    This package is a great bridge between stock and turbo and relatively budget friendly. Even if you stay FBO this kit still would be fun. Even if you decide to go turbo you still can keep the upper and lower intake manifold and exhaust . There might be some ppl that will try to duplicate this kit but with top of the line exhaust, intakes and headers will spend A TON more and end up with the same numbers.

  • @MrTilbin
    @MrTilbin Год назад +5

    Also remember, Z1 has already tested this kit. You aren't messing around with slightly different brands and or fit and finish.

    There is alot of validity in what's being said however, you can YANK that Crank number down pretty easily without using the Z1 Kit for way cheaper.
    Custom CAI-System (Consisting of Proper Piping with slots for Sensors and lines, 3", Silicone Couplers, Gold Wrap and Quality Clamps) - $300
    Set of Ebay Test Pipes -3" - $125
    Quality Exhaust Gaskets -$80
    Factory Piping removed and I managed to replicate the SCS Exhaust package you recommended MINUS a Y-Pipe as I am now True Dual from front to back 3" diameter with labor for installation - $-700
    Thermal Spacer and Lower Plenum Spacer - $200
    E85 Flex Fuel Kit w/450lph Pump + 1000CC injectors (For future mods that will involve forced induction) - $500
    $1905 In parts and Labor, leaving off the fact that I was already tuned. A Ported Intake Manifold is USELESS on this application, it's plastic, you cant achieve the same surface smoothness with it that you can on metal because it doesn't take to polishing the same, the airflow over the surface will never be as smooth and never move with as much velocity as it would over a metal one to matter, and even getting a bigger TB and port matching it only compounds the problem because you get MORE air moving MORE chaotically at possibly slower speeds. Manifolds are at their most efficient when air FLOWS in uniform INTO ignition chambers, not tumbling which is what will more then likely occur from an attempt a porting a plastic manifold. THAT Said...with this set up and tune i saw 377whp and would wager i spent far less then the Z1 400whp kit. Honestly, your SCS Exhaust recommendation is better then anything Z1 offers, Im surprised you're not pushing a Self-Created Kit of your own composition over anything from Z1.

Making power in these things N/A is easy you just have to keep your goals realistic and avoid time on the rollers playing it safe. I did my own motor and assembly so I tune for max power and reliability not safety and I'm on either E85 or straight race gas ALL the time.

      @6MT.V36 you don't even need cams. The single exhaust is hurting you tbh, it will fuck with the valve overlap that the Vq motors need to make efficient power (and why they usually see so much gain from exhaust mods). 3" CAI, upper and lower intake plenum spacer, I did go BIG Throttle body and had it port matched (90mm) but for the money I spent I still don't think the gains made it worth it, bigger injectors and fuel pump were essential, you got the long tubes already so u golden.

    Can you explain why you're promoting this package now when in a prior video called "5 mods you absolutely don't need" you mentioned most of the parts from this kit aren't necessary to get most of the hp and trq gain? I heard you mention the catalytic converter and tuning was most important to change. I intend to push my VQ37VHR engine on my 370Z to a balance between as much increase in hp/trq with maximum reliability. To keep it NA and get the maximum miles out of the engine while also performing as much as it can. How does anyone know when it's required to mod instead of stick with oem for a goal like that?

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  8 месяцев назад +2

      Not necessarily promoting but updating since my first package review from several years ago. The package itself has changed and tuning on the vq37 has gotten better. Yes, the main pieces of the puzzle are test pipes and catback with a tune. Headers instead of test pipes might get you a couple more hp peak and maybe a bit in the midrange. The long tube intakes probably won’t get you too much for power but will help keep temps down when pushing the car for prolonged periods.
      Like I said in the video and in past videos, it can be done cheaper or you can get 95% there, but for convenience and uniformity, this is a good kit. Or you can just get pieces of it. Just depends what you’re going for. Bang for the buck, convenience, or peak NA power…

    Do you think dyno numbers online get influenced by other things people don't mention or disclose? Like wheel weight, tire weight/grip, lightweight 2-piece rotors, 93 octane (or higher), outside air temperature, etc. You see great numbers all over for this platform, but all tests are not created equal is basically what I'm saying.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  Год назад +1

      Yes obviously there are a ton of variables. No two dynos read the same either. You just have to sort of look at the averages. Wheels and tires have an impact heat and humidity have a major impact. These cars need to run in premium anyway so all are tuned on 91-93. Generally I’d they are using anything other than pump gas or have gone e85 that is disclosed. But yes, there are a number of things to keep in mind. But there have been such a huge number of these cars dyno’d with similar mods so we have a fairly solid idea of what the numbers will be before making the first pull.
