Hey scs, I have an all stock exhaus. But my cats are done for😞 can I run test pipes with the stock exhaust with out a tune. I plan on getting the scs exhaust later on and then tuning the car.
Let's say I used test pipes and if it's too loud for my personal taste and say in a month then I want to put the stock Cats back on, will the check engine light go out and the car run normally with no problem?
I know this is a “late” comment, but one quick question. You said you were running Manzo test pipes and they worked great, but I’m looking at a set of them right now that says they will not fit an AWD model. No fitment for an AWD G37x?
It's impossible to know. If you're just driving around normal it's fine for awhile I'm sure. If you're driving fast everywhere, you could run into lean issues. some people never get tuned and dont have a problem . It's just not a good idea.
Great content , I have a question I have a 2012 g37x sedan and I have muffler and resonators off with an axle back, I want to get more power and get popping sounds, would removing my cats and getting test pipes and putting on my resonators again sound like a good idea ?
Yeah you definitely want to remove cats before you get a pop tune. you also would want that resonator on especially with test pipes or your VQ will be a driving trumpet🤣
HFCs are better if you don’t want loud and raspy. Resonated test pipes will allow for more power, but you’ll also want to consider tuning at that point as well.
@@brianvasquez1479 isr is ok. Not top tier but should be fine with HFCs. To get max performance out of HFCs, you’d want to tune as well, but the car can generally adjust and run normally with them. Test pipes can be questionable though. They may cause an engine light.
Hi, I'm thinking of installing vibrant ultra quiet resonators to quiet down my exhaust because it's too loud. Do you think this resonator will restrict HP performance in any way? Also which resonator would you advice that's extremely effective at quieting down the noise if you don't agree with vibrant that doesn't hurt power gains? Thanks
@@nozahyoublockqork2690 no. Non resonated doesn’t help with anything lol. All I was saying is that you’ll still get rasp with resonated but drone will be better. You need a good catback to handle it

I want the gains and the growl (HFCs should be fine for the time being), but I worry that it might attract the popo here in Vancouver. They... do not like modified cars here.
Thanks again in advance if/when you can respond! :)
If you’ve never modified cars before, you’ll notice the smell. If you’ve been around this world, you know that’s what a car should smell like lol.
I don’t notice it in the cabin at all. Standing behind the car, it just smells like exhaust fumes...good!
@@SpeedCultureStudios thanks for the reply and the insight! Maybe in a year or so I might switch to ART pipes then if no smell gets in the cabin. That was my biggest worry lol
That duster your using doesn’t leave any swirl marks in the paint ?
It actually does pretty well, but I don’t and wouldn’t use it often-especially on the Q50 because the paint is so soft
I'm from CT and everything is good thank god
Glad to hear it!
Following you from Mexico City (near Mexico City) Q50 3.7 Perfection, I want to do something with my exhaust system, but I am affraid to ruin the system, specially the Catalityc Converters part, the environmental laws here are very strict. I see your entire setup in another video and I quote it in local Ecommerce pages in Mexico and it is around $9000 pesos (about 410 USD). Is that setup affecting the Emissions systems? Is that setup using test pipes? Regards !
Test pipes will not pass emissions--at least here in the USA. The catback system is legal however.
It might. You can always disconnect the battery too or try to have a cleared with a code reader.
Would you recommend used test pipes for cheaper ? Thank you
If they are in good shape yes!
I know this is a “late” comment, but one quick question. You said you were running Manzo test pipes and they worked great, but I’m looking at a set of them right now that says they will not fit an AWD model. No fitment for an AWD G37x?
I don’t know why they wouldn’t fit. They are just regular test pipes.
If I get test pipes on my g37 am I going to fail emissions tests? I live in Virginia. I love the videos btw very informative and professional!
Depends on resting. If visual inspection only might get by, but otherwise no.
Speed Culture Studios thank you!
How long can you drive with test pipes without a tune before problems start to come your way ? NEED RESPONSE ASAP
I decided to get ark grip exhaust , what is better for that exhaust( berk resonated test pipes or ISR HFC) ? I want it to sound deep & not crazy loud
HFCs are better if you don’t want loud and raspy. Resonated test pipes will allow for more power, but you’ll also want to consider tuning at that point as well.
@@SpeedCultureStudios would have to get tuned if I got with HFC ? Also would ISR be good for that exhaust ? Like is it good & safe setup
@@brianvasquez1479 isr is ok. Not top tier but should be fine with HFCs. To get max performance out of HFCs, you’d want to tune as well, but the car can generally adjust and run normally with them. Test pipes can be questionable though. They may cause an engine light.
@@SpeedCultureStudios perfect thank you for your help & time
Hi, I'm thinking of installing vibrant ultra quiet resonators to quiet down my exhaust because it's too loud. Do you think this resonator will restrict HP performance in any way?
Also which resonator would you advice that's extremely effective at quieting down the noise if you don't agree with vibrant that doesn't hurt power gains?
Thanks
Should I get resonated tested pipes or non resonated price doesn’t bother me I don’t understand the difference
Resonated just helps with drone a bit. Doesn’t help much with rasp.
@@SpeedCultureStudios non resonated helps with rasp better ?
@@nozahyoublockqork2690 no. Non resonated doesn’t help with anything lol. All I was saying is that you’ll still get rasp with resonated but drone will be better. You need a good catback to handle it
@@SpeedCultureStudios Thank you
@@SpeedCultureStudios Thank you
Will it be bad for my car if I don’t get a tune with test pipes because I want to wait for the tune until I get headers and a new intake plenum
It’s not great to run test pipes without a tune. Many people have done it or do it but it’s not ideal. I would just suggest tuning as soon as possible
I was looking into getting test pipes for my g37 and saw at least a couple made by nice brands that were specifically advertised as capable of not throwing a check engine light and I was wondering if there is any way that’s true?
90% of people get a check engine light. But even if you don’t, the reality is that the car needs to be tuned for them.
Thank you I appreciate it
I just ordered resonated isr test pipes. What do you think about them?
They are perfectly fine
Man u really helped me out dude god bless.
Really glad to hear that!
That duster is the fastest way to love marks/scratches
Love marks haha. I like that. It actually does pretty well. It’s much better than using a towel because pressure applied is much lighter. Moderation is key.
Just add some lubrication and a very heavy gsm towel you’ll appreciate it in the future
@@ChristiannTyler yes a quality detailed and towel are in the kit as well. The duster has rarely been used-it’s too hot here and they are a bit too waxy
I should’ve got Tein springs 🤦♂️
I'm happy with mine lol!
Speed Culture Studios I have RSR on already
Criztian Ramirez what’s wrong with the RSR?
iLeGenDzZz nothing, just that the rear is not as low as the front
Criztian Ramirez should’ve got rsr super down
I have a 2014 q50, could you send the link to the test pipes?
Does anyone know how difficult it is to install art pipes on AWD?? If not any close replacements?
Can’t really be done. Maybe with some modification, but not worth it.
Got Z1 test pipes on my G37 sedan and no CEL
You’re lucky!
I have a question, if I’m going for a flame map, should I go for resonated or non resonated? I’m trying to keep it budget friendly so I would love your opinion.
Doesn’t matter. Both are straight through.
Speed Culture Studios thank you bro. Last question, I know it might sound stupid but with resonated pipes, are they more quiet the stock cats?
Joshua Babulal no. Like I said, test pipes are wide open. They are super loud compared to stock cats-cats are very restrictive.
