No. Engine is similar to those of other brands in its class. But those other brands also offer a Turbo option on their 4-cylinder engines. The Sentra has no Turbo option. I honestly don't mind a CVT trans. But it's from Jatco. The absolutely least reliable one out there. Quite frankly, failure prone. Currently driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra SV as a rental car. Overall, quite good as a daily driver. Far from being a Penalty Box of a compact. But I know its CVT is likely to blow out one day in the future. As a rental, I can take that risk for the eight days my car is in the shop. But as a daily driver for years upon years, sorry but no.

Why did the demand for Sentra been dropped? Lately I'm seeing more civics than Sentra. Sentra was good in 2015 or so, then slowly the Honda took over the crown.
Though I can admit the car is stylish and provides great fuel economy, reliability is also something to consider with Nissan. I previously owned a rouge with a failed CVT at 80k miles. Great review as always. Best review team around. I thought the fact you can’t get led taillights in 2022 was the killer and then we got to the CVT. So sluggish and loud. If we stop buying these they will stop trying to sell this lack of excitement to this. There is so many better options out there that might cost a bit more but you will want to drive it. Hop out of this and get in a Mazda for example or other options. You will get!!
Enthusiast like you are a minority. Most person wants something that looks great, good gas mileage and get them from point A to B. The Sentra does that very well. Not everyone cares about driving excitement hence the reason Mazda sells way less cars than Nissan and Toyota that makes cars that don't give much excitement but are very practical and fuel efficient.
3 problems. No passion in deisgn. Looks like every other Nissan. Unreliable CVT. They will have to work for years to get rid of that stigma. And then it is a low impractical sedan with a trunk instead of open space and thus most people will buy the crossover. I guess it's cheap? Also I am impressed by the interior

That's an effect caused by the camera
Any manual mode for this?
Just choose corolla for better reliability
Lol....that sadly I agree
I just wish the car had an available larger engine line how the civic has the EX and the Forte has the GT
The previous gen had a nismo trim, unfortunately this new gen only has SR, the previous even had a SR Turbo, but ig they decided not to give the new sentra any real performance trim
Excellent review!😸
I have a 2018 Sentra and I loved it up to the CVT transmission going out. I mean, it drove great. It was smooth, quite, and it got good mpg. But that CVT transmission is a nightmare when they go out. More people need to demand Nissan to fix their CVT problems
My 2016 Sentra has 132,000 miles and the previous owners never did maintenance. My CVT is starting to display symptoms of wear etc and it’s annoying since a replacement is beyond me (First financed car)
Hoping a fluid change will at least help
Gotta replace that fluid at a minimum of 5k miles
@@rafahernandez9624 don't you mean 50k. That's what Nissan recommends and just found out
@@rafahernandez9624 You’re supposed to do it every 30,000 miles.
@@raiderfly manual says 60k
Id buy one however reliability (cvt) is where these cars start to slack and for that id go with a corolla, civic or used accord
I believe the Civic is a bit more stabled than this car. However, this is by far the best the Sentra has ever looked. All other Sentra’s are hideous.
I love the 2022 Nissan Sentra SR, I love the white and black roof, I enjoyed the bloopers, mason has a funny 😂! Mason is a good driver My ex boyfriend had a 1998 Nissan Sentra! I don’t like the CVT lol
Oh I wasn't aware that you're gay, I'm a gay man too!
@@braetonwilson4296 wow cool, I wish you had Instagram or Snapchat or Facebook so we could talk
@@braetonwilson4296
Aha....my suspicions about you are confirmed.
@@JulezWinnfield why did you have such suspicions? I'm curious lol.
@@braetonwilson4296
No suspicions at all. You've replied to several of my posts on either channels and your use of needlessly dramatic verbiage now makes sense. That said, I also respect a fellow car geek like myself. In fact, I'm sure we'd probably enjoy a good spirited automotive debate without me having to interject my heterosexuality into the conversation.
Hope it's not like the 2021 or 2020 we had one in our job and all of their cars always had problems. All their cars had less than 50k miles I have a 2017 Corolla with 71k and I have had no problems at all. Then again what do you expect from a company that's with Renault.
All it needs is the 1.5VCT
Boom 💥
NISSAN SENTRA SV AFFORDABLE AMAZING NISSAN SENTRA SV
I had 2002, engine passed away after millage 175k
I will just keep my Avalon 2011 with 300k mile
Honestly I rather get a Hyundai Elantra. The Sentra has a CVT transmission which is going to be annoying. Oh the base model Sentra has the small infotainment screen (2022 model) which is weird
Hyundai Elantra? Yuck 🤮. That car is so weird looking and ugly.
@@odnamorvr3053 eh don't judge by the looks. Interior is nice too.
@@mclarenspeedtail8988 Oh no! It's definitely the ugliest in its class. It's even uglier than the Corolla.
@@odnamorvr3053 😐
The Elantra has a CVT too right ?
14:23 did someone puke on the floor or what? Whats that yellow stuff incrusted in the car? lol
buying one this week...SR Premium, same color
How are you enjoying it so far?
How is it?
How much?
Just skip Nissan CVT completely lol.
10:03 background looks like video game
Looks Yes. Reliability -especially long term- Hell NO!
It sounds like a good deal however that CVT transmission does not have the greatest track record and they are extremely expensive when they go out!
I drove a Sentra with CVT, it felt underpowered and also handled like trash. No grip at all, in comparison my 2012 1.8l Chevy Cruze would eat the Sentra on corners and straight line, but my new 2.0 Civic would them both for sure.
Civic Rules. And Mazda3 :)
Better off buying Camry le hybrid probably the same price as this trim
Yeah, but you're driving a fucking Camry. Eww.
If this car comes in turbo m getting it
Great review as always.
Right to the point you can get a koala I wanna try a Mazda three and not be disappointed
Thanks, Trey!
99 percent of people will be fine with the CVT. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Always add price
eye damaging headlights fyi r not "upgrades".
3 problems. No passion in deisgn. Looks like every other Nissan.
Unreliable CVT. They will have to work for years to get rid of that stigma.
And then it is a low impractical sedan with a trunk instead of open space and thus most people will buy the crossover.
I guess it's cheap?
Also I am impressed by the interior
the 0-60 is funny cause the people near me that got these take off fast. im sure they gunning it but it takes off ok from what ive seen and like the look for a teen car its nice looking.
I would never buy a luxury car if i knew someone to pay that would pimp a sentra like this out.
Buy over the Civic or Corolla, maybe... but the best buy for me in the segment is the Forte GT for sure!
Forte LOL.
good information without creepy music.
how many can i expect to last before having transmission issues
Just trade it right before the 5 year warranty ends if you are nervous about it. Supposedly Nissan put a lot more work into their CVT due to the prior generation problems.
Slow. Looks good and fast but slow. It's good on gas
CVT Transmission no thanks
Absolutely not compelling versus the Civic.
In terms of the powertrain, but everything else from design to value, the Sentra knocks the Civic.
No because of cvt
Liking the new techno rave intro music.
Honda over nisssn
Could you say sr premium model just one more time
You might as well buy Versa over Sentra and $4000.
