Hi Steve! I recently fell in love with Barcelós rum (Gran Añejo). Not too expensive for a student but still good in my opinion 😊 At least when a dark rum is needed. For white rum I prefer Bacardi. Btw, how long can you store lime juice? As a rule of thumb I mean. I still have some in the fridge from last weekend and would really like a Mojito without the need to press another couple of limes 😅
@@FreddeP91 the reviews sound pretty decent considering how inexpensive it is, good find! Generally I'd recommend only keeping it for up to 48 hours but if I was making myself a drink and there was lime juice in the fridge, I'd use it (as long as it was in a sealed bottle)..
I was going to comment about stirring the mojito until I saw this, excellent! However, I'm sure the Dark & Stormy is only trademarked in the USA so you can still call it such in other countries. Could be mistaken though!
Kit Carruthers not stirring was just another random brain fart when I get in front of the camera! 😆 yeah, I assumed it was only trademarked in the US but referenced this info as the majority of subs are in the US..

The variety of delicious concoctions demonstrated here is truly impressive. From classic favorites like the Mojito and Piña Colada to creative twists like the Rum Sour and Tropical Storm, there's something to suit every taste.
I'm a home bartender myself, so I've had the chance to try a few of these. Daquiri is my go-to if I'm looking for a quick drink to make. Mojito is nice and refreshing I find, even if it is a bit more labor intensive. I've made some variations on the Mai Tai, but it was one of my early favorites and is still a favorite of mine to this day. I don't personally like spicy ginger beer, so when I tried the dark and stormy, as you can imagine, it wasn't a favorite of mine. The salty bird is the only one I have yet to try and I have all the ingredients, so I may well give it a try, thanks for the drink idea Steve!
@@StevetheBartender_ Hello again Steve, I thought I would give you my review of "The salty bird". I personally have to say that I enjoyed this drink, it would certainly be a great drink on a hot summer day. The thing that I immediately noticed when it hit my tongue was the introduction of the pineapple juice. Following that was the transition from pineapple to lime juice (the citrus of the drink really pops). The sweetness of the simple syrup was also slightly noticeable. I can't say I noticed the salt, but lets face it, a pinch isn't something you're likely to notice, but I will admit, it most likely DID cut the bitterness of the campari. Speaking of the campari, early in the drink (before the ice melts) it makes a very pronounced appearance in the aftertaste. As the ice melts however, it is reduced to a slight linger. Overall though, very enjoyable and I appreciate the opportunity that you've given me to enjoy a drink I might not have known about otherwise. Keep up the great work, and know that I raised a glass to a new flavor thanks to you this evening, cheers! 1) Splendid english on the shake. 2) for a Mojito, I've always done mint, short press, then sugar and half a lime cut in eighths, then a long muddle. You end up with a mint/lime oil oleosaccarum as the sugar abrades the lime peel annd shreds the mint without giving it qma grassy taste. Then add some lime juice if necessar, then ice, white or short aged rum. Shake, soda to fill, roll to mix, mint sprig, sliver of sugarcane, straw.

Why didn't W&N at any point along say "Hey, if we start making the 17 yo again, it'll be a GOLD MINE!"
