@@TheMarquistadorGambling sponsors was there before he put out his special for free on RUclips. Logan Paul who is friends with Andrew Schulz taught him techniques to scam his listeners and subscribers.
Whoa. I didn't follow any of this. He really scammed everyone. Sold it directly to the consumer, probably made a few million then put it on RUclips for free and made a couple mill more.
It was $10 bucks to watch at first, and im pretty sure everyone who paid enjoyed the special. Putting it on youtube 2 weeks later so I can watch it again with friends was even better. I think its weird how many people are concerned with how much money these comedians make. Comedy is about the jokes, why tf do you care about the business?
The craziest thing is that with the exception of Matt Rife. Most of these guys put FAR MORE attention into podcasting, which is their main source of revenue. It’s not like Andrew Schultz, or Tom Segura had a legion of fans for the first 15+ years they’ve been doing comedy. They have tens of thousands of daily podcast listeners of YMH and “Flagrant” who go see their live shows. Segura has fallen out of love with comedy in the last few years.
@BizznessBox the only reason these guys even perform live is because their contracts with their management requires them to do a certain number of dates every year. Tom Segura often doesn’t even know where he’ll be two weekends from now because it’s just a job he HAS to do and he expects Rogan’s audience to be there
The moment I saw his special was on RUclips for FREE, I knew he had this setup with YT since the very beginning. Absolutely this was the plan all along and wanted to squeeze as much as he could from his fans. What a fake dude.

He was so happy to tell me about how he snagged a table at the cellar for Andrew Schultz, that upcoming Wednesday.. I couldn’t believe I was actually sitting with a man who knew 7 other people that genuinely love this grifter. “I’m trying to be in his crowd work video” Referring to Andrew as the “goat”

If people enjoy eating a food that you dont like, do you also find that insane? Are their tastebuds "wrong"? This channel is great because documenting the industry is entertaining and i think its important to analyze stuff like this. But the commenters? You guys are the worst. You aren't adding value, yall are just bitter and toxic. Revolving your life around something you hate. Treating your opinions like they are so valuable and definitive. Some guy who works at a wal greens saying comedians who sell out theatres across the country that they are bad at their job. ....btw, i dont even like Andrew. I just also realise my opinions are not that important.
In 2014 Greg Proops made his comedy special “Live at Musso and Franks” available for purchase exclusively through his website. I bought it soon after it became available. It’s hilarious. At the time, Greg had already been doing his Smartest Man in the World podcast for quite a few years. As has been mentioned many times by others in these comments, Louis CK had been making specials available via his website as well. I’m sure there are others I’m missing who had been doing it also. Schultz is a pioneer in his own mind.
The scam context is really good. I can't stop thinking about a comment saying you should pursue this angle within the podcast realm. I agree with it, you have the capacity to do deep dives and investigative videos in the podcast realm. And this is a valuable differentiator.
Got an idea for a video. You should dive into Matt Rifes recent "controversy". I think he made it all up. Nobody of any seriousness complained about the one joke but je talked about it nonstop and even went on Jordan Peterson talking about it. It was clearly a made up controversy so he could slide into the "adult comedy" crowd instead of tik tok. If you read the comments of the JP interview thousands of people were commenting they don't like his comedy but will forever support him to fight "cancel culture".
I thought this about Rifes situation as well. Even the few tweets of people tweeting at him upset that you can find, were accounts with little activity that had been freshly created. Even searching YT and Tik Tok I couldn’t find any videos of commentary from people that were upset, only videos of people covering the “controversy”. Weird.
Wait, he seriously put an ad in the middle of his set? lol -- Where are the real artists? I can't imagine a musician pausing to spew some dumb ass ad in the middle of a song... really wish we could get rid of these "celebrities" and get back to people who genuinely love the craft.
The whole "if you say I'm punching down that means you're bigoted coz you're imagining yourself higher than everyone else" is such disingenuous bullshit. We can all identify groups that are marginalised, powerless, and outright bullied by societies, laws, and bigots. Recognising that makes you informed, not bigoted.

