@Move_I_Got_This it was innovative. At the time, Drew Barrymore it was the most famous person in the cast. Neve Campbell and the other characters weren’t really that known, other than Courteney Cox. And Drew Barrymore came up with the idea to kill her self off in the very beginning, to create the atmosphere that nobody is safe if the person you think he’s going to be the main character gets killed right at the beginning like that. She recently told Jamie Lee Curtis (best scream Queen of all time) that Jaime‘s mother Janet Leigh dying towards the beginning of the movie Psycho inspired Drew to come up with that idea.

Scream (1996) has aged brilliantly and it will continue to do so. It's a ground breaker in horror especially for mid 90s American time. Ghostface is a simple outfit with a mask, but it's very scary with a knife. The pace of the film is great and the audience had no clue who the killer's were right until the end. I had high hopes going into this. Unfortunately, and for the first time with you guys, I was left very disappointed. As others have said before me the fact you had watched Scary Movie ruined this for you guys. I’d say Viki saying it’s more parody then Scary Movie made this clear. Others are recommending you to watch the rest of the franchise, I personally hope you don’t. I reserved judgement after watching your full movie reaction on Patreon last month but feel exactly the same after watching this. As Viki said at the end this was not her movie. I’ll echo in saying this was not my reaction. Thank You Anyway Ellie, Larry, Lia & Viki.
And often when you get a group of reactors they tend to be more cocky and irreverent and want to make fun of a movie more then buying into it. Usually the Homies aren't liked that so much, but they sure were in this case.
1000% agreed. As a diehard scream fan I was excited to see them watch this and to see how blaze they were about most of it was surprising but not really seeing as they rushed to watch scary movie. Too many reactors want to be up on the algorithm so they watch whatever is popular and not do research. Thus a reaction that misses the mark completely. No one is obligated to like the movie but their reasoning was clouded and subpar. I hope they leave the franchise alone and go watch the conjuring or something
Same here. I was honestly getting really annoyed with most of them. Thinking the whole thing was a parody or something. I know part of it was because they made the mistake of watching Scary Movie first. But clearly they didn’t get it. Scream is a masterpiece to me. I know not everyone has to like what you like but damn. It was kind of insulting to Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson
The great thing about Scream was it was so self aware, in that it even though it is a serious subject it constantly refers to old Horror films and makes reference to the plot of them etc. It also spawned superb sequels, each one of them is great too and well worth a watch. You gotta do the sequels, the writing is just so clever. Sarah Michelle Gellar ( Buffy herself! ) is in Scream 2. Really top female actors in all the Scream films Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox (the constants), Drew Barrymore, Rose McGowan, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Heather Graham, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Rebecca Gayheart, Emily Mortimer, Emma Roberts, Hayden Pannettiere, Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, and they are just the one I can remember! The plots are just so clever you will love them.
It was clearly a mistake them watching that first when you saw their reaction to this. They said it was more parody than the parody, which it wasn't. It's not perfect and it has cheesy moments but there was too much laughter at the end. Most other people who react to this movie take it seriously, but those people probably didn't watch Scary Movie first.
@@tommymcdonald8351 Did Scary Movie parody The Conjuring? Scary Movie not only parodied Scream it spoiled scenes which is a big issue. They knew where scenes were going because of Scary Movie. Scream 2 is also a fine watch as is Bodies Bodies Bodies which is Gen Y aware. I’d love you guys to watch Hereditary or The Thing- keep up the good work 😊
SCREAM is a satire of scary movies of the past. During this time the horror genre was literally DEAD. SCREAM revitalized the horror genre of horror slasher movies by having the characters/story lines very self-aware. So yeah, there were comedic/funny moments..but not all the time. They still have that element of mystery, suspense, thrill, and jump scares. They kept us guessing until the very end on who is this killer. It was very refreshing and fun at the time and I think it still holds true until now. I wished you guys saw the original movie first before the parody aka SCARY MOVIE. But that can’t be helped.. 😅 If you want to talk about parody, that’s what SCARY MOVIE did..those are parodies. Satire and Parodies are two totally different things.

Haha one of my favorites. A horror movie that made fun of horror movies. Kudos to Viki for catching that. I think this is the first movie that you all have watched that showed the genius of Matthew Lillard (played Stu) as well.
Wes Craven was the director of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, hence Billy looking like Johnny Depp and there were a lot of Elm Street references in the movie, including a Wes Craven cameo as the janitor dressed as the character Freddy Krueger. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it for a reaction.
These people obviously don't have English as their first language. They seem totally unaware that the movie uses irony and self-awareness - it's not a parody. They seem to miss half of the dialogue. They miss central plot points like the fact that Billy killed her mom. Every single pop culture reference goes over their heads.
Billy and Stu also broke the unspoken rule of horror movies: don’t use or manipulate the rules to your own advantage, especially when you’re the killer. Billy broke that rule by taking Sindey’s virginity. When you have sex in a horror movie, you die. They knew that, and planned to kill her, so they in turn broke the rules themselves
It’s probably because they’re Europeans and didn’t grow up with much knowledge on these kinds of films. To them, these are foreign American popular films, so when they’re voting on which movie to react to they don’t have any awareness that these films are related. They didn’t grow up with the fandoms either. They’re out of the bubble.

