    I completely agree with you, but my exhaust was so rusted it needed to be replaced, so I bought a catback. The catback sounds soooooo good, and there is actually a gain at higher rpms. Expecting a huge performance upgrade from an aftermarket exhaust for the g37 is just unrealistic, so I hope no one thinks that

    • @SpeedCultureStudios

    There Is a video of a 370 Z with Z1 headers on the Dyno It did gain horsepower BUT for a NOW price of $1,500 It isn’t worth it and yes they do fit the Q50 chassis

    • @GuyX2013
      @GuyX2013 3 года назад +1

      Honestly Headers do make more power but in my opinion as well , they're not worth the money and effort to install unless you plan on supercharging. Only thing worth doing to these cars performance-wise is if you're gonna spend a couple of grand is to go big and boost it yourself. With newer cars coming out turbo charged from the gate, or with V8s , the only way to overcome that power to weight ratio disadvantage is with boost and the VQ37 can make some crazy power boosted on stock internals.

      It is quite uncomfortable to slide around that much but it also cane become dangerous, especially after a long day when your body starts to experience some fatigue, it becomes harder to stay planted and then you’re at risk of losing control. I don’t know about you, but I have done 200 mile mountain runs with only 1 stop. It’s exhausting! This seat will help a lot!

    Love your videos! My G37x needs a new catback due to factory rust. The shop I use told me yesterday there is no OEM availability and manufacturing has stopped on factory exhausts. Due to the raw material shortage of stainless steel, I was extremely fortunate to score a Stillen catback system to replace it. They only had 1 left with a 3 month waiting period afterwards! Gonna pair it with some aFe filters and see what happens. Feels like I'm 17 again. lol Just gotta install some 12" subs and do burnouts in a school parking lot now.

    Ported intake manifold and plenum are bad because it moves Volumetric Efficiency up to a higher CFM. Normal driving will be at a lower VE, and less torque (which is where torque is most necessary!)
    If you want opened up wide ported runners, you need to live at high RPM and that's just not how people drive..

      I agree with everything he is saying. Maybe its because im older now. I also grew up spending my hard earned cash trying to modify cars like my celica then my wrx only to find it makes more noise than speed. Some mods increase horsepower but decreased low end torque. I never wanted to mess with the car by tuning it as well. i've owned a 370z for 10yrs now and have nothing on it but a drop in filter. Will never take it to a track or a drag strip. Very happy for what the car is in stock form. Its people like me who shouldnt bother with the mods.. for those who track and take their cars to car shows buying "go fast" parts might be for you.

      I don’t know what broscience is. All information is backed up by actual results that are readily available on RUclips-in fact I actually showed you an example in this video not to mention I have several others showing actual dyno footage and results.
      You ever consider that “results” presented by a company that is trying to sell a product might be a little misleading? Use your brain man.
      Seriously-what do I have to gain by making this stuff up? What do I get out of telling you to NOT buy something? Nothing.
      I’m just trying to save you a little money. If you want to buy all this shit and get the same results as someone that spends half as much as you-go ahead. I’d rather use that savings to buy proper supporting mods, but that’s just logic.

    I've been driving an infiniti on stock suspension for less than a year and driving hard. It doesnt hold up and definitly has to much play. getting coil overs isnt even a "oh it looks cool close to the ground" its keeping the car weight on the ground for traction, I find myself letting off the gas because I can feel traction fading.
    If you plan on driving daily and respecting the car like its your dad's car than stock is fine.

      Second, I have always said that the G responds better to intakes than the Q, which is just a fact but that even still, you’re getting minimal gains over just using better filters-but if you want to spend $500 for 3 wheel hp, go for it.
      Finally, You have to use logic when watching his videos. He never tunes the cars with drop ins first for a comparison. He takes untuned cars installs jntakes and then dynos them. You never actually see if there is improvement-only final results. He sells his own intakes. You think he’s going to show you that they don’t make power? Come on bro. There are also videos out there showing Gs with takeda intakes and then changing to admin 3” intakes and they made like 1 more hp and concluded for the cost and effort to install they were not worth it.