It’s amazing to see these guys transform from hilarious, relatable and admirable to egomaniacal and insufferable is truly baffling to me in so many ways. It feels like it just came out of nowhere.
Most of these comedians are the bottom of the barrel in terms of actual productive worth to society. When you give someone of such low value the potential to become a multi-millionaire, they will pull out every grift and scam technique available.
What exactly is admirable about any these guys beyond their own personal success? What’s relatable beyond the fact they’re all just hanging out with their friends getting fucked up? And y’know it is a natural place to “do comedy” and release “content” but it does not make good stand-up comedians and definitely doesn’t make good stand-up specials. I actually think Christina P has suffered the most from this professionally even if it’s been objectively good for her career and probably even mental health… there’s something actually very specifically and profoundly un-relatable about building a very niche fanbase podcasting… Kyle Kinane brought it up in his post-Covid special how he needs “the checks and balances of a human interaction” to consistently produce good material rather than “little weird manifestos”
“Own” my exclusive content for only $15 and then place an absolute sucker bet that will have strings attached even if it hits. Great one Schulzy, a true man of the people.

Rogan rags on Newsome and Biden all the time, is he a hater?
@S3AN_ Rogan is definitely a hater of those two. But the big difference is that the core of his show is about the conversations with his guests, not who are we going to criticize today. The foundation of this channel is hating on comedians. I'm not even saying they're above criticism, but that's all this channel does 90% of the time. So yeah, haters lol.
Schulz pry turned down a Netflix offer because he felt he was worth more. Went elsewhere, got asked to make changes, didn't like it, went back to Netflix and they said no so he had to put it out himself.
I bought this special under the impression it was only a limited time. And I can't tell you how mad I was when he released it for free. I was listening to the flagrant 2 podcast, and was a fan. But after this I never really tuned in the same way again.
Most of these people don't give two shits about their fans, they care about what's in your wallet. Social media has made it so easy to scam and manipulate people.
You decided a comedian was funny enough to spend $10 on his special, but now you feel scammed because its free? What about the fact that you wanted to see his special enough to pay $10? You can get anything for free on the internet and everyone knows that, but you still paid $10 to watch something because you really wanted to watch it. Let's call it what it is, you're cheap asf.
Unlike these hacks Katt Williams had actual recipes and calls out all the BS without repercussion. Thats how independent he truly is and people are now understanding the power in truth. Not to mention all the decades of cutting his teeth in the game and then became a legend in the process for his hustle, never took a short cut or had anything handed to him. Most importantly he never tried to convince us of his greatness but paid homage to the actual legends.
The "cancellation" that comedians talk about is a myth. Having your humor critiqued doesn't mean you're "cancelled." Shit, it just means someone disagrees with your interpretation of comedy. Lenny Bruce was never crying about "being cancelled." Neither did Richard Pryor, and those cats said some intense shit. Art is subject to criticism. If comedy is an art then it should be open to criticism. And that criticism should not be censored.
The scale of cancelation has been dumbed down to prop up the AI written blog websites that have 3 paragraph articles with the page 90% covered with ads. Back in the day you'd see a headline that, "Paula Deen Canceled for saying the NWord" As evidence the buzzfeed and huffpost articles wrote about hashtags with 500,000 retweets saying she should be fired. But now a comedian will say, I got Canceled and the proof will be a screen shot of 1 tweet with 13 retweets.

Chapel getting cancelled is the best thing that happened to Netflix that year. Netflix would never censor a comedy special after that. If anything they might be reluctant to work with safe comedians like Amy Schumer who've never gotten ''canceled''.

Weird.

Most importantly he never tried to convince us of his greatness but paid homage to the actual legends.
Duuuude, this is a great idea for a video. That special was TRASH, and everyone was talking about it like this is what comedy has needed.
Back in the day you'd see a headline that, "Paula Deen Canceled for saying the NWord"
As evidence the buzzfeed and huffpost articles wrote about hashtags with 500,000 retweets saying she should be fired.
