Am I the only one who finds it pretty funny how Jason & Tommys actors hated each other but they had such a great friendship on the show? Shows how great & professional they are as actors
that akward moment when you realise that the power rangers fanbase is more friendly and kind to each other compare to fanbases like star wars, steven universe and undertale.... and all this series objectively have better written material than anything from power ranger, why it has to be like this?
motor4X4kombat Because those who grew up with this show lived in a time without widespread (or any) access to the Internet. I'm sorry, but for all the good the Internet has done, we tend to vent our frustrations about things we like and dislike (such as TV shows) on others, feeling there is no consequence with the supposed anonymity. I mean, it doesn't have to be that way. I would prefer we could talk about these things while choosing to be respectful and mindful of others. :)
Nice video, Walter. I guess my favorite Zeo episode is "It Came From Angel Grove" It does a nice job of emulating those old black-and-white movies you always watch at night with a bowl of popcorn. (Oh, btw, TOTALLY getting those Legacy Zeonizers)
The whole Gold Ranger saga was a big rollercoaster ride when it aired. They totally hyped up the mystery, teased Billy being the Gold Ranger, as well as Tommy's brother. After all of that, it's some alien. After that big downer, there was still hope Billy could take the powers, but no. Okay, it's obviously going to be Tommy's brother, that could be interesting.......HOLY CRAP IT'S JASON!!!!!! I really liked how they mirrored Jason losing his powers as the Gold Ranger with Tommy losing his as the Green.
Yep, my favorite episodes are A Golden Homecoming and King for a Day as well. Jason returning was so epic (I loved those episodes where he was the Gold Ranger) and KFAD just had many great moments. I liked Jason trying to help Tommy and not wanting to let him down again (IE the green candle) him and the rangers trying to bring him back to them, Kat unmorphing (that was so brave of her) and Bulk and Skull fighting the cogs.
I still feel that the "The Green Candle" episodes really showcased Jason as a leader, and IMO, actually still a better leader overall than Tommy. Nothing against Tommy personally, but I don't really recall any moments that *really* put him on the spot like what happened with Jason, and being forced to make a really difficult decision. Even though they clearly were trying to mirror the situation a bit with Jason and the Gold Ranger powers at the end of Zeo, it didn't have the same overall impact because, unlike with Jason and the Green Candle, there was no alternative other than to get Trey to take back the Gold Ranger power or Jason would die, so there was no hard choice for Tommy to make. Jason had to choose between saving the Green Ranger power and Tommy's place on the team, but risk Tommy's life, or to save Tommy's life, but risk losing Tommy's place on the team and, in the end, Jason chose Tommy's life over the power; showing that Jason wasn't just a great leader, but a great friend.
I agree. I liked Tommy too but Jason was a way better leader. Even though I loved when Tommy became the White Ranger it didn't sit well with me Tommy became the leader over Jason. Guess it didn't matter cause like two episodes later ASJ, WJ, and TT were gone anyway lol. At least ASJ came back. I wish there would of been some closure with Zack and Trini as well.
Yeah, I would have felt a lot better if, maybe after a few episodes after Tommy returned as the White Ranger, if Jason, still feeling guilty about the Green Candle, willingly handed over the position to Tommy rather than Zordon just dropping Tommy in and just declaring him the new leader.
well from a storyline view it makes sense as they announced Jason Trini Zack to go to the peace conference so having Tommy be the new leader over Jason works because Jason would be able to help Tommy out right at the beginning before his departure. Also Tommy had leader moments and well since it is a martial artists show the best fighter should be the leader and from a skill standpoint tommy is the best fighter ever on the show but yeah
“King for a Day” is my favorite from Zeo too. I do wish though that when Tommy is remembering everything, we could’ve got flashbacks of when he got his Ranger powers and how he met his friends. Like what Hunter went through on Ninja Storm. I too was flipping out when Jason returned as the Gold Ranger. I was so excited to see him back. I mean, I wasn’t born until after all this happened, but it was still cool seeing this when reruns were on TV. This makes me wish that the 2017 films sequels weren’t cancelled. It would’ve been cool to see Dacre Montgomery eventually be the Gold Zeo Ranger. They had the Zeo Crystal in the movie and on a newspaper, Jason was referred to as Angel Grove’s Golden Boy to foreshadow the future.