Fun fac,t it´s that Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox) were married and had one daughter after this. Since 2012 they´re not together but they initiated that relationship. You can see the chemistry.
Its funny that you said the lead guy looks like Johnny Depp, because ironically, the director (Wes Craven) casted Johnny as the lead in Johnny's first ever film, A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The reason they did that was to try to make their case as a victim of the killer believable. They were going to make the final 2 kills look like a murder suicide setting up the father for their crimes while making it look like they had survived the injuries the father supposedly had inflicted on them.
The Scream franchise is the best horror franchise ever, you guys ruined it by watching the parody first and talking too much while watching the movie you missed a lot of things

I hope they leave the franchise alone and go watch the conjuring or something
you are right, im so mad because this is a masterpiece and they were laughing all movie, specially the annoying guy on the left, im so dissapointed.
Fun movie, great for this time of year. Shame you watched these in the wrong order. Good rule of thumb, watch the original then the parody
Scream is a really solid horror movie it’s not a parody whatsoever
exactly they lost there minds because the first hour they were very scared by the movie
It's gonna be hard to take this movie serious after watching Scary Movie
It was clearly a mistake them watching that first when you saw their reaction to this. They said it was more parody than the parody, which it wasn't. It's not perfect and it has cheesy moments but there was too much laughter at the end. Most other people who react to this movie take it seriously, but those people probably didn't watch Scary Movie first.
But they think the Conjuring movies are scary they’re opinion on anything they take serious or not doesn’t matter
@@tommymcdonald8351 Did Scary Movie parody The Conjuring? Scary Movie not only parodied Scream it spoiled scenes which is a big issue. They knew where scenes were going because of Scary Movie. You can see in the reaction how bad Scary Movie ruined the experience for them with how many times they bring it up. Watching Scary Movie first is a bad move especially for a reaction channel.
@@ThEmB0nEz Well no but it’s just the fact they think the conjuring movie is scary in anyway Kinda ruins the credibility on what is scary or a good movie
5 seconds later when Ghostface appears: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
You need to see the rest of the series it’s seriously one of the best franchises ever
You say Billy looks weird, but in 1996, that was the Hot Guy look.
Watching scary movie before Scream kinda ruins it.
Ellie calling Courtney Cox aka Gale Weathers Monica from FRIENDS 😂😂😂😂😂
Monica Geller with the wig of Rachel Green lol
This was somewhat annoying. Why on earth would you watch “Scary Movie” before “Scream”? Poor decision.
Ah I’m gutted you guys saw scary movie before this film.
This film is a social commentary on the 90s youth culture and self aware of previous horrors ‘Randy’ is the audience. The film is actually a masterpiece whilst Scary Movie is a mess- this is somewhat diluted for you guys because you know what’s happening. Scream 2 is also a fine watch as is Bodies Bodies Bodies which is Gen Y aware.
I’d love you guys to watch Hereditary or The Thing- keep up the good work 😊
The best Wes Craven movie since the Nightmare on Elm Street Franchise. This was a start to a new horror franchise.
yes they are even both masterpiece nightmare and scream
No way are they dissing this movie but they’re hyping up the Conjuring 2 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I know watching Scary Movie spoils it a little but it's funny that they absolutely fixated on Dewey as a result.
You should´ve watched both Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer before watching Scary Movie LOL
If you want to talk about parody, that’s what SCARY MOVIE did..those are parodies.
Satire and Parodies are two totally different things.
What's with that 2nd girl on the right calling it a parody the whole time, she is annoying with her reaction towards their reaction movies lately.
yeah well, they saw the parody before this one hence why she can't take it seriously.
@@SaRENRampaiger True, but the tone of this movie is serious at most parts, she always tries to make it funny somehow, bit annoying.
@@anouar3194 yeah that also annoyed me and that she said at the end that this movie is more a parody than Scary Movie shows that she didnt really watch(understand) the movie. The tone is in most parts very serious and isnt comparable to a parody at all
@@anouar3194 I hate their patreon updates.. Always re-runs re-watches of drama comedy movies. Someone needs to spam the votes of horror polls,
@@coolertyp4643 yeah to be honest it ruined the reaction for me.
not a fan of this reaction miss alot of points n miss alot of how good this movie was in its day.. I don't know if they should continue with the rest of the scream sequels if they just going to make fun of it
Haha one of my favorites.
42:31 FACTS: that the guy who play as Shaggy from Scooby Doo cartoon and two live action Scooby-Doo movies
These people obviously don't have English as their first language. They seem totally unaware that the movie uses irony and self-awareness - it's not a parody. They seem to miss half of the dialogue. They miss central plot points like the fact that Billy killed her mom. Every single pop culture reference goes over their heads.
They're from Bulgaria.
Y’all have to watch all the scream movies.
No why would they watch scary movie before Scream 😭 it gives away the killers and it parodies a lot of the serious moments
This reaction is so disrespectul to Scream, one of the best slashers in ‘90s.
