobia is the best its so scary and fun
If these are the games you like that’s cool but honestly with this list with the exception of a couple games, you don’t even need PCVR you might as well just grab a quest three.
Nevermind the increased resolution all by itself, but Half Life Alyx, Paper Beast, Vertigo 2, Dirt Rally and Squadrons are all triple-a PCVR games. I think you're ticked off that someone dained to include something as basic as Beat Saber.
But a lot of this audience is getting into VR for the first time, and as obvious as some of these games are, they're gonna be new to a lot of people.
And not for nothing, but custom songs on PCVR Beat Saber is way easier than on standalone. So no, even then it's not an oranges to oranges comparison.
A couple of my favorites, DCS Nothing like flying an FA18 or A10c Warthog. Also, Elite Dangerous you have the whole Milky Way Galaxy to explore.
Only 1st one I liked, and you should check Warthunder game.
Is that VR? I thought it was just a talking point for Some Ordinary Gamers and Linus Tech.
@bringhurstvr I fly planes on VR quest 2 it is cool I will get 3 now and Microsoft flight too.
you should have added bonelab
Red matter 2
It would be useful to repeat the list in the description of the video
Yeah. This was back before I had added chapters. Would have solved this problem. I'll try to update it in a bit.
Why no pvp with this ? Like counter strike
Firstly, I'll be releasing a part 2 shortly that tackles more overlooked games. CS isn't VR. But I think I take your meaning.
I can literally tell that you did not actually play some of these games.
Squadrons was ALWAYS natively VR. In fact that game got me to buy a vr setup just to prepare myself to play it.
It's not what I'd been told. Which would make me wrong. I've played every one of these games. Really stoked you're here.
You completely forgot boneworks
not including boneworks is crazy
Agreed.
no mans sky vr runs much smlother since worlds update
@@efeozturk5253 I played it for a couple hours last week. Plays well, but honestly, I spent so much time investing in Subnautica that the whole inventory system seemed daunting.
I mastered the elements and had container systems for Ruby, Titanium, Rubber, and now I was supposed to just learn it all over again. I wish I hadn't been so tired from the other game.
where is VTOL VR? its a very good game

@@bringhurstvroh ok i was about to say
great video but pls fix ur mic
This video's pretty old.
Why can't VR games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 just work like Halflife Alyx
Because something like that has to be built from the ground up with VR in mind from the outset. And honestly, everyone just foams at the mouth when we get a port or mod, and it's so much cheaper than building something new, that the industry thinks it's not in demand.
But the upcoming rebuild of Wanderer has me frothing. I'm so excited for it. Alyx was beautiful. Vertigo 2 was a blast. But the Wanderer rebuild looks to be absolutely ground breaking, and in a shift we haven't seen in 5 years.
Surprised to see Dirt Rally 2 on this list as I can not and many others get this game to look good in VR. It is a juttery....shimmery mess no matter what settings. I have seen people play it in VR and it looks fine but not sure what is going on with it. Other games look fine.
Huh, I've had it working smoothly with an RTX 2070 and now a laptop 4080. I have to drag the graphics down a notch for a better game rate, but otherwise it works well.
@@bringhurstvr I went back and messed with the settings more because I could not understand why what I would see in videos of ppl playing in VR looked significantly better then what I was seeing.
A few things I realized...one...the dash namely the numbers on the speedo and similar looked blurry. When I enabled to change cameras and a few showed everything closer I realized it was not the game but if I actually LOOKED closer at things they got VERY clear.
With that said...in the test area when things are further away in the distance it looks pretty bad. BUT I realized that while racing things that far in the distance do not really need to look that great and it is more about what I can see close around me and the car.
Also changed some settings as far as resolution ..changing and seeing the effects.
Also ...I am new to VR gaming so keep that in mind :)
where’s blade and sorcery????
It's around here somewhere.
BONEWORKS WHERE IS IT
It's around here somewhere.

@@bringhurstvr is it not a good game
Why I Never hearing about Fallout 4 vr? Always the same vr games everywhere!
Whelp, check out my follow up vid.
No nice Game for me.
I Hope for Future
The intro music is horrible. Lookin' forward to the rest of the vid though.
Wow, thanks man.
Presume we're not VR experts and therefore that we do not have hours playing each of these games. If I didn't know anything before watching this list, I would be confused. I could google about each game you mentioned to find out more, but I haven't heard a good reason to waste my time with any of them. You praise HL Alyx as if everyone likes it. I really really don't. Zombie hunting in the dark with no ammo is not my idea of "a good time."
If you like the game, any game you mention, speak from personal experience. Say what you personally liked about it. What didn't you like? How is your video any better than a bland, disjointed commercial for random games? Have your own input shape our expectations. Praise the game and your time having played it. If I didn't know beat saber was a rhythm game, I wouldn't know it from your video either. Just explaining what rhythm game is would also be welcome. Most new VR players will not be familiar with that term. I know I wasn't. I didn't expect to care or like Beat Saber, yet I do- and I'm very glad it had a demo. It allowed me to see what the fuss was about- somewhat.
Anyway, thank you for reading and good luck with your future YT posts.
No, this was months ago and I've actually grown quite a bit since this. I agree with everything you said. Which makes it a little disconcerting that this is my only video to get this many views.
I wish there was a constant and somewhat steady flow of new(+ good) VR titles. Not games like, Lawnmower simulator 👎, or other similar titles 👎👎👎(insert FART noise here).
GTA 5 VR
no man's sky.
A 14 second intro is absurdly excessive
Yeah. This video is pretty old. I'd take issue with the microphone though, if I was gonna pick on anything.
@bringhurstvr a mic being iffy is a money issue. I'm not gonna fault someone for not having the best equipment. A long intro is just a bad decision. (Also not saying you have money issues lol, yk what I mean)
Anyway it's not a huge deal, just giving advice.
@@sirsurgenor thanks. It was updated a while back.
