- So Evo Japan 2024 is right around the corner, happening at the end of April the 27th through the 29th. Naturally, there will be world class competition and gameplay on site for every major stage game, no doubt about it. However Evo is also very much a marketing event as it is a tournament, and we can expect a lot of fighting game goodies so lets talk about what we know for sure, and whats likely to be shown, revealed, or announced as far as fighting games go!

Evo Japan season is right around the corner, and Evo is frankly just as much of a marketing event as it is a tournament so we can expect some pretty big news, reveals, announcements and all that heading into it, so this video exists to give you a heads up as to whats going on! There's quite a few videos that act as followups to whats said in this vid so make sure to check the video description for those and otherwise, start getting hype! You have no idea how sick I am of using that same 30 seconds of the Hunter x Hunter footage, if nothing else ill finally be able to use something else and thats gonna be great. I want to go to Evo Japan but I only got the budget to do one big event this year and Evo Prime in vegas is gonna be that. Very jealous of people who are gonna be able to play Tizoc in CoTW and the Completed Illaoi(she wasn't finished when we did the riot trip last year) in 2XKO on site.

Those models look…interesting, but I imagine the final game will have some pizazz to it. So excited to have a 3on3 HxH game considering how many cool characters could be playable
(And to be fair, making Togashi’s designs look good in 3D while being faithful to the source material is a harrowing task, I imagine)

Capcom might even reveal a full expansion rather than just another season of characters given how S1’s release flowed and the pandemic. Maybe even a secondary game of some kind that has more Marvel-ish gameplay (Mega Man FighterZ, Darkstalkers reboot, SvC Chaos 2…), or far less likely, even Marvel proper.

They have in fact confirmed that Beatrix will be playable at EVO Japan, at the Cygames booth. So not only is a trailer locked IN, but we'll get a lot of info on how she plays weeks before her release. Subject to change of course, but nonetheless

Virtua Fighter, man...I pray for the best of that game, from connection quality to weight-specific combos to a hopefully growing community. I hope to throw down sometime in that game!
I have big hopes for Virtua Fighter as new fighting games player who is disappointed in casual oriented Tekken 8

I just want some SNK news. Especially about the brand new AAA game they're developing, the CotW anime, the new ART OF FIGHTING game and the SAMSHO RPG game they hinted at an executives presentation by the end of last year.
Oh yeah and that Capcom collab they were interested in.

Thats what I call it, but the marketing team would never allow Evo vegas to sound strictly superior to evo japan lol. I can't name names but there's at least 2 marketing people I know of who have to refer to it as "Evo USA"

If a new crossover game did happen anytime soon, it might end up being closer to the Marvel/Tatsunoko games in terms of stuff like the roster selection and gameplay; rather than what 1 & 2 were like. This might even be preferable because of the market of today and that many hardcore fans want it to be exactly like CvS2 and cry foul at inaccuracies or even additions. SF6 assets are apparently incredibly time consuming/expensive to produce so even if it did play like 1&2 it wouldn’t look as stellar as SF6. I could see a non-Marvel-styled CvS working, but it would have to be a low budget game (possibly even freemium) targeted at hardcore fans only, which is to say they’d probably go with guests in KoFXV/CoTW and a Marvel-styled crossover of some sort, whether SNK is the actual guest of honor or if it’s all-Capcom and SNK is simply a DLC partner inclusion (possibly one of many).
Definitely excited for a new Virtua Fighter but also really hoping it gets some great new characters. The only one who ever really appealed to me was Goh.

SF6 wise, I think the release date for Akuma is pretty much a given, but I think season 2 will get its announcement on the anniversary of the game's release.
From what FK Digital tweeted a few weeks ago, there's a non-zero chance we might finally get some more news on Chaos Code Next as well. It could also just be a Chaos Code tourney, but fingers crossed

It's interesting to see how different characters play in GBVS Rising vs Relink. But it makes sense: one is a 2D fighter and the other is an action rpg. Vane was a launch character for Relink so it's cool to see him in the fighting game.