Top 5 best episodes for me: 1. Mondo's Last Stand- King Mondo had the best death scene out of any of the Big Bads in Power Rangers history. I was kind of miffed that they didn't go the Super Sentai route and keep him dead. Coming back 4 episodes from the finale and acting like nothing happened really took away from how cool he went down. 2. Brother, Can You Spare An Arrowhead- They had two monsters in one episode (Maceface, who began fighting the rangers in the previous episode, and Atachlon, an evil Native American spirit) and both were taken out by the second-coolest zord combination of the series, the MegaBattleZord. Also, we got a LOT of character development between Tommy and his brother. It's such a shame the brother was never fully utilized. 3. Rangers of 2 Worlds- Part 1 and 2- This two parter was AWESOME and really showed that the former bad guys, Rita and Zedd, could still be a viable threat by making a goofy-looking purse monster (by ACCIDENT, mind you) become the strongest monster in the whole series, actually withstanding the formerly invincible Zeo Ultrazord's blast and bouncing it back at the rangers. Seeing the Alien Rangers was fun, too. 4. The Ranger Who Came From The Gold- Contained one of the goofiest monsters ever (The Midas Hound, a gold puppy that could shoot lasers that turned things and people into gold) yet the thing was able to give the Rangers one of the best zord fights in the entire show. 5. King For A Day, Parts 1 and 2- Bulk and Skull have a fight scene. That's all I'm gonna say.
5: I don't remember that ep. 4: I'm not disagreeing. 3: ITS MUCH BETTER THAN ITS SENTAI COUNTERPART. Also: Hi Brad Hawkins. 2: YES JASON RETURNS IS AWESOME. 1: Oh this episode. Not arguing it. Nifty factoid: Tridor is a Sentai alum and Director these days.
Yup I thought King for a Day deserved the number one spot! When evil Tommy pointed a gun at Kat, I was horrified as a young lad. Sure it was a Ranger blaster gun, but still pretty powerful stuff!!!
Great episode. The subplot was pretty funny. Do you guys think you'll ever do a top 5 or top 11 Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers episodes? I recall hearing Doug liked it in a past NC episode.
I know I was happy when I saw Jason as the gold Ranger He's always been one of my favorite rangers I've even houred that in warframe a bit tbh with a Red Ash Ranger and a Gold Croma Ranger though I never saw Zeo till more recently but I am curious where the Walter vs Rob will go next
Isn't this channel mostly about Nostalgia? I love Sentai as much as the next guy, but I'd leave Sentai reviews to Linkara instead. He did a few episodes of Zyuranger and Gokaiger.
I really liked ZEO, it was a good season. Had some filler and the Christmas Episode was dumb, but I loved the robots. Also the Jason reveal was handled perfectly. You thought it was going to be Tommy's Brother, but nope, Jason walks out. "Guess whos back!" So happy. Love power rangers.
Remember, kids, if someone takes something from you out of petty spite, you steal their shit right back out of revenge. Also, you talking about the Bulk/Skull moments in the Top 1 made me think you should do a Top 5 best of Bulk and Skull. Number 1, and maybe also 2, being the end of In Space, where not only do they stand up saying they're rangers, encouraging the crowd to join in, but when the rangers do show up and fight, they rally the citizens into helping the rangers against the army.
The list goes on longer then that. If you remember VR troopers then I know you remember Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, Tattoo Teenage Fighters from Beverly Hills and perhaps Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad (which i couldn't get enough of the toys were awesome lol)
SHSSS was owned by DiC Entertainment who wanted in on suddenly lucrative market that was importing Japanese live-action shows and splicing with American footage. I loved the toys as well personally. I think my favorite episode is where Malcom gets Sam stuck in the camera.
