The classic Hasselblad square has defined the essence of photography as an art! Great images from Miranda Barnes; these are classics! Hasselblad needs to revive the 500 square + ZEISS. Nothing compares.
Sorry, that will be impossible,
because China is in charge now.
This little Hasselblad moment was woderful because you yourself are wonderful! Know what else? I appreciate that you took a moment to mention the photographers who inspire you. Nobody does that but you did! Did I mention you are wonderful and that YOU inspire this 65 year old photographer? Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful young lady with a great career ahead of her. I am a retired homicide investigator and almost all the photos I took were related to my career. Creative photographers like you have inspired me to become a "creative" photographer. Saving my money for a Hasselblad system. Thank you and follow your dream...
Love this! Keep up the good work young lady, you'll go far!
Awesome works... and really appreciate her genuine love for Hasselblad and film photography
Miranda, thanks for sharing your experience and passion for creating amazing images!
Bought my first 500 c/m 2 weeks ago, sold it........ because I then gained a mint (unused) 500 c/m Black and could not be happier. The 6 rolls of 120 I ran through the older one was a genuine pleasure and has generated interested from most of the photographers in my camera club. The V series are a wonder to behold, hold and use. A mechanical masterpiece. Something the Hasselblad company should be very very proud of, even in this digital world.
Awesome interview I am so glad to see Hasselblad do a video of women of color
agreed
White is a color too... You missed all the white women.
@@MIZRAIM1906 There’s always one of you creatures in the comments.
@@iescapedALR Yeah... One that challenges the status quo. Damn those truth speakers... Speaking the truth again...
Very nice video, I watched several times and each time I love more about the Hasselblad 500CM. It is my most favorite camera. Thank you very much!
500 CM is my all time favourite camera
All I can say is Dope my sister 🙏📷🙏!!! your truly an inspiration, to all of us black photographer's!!! Film is back and here to stay!! I shoot a Nikon N60 film camera, and the colors are amazing!!! I love the Hasselblad!!!
Glad I found this video. It’s my favorite camera. Own a few of them.
Seeing you sitting on the window sill is like a picture itself !!! Beautiful work.
Great piece to camera. Lovely to see the younger generation keeping film alive x
My favorite camera right here.
Love your imagery. A big investment in a great camera!
Beautiful imagery.
Wonderful, this made my day. My entire wedding was shot with that camera back in '99 -- simply magical images. Best wishes for a phenomenal photography career.
Hasselblad is amazing!
Love this and love your work and the passion you have for it.
Congratulations on your Fellowship! I recommend "The Learning Tree" by Gordon Parks, LIFE magazine's first Black staff photographer. I was moved by his work, especially his sophisticated, insightful world view. (I became a photographer, and spokesperson for VHAB.)
Excellent and I wish her the best!
Film is addictive. We are so used to get instant gratification from digital, so having to use film is something else. There are reasons Fuji and expert photographers are making many film simulations, its because film look is different.
Great video, great photographer and great camera.
What a delightful young lady! Good luck following your dreams.
I had the Hasselblad 500 C/M camera, but I got tird of the blackened top view in the finder when using a macro or tele lens, so I got the Hasselblad 2000 FC camera and l got the lenses Zeiss Distagon 50mm 2.8, Zeiss Planar 110mm 2.0, Zeiss Tele-Tessar 350mm 4.0 and Zeiss Mutar 2X, a great set of lenses, I can very highly recommend these 3 Hasselblad F-lenses plus the 2X ! For the 500 C/M camera I had the Zeiss Macro-Planar 120mm 4.0 and the Zeiss Tele-Tessar 250mm 4.0, but the Zeiss Planar 110mm 2.0 with the Zeiss Mutar 2X was so good that I did not need the Zeiss Macro-Planar 120mm 4.0 and Zeiss Tele-Tessar lenses 250mm any more.
You’re an impressive young woman! All the best for the future! I’ll be watching out for your work.
Hey, is that an Olds F-85 @ 3:56 or so? Man, I've been looking to get one of those for ages, ever since my father bought one of the first ones made to take his biggest client for a ride on the streets of lower Manhattan. Unfortunately the aluminum block (Rover engine) warped and the car overheated. The client had to walk back to 50 Broad St. Anyway, I really did enjoy the video, shows you don't need a "street" camera to shoot on the, well, uh, street. :)
Awesome 🙌🏾
Perfect photos🔥🏆💪
Great to see young people of color getting recognized for their photography. Quil Lemons too.
Congrats Miranda, looking forward to seeing more of your work.
I love my Hasselblad !
I have a Hasselblad 2000FC/M and after I pressed the double exposure button and rewinded, then shot, the camera locked the mirror up and I couldn’t shoot anymore. Only if I press the double exposure and rewind, the mirror starts to release. But if I shoot, the same problem repeats.