If you only drive to the store and back bro that's you. Nothing wrong with lowering springs if you know that you're buying springs that will lower your car exactly to the height you want. Also if your car is old af you may want to upgrade the shocks. The engine "performance" parts I could understand but opinionated data on how your car should handle man come on

    Would you say post maf tubes are worth it for the g37? People claim the stock accordion part of the intake tube creates turbulence and can negatively affect airflow.
    Also, any cheaper drop in filter recommendations that aren't expensive? aFe charge a lot

      You’re in the right track! The G does respond a bit better to intakes, but $500 is not necessary! I’ve used speed dady filters (eBay) with good results. Super cheap. I think they are out right now though. The smooth z1 tubes are good. It’s hard to prove that the turbulence hurts performance, but the z1 tubes are silicone which insulate better than rubber so they are better for that reason at a minimum.

    Controversial stuff for those bench racers LOL. Totally agree on your points. Headers: not needed if the factory unit flows well. If you live in Calif like me, CARB regulations make it tough for tuners (very $$$) to make legal headers. Cat-backs are purely for sound, gains are minimal at best. Suspension: springs paired with quality shocks, bars, and bushings was the route I took to improve handling for track days, very cost effective vs track coils (Ohlins). You never mentioned tire choice: that alone can make or break handling on the track or the street. All these mods I did on a manual BMW 330ci I used to own (miss it). Never had a Q50 3.7, but I am kicking some tires.

      Not sure how you got that from this video. You obviously didn't listen or you only heard what you wanted to hear. The VQ37, particularly the Q50, does not respond that well to cold air intakes. It is very well known and widely excepted as fact. The Q50 doesn't respond that well to headers--you can spend 1500+ for 2-3 hp if ou want, but but doesn't make much sense to me. 99% of people don't drive hard enough to actually "need" coilovers. That's just common sense. I didn't say anything that wasn't factual. Take it as you want.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  4 года назад +2

      CAI intakes don’t improve temps over factory air boxes at all because even the best ones use the factory locations and pull air from the same place. Silicone intake tubes would probably even better if that were the case because silicone is an excellent insulator and would keep out more engine heat than an intake pipe.
      As far as springs-you must have gotten the wrong springs man. My tein s techs have 0 bounce. Ride great and have the perfect drop. Coilovers are fantastic if you need or desire adjustability or really push the car in extreme conditions-track days or autocross. But for 90% of us that will never see a track, they aren’t necessary as long as you use a quality spring.
      But yes-learn your car and really think about what you want to get out of it before you dump a bunch of money into it for no reason.

    I have a 2009 370z touring model w/sport package. The car came with Mishimoto intake tubes and K&N filters. It's ironic you mentioned installing the aFe dry intake filters which I was looking at doing but also came across a brand new AEM CAI w/heat shields for $316. Along with this I've already purchased the Injen true duel full catback exhaust and FI HFC with resonators. You mentioned the earlier 370z don't have as good stock headers but the 2014+ do? Sorry to be talking etc.......I'm just confused now...lol. once those 3 items were installed I was going to do a dyno/tune. Please thoughts perspectives recommendations? Also who do you recommend to tune the vehicle?

      The Q50 translates better to the 370z than the g35. You won’t benefit all that much with CAI but if you found a good deal on them, then go for it! The HFCs and catback paired with the intakes and a tune will get you most of the power out of that car. Headers are expensive and a pain to install and might only get you a couple more hp, so you just have to decide if it’s worth it for you.