Actually, Turbo improved quite a bit around the second half of the series, so most of the episodes would probably come from there. One episode that really stuck out to me was when T.J. opted to help Bulk and Skull find out who was stealing stuff from trucks from the job they were working since their boss suspected the two and was going to have them arrested if they couldn't find who was doing it and, of course, it being Divatox and co. and so Bulk and Skull having their innocence proven. The first half, though, was really jarring, especially for those who didn't see the Turbo movie that preceded and introduced the series while also creating a number of questions that never truly get answered. It also doesn't help that Turbo's Japanese counterpart, Carranger, was actually a parody series not meant to be taken that seriously.
some of the episodes were good but the entire premise makes no sense if you watch Linkaras HoPR he asks a very important question that is never explained... WHY if the Zeo powers are stated to always be getting stronger WHY have the turbo powers and also where did they come from that is the biggest plothole in the series and is the only time in the series where it is never explained why or where the powers come from
For me the seasons I like are Mighty Morphin, Zeo, in Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD and RPM. I dislike Turbo and despise Operation Overdrive and Megaforce. I've seen a little of Jungle Fury and I guess I liked what I saw but not enough. I've seen Mystic Force and it was OK I guess. Wild Force did have that pretty awesome crossover with Time Force and that Red Ranger special but it felt like it was written by Kindagardeners particularly through that Animus arc and I've hardly seen Samurai.
Wild Force WAS made for kindergardeners. It is understandable because behind the scenes in Japan people reacted negativly on work with previous series Timeranger. So they did big, silly, with tons of toys series. Japanese version was a bit more brutal but this is the case of japanese show of that time(you can bring horrible death scenes of simple human characters but as long they are not children nor monsters actual concept creepy it will be fine).
My favorite Zeo episode is the 2-parter when the Zeo team fights alongside the Alien Rangers. I still miss Billy, but true PR fans remember these episodes were the first of their kind.
Hon. Mention: It Came From Angel Grove, for the stunning innovation that the nightmare was NOT caused by any enemy, or even an ally seeking to teach a lesson or send a coded message or anything like that. Adam worked himself into a frenzy studying, collapsed and had a mind-bending weird dream. That is all. I think the last time I saw a dream ep that had no malevolent force guiding it, it was MASH. I think they did it on Cosby too, but Cos aside, I consider Claire a malevolent force, so it doesn't count.
I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with any Best of Zeo list that does not include "It Came From Angel Grove". Truly a classic episode worthy of praise. Other than that glaring omission, those are some pretty solid choices.
Mondos last stand will always be one of my favorites! For the first time EVER the main big bad took on the rangers and LOST! As a kid I always wondered if that was the end of the show (despite Rita and zedd at the end) and it was the first time we saw the super zeo megazord!
One of my favorites is "It Came From Angel Grove." It's just so over the top and wonderfully cheesy, plus it's centered around Adam which is a win in my book.
It's a good list especially number one, Zeo overall is a good sequel, it's definitely one of my favourite Power rangers shows along with Mighty Morphin.
Not sure if it's the first time Doug embraced his baldness or if it's because of something else, but damn, he's damn close to Heisenberg, cut the smile and we're in for a ride.
love watching these. will always be a power rangers show and movie fan. after zeo I couldnt really get into power rangers. aside from time force and dino thunder.
Jason becoming the Gold ranger is my favorite episode from Zeo
Arturo Olivo Jr nah I prefer the 15 year old KingRanger.
you know who was badass? those psycho rangers.
i'm still trying to get psycho red in that power rangers
fighting game....1 shard away for 2 months...
ryan phillips loved those guys.
ryan phillips The Psycho Rangers were some of the best villains ever!
Sorry for the loss of your grandmother, Walter. May she rest in peace. The things you do make us very happy and she would be very proud.
I have to admit that Walter does that morphing sequence really good! He would make a great red ranger!
