Sept. 24, 2022----Remember reading somewhere (YT maybe?) that a sequel was planned, but for NYC. One thing for sure, this was a different and unique movie, something all too rare for Hollyweird.
It's always either New York City, or Los Angeles.
Still watch it every time I find it playing. I really should buy a DVD. 📀

This is one of the better alien invasion movies, I loved it. Frankly, if some aliens show up that can traverse intergalactic space, the battle will probably not even happen...they would simply destroy us without any direct fighting, or ignore us due to being so advanced, they are beyond needing "resources".
the only resource being needed would probably be sapient life then. That or destroy sapient life before its too late
If I remember correctly, the aliens in Battle LA are invading Earth as they were pushed off their homeworld due to war/disaster. That's why they're both desperate for resources on Earth and don't completely wipe us out. You can tell by how they act that they're used to war; they move in formations, help their wounded, and follow command structure.
@@QU4Dvideos The story I read is that the aliens invading are a subservient species to another race and that they're basically used to test combat capabilities of others or take on tasks the master race deems "beneath" them.
I love how the .50 cal absolutely eviscerates one of their infantry at 0:35. Despite possessing advanced technology they're just as vulnerable as humans in combat with no generic energy shields that aliens are generally portrayed with. The grounded elements really make this fun to watch.
Nice touch of detail at the one minute mark, an alien gets shot in the arm and acts wounded.
Also you see a couple of them dragging a wounded alien away.
Also (idr if it was this scene or not) they throw ammo to each other
Gotta give credit to the alien soldiers. They're in a completely different, alien (for them) ecosystem with most likely higher levels of gravity, without any incoming reinforcements and only marginally more powerful weapons compared to ours. And they're still pressing forward despite mounting casualties, fighting against us in our own turf.
Not effectively using cover though.

The problem with sequels is film makers tend to ruin them trying to one up their previous success. They usually are disappointing.

A very underrated film.
My only problem with this movie.... Marines are WAY better marksmen than that.. at that range they would have been putting 556 in joints more often and way sooner..
The aliens where much harder to kill them humans. They had to be hit in a certain spot,
just hitting them didn't even slow them down.
@@900stx7 But I also remember that there was a report on Marines getting so many head shots that Brass thought they were collecting and executing them. They are just that good. And to show them here, shooting like grade school children all willy nilly is just disappointing.

And if you think irl you are going to get accurate shots while being pinned down by a heavy alien weapon on top of small arms at a distance of roughly 100 meters and closing give me a break especially with adrenaline flowing through.
@@danielpickrell8311 I didn't say it would be easy... But I have a LOT of confidence in Marine training. Suppression, and co ordinated fire are not to be trifled with..

They weren't on the offensive the units goal was to find civilians and evac them out.

Those aliens are really bad fighters 😅
They come from a different planet with different strategies and tech. Infantry units are designed exclusively to fight infantry, specialist units shoot high explosive munitions and operate anti-tank vehicles, and aerial drones are the primary aerial fighting vehicle to support infantry. They also had Medic-type units that focused exclusively on retrieving dead or injured units for repair and restoration in the middle of battle, allowing even a grievously damaged one to be able to get back in with 100% combat strength.
That aside, they are pretty tanky and hard to kill, plus nimble in that they can quickly scale building walls to get to rooftops faster than a human being can.
One of the books about the movie said that Earth wasn’t the ideal planet for them to colonize, but they came out of desperation, fleeing something else that drove them from their own world. Makes you wonder what it was that could make these things run.
@@huydang5955 And yet, they can take heavy damage just from a few Earth soldiers. So they travel Only-God-knows how far (with technology beyond anything we can think of), to then engage in urban warfare ... against a planet with billions of inhabitants ... that obviously know how to inflict damage on them.

@@huydang5955 Those idiot aliens made war instead of allying with us using their tech as a bargaining chip. If they came to us and said *"we got some baddies on our ass, this is the only place we could stop, and you need to tool your factories with this RIGHT NOW or we're all doomed AF"* we probably would have geared up for what humans do best, combat.
They are still level 1 and haven't yet unlocked the specialisations like heavies. snipers and drone operators.
Hollywood is not capable of making this kind of movies anymore. So sad.

Ah I hate to say it but she was stuck in the turret ring because she didn't have enough upper body strength to pull herself out of it. A competent squad leader had to sacrifice himself because she couldn't do a pull up.

They had powerful aerial drones with high explosive cannons. The drones are many, and in adequate numbers to spare some as a sacrifice to protect some higher priority unit.
This was a small element meant to move fast get the civilians out.