      But it doesn’t. Gains are very minimal if any at all, particularly in the Q50, with these mods. Cai has been proven over and over to yield maybe 3hp over simple drop in filters. Q50 already has a header design, which is why they yield little power as well-again shown over and over from dyno pulls from various tuners. Ported upper and lowers have been very mixed. Some see a few hp and others have actually lost torque. This isn’t made up-it can be seen across RUclips. If I could gain another 10hp from a ported manifold, another 10 for a cai and another 10 from headers like people claim, which would put me at 365 wheel, I’d do it all tomorrow-but it’s never going to happen lol. You made perfect sense on all of it right up until you began explaining suspension. The “pressure” doesn’t increase because you used lowering springs. The fluid is displaced by impact/rebound. How far you have it in the tube is irrelevant. You blew the struts by lowering the car without also shortening the stroke of the damper. Repeated bottom outs (or top outs) blows the seals. Godspeed coilovers are cheaper than just a set of loaded struts for the front alone. No coilovers do not sacrifice ride quality. You are just shit at setting them up.
    It’s cheaper to go with coilovers if you need to replace your suspension which is why i literally have them on everything I own. All godspeed mono sets. 04 G35, 15 Q60 and mk6 golf R. My YJ jeep is about to get a set from Fox once I get my 1t axles.

      You’re taking it too literally. “Pressure” meaning strain or stress. You also keep saying “you.” Who are you referring to? I didn’t blow any struts. Coilovers, in general, do absolutely sacrifice ride quality-some more so than others-compared to factory suspension. Again with the “you.” I am pretty good at setting up my Coilovers-far from being “shit” at it. They handle very well for the application, and ride very close to stock. But to say a Coilover setup has factory ride quality is just wrong. I would never recommend Godspeed to anyone, but I’m glad you’ve had good luck with them.
      I agree that Coilovers are cheaper than replacing factory components. That’s always my recommendation. If you’re factory setup is shot, it makes more sense to get Coilovers.

      We will just have to agree to disagree as to the ride quality portion of the discussion.
      As to the “YOU” word that seems to bother you. It’s being applied in a general sense so nothing personal was intended.
      As for the “pressure” topic. Lowering the vehicle in no way changes the valving of the dampers nor the viscosity of the fluid so no the pressure will not increase in any way.
      People (in general) will put lowering springs on and not take into consideration the total travel of the dampers thusly destroying a perfectly good strut assembly.
      If one stays within the limits then yes factory suspension with some drop springs is hard to beat when its just a daily doing the dragons tail 3-4 time per year.
      And I am in no way calling YOU shit but luck really isn’t a thing when it comes to coilovers. There is only correct product application and incorrect product application. The brand of coilover is a dead horse thats been beat to pieces. The $2900 bilsteins i put on my mk6 R blew out in less than 5 weeks. Car was only lowered 1.5” This is $2900 that did NOT include full body adjustment 🤮. But at the end of the day this is still MY fault as I was asking the suspension to do more than it was able to do. So yeah, $1000 godspeed momo ss it is. They came with full body adjustment standard.
      I track my G35 with godspeed mono rs (a step down from the ss) $750 when I bought them. Literally run them for 5 seasons and drove her as a daily. Zero issues. Unless you count my gallery gaskets that cost my an engine.
      I have done suspension for about half my life so I have 20 years worth of busting, fixing and repeating shit under my belt.

      Every car is a little different, obviously, but there are certain parts that we are talking about 1 - 2 hp difference at a $500+ cost. That small of a hp bump is not going to win or lose a race. There are many many other factors that will play into a race far more than 1 - 10 hp like reaction time, traction, tune, weight. I mean wheel weight alone could hurt a car! People are spending $2,000+ beyond the basics for a few more peak horsepower that they may not even notice.

      Tyler Jalbert Listen, I know you’re one of those kids that only knows a tiny bit about cars and thinks that an intake is the coolest thing and is the only thing you know how to install yourself so you think it’s a must. However, there are tons of dyno videos that show VQs with all sorts of setups and the results show very clearly that the cars with drop in filters make just right at the same power numbers as cats with intakes. I’m not making this up. You can go look for yourself. I have buddies that had their cars tuned at the same shop I had mine done at on the same machine in the same conditions and they both said they wish they wouldn’t have wasted money on intakes because I made more power than one of them and 1 hp less than the other-but I made more torque than both of them.
      So my point was made 3 times. In the video that I made dedicated to intakes I showed several different results that proved my point as well. It’s not about knowing what I’m talking about-anyone with a brain can analyze results. My wife could compare the mods and numbers for Christ sake and see the correlation. Don’t be one of those tools that just thinks intakes are miracle parts. They just aren’t. Some cars respond well to them-like my old mustangs for example. Intakes were a must for them. The Q50 however-they just don’t respond to intakes.