Am I the only one who finds it pretty funny how Jason & Tommys actors hated each other but they had such a great friendship on the show? Shows how great & professional they are as actors
"I barely have any hair on my head. I look like a freak!!" *Door Slams* 😂😂😂😂
that akward moment when you realise that the power rangers fanbase is more friendly and kind to each other compare to fanbases like star wars, steven universe and undertale.... and all this series objectively have better written material than anything from power ranger, why it has to be like this?
motor4X4kombat that's just life man
Because power rangers fandom doesn't come from the head, it comes from the heart. From there, the power will always protect you.
motor4X4kombat Because those who grew up with this show lived in a time without widespread (or any) access to the Internet. I'm sorry, but for all the good the Internet has done, we tend to vent our frustrations about things we like and dislike (such as TV shows) on others, feeling there is no consequence with the supposed anonymity. +TayoEXE Agreed.
motor4X4kombat Hey all fanbases have a few bad eggs am I right?
I love the episode when everybody realize how damn good Skull can play piano....
@Syazwan Naim
Yeah that was a pretty cool Skull-centric episode.
Nice video, Walter.
I guess my favorite Zeo episode is "It Came From Angel Grove"
It does a nice job of emulating those old black-and-white movies you always watch at night with a bowl of popcorn.
(Oh, btw, TOTALLY getting those Legacy Zeonizers)
Doug: "That Power Rangers thing still around?"
Why yes Doug. Yes it is. Do you have a problem? Let's take the piss out of something you like.
When Billy left and they showed a montage of old Billy clips
It I made me depressed
Especially with the behind the scenes stuff
The whole Gold Ranger saga was a big rollercoaster ride when it aired. They totally hyped up the mystery, teased Billy being the Gold Ranger, as well as Tommy's brother. So Doug will let anyone in his house as long as they bring cookies?
Let's use that to kidnap him and have him review... i don't know, the my little pony movie, lol.
Probably not. His wife might though.
I've gotta make a trip to the grocery store!
The giant fight between the Rangers and Mondo is one of the cheesiest yet most awesome moments in all of Power Rangers.
not that cheesy.
Top 5 best episodes for me:
1. Mondo's Last Stand- King Mondo had the best death scene out of any of the Big Bads in Power Rangers history. I was kind of miffed that they didn't go the Super Sentai route and keep him dead. It Came from Angel Grove is one of my favorites. Adam had so much growth in Zeo.
It's be great if Walter did a Top 5 Best Dino Thunder episodes and have the plot be him begrudgingly work with Dino-Rob.
I love how Dino Rob is brought back just to torment Walter and his Power Rangers episodes
Ah yes, the Tommy Oliver Show, staring the Power Rangers.
Djinsin With his Power Rangers to help fight,
He is the one named Tommy Oliver!
He is the one!
Tommy Oliver!
Kinda wanted to see if "Instrument of Destruction" would make the list - really great development for both Bulk and Skull
Yup I thought King for a Day deserved the number one spot! When evil Tommy pointed a gun at Kat, I was horrified as a young lad. Sure it was a Ranger blaster gun, but still pretty powerful stuff!!!
I really dig that Rob Walker's style, man.
I actually met Austin St. John, aka Jason, and he was awesome.
Great episode. The subplot was pretty funny.
Do you guys think you'll ever do a top 5 or top 11 Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers episodes? I recall hearing Doug liked it in a past NC episode.
Good call on King for a Day. Most well written multi-parter since Changing of the Zords
Basicaly, any show with gold ranger = best show... is what I took from this top 5
Good for Walter. And he snagged a sweet fedora out of this ordeal. Now onto Turbo, Mi gent.
No mention at all of the episode with Tommy and Tanya singing like opera actors.
"Your chances will be so... SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!" "Ay-yi-yi."
Red Morphin Ranger wearing a fedora...................... super cool!
My favorite episode from this season was It Came From Angel Grove. I liked that it was filmed like a black and white horror film.
Gold Ranger Jason saved the ratings.
