Great scope, I am sure I can’t shoot well enough to make real use of it. And damn, your office is clean, no dust bunnies in the wires or anything. Thanks for the good video.
Those Cobalts are tack drivers and you should have a great set up for hog hunting. Heck you could even bayonet them with the Cobalt muzzle brakes ! LOL.
X-RING i figured it would be heavy it will be on a polaris razr most of the time so i wasnt to worried abot weight.. i just hope its worth what i payed! 😬 have you shot them?
You won’t be sorry with nightforce, Vortex makes good stuff but NF is kinda the king. For now anyway. The vortex razor 1-6 is solid, I sold mine and bought a Kahles 1-6 and then ended up buying the ATACR. I do prefer the ATACR
So, I have ran NF for a many, many years. I have never had an issue with any of them. I also have a lot of Vortex, Kahles and Burris scopes. They have all been great. It is really hard to beat Vortex for the money and the warranty. Same goes for the Burris XTRIII. What I have found is that they all have their place depending on the needs of the user. For LPVO the razor 1-6 and 1-10 are phenomenal. I do not care for the NF LPVO. I owned the ATACR and the NXs 1-8 and I think the Vortex are better in that regard. Even though I shoot for Burris, they do allow me to use other brands that they might not offer. NF does make and excellent product.
Tupac Shakurian That is correct. I have two of those rifles. One for factory division which does not allow magnified optics among some other restrictions. That particular rifle is being setup for the Task Force Dagger Match in June.
Tupac Shakurian The field of view is great. The dot is a little larger than I prefer but did not have any issues engaging 12”x12” steels out to 600yards on 7x
Montanacfl I will agree with that. The Elcan glass is top notch. I also like the illumination controls. They do fade out if you aren’t directly in line with the scope.
ronnie duncan Sorry Ronnie, forgot to add that. Around 2k. It would be a good scope for an AR10 depending on the application. Hunting and general target out to 5-6 hundred yes. Longer range precision... No.
Ali Gural Absolutley Ali! Some of the best hunting setups are with a 1-4,6,8 for dense cover but still allow you to reach out for longer shots. It makes a lot of sense.
X-RING thank you for such a quick response. Since its parallax is set at 125 yards and its 1-8x24 ATACR’s reticle is more suitable for follow up shot correction I thought that it would be more sense for an AR type semi-auto
Nx8 or atacr 1-8 on a 16” free floated noveske barrel? ATACR is still lighter than the vortex 1-6 so I’m surprised you said it may not be good for 3 gun.
Dam Main I have shot all 3 extensively for 3 gun. I would still have to give the win to the Razor HD. I’m not concerned with weight. The reticle is the biggest downfall with the NF scopes. NF missed the mark with these 2 for 3-Gun applications.
Dam Main No Problem. As long as you realize how big the center dot is on both of the units. I would highly recommend the ATACR over the NX8 if you are going that route. The glass is much better on the ATACR of course. I am personally not happy with the clarity of either optic. If I adjust the eyepiece to be clear at 1x it is a little fuzzy at 8.
Price point aside (it's fooking expensive!) the feature set of this scope makes it perfect for using in a QD base to share it between something like the Ruger American Ranch bolt action carbines, which have integral rails. Think about it: 1 scope to swap between the 5.56 rifle and the 7.62x39 rifles. The Xmas tree reticle in .5 mils gradations are perfect for those two calibers out to their effective rangs of 600 yds max. Why do I say this scope is perfect for that? 1. First focal plane, which means that once you determine the elevation holds for your calibers, you can zoom to any power and still use the same holds. You cannot do that with a second focal plane scope. 2. Capped adjustments: for the ranges and calibers specified above you don't need to dial in elevation; you'll use the reticle. 3. 1-8 magnification, perfect for out to 600 yds/meters. 4. Scope is compact, though not lightweight. 5. Using a bolt action in a combat environment you want to be able to zoom out to get a wide field of view, but be able to take the shot with a holdover if you see a quick target. This scope can do that. With something like the Swarovski Z8i you'd need to zoom to a specific power where you zero'd for the holdovers to be accurate (it's a second focal plane scope.) Yet the Swarovski is in the same price range. 6. with these calibers and holds it's perfect for "minute of deer" style hunting. This scope is highly useful, not just for AR platforms. It would work well on an M1A, or of course as stated above, on a series of bolt action rifles with rails. Now I just need a 4th of July sale to bring the price down a bit.
Map Led It is very busy but not too bad if you are accustomed to looking at H59’s or Tremors. It has been very good at running the 5.56 using holdovers.
Great scope, I am sure I can’t shoot well enough to make real use of it. And damn, your office is clean, no dust bunnies in the wires or anything. Thanks for the good video.
NX8 is definitely on my list. That ATACR looks nice but is pricey for what I'd be using it for.
WOW! Probably the best LVPO out right now!
good stuff indeed, NF never fails.
That is one very nice scope as it is very robust....Good stuff...
Just ordered one for my Cobalt Kinetics Edge stg3.. the swine down here in South Texas are going to love it!!
Those Cobalts are tack drivers and you should have a great set up for hog hunting. Heck you could even bayonet them with the Cobalt muzzle brakes ! LOL.
X-RING Hopefully!! never shot one. my first ar im 23.. just recieved the atacr 1-8 in the mail last wed. now Im going crazy waiting on the rifle!! 🤣
X-RING and on the pipeline where i work we are always seeing hogs.. cant wait to bust it out and show it off to my bosses! lol
Well, when you get it you will notice 3 things.
1. It’s heavy (very stable)
2. The muzzle brake is SHARP!
3. It’s Bad Ass !
X-RING i figured it would be heavy it will be on a polaris razr most of the time so i wasnt to worried abot weight.. i just hope its worth what i payed! 😬 have you shot them?
Nice scope indeed.
Nice ! 👍
Very nice
Nice scope
I see you have been getting a lot of night force scopes lately. Do you recommend these over vortex?
I do.