      Tyler Jalbert I didn’t say you won’t make power with them and a tune. I said you won’t make MORE power with them over upgraded filters. I simply installed aFe dry filters and saw gains in hp and torque through the entire rpm range. The same amount of gains as many people that spend $400+ on intakes. This is pretty commonly known, but a lot of guys like intakes because they make a bit more noise.

    I don't think you need to be pushing the car so hard in the corners to feel the difference in coilovers, the stiffer spring rates don't only come into play at high speeds but at any speed coming around a corner. I don't doubt that there are lowering springs that perform perfectly well and don't blow out your stock shocks as long as you stay within about an inch of drop, but you are paying for so much more with coilovers than just lowered center of gravity. You are getting possible weight reduction, stiffer springs, and a special level of customization so that you can tune your handling and ride height to what is most comfortable to you.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  4 года назад

      No, of course you will feel them in everyday driving. They change the feel significantly. My point is that they don’t provide much benefit if you aren’t tracking the car. Coilovers are significantly more expensive-and yes you get more capability, but if it is never utilized, the value becomes null.

    • @scoutdrago4
      @scoutdrago4 4 года назад +1

      @@SpeedCultureStudios Again, I think my point is standing on that "wont ever feel it if you don't track the car". What about canyon/mountain driving? Or just generally driving around curving/winding hilly roads. People do this for fun, and coilovers will most definitely improve handling in those scenarios. I respect that you may not personally push your vehicle except when you track it, and I am not condoning breaking local laws or driving carelessly. I am just pointing out that people do push there cars in places other than the track, and would benefit from stiffer spring rates and more customization based on their personal preference.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  4 года назад +1

      Said Kharboutli Don’t take “tracking the car” so literally. 95% of the guys asking about/installing Coilovers don’t even hit the curves spiritedly. Obviously you will feel Coilovers carving the canyons, but my point is that there really aren’t that many people that even do that. They buy coils to drop it low and to call people that buy springs “cheap” lol.
      Listen, if someone wants to buy coils because they like having the adjustability, that’s totally cool. If you’re looking for a bit better handling and a nicer stance, springs are perfect for 95% of people out there!

Recently, I had a Fast Intentions TDX cat back x-pipe exhaust along with a Stillen Gen 3 long tube CAI installed and then had it dyno tuned on a Dynojet chassis dyno with EcuTek software. The result was a 46 hp(computed at the crank) increase in peak horsepower above the stock 332 hp. The torque increased evenly across the rev range about 15% over stock. I agree with the coilovers part. If you drive your car on public roads and don't want to worry about feeling like you're beating the hell out of the shock towers and your back with every minor bump on the road, I suggest a good set of springs instead. I've been driving over a year on Swift spec r's on my 370Z and have not blown shocks yet. I have the perfect stance for me, car runs flatter around corners but the bumps are handled in a way that you feel like its still on stock suspension. I think I'm going to get a stiffer front stabilizer bar to minimize body roll even further. If you don't plan on building your own turbo kit then I agree not to waste money on CAIs otherwise go for it and when you're ready, convert them to intercooler piping but definitely K&N drop-ins will do the same. As for test pipes I suggest not buying those until you're ready to get the car tuned so you're not getting your rear bumper filthy from all the unburned gas.

    According to admin tuning. All 370z/Q50 3.7s 2014 and newer tend to run much stronger on the dyno. I dont actually know why, but thats what admin tuning homie said. So some of us prior 2014 have to go with plenium/manifold/headers to even get what 2014+ owners can get with minimal mods.

      Yes it is true that the older VQs respond better to mods, and the newer versions make better baseline numbers and benefit very little from part "upgrades." The cam in the 2014+ is slightly different--Admin has mentioned that in some of their videos as well--and the 2014+ has a better header design--more of a shorty header than a manifold like the older ones.
