This was so good for my mental health to watch a realistic video that admits that for some people the only way we can be motivated is caffeine and Netflix, complete with goofy dancing and a messy room. God, I honestly feel like I could cry I didn’t even realize until I watched this video all the unrealistic, unattainable content I was consuming. It just fed my perfectionist ego and made me feel like a complete failure for not feeling motivated and making my bed everyday. You guys, please really think about the content you are watching and viewing and be aware of how it is affecting your mind and your self-esteem. Your mental health is worth so much more than you realize, it is so much more important to be happy than to strive so hard to attain perfection. I just feel in my soul someone else needs to read what I just felt today.
dude I literally lost friends because I wasn't doing work my first semester. Jim Goldstein wow u literally making the same replies under every comment just to body shame her😂? You must be a really miserable person. She is beautiful and u will never be able to have an attractive girlfriend, as the result of ur pitiful mentality.
It's so hard to get motivated when you don't really wanna do anything AND your environment doesn't help at all. I lost a whole year because I was going to 'prepare/know myself better' but ended up being consumed by my family, helping my sister in the morning-evening with her daughter so she can work and study, helping my mother with the house cleaning because she has to work, and that's all my day. I've tried to organize my time but It seems It isn't on me to decide what to spend my time on. I'm so frustrated I didn't even made sure I wrote all of that correctly (english isnt my first language after all)
Dude same. Except i got it worse, i too am stuck in an unmotivated rut for a whole year doing nothing. I started working on my thesis again after i moved my ass out the city to my best buddy's place and reaching out to people again.. still hard to move myself but i got progress each day.
Maybe, you shld step back from your family and take time for yrself. Trust me. It would be much relieving cause I've been through this quite early in my life
THIS. Oh my God, this. Family cannot see you without a full-time job or they will pile their own responsibilities onto you because "it's only fair, right?" Before you notice, you are not living your own life anymore, you're just a jack of all trades errand person for all their stuff, and they will still look down on you for "not doing anything" while your every waking hour is spent putting out their fires. I am so sorry you lost a year. I hope you can either move out, get started on school or employment, or set some boundaries (expect lots of pushback) to take your life back because there is nothing more frustrating and demoralizing than losing it that way.
@@atomamalgam7607 as great and dreamy as that sounds, im pretty sure those aren't the ONLY attributes a person needs. 😟 Stanford has a 5 percent acceptance rate, definitely some intelligence involved.
@@ninashaven yeah i may have meant to say that instead, but i find the concept of intelligence to be so loose due to cognitive biases that the human mind is inherently riddled with. like the duning-kruger effect where less intelligent people will overestimate their intelligence by virtue of ignorance, basically "you dont know what you dont know" and true knowledge resides in knowing that you know nothing (a la socrates), also because of iq tests whose concept is also extremely loose that even if you were smart, its best to simply assume youre average. when you imply that you need to be smart in order to be accepted in prestigious schools, you promote this way of thinking that limits your potential simply because of a trait that you think you have no control over. i also feel that this is a side effect of public schooling because they are the hotbed of generating fixed mindset societies by using external rewards (gold stars, grades, etc) as a determinant for inner worth and competence. also those acceptance rates remind me of this quote i read a long time ago, "a fool with a plan can beat a genius without a plan." i understand that everyone is different, and i may only be just making these claims because of my disdain for school systems and the toll it takes on young/old people who have so much potential, also because i believe every single person has the capacity to improve, also because of my lack of knowledge on what truly is intelligence, and also because of my inclination towards metaphysical ideas and the feeling that there is something nonphysical that "underlies" physical outward appearances. but i find myself curious about that topic so often that ive started digging out more research, personal observation, and reading philosophy.

Lol, he definitely didn't slack to get into Stanford, and he even says that in an interview. He just slacks now that he's in Stanford because there's no higher education goal to motivate him.
Dude is probably talented but never put much effort. Generally think people underestimate hard work and dedication. Yes talent will always have an advantage but I thing those advantages most prevalent early in their childhood and at their peak. Advice • Find the reason to want to do things, why are you in college? • Remember you are in college, know that it is not always fun, it is a place for learning • Don't try to find your motivation, try to set up a routine. Just do things because you always do it • Use caffeine, just drink it till you make it • Don't multitask, but if you do watch/listen to something that you know like the back of your hand • Don't not try, cuz u then sack a shit • College costs a lot of money, every time you want to skip class just think about if you want to burn a couple hundred dollars And watch everything slowly but surly break down during finals week.
Finals week shouldn’t be treated like the rest of that semester, it should be treated as a much shorter period of a lot more studying. Finals aren’t as hard as we think they are as long as you study, and if you don’t think you’re going to have to do more studying you’re wrong and need to change that mindset
Nicole Ng im taking high school and college classes right now, it’s actually not that hard you just have to be responsible for yourself and not rely on your parents cause they aren’t getting your report cards anymore so you have to stay motivated or just do the work even if you might not like it it’s a good thing to do for your future
Chicken Wing Yeah I’ve been doing some weekend college classes and I no longer show my parents my grades (unless they rlly ask for it). I just struggle with mental health and motivation a lot so I know my struggles in high school rn will translate to college. And yeah I agree that college courses aren’t that bad
I'd say don't go to college unless you can find a way to live a very short distance away so you can get more sleep. I lived in the country and had to get up at 530am every day during college to get a ride to start class at 9 and I often didn't end up getting home til around 7pm. It was not a good couple of years.