King for a day definitely was the best. Never thought my favorite would be number 1 so thanks
I just wish that they'd cover some of the Super Sentai ones. Toqger would be interesting to see get covered here.
Kurenai Satoshi I feel that you and i are the only ones
Isn't this channel mostly about Nostalgia? I love Sentai as much as the next guy, but I'd leave Sentai reviews to Linkara instead. He did a few episodes of Zyuranger and Gokaiger.
joseph cockrell I'd enjoy it, too, but what are the odds? ^^;
Animemus Linkara is all about nostalgia too though, that's why he said he won't ever do any full series sentai reviws.
Animemus Linkara is all about nostalgia too though, that's why he said he won't ever do any full series sentai reviews.
It pissed me off when Billy wasn't the Gold Ranger, I pouted for a solid day.
Inspector Javert very underrated and under use character.
I wonder if they're going to do Turbo Next.
To this day, I still wonder why it is called "Zeo"
I think he likes the Gold Ranger...
Boy, this episode sure was golden!
Channel Awesome is getting a lot better with the variety of interesting shows. Keep it up guys!
I didn't know Doug played Halo 5 Guardians. Well I guess you learn something new everyday.
I just watched Zeo recently and I have to agree with this top 5. So many great episodes!
Walter's love for Power Rangers gives me hope that we'll get that god damn sequel!
Last I watched Channel Awesome they had around 700k subs. You guys are doing great! Can't wait for you to hit 1 million!!!
Jason and Tommy as friends... ASJ and JDF must have been REALLY good actors since in reality, they hated each other's guts.
Come on you're the nostalgia Critic and no mention of Beetleborgs or VR Troopers!?
LEO UR oh you mean J-beetles and Space Sheriff's and the Metalder.
LEO UR Why would Doug mention any of those?
The list goes on longer then that. If you remember VR troopers then I know you remember Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, Tattoo Teenage Fighters from Beverly Hills and perhaps Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad (which i couldn't get enough of the toys were awesome lol)
SHSSS was owned by DiC Entertainment who wanted in on suddenly lucrative market that was importing Japanese live-action shows and splicing with American footage. I loved the toys as well personally. I think my favorite episode is where Malcom gets Sam stuck in the camera.
BobbyJay I grew up watching Mystic Knights and loved it, totally forgot until you mentioned it.
I thought Instrument of Destruction could have been an honorable mention, Skull being a masterful classical pianist was kinda heartwarming
Shit what's gonna happen when he has to do Turbo? Good luck with a Top 5 best in that, Walter. :P
Well, there's "Parts and Parcel" and "Chase into Space Parts 1 and 2"'; there's two entries here. Maybe "Clash of the Megazords" to?
Skoringo
While Turbo wasn't the best of the series, it did have some good episodes.

Were there any good Turbo episodes?
some of the episodes were good but the entire premise makes no sense if you watch Linkaras HoPR he asks a very important question that is never explained... WHY if the Zeo powers are stated to always be getting stronger WHY have the turbo powers and also where did they come from that is the biggest plothole in the series and is the only time in the series where it is never explained why or where the powers come from
Top 5 best & worst Power Rangers Dino Thunder episodes?
Alex Lubbers YESSSS!!!!!
For me the seasons I like are Mighty Morphin, Zeo, in Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD and RPM. Alexis Lubbers Dino thunder was trash
Zeo is the only season that holds up as well as the original MMPR ones imo
I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with any Best of Zeo list that does not include "It Came From Angel Grove". Truly a classic episode worthy of praise. Other than that glaring omission, those are some pretty solid choices.
Where's Linkara!?
Joey Allen and 90s kid when Walter said as fellow 90s kids I just heard duuuude
Joey Allen in Minnesota. Walter and Doug live in Chicago
Joey Allen Linkara is busy fighting Rita with the power of his geekiness.
Joey Allen SPOILERS. Possessed by the entity. His friends have to work with Lord Vice to stop him.
