That ending was so perfectly anticlimactic, with the over the top transformation sequence to end with a gentle "bonk" that broke the cartridge. I loved that part so much

I've been rewatching AVGN a lot recently. I just have so much respect for the guy. he has brought constant humor to me for years. I remember when I 1st found him in 2006. me and my sisters laughing so much because we've never seen anything like it. every single video gets a laugh out of me and for being 10 years in my life that is hard to do. im always shocked when people dont know who he is. He is one of the originals. I'm always excited to share his videos with a new audience because I know they'll love it. Keep it up James. You're the fuckin best!

Alexis Adler James is literally the Tom Hanks of internet entertainment, good at what he does, personable, funny and puts real effort in, and of course always a classic.
I love how anticlimactic the ending is. You expect that Nerd would destroy the game in a over the top way but, he just hits it with the butt of the superscope. I nearly died laughing.
The year is 2107 and Godzilla and King Kong are locked in a intense bout of Ping Pong, and the resulting collateral has destroyed all Major cities. The Power Rangers have been defeated, and the last hope for all of Humanity is to reassure t a Legend from the Past. Forrest Gump, the famous Olympic Ping Ponger and War Vet has been resurrected to face these two monsters in a epic Melee of the Ages.
I love the ending. I enjoy when he takes the dramatics and kind of implies that it's all been just in the Nerd's imagination. He wears the ridiculous getup, but it's not nearly as epic as he imagines it. Also, the stumble. He's always depicted as fairly competent, but here we see just how ineffectual such a ridiculous amalgamation of disparate video game accessories really is, not only failing to provide any defensive capabilities, but in fact hindering his ability even to ambulate. Moreover, there are no offensive capabilities. He had to simply use the plastic gun as a cudgel, brutishly striking the cartridge as the music abruptly stops, and the anticlimax of the entire thing-from an outsider's perspective-really is. Brilliant.
Also noting that the game cart got swapped as well. Something that has been done before. See Nintendo World Championships episode feat. Pat the NES Punk for another example.

The Power Rangers (as well as the Super Sentai) is one of my favorite Tokusatsu series alongside Ultraman and Gridman, The Hyper Agent (its anime revival (named SSSS.Gridman) by Studio Trigger (yes, that Hot-blooded Trigger that always told us not to lose our way ever since Kill La Kill) was SOOOOO LOVELY AND DELIGHTFUL that I cried of joy during the final battle). But don't forget Mecha anime series in the Super Robot subgenre like Voltron (is it an anime or a western action cartoon?), Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, The King of Braves GaoGaiGar, and my all-time favorite mecha anime, Gurren Lagann.
We disagree so bad there lol the Toxic Crusaders episode and the last Christmas Special with Keith Apicary are the only two ones that I can't really watch from beginning to end
James you really outdid yourself on this one. The intro and finale of this episode was one of the best. Such an attention to detail and editing. And I loved your passion in this episode in front of the camera. It really presented well and felt like you spent a lot of time and attention on the nerd. Always excited for more nerd. KEEP IT UP!
I remember a while ago, in J&MM I think, James was retelling Mike how his daughter pointed out to him the "poo" in winnie the poo as funny, James took a while to get her joke and was impressed she made the pun so young (roughly 4). Mike bursted out laghing, claiming she had the shit jokes in the genes.
So awesome to see you still making new Avgn episodes, not near as often but always top quality content and delivery. Can definitely tell you won't put a Avgn video out unless you're truly interested in the topic and it really shows. James you really outdid yourself on this one. The intro and finale of this episode was one of the best. Such an attention to detail and editing. I remember a while ago, in J&MM I think, James was retelling Mike how his daughter pointed out to him the "poo" in winnie the poo as funny, James took a while to get her joke and was impressed she made the pun so young (roughly 4).