I mean, i accidentally pick my major randomly bcs i think i just need to go to college, to 'kind of keep up' with friends....
@Ghastly why did you have to call me out like that-
It's so hard to get motivated when you don't really wanna do anything AND your environment doesn't help at all.

Family cannot see you without a full-time job or they will pile their own responsibilities onto you because "it's only fair, right?" I am so sorry you lost a year.

Same like in my country people constantly redo years over and over because it doesn’t cost anything
@@ayellowpapercrown6750 yeah I guess people could do that here to but it's only free till you're 26
"You're not thinking why do I have to brush my teeth" I am. I am thinking why do I have to brush my teeth. It's that bad
Ana-Gertrudes Gonzalvez same!
Ana-Gertrudes Gonzalvez who doesn’t
sameee??
me lying in bed every night wondering if its worth the effort to get up and go to the bathroom
Hands down my favorite video on the internet. I'm now starting my third year in med school and ever since my first one I come and watch this video every now and then because it just magically makes me put everything back into perspective reminding me of the reasons I'm doing what I'm doing and that it's normal that everything just doesn't go smoothly it has to be difficult and it's just fine. I'm just glad and grateful this video exists and that your mind exists thank you
Samee. I'm in my third year of medschool now, and I come back every couple of months to remind myself that, in Arpi's words, "it's not okay to be a sack of shit"
*COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE*
Me: cries in anxiety attacks :)
I felt that
I can't have more than one cup of tea, it makes me sad 🙃
Lol, do you guys actually get anxious just from a cup of coffee? I legitimately only feel anxious to where I feel like I'd get a heart attack from 1 gram of caffeine, which is like 10 cups in a few seconds.
@@Kevin-it4fh Yeah lol like it makes me feel like there's something really wrong but idk what it is or like the world is ending and but idk how. Its really dumb and hard to explain and it makes me feel super anxious for absolutely no reason. As someone who's constantly tired but can't drink more than one cup of coffee its maddening
@123 321 Okay..? 😂
Him: Use Substances.
Me: Crack Cocaine?
Him: Caffeine!!!
Me: oh okay
*Instructions unclear, i am now a crackhead*
Adderall unironically helps quite a bit.
@@roanoneill3937 I mean yeah, but it's hella expensive if you don't have a prescription
If you're cool (me) you can overdose on both in the same year
@@thecynicalmiscreant5011 neat!
There's nothing more attractive than a guy confidently dancing to a silly song
Can't tell if you're serious. Are you?
Also guys who are confident and *not traditionally 100% attractive* but *instead inexplicably or untraditionally 100% but traditionally about 50-60%.* Guys who are interesting to look at rather than perfect ken dolls and pull it off well. Does that make sense? Yes I have someone in particular in mind. No, I will not say who it is. Sorry for the kind of unrelated reply. Had to go off on a tangent😂
@@mike1005ful1 It's not the dancing that is attractive, but the confidence. He is fully aware that he is doing something silly, but he owns it
God, this is so relatable.
I'm just starting university, and I'm literally failing most of my courses because I stupidly thought cramming all the semester in 3 weeks was enough. Now I'm in a strict diet of coffee and Doritos, while studying for 2 hours then playing btd6 for 1 (That from 7 am to 2 am the next day).
I'd watch a whole video of you just dancing. No homo.
It's just like ASMR for the eyes. Oh and it has to be with that song, so relaxing.
Deadman omae wa mo
Same but full homo

OMG YEAH i want that
Advice
• Find the reason to want to do things, why are you in college?
• Remember you are in college, know that it is not always fun, it is a place for learning
• Don't try to find your motivation, try to set up a routine. Just do things because you always do it
• Use caffeine, just drink it till you make it
• Don't multitask, but if you do watch/listen to something that you know like the back of your hand
• Don't not try, cuz u then sack a shit
• College costs a lot of money, every time you want to skip class just think about if you want to burn a couple hundred dollars
And watch everything slowly but surly break down during finals week.
Finals week shouldn’t be treated like the rest of that semester, it should be treated as a much shorter period of a lot more studying. Finals aren’t as hard as we think they are as long as you study, and if you don’t think you’re going to have to do more studying you’re wrong and need to change that mindset
@@chickenwing5720 As a person who still hasn't really studied ever in their life, I know college will be hell for me
Thank you ily
Nicole Ng im taking high school and college classes right now, it’s actually not that hard you just have to be responsible for yourself and not rely on your parents cause they aren’t getting your report cards anymore so you have to stay motivated or just do the work even if you might not like it it’s a good thing to do for your future
Chicken Wing Yeah I’ve been doing some weekend college classes and I no longer show my parents my grades (unless they rlly ask for it). I just struggle with mental health and motivation a lot so I know my struggles in high school rn will translate to college. And yeah I agree that college courses aren’t that bad
When I buy a coffee, I immediately do homework so I don’t waste money and caffeine. Extremely effective
Extremely caffective
Caffeine takes about 40 minutes to fully kick in, so you should drink the coffee about half an hour before the things you need to do
I'd say don't go to college unless you can find a way to live a very short distance away so you can get more sleep.
I lived in the country and had to get up at 530am every day during college to get a ride to start class at 9 and I often didn't end up getting home til around 7pm.
It was not a good couple of years.