Here are my predictions for EVO Japan 2024 announcements:
Street Fighter 6 - Akuma gameplay trailer and Season 2 info (here is hoping for Sagat to be in Season 2)
Tekken 8 - Summer DLC character teaser (here is hoping for Fahkumram)
Guilty Gear Strive: Gameplay trailer for the final Season 3 character (we all know it's Slayer)
More trailers and info for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (here is hoping for more newcomers)
If we are lucky, a big reveal of a brand new Virtua Fighter (it's been long overdue for Virtua Fighter to make a big comeback)

I've been so impatient waiting for Nen Impact its insane. I'm going to analyze every second of every bit of gameplay that gets put out by either the devs or phone recordings of the demo setup they have
considering that both 6 and 3rd Strike will have tournaments at EVO Japan. Capcom could officially reveal Rockman Taisen at long last at EVO Japan.
Slayer and a tease for Season 4(Ragna or Bily Lee will be amazing for that) are likely for Strive.
Anna Williams could very likely be announced, alongside a tease for Michelle Chang and Johnny Cage. perhaps a tease about Soulcalibur VII aswell.
KoF XV is almost efinitely finished. CoTW is SNK's focus at the moment.
Nex Impact and Virtua Fighter 6 will have big showcases at EVO Japan.
kinda surprised 2XKO will have a playable build at EVO Japan, maybe some hints about MultiVersus and the Avatar figthing game aren't out of the question after all.
As for XV, I could see them take the lazy route and port over stuff from XIV, SamSho, & SNK Heroines to tide people over and pad out the roster.

While Ed's rework is awesome, I can't help but feel that one of the reasons he's on top of the usage charts right now is that people were *starved* for new content. Let's hope Year 2 or Super SF6 or whatever they end up calling it has better pacing with the release of DLC.

Apparently 2XKO will be a free to play fighting game and honestly that scares the hell out of me. There aren't that many like it to compare to for my reasons to be justified though. I am interested to see Both Fatal Fury's comeback and if 2XKO will be a top fighting game.
Ooh! My friend got me into HXH after years of much insistence, I'm one season away from finishing. It's really good but also really strange, like nothing else I've watched. It does a bunch of things that shouldn't work but somehow all of it does? I like it a lot!

You forgot to mention DNF Duel final DLC character has the potential of being announced at EVO Japan.
KOFXV Season 3 may not happen. I don't think/know that SNK has a big enough team to work on both KOFXV and Fatal Fury:CotF at the same time.
XV S3 could easily be made with a bunch of ported characters from their other games, maybe something big like a guest as the pack seller.
@austinreed7343 the only other game they can port from is XIV. Other then Mature and Vice not sure who else SNK can bring over from XIV that isn't in XV that is relevant.

Fighting games are so back. Discord makes it easier for the more small titles to have a community grow under its brand. This is a great time to be a fighting game fan. But anime games will always make me wary lol

Speaking of consuming the source material to get warmed up for the game, I actually played the first One Piece arena fighter on PlayStation in my childhood friend's home before I ever read the manga or watched the anime. Catching up with One Piece in 2024 would be quite a task.

I think that out of all the main shounen anime you'd like HxH the most; especially the Chimera Ant arc. They not only have a guy who smokes a ginormous pipe, but also a talking BEAN!!

They're focusing on Fatal Fury at the moment, but that doesn't mean KOF XV won't be fine. Priorities.
HxH is a great show. Someone else said it has a lot of filler, I don't see it. The anime trims a lot of the fat and has everything at a great pace.

Ive never watched hunterxhunter but i def enjoyed they green pants guy in jumpforce so i def be up for trying the game out. As long as the characters are interesting i def could try the show. The last animes that i really loved was the marvel ones if tou havent seen them do it asap blade, wolverine, and xmen were amazing. The iron man 1 was good but not on the sa mlm e level as the others but that could be my ironman biases
