    As an American from the South, I can honestly say that the most accurate part of this movie is that we will sit next to a complete stranger and end up telling our life story. I've done it to two people in the past month, and it's happened to me at least five times.

    According to Tom Hanks, Forrest’s speech was as follows:
    “Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that.”

    You cut out arguably the best/sweetest line, where Forrest says (about his son, when first meeting him), "Is his smart or is he like..." and points to himself. He's immediately concerned for his child and wants him to be as smart as possible, which in the end absolutely doesn't matter if he's even half the kind, genuine, honest man his father is.

      It’s one of the rare moments Forrest lets on that he is self aware and just how painful it is and how aware he is of his struggles. It’s a testament to his mother’s love in how she taught and raised him, it’s a testament of his pureness and determination, his perseverance that he doesn’t let it appear to bother him, rather he chooses to press forward. But in the moment when it crossed his mind that someone else might have to go through life and experience the hardship that he has, it stung in the worst way.

    Gosh girls, had me all emotional. As a single dad of 3 amazing daughters, losing my mom recently to cancer and going through some pre-court stuff fighting for custody of my daughters I’ve come to realize life has its ups and downs , truly but if you step back as rough as it is, there’s beauty in your life and an unknown happiness ahead. Life’s been rough lately but I’d do every bit of rough over a million times to have an extra day with my daughters, they’re the light in my life regardless of what happens they always light my way with Love. ❤️❤️❤️ missing them like crazy tonight so Thankyou for the happy video. 💜

      As you get older those words seem to be very real and true...when you are only a 12 years old when this movie came out in 1993...even as a kid you loved this classic movie, but at that young tender age those words just don't compute or process at that young age until you hit 40.
      Then you realize his momma was telling the truth...Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what your gonna get....life goes on ends and flows and people around seem to die or disappear and your world goes into different journeys.
      Those words can't be more profound and real as you get older.
      When you watch the Movie as an adult those words hit harder and you realize she is right....My mom passed away in 2019 and my childhood bestfriend recently passed away, I'm going through an array of emotions and grief I never thought I would ever experience as a young innocent child.
      I've lost meny family members, friends, as life went on...then you realize what crazy ride my life has been so far...so much ups and downs, extraordinary experiences, fun parting, and celebrations, and tragedy, heartaches, love, happiness, so much life valles.
      It's the circle of life.
      So her words are really true.

    The reason for Jenny always leaving, wasn't because of her lack of loving Forrest, but because she loved hom so much. Because of her traumatic growing up with her father, she probably felt she never deserved Forrest's love and thought she would just disappoint him. Her trauma would also explain her doing drugs and searching/traveling for something and not realizing the answer was Forrest.

    I don't know if you know the context or not, but when Jenny was saying that her virus was "unknown", it was intended to imply that she died of Aids. Back in that time frame, for a long time, it was an unknown virus and it was unknown how to treat for it.

    • @truthseeker9249
      @truthseeker9249 2 года назад

      Actually the director confirmed that she died of Hepatitis C. And back then they didn't know what it was and couldn't treat it like they can now.

    • @sergeantbigmac
      @sergeantbigmac 2 года назад

      Like the other commenter said, she actually had Hep C as confirmed by the author. Which would make sense because of the lifestyle she participated in dirty needles and all, and the fact that the disease can lie dormant for a while then rapidly onset and wreak havoc on a persons body. At the time it was just as deadly as AIDS and frankly not talked about enough.
      But its intentionally kept vague so that the viewer can infer for themselves, the whole film is made to be both a fleshed-out story and a symbolic relatable metaphor to an entire generation's experiences

    • @aj_aka_alan

    It seems so hard for people to understand Jenny but she was a broken soul and was not someone who could love completely and with commitment while dealing with her demons of sexual abuse and neglect; as a survivor of sexual abuse myself I know for a fact it can take years...a lifetime even to deal with it. Some people can find peace and heal and there are some who never find that peace. Child abuse in all forms including sexual abuse cripples a person and is an unseen handicap for most people. The way Jenny handled things with Forest is not surprising but pretty text book behavior for someone who endured a child hood she did. In the end she did come home and did ask Forrest to forgive her for her behavior its just so sad they didn't have enough time to live out their lives together. Millionaire back then, is billionaire now.
    Remember that the next time you see the scene where the guy questions whether he's the owner of Bubba Gump shrimp co. at all, and laughable says "we were sitting next to a millionaire".
    It might not be as impressive to newer viewers, but it's like sitting down and Bill Gates is next to you.

    I vote this the best of all Forrest Gump reaction videos. You are so empathetic and don't judge Jenny for acting the way she does, but are happy for her that she ultimately lived a happy, if short, life with Forrest.
    By the way, I think that the last time Jenny left Forrest, she decided to change her life. That's why she didn't contact him immediately and say that she was pregnant by him. She wanted to master her life herself.

    People never seem to understand Jenny, she left Forrest because she thought she was useless and would bring him down . She felt like she wasn't good enough for anyone to love and it wasn't until she had little Forrest that she found some measure of self worth and allowed herself to love without expecting the worse.
    EDIT: I can see by many of the responses that many have no idea what PTSD does to a person . It strips away your feeling self worth, makes you question why you deserve anything, why you are even here, why someone would ever really want to love you. It makes you run from everything until you find a way to face it. BTW there were very very few resources to help someone like Jenny in the 70's, unlike today. Jenny's PTSD started as a child and that is even harder to overcome. PTSD is no joke and is so much more than most people actually realize.....

    The irony of the bullying was that without it Forrest would not have sat with Jenny or realized his ability to run. These two events changed his destiny and he became more than just a village idiot. He became a hero.
