In the UK these panels are known as Mermaid Elite or Nuance Wall Boards (both part of the Wilson Art group) Wetwall in the UK has a MDF or PLY core and doesnt have postformed edges and requires trims in the corners and ends to finish. Just to help stop any confusion for UK people watching this video.
thank you for showing what it can look like when the wall extends past the tub. I am putting a 42" soaker tub in place of the 48" garden tub and was trying to figure out what to do with the remaining 6" of wall in the alcove.
Seeing how nobody responded to you.... I will. I was looking at this product today but it wasn't at a big box store. The panels have finished bevelled edges if you get the custom sizes. You glue it down and then run a bead of caulk on the perimeters for waterproofing
@@youknow1334 I was told that the box stores offer trim kits for the edges.... this was one of the differences between the big box stores product vs the smaller mom & pop stores. No idea if there's any truth to it though. I would go check it out yourself and ask lots of questions. I am probably 2 months out from buying the surround for my tub. We are going with the Wetwall Aria White. We liked the brushed texture and the white matches our Toto toilet and Kohler tub & sink.
Thanks for the video. I never heard of this product before…super cool! How did you trim the gap at the walls where the panels overlapped the old time and the furring strips were exposed? Do they sell matching trim and accessories?
Curious as to what you filled the space on the sides tgat sit out because of the tile left in place. I live your projects and am currently looking at Wetwall as the best option. I also wasn't aware i could order a full back panel instead of the click version back panel (though I hear it appears seamless), so that is great info to have now. Thanks, April!
Thank you for your video. My tenants (caretakers); destroyed my mobile home. It is a complete redo. This is interesting, my brother did something similar to my parent's home years ago. It was not as easy to work with. If I take out the original shower will this go on the waterproof board ? I am old and would like to just have a shower pan. You're humor is refreshing I was pressing my weight against it for you. LOL 😆.. Thankful I stumbled upon your video..blessings from Florida Meema and Jessi Beagle. 🙏⚔️

Has wilsonart developed a solution for the gap between the bull nose of the side panels and the wall when installing panels over tile like this? I've installed several of these, but I was suprised that the reps who presented this product to me were not able to offer any good solutions regarding this issue.
If a Wetwall kit is purchased, please follow the steps in #2 below. If buying Wetwall from a distributor that offers individual panels, please follow #1. 1) Rip a baton strip of a Bullnose Edge + Flat Edge of any design down to the preferred width. Adhere the baton strip next to the tile edge creating a flat/level surface. Cut the wing wall down to the desired width. For this instance, the wing wall was cut to approximately ¾” from the bullnose edge of the baton strip. This will give the edge a “double” or stair-stepped look. 2) Apply the Panel Adhesive to the wing wall panel as directed. Apply a bead of Panel Adhesive on the baton strip behind where the wing wall will terminate. Press firmly over the entire area of the panel to securely hold in place. If you have any questions, please contact us: www.wetwall.com/contact/.
How do you fill end the end wall panels which are not flush with walls? Surely not just caulking! Are there L shaped trim pieces to match the panel? Very curious. 🤔
The way I would do it is to take the panel to my table saw and miter a 45 degree cut on the edge that will sit proud on the wall, then cut another miter on a scrap piece the same length, cut the width that I would need for the return, and glue them together with an adhesive like Loctite Power Grab Ultimate. If you can cut your return piece off the same edge you cut your panel for the tub from then your pattern will look like it just goes around the corner and will finish very nicely.
Hi Sarah, we are so sorry for the delayed response. Sealant was used to cover the transition between the tile and the Wetwall in this application. However, there are trim solutions available based on the thickness of your tile. Feel free to contact 1-866-Wetwall for details on solutions best for your applications.
we are in the process of remolding our bathroom. We like the idea of ordering one sheet 60 inches wide,. having difficulties finding the whole 60 inch panel. Where did you order from?
It’s very conspicuous that there are no problems with this product that I could find yet I also can’t buy it at any of the big retailers. I can find Wilsonart but nothing mentions Wetwall anywhere.
A year and a half to plan and 5 days to complete. Or am I wrong? Was it even it 5 days? Yeah, that's what you said. What? No, I didn't mean was I wrong about the year and a half. I probably underestimated that. It could be as long as 10 years as it is in my case.
An interesting option, but I'm guessing pretty pricey compared to plain-ole laminate. Not sure why the wet wall instructions require blueboard backing (if you don't have tiles). Is this wall not water proof? Also, would much prefer a gloss finish to the one that comes with wet walls. Have a 35 y/o simple glossy laminate shower in an RV that looks like new. I don't think it would look as nice if it had texture to collect microbes etc. Still debating how to DIY a house shower wall.
Hi Dell! So sorry for the delayed response. Wetwall is a patented wall panel system consisting of two panels made of High Pressure Decorative Laminate bonded to a water-proof core (Wood Plastic Composite, WPC). Panels can feature a flat edge, tongue/groove edge, and a decorative bullnose edge. Retail pricing for kit of 4 panels will run between $600 and $1100. Our Wetwall Kit pricing is complete and ready to install. As a total installed price, we are competitive with mid-tier tile, but goes in faster, easier and looks great. No professional installation fees or added costs for thinset, grout, sealers, or silicone. Wetwall provides a patented water-proof panel system, along with antimicrobial protection, and AEON™ Enhanced Scratch & Scuff Resistant Performance Technology. Wetwall does offer smooth texture finishes, and design structures determine which finish is offered. Let us know if we can help with anything else!
Good Luck trying to find DYI distributors; Lowes and Menards has packages w/limited colors.

What material is the surface of?
What do you do around the outside edge? Where the tile meets the drywall

No, it would void the warranty. We require using our Wilsonart Adhesive and Color Matched Sealant. Otherwise, we can't guarantee its waterproof.

No battens at the upper edges where you actually put your adhesive. 😮 Not the attention to detail we normally see from April. 🙁
Yes, I noticed that. The most important "batten" would be the one at the ceiling.
