  • Louis CK is a legend of the stand-up comedy world, breaking into film and television as well. However, after several allegations came out in a 2017 New York Times article, his career was halted and he was forced to battle his way back to the top. The question remains, is Louis CK a legend or is he a creep?

    He asked women for consent to do a sex act. The very thing we're all asking men to do. He DID do two major things wrong: there was a phone conversation where he was masturbating and confessed to the other person, and where he didn't have consent, which she was upset by. Bad. And he approached women he worked with, which isn't a good idea, but in no way illegal.
    Moreover, he accepted what he did wrong, he made it clear that he has learned from it, and it was over 15 fucking years ago. If you can't make mistakes in this world, what can you do? Especially when you actually take accountability for it.
    Those of us that listened to O&A also have some insight. He was going through a divorce and dealing with mental health stuff. At that time he was in therapy, presumably for things of this nature, and shortly after he put a stop to it. This is human. This is the human experience. Sure, plenty of us don't have this kind of transgression on our record, but if you claim to not have a single embarrassing skeleton in your closet, you either haven't lived a life or you're lying.
    I love Louie.

    • @tyron2854
      @tyron2854 6 месяцев назад +1

      Just think of all the times he got away with this with little girls and underage girls, its an actual mental issue to want to expose your jink to other people, there are studies about people who feel the need to expose their private parts, just think of how old hie is, back when he was young, because that’s when disorders like this tend to start to occur, he probably has so many victims from the 70 and 80 and 90’s. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had recordings of himself exposing his privates to people….he has a disorder and he clearly doesn’t get help for it💁

    • @steven1479
      @steven1479 6 месяцев назад

      He did way worse when he was a teen, on OnA he confessed to breaking into a neighbors apartment and j***ing off in their panties (leaving the remnants there), but nobody that was going after him heard about that.
      I don't care how old he was when he did it, but that's insane, and I can only assume his urges ramped up throughout the years. I mean, that's the stuff serial r**ists when they first start out.

    He did not want to get caught as some sort of cry for help to return to smaller venues, no matter how big a genius somebody is, their main brain is shut down when sex is involved. I don't know what made him have that kink, probably something that happened when he first had sexual feelings.

    Personally I put this man in the top 3 best comedians of the last 20 years. He is truly phenomenal at his craft. But yeah he's definitely creepy. I mean asking random women if they'd like to watch you rub one out puts you in that category.

    Actually what you broke down about what Louie was doing at the height of his Fame as a cry of help because he didn't really feel comfortable with how much they were treating him like a god makes perfect sense yeah he made himself the butt of the joke instead of telling the jokes because he didn't feel comfortable with who he was becoming so yeah that makes perfect sense

      I don't see what he did that is so creepy. I'm a woman and every job I've ever had there is some consensual sexual dynamic going on between some employees. If you're interested in a coworker but that person gets a raise or promotion is it off limits then since there will then be a "power imbalance"? As far as I've seen and read he never forced himself onto anyone but asked consent and was given that. The idea that grown women are too timid to say no to someone who is a friend is kind of insulting. If it were an aggressive stranger who barricaded the door it would be different. That doesn't seem to be the case, and from the accounts at least a couple of the women were in the room together and said they started cracking up and said yes when asked. To later say that he did something against their will is disingenuous in my opinion. I could understand maybe telling him later that it caught them off guard and they didn't appreciate it and not to do it again, but not using it to try to destroy someone because you didn't have the sense to decline a sexual request.

      @@possumfriend2335 There are actually reports that he did block a hotel room doorway from two women who didn't think he was actually being serious and then he whipped it out and started giving 'er. The bottom line is in the comedy community women warned each other that he was known for doing this behaviour. He's a big time famous celebrity and leveraged his influence and power over these women in an inappropriate way. If he had sexual relationships with them it would've been a different story completely. He didn't have any real relationship with these people other than they were lesser known comedians who were star struck and wanted to hang out with him. The fact he "got permission" doesn't really matter all that much as he says himself he put them in a "predicament" where they felt obligated to agree to it because of his status. It's a complicated situation. He obv didn't rape or assault anyone physically but it's inappropriate and weird. The power imbalance prevented the women from speaking up as it would affect their careers in a negative way or get them black listed. He knew this and took advantage of it in a predatory way. He's a comedic genius and I'll appreciate him always but clearly he did some dumb things I'm sure he regrets.

    he is and always always will be a fucking legend in my book. He was one of the first stand up comics I got into like 10/15+ years ago...well no I take that back it was Dane cooks Vicious Circle iirc or ISolated INcident....GET THE JELLY TWAT. Shame he ended up being kind of str8 creepy and got big like prematurely in a way. But anyways, after that I discovered louis and I was holy fuck I found someone who has the same sort of disdain and dislike of interacting with the general public as I do! Who is super fucking intelligent, and rides the line of feeling superior to most everyone and also having the worst self esteem and self depreciating mindset that I do. Pig newtons?! Amazing. So many things I'd love to refer to but there's too many.
    When the allegations came out I was like fuckkkkk. But I was like oh well still can do no wrong in my book. Seriously. Love him

    As a huge Louie fan, the only really disappointing thing for me was the fact that his accusers couldn’t speak about it publicly while it remained an open secret among comics. It was for that reason that I think he deserved repercussions, but blacklisting is still too severe for him. And also self-destruction is common for artistic types, esp when they reach an elevated status and one reason may be to retain some humanity.

      I kinda think that the "position of authority " angle that is used when discussing this specific situation is often overplayed.
      It's not like he was some big Hollywood producer. He wasn't even big when the events happened. Just another somewhat successful comedian.
      Not excusing anything but I think there's more to it. Especially since metoo was jumping at the time the accusation came out, not before.

      I was heartbroken when I heard the news. I knew no more of my favorite show, no more specials. I'd never been disappointed in a celebrity before, because I just don't give a fuck about famous people. But comedy is my jam and he is the king of it in my mind.
      I was also disappointed in myself a bit, because some of my first thoughts when the news broke was: why didn't he just hire a hooker to exhibit himself to avoid all this? And not: oh no, how terrible.