Billy wasn't a virgin before Sidney. Scream 5 has proven that
@@adamclifton29 I didn’t say otherwise. I said Billy took Sidney’s virginity.
@@adamclifton29 we know that. It’s pretty obvious.
Why would you watch scary movie before scream.....?
It’s probably because they’re Europeans and didn’t grow up with much knowledge on these kinds of films. To them, these are foreign American popular films, so when they’re voting on which movie to react to they don’t have any awareness that these films are related. They didn’t grow up with the fandoms either. They’re out of the bubble.
@@user-tk4gr9zo7t All these movies were just as big in Europe as they were in the US. You have no idea what you're talking about.
@Theebec1 No they weren't.
scary movie did spoil you to this masterpiece
Ever since I first saw this movie, every time I say I'll be right back, I then say unless this is a horror movie, then you're on your own, lol
0:51 Scream was the main movie in Scary Movie but the secondary movie after Scream is the movie I Know What You Did Last Summer(1997) check out this movie.
Is interesting why sidney is running upstairs in the second chase she should have gone outside don't lock the door. Such a classic
The ending of Scary Movie is not in reference to Scream. While Scary Movie borrows a lot from Scream, the ending borrows from The Usual Suspects.
You should add The Usual Suspects to your list of movies to watch.
Watching Scary movie before seeing Scream is like Watching the repossessed before seeing the exorcist. Makes no sense.
or watching Doctor Sleep before The Shinning
@@ThEmB0nEzthat’s more of a case of watching the sequel before the original
Drew Barrymore, s family has been acting since Shakespeare.
i didn''t understand you guys until 1H10 minutes you are very scared by the movie and then you tell this is a parody no yes there is humor but a very real humor in the history of cinema scream is a masterpiece in the definitIve list of 25 of the best scary movie of all a time he is in it and the acting is so outstanding.
You guys should check out The Craft (1996) it has a lot of the same actors and would be a great Halloween movie to react to!
Two is not a lot.
2 of the main and most important characters…
Larry def got my sense of humor because I was laughing at mad of the same scenes growing up 🤣
Do all 5 scream movies.. Even if it's not Halloween season, do it all.
so they cant make fun of those? no thanks,
WHY DID YOU WATCH "Scary Movie" FIRST????? What the hell?? WHo told you to do that, you just ruined this reaction because of it, it's spoiled for you
Fun fac,t it´s that Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox) were married and had one daughter after this. Since 2012 they´re not together but they initiated that relationship. You can see the chemistry.
7:15 Ellie had the movie figured out in the first scene
Its funny that you said the lead guy looks like Johnny Depp, because ironically, the director (Wes Craven) casted Johnny as the lead in Johnny's first ever film, A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Yes! please do Scream 2 , 3 ,4 and 2022!
So if you already watched scary movie the parody you watching this in reverse 🤷🏻♂️
This was a satire on horror movies, directed by Wes Craven, of A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Hills Have Eyes fame
The reason they did that was to try to make their case as a victim of the killer believable. They were going to make the final 2 kills look like a murder suicide setting up the father for their crimes while making it look like they had survived the injuries the father supposedly had inflicted on them.
The girl in black t-shirt looks like GAL GADOT😍😍 I loved the reaction, guys...I love All movies from scream❤️
The Scream franchise is the best horror franchise ever, you guys ruined it by watching the parody first and talking too much while watching the movie you missed a lot of things
It was shocking when I first watched this. Because *Drew Barrymore* was the most famous actress in the movie.
But they killed her off so quickly. Nobody, not even me, expected her to die so quickly. It was so unexpected.
Oooh arguably my favourite horror film of all time
Is it a horror? I always thought of it as a self aware comedy.
@@happyapple4269 well its classed a a slasher horror but is also a black comedy. I think scary movie made it a bit funnier
This is not first time that I watched it by myself
I absolutely love how they use the halloween score to score ther own movie lool (when Randy answers the fone call about the principle Henry) smart use of music!
Hope you react to the rest of the Scream movies too.
Have the Homies watched Halloween yet 1978? That would be fun
Idk they might think it’s a “parody” 🙄
100% watched these movies out of order
Please watch the rest of the scream movies they are so groundbreaking
@marklynn5899 good for you
33:15 So maybe it’s a good idea that we don’t let Ellie play matchmaker.
"just...jump over it". Bro is my spirit animal. Best comment I've ever seen
is not a comedy, i hate the guy on the left, why he was laughing all the movie?
They don't get it? Wait what?!
So sad you watched the parody earlier:(((((((
You guys gotta watch the Friday the 13th franchise and Nightmare on Elm Street franchise
The another movie that Scary Movie 2000 was also spoofing is "I Know What You Did Last Summer!"
Great watch! Awesome editing, wish u left in "Pier Precure" kekek. Loved it!
great reaction lol thats the part of scream that was intentional it makes fun of horror movie cliches. love this film so much!
Viki and Lia really lived up to the name of the movie 😂 Screaming their heads off
