You should've watched Scream first since Scary Movie is a parody of that movie. Scream is in turn a satire of the slasher genre with plenty of humor as well but much more subdued. On the other hand, you could watch Scream and compare the scenes since Scary Movie contains MANY scenes that are direct parody versions of those in Scream. :)