so you were shooting with the aimpoint micro on your competition rifle before the nightforce?
Tupac Shakurian That is correct. I have two of those rifles. One for factory division which does not allow magnified optics among some other restrictions. That particular rifle is being setup for the Task Force Dagger Match in June.
that's awesome. how you like the field of view on the nx8? i want that scope but i don't want to strain my eyeball.
Tupac Shakurian The field of view is great. The dot is a little larger than I prefer but did not have any issues engaging 12”x12” steels out to 600yards on 7x
ATACR 1-8 or ELCAN 1-4 if you could just have one?
Montanacfl Great question. If I could only have one I would reluctantly choose the Atacr 1-8.
Now the Elcan 1.5-6.0 is a good option as well.
X-RING I’m torn between the two. Thanks for the quick response!
I heard the elcan glass is one of the best on the market.
Montanacfl I will agree with that. The Elcan glass is top notch. I also like the illumination controls. They do fade out if you aren’t directly in line with the scope.
@@XRING how do you set the zero stop ?
Do you reccomend it for the Scar 17s? with its history for destroying optics
Darryl Winfrey I would think so......I haven’t seen a NF go down yet through recoil.
Ok buddy two questions.
1. What's the price point on this
scope?
2. Would you recommend it for an
AR10?
ronnie duncan Sorry Ronnie, forgot to add that. Around 2k. It would be a good scope for an AR10 depending on the application. Hunting and general target out to 5-6 hundred yes. Longer range precision... No.
X-RING a little pricey. Would like to see a shooting video of it.
Does it make sense to mount ATACR 1-8x24 on bolt action gun?

X-RING thanks for the reply. I like distance shooting. Is the atacr worth the price difference over the nx8 for the eye box? 16” 5.56. Thanks

That being said, I am presently running the 1-8 ATACR on two 3-Gun rifles
Thanks for the time and input.

Waaaaaay too much of a scope for my dumb ass :)
Nice unfortunately out of budget.
Shootin' with Uncle Dan They are proud of them.
That reticle is way too busy for a 1-8.
Map Led It is very busy but not too bad if you are accustomed to looking at H59’s or Tremors.

X-RING Which SPUHR mount do you have it in?
I would suggest looking through it first, it really isn’t nearly as busy as you might think.
