  • Welcome back to BetterAvecBourbon! Today we’re going to have a Mojito off, comparing the modern quintessential cuban style rum used against the OG cuban rum: Havana Club vs. Bacardi. Prior to the Cuban revolution when their Cuban assets were seized and they moved their headquarters to Puerto Rico, Bacardi was THE rum in Havana and would’ve been the obvious choice for a mojito. Now it’s common to use a 3 year Cuban rum like Havana Club: but what tastes better? Let's find out.
    Recipe
    - 2 ounces white or Cuban rum
    - 1/2 ounce rich demerara syrup
    - 0.75 ounces lime juice
    - 4 ounces club soda

Always appreciate the tips you add to your clips, like the lime juice helping to break down the mint leaves. Cheers!

When it comes to refreshing cocktails it doesn’t get much better than the mojito!

I'm having trouble believing Bacardi would be the better of these two...

Fair concern! I guess it depends on whether it's important for you to taste more of the rum barrel or not, since a big difference is the 2 extra years the Havana Club is aged. I found the white rum just allows the mint + demerara to shine more!