JamcalX I can't wait for this storyline to conclude
The Tommy and Jason relationship....NO no no its the Walter and Rob relationship is were its at.
Mondos last stand will always be one of my favorites! For the first time EVER the main big bad took on the rangers and LOST! As a kid I always wondered if that was the end of the show (despite Rita and zedd at the end) and it was the first time we saw the super zeo megazord!
Thank you! King for a day deserves number one!!!! I loved this two parter!
Fantastic list, those Gold Ranger episodes were absolutely my faves.
So this is what the others do to kill time when they're not busy with the next NC video. It's always nice to see what's going on behind the scenes =)
"I'm in Canada at ConBravo. (Leaning in) They really say ey!" - Malcolm 2017
I thought Doug hates Power Rangers?
What Doug hate power rangers
Giovanni Orellana no Doug hates Doug
Giovanni Orellana he doesn't hate them, but he's not a fan
Ruby the Q of T That is also true.
Saw videos on it- it's not that he hates it, just a bit after his time
xD
'I have barely hair on my head...I look like a freak!!!' xD Doug's definitely feeling hurt :(
You should do Top 5 Best Power Rangers in Space Episodes.
what's the deal with people on channel awesome losing their hair?
I love how you put every single Gold Ranger episode on this list lol.
Oh dear God that ending was absolute perfection XD
One of my favorites is "It Came From Angel Grove." It's just so over the top and wonderfully cheesy, plus it's centered around Adam which is a win in my book.
Do in space please!!!
TheMarvel Mystic Actually, next will be Best/Worst of Turbo
Toku Nation aw man turbo sucks XD
TheMarvel Mystic At least it's not as bad as Operation Overdrive or (gag) Super Megaforce (throws up)
Toku Nation megaforce is the worst season!
TheMarvel Mystic I hope they do In Space but not until they do Turbo.
Eyyy, Conbravo shout-out. Still so happy Malcolm came!
KEEP IT UP WALTER! YOU THE BOSS.
"high" fives from Canada
It's a good list especially number one, Zeo overall is a good sequel, it's definitely one of my favourite Power rangers shows along with Mighty Morphin.
I can't wait for you to do Power Rangers in Space!
I really enjoyed Zeo alot , best believe I'm gonna find one of those golden power staffs for my gold ranger cosplay :D
So, are you gonna do a top 5 for every Power Rangers, because I would love to see that.
I really want linkara to guest star on one of these power ranger list
I was never really much of a Power Rangers fan, but I came here for Tamara; she is just the cutest. Oh, and nice haircut, Walter!
Next time Walter tries running Rob in his red car along with 5 autobot combiner
I knew King for a Day was going to be number 1. I always thought Prince Gasket was a better villian than Mondo.
Jason returning to be the gold Ranger was an awesome moment
I can't bash Turbo as much as others can, mostly because Turbo got me into Power Rangers
WOW Rob must love the Death-Battle's with the Power Rangers in it since he f**kin hates them
I was like the only kid who did not care about power rangers. I guess I was too busy playing PINBALL SPACE CADET.
The Tres!!!! I think some of the brothers appeared on MTV's "Singled Out" with Nerdist guy Chris Hardwick way back when?
Hi Im a dinosaur
If I don't see linkara.
I'm gonna be confused
Doug can make jokes, but we all know he's in possession of a Black Ranger costume from the PR Turbo movie review
Now do Top five best & worst Turbo episodes.
Quick as lightning strong as steel, watch out danger, he's for real. Gold Ranger!
I always thought Trey of Triphoria was an interesting character. We could have gotten more about him if they tried.
Does this mean Rob is opening a barber shop? JURASSIC CUTS ✂✂ #ClassicCuts
No soliciting unless you have cookies? I want that sign for my place!
@Master RBG
That sign on Doug's door was probably the best part of the live action segments!
Are you guys going all the way up to SPD Power Rangers? Cause, I would love to see a Top 5 from them.
the gold ranger is my favorite special ranger from any series.
