    I'm middle-aged and have no problem with letting my locs gray. I'm interested in healthier hair and I don't feel like dyeing my hair all the time. Plus I've seen some sisters from their 30's and beyond with natural silver, white, gray hair who are fierce and inspiring.
    I'm so glad, Damian, that you made the point that spritzing your hair with water doesn't moisturize your hair. I did that for awhile and all I had was locs that felt like a haystack, which means they would break eventually.

    I had locs from 2008 through 2015, but I had to cut them off a few months ago. I now understand that I had been using an inappropriate regimen. They were too heavy/long (about mid-thigh) and I had difficulty getting them dry. I also was using a loc gel/wax combo, which was resulting in residue. I wish I had consulted Damian! It has been 7 months since I cut them out, but I miss them so much! I am going to go back, better educated, so that I can go forward the right way!

    I love the keep it simple approach to healthy growing hair. These hair care trends (co-wash, water wash, etc.) just never bad sense to me. I stupidly did co-washing and my hair shed a lot. I had to abandon it a long time ago because it probably choked my scalp.

    • @sheisawarenow3753
      @sheisawarenow3753 7 лет назад +1

      curliefro, I absolutely agree...I tried it for a while....my hair was shedding like crazy too...stopped doing that to my hair....started taking Damien's advice, relative to healthy hair products....protein treatments once a month....girrllll, my hair is fuller, thicker, longer, and softer, which the soft part shocked me, but his hair spray works!!! The Doo-Grow (blue cream), Wild Growth Oil, the Serum, Argan Oil Cream, and I mix all those with Jojoba oil in my little spray bottle with distilled water, and lightly spray throughout my hair about 3X's a week...shampoo & condition once a week, using the Sally's store brand, Silk Elements, moisturizing products. Hey, this works for me, but we all have to find out what works for us individually. I'm between a 3C and 4A. Yeah, lol!! The Co-washing doesn't work for me. ✨

    I really love how he can drop knowledge on hair and you can tell he is passionate about what he does. However, I cringed every time he called his client "bitch", and talking about other clients. It's unprofessional in MY opinion.

    • @rodneycolejr.4989
      @rodneycolejr.4989 7 лет назад +4

      i think he talks about other more as a scare tactic as opposed to being messy. think about how smart damien is? think about how he talks when he starts explaining about hair and products when he's in a calm voice. he sounds so profession and educated about what he's saying so i think he does that for conversation but to keep the clients he's newly working on to stray away from the things hes saying. like saying "eww this girl had nasty hair one time that stunk" subconsciously your going to question how well you've taken care of your own. then, when he start in with " we had to wash 3x and condition a few times" then you'd be in tune to what he's saying, so you'll follow the proper things he said. its done as a tactic for you to ingrain the good he's saying. like if someone only told you of good experiences and never told you the negative, you may stem off to the negative without knowing it was bad cause no one ever told you it was bad. him calling the client "bitch" isn't professional but thats just based on his clientele and i think he knows when thats except-able and not. so i highly doubt he sais such offensive things to customers who don't know him or know his playful attitude.

    • @ablackgal
      @ablackgal 7 лет назад +14

      I understand what you guys are saying, but I was ONLY referring to him calling his clients "bitches". I know that a lot of stylists get comfortable with their clients, but TO ME that is not professional. Everything else such as his ways with words or sassiness did not bother me at all.

    • @cocodan6500
      @cocodan6500 7 лет назад +11

      rodney cole JR. ..He is good, but very messy.
      I think he talks about other hairstylists, to ensure that the client will stay with him.
      He knows clients will overlook his cussing,because he does good work.
      He needs to be humble with his talent and take the ego down a notch.
      What talent the Lord gives u, he can surely take it away.

    • @Ivrlan
      @Ivrlan 7 лет назад +19

      HoneyBabe
      If another stylist messed up their clients hair and they came to him. Then he has every right to his opinion. I'm not seeing where he's being messy talking about another stylist botched job when he's the one correcting it.

      @ablackgal 7 лет назад +8

    The lady with the breakage.. possible damage from lifting but failing to use protein treatments. lifted hair is very damaged and has high porosity. Without protein treatments it cannot hold products or moisture.
    Lifted color is a chemical process and once used the hair is no longer natural in wither texture or composition.
    once lifted cer r a in things must be done to protect the hair or it will fall and break. It looked like her hair had been double processed in certain areas also. She should have ONLY a professional dye and treat her hair to prevent damage.

    Hi Damian I have been natural for about 3 years and have been think bout getting my hair loc's because I was not take because I was burning my hair off. In the last 3 to 4 I have been washing my hair and conditioning it . So know I have made up my mind to get my hair loc scenes I been listen to you I have been asking my hair stylist about different products like what is thi beeswax and this other stuff people talking about just to see what she would say. Then I told her how I been listening to you and I don't want to go through any problems with my hair break off so iam asking you what products should I be using to keep my hair hydrated, and moisture so that I will have nice loc's. she told me I should use a light oil to my scout because I have dryness which is true and she recommend that I use suffer free products in my hair in my hair I told her I want my hair hydrated and I want to use products that have proteins and vitamins so that my loc's will look healthy. So once again please tell me what the products I should be using to have heathy hair because I don't want to hurt someone for mess up up my hair and I am bald because she will be to when finished shaving her head off. Please help in buying the right products for my hair. Your new fan. Ps I love the way you just speak your mind and let the people know what's wrong and what's right. I thank you again.

    Are you just commenting on locs or all natural hair?

    this guy is very sympatic, but i dont share his ideas. he always talks about products that you have to put in your dreads, he always talks about protein. yes the hair needs protein, but protein from inside, the hair doesnt take the protein that you put on your locs. the best way for dreads is: wash them, dont put products in them and dont twist them too much and too tight. google dreads and alopecia and how does it comes to alopecia, you will find that putting a lot of products in your hair und twisting them often and tight is the point, but this guy will never tell you something like this, because he makes his money with retwisting and selling products.

    that teeny comb and all the product the goes at the road before pulling and twisting is hard to watch....hair stress
    he is right about poor choice of products but then seems to go against that.
    I dont understand. Less is more right? Healthy lifestyle and know ur hair.