Any chance you may know the answer?
Thank you!
Enjoyed the video. I am on the fence. Friend has a Hasselblad for sale. Do I want one for status? Or ease of use. I recently took one of my best medium format photos with a Yashica Mat 124. I also have a Mamiya c330. Now a Hassey? I may be giving the Yashica to a young High School Student.
The all black Hasselblad with black trim is really beautiful.
Cool camera👍
Good for you, Miranda!
I ❤ my 500C/M
Hermosa you.... An Hasselblad
Quick question 2:03 what does "documenting people that won't be in NY in the next years" and being a Caribbean-American person have to do with each other? Will there be no more Carribean people in NYC in the next years?
Nice
That was nice
I loved it ✔️😃
awesome good luck
Good luck, you look great.
Exellent.. Body. Black Hasselblad
hmm...she got it a year ago and got featured by hasselblad. I wonder where’s my feature 🤔 I got my 503cx two years ago and am a Brooklyn native lol
Grant 😂😂😂
Only applies if you are a cute young lady.
Come back when you have a Magnum Fellowship :)
Do you also do shoots for The New York Times, Vogue Magazine, and The New Yorker?
@@helgebrekke no, I think it's because I had my hasselblad longer than she did...
An you. Beautiful hermosa
I love Hasselblad but where the H6D lacks the basics it makes it impractical for me to use on a daily basis with absence of focus stacking, no ES within the camera and no option of the 150MP CMOS which leaves so many of us with no option but to use P1 instead. If only hasselblad could offer up to date technology offered by rival manufacturers I'd be happy to switch back but for the time being that remains a distant dream which is extremely disappointing.
That's Great ! Down on the streets !
I love my 501 CM
1:57 ZEBO!
I love the 500 and owned plenty, but we have to realized that this camera, wich was design to work on a tripod by victor to take bird pictures in nest, is not at all a street photographer camera.
Yes it’s cool to carry it , but this is a studio camera.
this is why you can change the back. This is why also there is no lightmeter because in studio we use spotmeter.
and more the zeiss need so much precision and is so long to adjust that in the street you will never be exactly focus....in fact, in using an hasselblad out of a tripod you will have blurry negative with nearly similar precision as a 35 mm....so useless .
if you want to make perfect precision, do like the pro, set your point, retract this uge mirror wich shake the camera and then shoot.
impossible in street.
same with the acccumate visor: more bright but not at all precise for the exact focus.
the standard old glass visor is more darker, less show off, but so much precise.
I recommend everybody on the street to test a leica M . It is design for that.
by the way new the hassy are far better than the 500 in the street.
each camera is design for something. I don’t get the comment about a black photographer...maybe I am out of this politicke statement. Gender, religion and skin color does not affect film, as far as I know.
Nice video
👍 👍
I just checked the prices for a hasselblade 6 000 EUROS 💶 wow that's a huge amount.
And what if someone says iPhone 12 Pro does provides similar quality ?
...du bist eine wunderschöne Frau!!! Und machst super Fotos...
🍒💣
You are an entusiast and I wish you the best. I toke nearly a million photos with 500 C/M, I own two and I am professional. Great camera and spectacular lenses! I just want to give you a suggestion: to shot with the Hassy hold the camera with your left hand at the bottom and push with the index finger. The right hand is free to charge and focus the lens ... and the weight is much more balanced. Kisses from Italy fron an oOOold photographer
Yes, I noticed the unorthodox way she was holding the camera. I don't think she can be all that familiar with it. Puzzling as an advert.
@@urbanimage This reminds me of how they're trying to show my boy the "right" way to hold his hand when writing, which as it happens is how my wife, whose handwriting is clear and beautiful, writes. I say whatever works for you, works for you, versus needing to adhere to the status quo in order to do it "correctly." She seems to be doing alright as it is :)
Thats crazy buying a Hassy in HS. I have job bills cars and cant afford one. lucky you
Nice video. However, may I please instruct you in the "official" method for hand holding the camera?
Grasp the camera with your LEFT hand, cradling it in your palm. Trip the shutter with your LEFT index finger, while your other three fingers simply grip the camera under the winder.
Your RIGHT hand is used for ALL lens functions, including focusing, setting exposure values (f-stop & shutter speeds), etc., and also manually winding the camera after each shot. Years ago, in bygone decades, Hasselblad provided this information in their brochures. It seems to have become a lost art. Good luck to you.
PS - I have owned and used Hasselblad cameras since 1972, and today own & use the new X1D.
or how about people hold their camera however the fuck they want?
@@Bongo2k Well, amateurs often hold the Hasselblad in the right hand, professionals in the left - thats it. If you ever worked with it, you definitly know what I mean.
@@Togis64 or it's whatever works for them lol.
How is the background not blown out? Wow
