    I love how you listed the CEL light 5th... thank you, my 4.0 did all this stuff for weeks. FINALLY threw code 0118.
    Now it all makes sense 😅

    On my 2004 Yukon XL, thindicatore engine would occasionally stumble or miss briefly, then return to running normally. When it stumdled, the temperature gauge would also drop significantly, then come back to normal. It would occasionally drop less noticably without the engine missing. The guage dropping (70-100 degrees it a second, then bounce right back) was the indicator that it was the sensor. The computer would attempt to adjust and the engine would miss. Swapped the sensor ($12), problem solved.

    Good general information. It would be good to have a follow up video on how to test voltage output of a temp sensor with an ohm meter.

    Great video, can overflowing reservoir bottle can be caused by faulty sensor. Already replaced rad cap and thermostat. thx

    • @TechandCars123
      @TechandCars123  5 месяцев назад

      Overflow is not known of causing sensor failure! Age caused deterioration, corrosion or sediment buildup, electrical or wiring related problems and contaminated coolant are known to cause sensor failure.

    I have a question. I live here in Philippines, my car always stays in 104 C when its traffic ( 2-3 hours a day). This means air and fuel ratio lean???

    • @TechandCars123
      @TechandCars123  2 месяца назад +1

      Could be! Lean combustion can cause engine overheating among other things! That is assuming the temperature gauge is working properly!

    Do I just bolt another one in or do I put some thread lock on as a sealant or ptfe tape.
    Or does the new one go in as is?

      Just torque it to spec

      New sensors typically have sealant pre-applied. Otherwise use tefon or pipe dope.

      Test the ECT sensor. Remove it and clean it. Use an ohm meter to read the resistance. Then, get a hair dryer and add heat to it. The resistance should start dropping. If it doesn't, replace it.

      You used a 'TAP'? The threads on these are commonly NPT. Pipe threading.

    • @SerenoOunce
      @SerenoOunce Месяц назад +1

      That's very vehicle specific. Depends on how "smart" the ECU is. Best to ask in a forum specific to your vehicle.
