  • In 2022 Andrew Schulz released his comedy special "Infamous" directly to his fans through his website. However, he soon released it free on RUclips after his fans had paid to watch it through his website.
This video explores how comedians are racing to offend people for free publicity and the fake cancellation narratives they try to push.

"Punching down" isnt a term created by suits and producers. its literally from a George Carlin quote about why he didnt like Andrew Dice Clay. Carlin said Clay was a coward because if youre doing social commentary comedy, its easy to punch down at people with less agency in society and that a good comedian punches up at the systems. the whole thing is short hand for "Dont go after people, go after ideas and systems" how does Schulz not know this. its like the 4th most memorable thing Carlin ever said.

I agree 100%. It's way funnier to enjoy the shortcomings and cringe moments of these entitled bunch that listen to anything they have ever put out. They are the clowns of the circus and if they are not good enough to make people laugh, at least they can be used as targets for people to mock them for being walking stereotypes of what we should strive not to be. The only problem is that they're making so much money doing so little work that they have effectively deluded themselves into thinking their work is actually valuable.

Pretty sad and depressing knowing that there’s this many people out there in the world who want to see other people fail. Like it’s totally cool to have this type of energy towards somebody like P. Diddy. But to have this kind of energy towards Andrew Schultz is ridiculous. I don’t really like Andrew as much as I used to. I do think he is pompous and arrogant but the guy is an innocent person. He never hurt anybody or did anything that brought harm to anyone. Is he cringe? You bet your sweet ass he’s cringe. But it would be nice if people took that very same pleb resentment type of angry hate energy and channeled it towards somebody who deserves it like P. Diddy.

The craziest thing is that with the exception of Matt Rife. Most of these guys put FAR MORE attention into podcasting, which is their main source of revenue. What do you say ALL THE ACTORS THAT GOT CANNED FOR SHARING THE "wrong politcal opinion on IG or twitter", Star wars, the flash, most shows on the C.W. only because there's a vocal mob on social media that feels entitled. Past comedians didn't have social media to worry about, there weren't mobs of voices that would congregate to get someone taken off the air over jokes not barring religous organizations that had the power to cancel people off of television, which btw I''m sure you also don't agree with. The fact that Dave Chapelle didn't get bopped by netflix is lucky and it's only because companies like netflixt also understand how cancellation can affect profits.Dave Chapelle makes them money, had it been anyone else and it would'v been a different story.

As evidence the buzzfeed and huffpost articles wrote about hashtags with 500,000 retweets saying she should be fired.

Your missing the point, no one said you can't critisize. ITS THE CALLING FOR COMPANIES TO REMOVE COMEDIANS FROM DOING COMEDY. Btw your right ART/COMEDY IS SUBJECTIVE WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY ITS IDIOTIC TO SUGGEST THAT THEY BE CENSORED. In same way that we disagree with the religous orgs that cancelled people back in the day, it's no different when twitter mobs do it. Does the terms cancelled get overused especially now yes, BUT ITS NOT AN EXAGGERATION.

I was a huge fan of Schulz. To the point where I was telling everyone I knew to watch his stuff. When he announced his "limited" "one time only" special I knew I needed to buy it! I invited a few friends over and cooked for everyone and watched as the timer counted down on his special. It was like a UFC main event to us. The special was great and I was happy to have supported Andrew. Fast forward a couple weeks later and he announces that he will be making the special available AGAIN for purchase. So not as "limited" as I had thought. No biggie though, the mans gotta make his money! However, once he announced that it will be on RUclips for free that's when I lost all respect for him. To hype up the "scarcity" of a product only to release it not just TWICE (for purchase) but THREE times total, raking in the maximized amount of profit seemed disingenuous and straight up whack. The guy is a schemer. No longer a fan.

Got an idea for a video. You should dive into Matt Rifes recent "controversy". I think he made it all up. Nobody of any seriousness complained about the one joke but je talked about it nonstop and even went on Jordan Peterson talking about it. It was clearly a made up controversy so he could slide into the "adult comedy" crowd instead of tik tok. If you read the comments of the JP interview thousands of people were commenting they don't like his comedy but will forever support him to fight "cancel culture".

I thought this about Rifes situation as well. Even the few tweets of people tweeting at him upset that you can find, were accounts with little activity that had been freshly created. Even searching YT and Tik Tok I couldn’t find any videos of commentary from people that were upset, only videos of people covering the “controversy”. Weird.

I have never met a fan of Andrew Shultz in person. Obviously they must exist but having worked at a comedy club in Boston for the last 30 years I speak with a lot of comedy fans and comedians. I have never been told by anyone that they are a fan of Andrew Shultz, like his comedy, think he’s funny, saw him live and enjoyed it, are planning on going to see him, or even their spouse Orr friend likes him, nothing like that. Ever. There are so many holes in his story it’s pathetic. Shultz either doesn’t have friends who will call out his bullshit or he thinks people are incredibly stupid and will believe whatever he says. The fact he says he could name the streaming service but the guy is nice and sometimes bosses need to be listened to. So they sold him back his special without any NDA’s?? He is just choosing not to name the service. Absolute bullshit lies. Shultz is a remarkably unimaginative talent. I have never heard a unique thought or a thoughtful perspective on a topic from him. He really is a no talent that people are comfortable with because they know he is safe. He is a modern day Buddy Hackett. His career apogee would be a guest starring spot on CHIPS or Love Boat

And y’know it is a natural place to “do comedy” and release “content” but it does not make good stand-up comedians and definitely doesn’t make good stand-up specials.
I actually think Christina P has suffered the most from this professionally even if it’s been objectively good for her career and probably even mental health… there’s something actually very specifically and profoundly un-relatable about building a very niche fanbase podcasting… Kyle Kinane brought it up in his post-Covid special how he needs “the checks and balances of a human interaction” to consistently produce good material rather than “little weird manifestos”

  • @maxrosenbaum8502

One of the most obnoxious characteristics all of these “hype” comedians share is that the scam is never-ending. They’re successful businessmen, but they are NOT funny or innovative. They’re not pushing any boundaries, they’re not exploring any new material or shining light on anything particularly dark or taboo. They all shill the same generic pablum and they really think they’re pioneers of the new counter-culture. I don’t watch any of these schmucks on their own shows, but I’m very aware of who they are. These hacks never met a sponsor they didn’t like, and “edginess” isn’t funny in a vacuum. Material will ALWAYS be king.
